Positive experience: Bit dated Parking can be a hassle at times but staff are all lovely

Negative experience: Be aware that you must cancel your membership 30 days in advance (even if you do not have a subscription membership). I was not aware of this and as a result have had to pay £50 for a month of gym membership I will not use. It does not take 30 days to cancel a direct debit, it is wholly unjustified and is simply a scummy tactic to charge you extra. Unfortunately this has soured my experience with this gym. I will not be returning.

Negative experience: I useful in at the gym few years ago is good for the gym place but bit different now so lots barrier on a door the stuck is bit stupidly and new gym exercises a gym running machine so I don’t know how on working ! I’m was so struggling with me that don’t enough not much in an a the gym exercise so a small too in the gym

Negative experience: Kids swimming lessons were terrible. Staff changing regularly, kids not progressing through the stages (we met kids who'd been in the same grade for multiple years), kids messing around as the environment is really loud so listening is hard, and met so many others who moved elsewhere for similar reasons we've noted.

Positive experience: It's showing its age now. I went to the same pool when I was at school.

Positive experience: A little run down but adequate and serving the fitness and leisure community, parking is free but at busy times you struggle for a space and people are then parking on the driveway which makes it difficult for coaches to access the free coach bays, cars are also parking in the coach bays which are clearly marked COACHES.

Fantastic experience: A small, friendly and supportive gym , irrespective of your fitness level. Love the friendly environment.

Negative experience: Used to love going to KAL, but their policy that pre-paid classes can't be cancelled or transferred is ridiculous. I have a head cold and can't attend class, but due to their policy, a space has to be kept that won't be used, preventing someone else from attending. Will definitely be going to a different gym that won't waste my money.

Negative experience: Lane swimming is a joke for slower swimmers, they allow anyone in this lane and as a slow swimmer I feel intimidated by the fast swimmers who clearly shouldn't be in this lane. Happens weekly, puts me of going. No supervision at all.

Negative experience: Has a lovely pool but the gym really is lacking in equipment. If you’re going purely for the gym I wouldn’t recommend, it’s more of a hotel gym if anything - no squat rack just the basics. For 32 pounds a month too I do feel it’s on the high side considering what it offers. Please please upgrade

Positive experience: Nice little pool. The men’s changing rooms are freezing in winter. Communication is poor. Even if you book they don’t tell you if the pool is closed for snow or whatever! There’s nothing on their website and the phone line is a never ending wait. The only way you know is when you waste a journey to get there.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant little pool friendly and helpfull staff. There is a gym although havent used in several years so carnt make comment but it use to be a nice little gym, and they have a room to do classes of all types.

Fantastic experience: Visited the pool on a weekday morning. Incredibly nice staff and very helpful. Swimming facilities clean. Small 20metre pool but locals friendly and respectful! Would really recommend it.

Positive experience: Nice gym but lacking equipment, no smith machine, no bench press and only one quite poor cable machine for chest. However, it’s possible to manage without but some more equipment would improve the gym

Positive experience: For once a gym that wasn't totally overused. All the machinery was readily available, which is not the case with most gym's.

Negative experience: The phone service is terrible - it’s no service at all. Each option basically gives a generic answer to a question you’re not calling about, then gives you no option to talk to anyone.

Positive experience: Basic, decent pool.but staff could do with advising swimmers to swim and not just squat in the lane swimming lanes! Some pool rage witnessed by my better half, with fast swimmers antagonising the slower ones...in the slow lane!!! Get in your own bit of the pool speed freaks!

Positive experience: Very good aqua med class changing rooms ok but 1or 2 things could be improved .eg hooks for towels in shower area.

Negative experience: I wouldn’t use this gym again, it’s very small, they begin cleaning an hour before it actually shuts. There’s not much equipment so you find yourself waiting around to use something.

Positive experience: A decent place to train. Membership isn't expensive and the equipment is quite up to date. Sometimes the music played constantly can be a bit trying but this might be because I am of a certain age. I guess a little more attention should be payed to equipment cleaning.

Fantastic experience: All the staff were very friendly and helpful when I visited the Holmfirth Pool & Fitness Centre when I was with my fellow St Helens Ramlers Group on our weekend walk in and around the Holmfirth areas when I desperately needed to use the toilet facilities both before and after our walk.

Fantastic experience: Holmfirth gym just reopened after a refit. Good selection of machines and free weights. Pool opens at 6-30 for lane swimming, Gym is also open at this time.

Fantastic experience: Unused to using a swimming pool I used Holmfirth Pool after finishing my night shifts and the experience was very straightforward and the guys working there were very friendly and helpful prompting me to write this review.

Positive experience: Basic technogym machinery so the elliptical and treadmill are a bit basic. There are no wipes to wipe down the machines. It's clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Parking is free and generally OK. Lane swimming is generally always busy and slow swimmers are not told to go down a lane, which causes frustration.

Positive experience: No nonsense, it's limited but can't really be helped due to the size of the place, but please please get a punch bag, it's so much more motivating between sets to hit the bag and loosen up
