Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Carmine highly enough as a personal trainer. From the very beginning, his patience and motivating approach have stood out, making every session both challenging and enjoyable. Carmine has a genuine ability to understand his clients' needs and create tailored workouts that deliver results. One of the biggest improvements I've seen is in my mobility, an area I had struggled with for a long time. Thanks to his expert guidance and well-thought-out exercises, I’ve become more flexible and confident in my movements. Carmine never makes you feel rushed or overwhelmed; instead, he pushes you just enough to achieve your goals while ensuring you’re comfortable and safe. If you're looking for someone who is skilled, encouraging, and genuinely invested in your progress, Carmine is the trainer you need. Working with him has been a game-changer for my fitness journey!

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of this gym since August this year and would recommend it. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the gym has a good atmosphere. I’ve been to gyms in the past and have felt slightly intimidated by them and when I previously had a PT was set an unrealistic programme and stopped going. For the past few months I have been training with Carmine and would highly recommend him. He’s written me a realistic programme and over the weeks has tailored it to ensure it suited my fitness/flexibility levels. For the first time in my life, I’m enjoying going to the gym and look forward to my PT sessions, as Carmine makes the sessions both challenging and enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: Nice gym and welcoming environment but who makes my training time better is Carmine, the PT. I was sceptical about hiring a personal trainer, but Carmine has completely changed my mind. He’s always prepared, knows exactly what he’s doing, and tailors every workout to your goals. His sessions are challenging but effective, and the progress I’ve made is incredible in such short time. If you’re looking for a top-tier PT in South London, Carmine is the one. I can’t imagine training without him now! Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of the gym for a year. And can highly recommend. Spacious and never too busy, I can always access the machines I need - always clean and welcoming. They play good music too! The staff are really friendly, I have been training with my PT, Carmine for 6 months now - a very affordable service, he always creates achievable and easy to follow work out plan but good at pushing you out of your comfort zone whilst making the session fun and enjoyable!

Fantastic experience: I joined xcelerate gym recently and I'm doing pt sessions with trainer called Robert he's an amazing trainer and really push's me to the limit. I enjoy the work outs as its not just pushing a weight theres alot of mobility workouts involved within the session as well. The staff at the gym are welcoming and friendly and help with any workout questions one may have . I would recommend you guy try it out the classes are amazing to if you want to feel your abs burn come down on Friday evenings

Negative experience: Asked several times for someone to call me back re induction for my teenagers on family membership and advice re starting fitness program. No one has bothered. Can’t book classes ever. Wouldn’t recommend. Also want to cancel membership but site won’t allow me to do it.

Negative experience: Typical sleazy chain gym sales tricks. Get a text saying half price for life and rest of the month free. Go in and Edi says that’s just an automated text. Offers £31 as a “deal” from the “regular” £51. Website shows £32 is the normal every day price. He claims that’s almost half off. Sleazy salesman tactics. Avoid.

You see people of all ages, shapes and sizes here. It's the exact opposite of the intense hard-core bodybuilding gyms I sometimes used to go to in the 1980s. Recommended.

I’d say what sets this gym above another cheaper gym is the classes. Both quantity and quality. Definitely would recommend if you live in the area. Update: they have smoothies and today if you left a google review you’d get one for free. That gives it an additional star

Fantastic experience: Super cheap gym with all the equipment you need as a man doing weights. Brilliant for saving on your outgoings - has all the stuff needed minus a pool and sauna, which are a luxurious distraction anyway.

Fantastic experience: This gym is AMAZING!!! It has such a welcoming atmosphere too it, the gym has plenty of equipment for all types of training from bodybuilding to general fitness, this gym has it all. I’ve been coming here for a month after switching gyms and honestly…it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. One of my favourite members of staff is Mel who is brilliant at her job, has a smile on her face every time I go to the gym and is filled with positive energy. I’d highly recommend this gym too anyone looking to join. 10/10 for me.

They really go out of their way to help with onboarding, facility needs and fitness questions that you may have! Very convenient location and happy to see the gym do so well!

Negative experience: Very unethical staff, unethical management, staff misbehaved with a girl, we reported and management took no action, no apology and no regrets or response, this shows what type of people are working and managing this, shameless......

Negative experience: Joined here about two months ago and I am pretty disappointed. The gym feels dark and uninspiring inside and the decor could really do with a refresh. The machines here are of a low quality and aren’t very well maintained - lots of weight stickers peeling off and cracked seats. The machines need recalibrating as most of them have a lot of give in them. Recently the water cooler was out of order for over a month. There are bikes that have been out of order for even longer. The toilet stinks of urine and the lock is coming off. The staff here aren’t professional at all, always bellowing at each other across the gym and constantly taking up the equipment themselves. I honestly would not recommend this gym at all. Update: This month in Xcelerate Gym i’ve seen lockers full of litter, machines broken again and again, seats that are cracked and covered in sweat, rubber covers missing from handles, and even a member of staff sleeping in the locker room.. this place is honestly dire.

Fantastic experience: Would highly advise everyone to join this gym. Felt welcomed from the moment I signed up. Celine the manager was very helpful and showed me around all the facilities. Also showed me all the classes I could do. Which was included in the price. Also the gym size is just about right. Also the yoga classes by Chelsey are amazing. Would definitely recommend attending. The Staff have a perfect blend between passion and professionalism which makes you feel comfortable training and like your in good place. :-)

Positive experience: Great place if you want to get a quick work out in close to home. Was able to cancel and put membership on hold without problem. Tried it out for a few months and just wasn't for me. - the place is not well taken care of, tons of dust and cobwebs - small gym but there's always a machine or two out - the people working there don't always acknowledge you when you walk in and when they do they are interrupting your workout to try to sell PT sessions

Fantastic experience: A top-tier gym, I couldn't be more impressed with the service! I'm not new to gym culture, but training here feels like a breath of fresh air. The facilities be facilitating and the classes are absolute class. The staff and overall unrivalled atmosphere never fail to top-up my motivation as I look to achieve my fitness goals!

Positive experience: The gym is really nice but the music is really bad for working out. This is bc it is of a low frequency, and it stimulates the part of your brain that makes you relax. I would recommend changing the music to a high-frequency one like phonk or smth.

Fantastic experience: I enjoyed' Womens only weights training 'this morning taught by Emily who is very welcoming, friendly and good instructor. I have been going for quite a few weeks and enjoy it,as each week we are all doing a variety of exercises, be it lunges, kettle bell swings or boxing,rowing, . Friendly group of women.

Positive experience: The gym itself was amazing - there was a variety of clean equipment to use, the gym wasn't too populated, and the environment (including the staff team) was very welcoming and friendly. I particularly liked the post-workout exercise machines and massage chairs that were there too. I actually wish I could frequent this gym more, but between school, studying, and basketball I'm tied up. Excellent gym nonetheless!

Negative experience: Absolute scammers. Do not do a trial of this gym, it is a scam and they make it extremely difficult to cancel. We did a short trial of this gym but after trying several gyms we found one better suited to our needs. I was told I was under no obligation to continue if I changed my mind so we followed the procedure as per the Ts&Cs and cancelled within plenty of time (they state you need to phone the gym OR Harland’s- the third party that deals with the money.) I also phoned my bank and cancelled as instructed by Harland’s. Since then we have been repeatedly harassed by email, phone, and text with threats that our details are going be passed onto debt collectors. Of course this is a lie as harlands told us nothing is ever recorded on your credit file so not to worry. Not sure why they’re desperately trying to gaslight us into believing we owe them a debt, it’s laughable. They even told me we owed a £15 late fee for missing payment! I never missed a payment, I was not a member and I cancelled within the terms they set. I am absolutely appalled at how they rope you into a free trial and then harass and threaten you if you don’t want to sign up. The lady on the phone was so pushy, sarcastic, and rude and outright lied about their cancellation policy.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff. Was made to feel very welcome. It wasn't that busy when I visited so I was able to use the equipment. The changing rooms were nice and clean. There was also a big studio room and I will enquire if they do yoga.

Fantastic experience: Xcelerate is a great gym and the classes are brillaint - special shout out the class teachers especially love all the lunchtime classes including the bands and beats class and full body scupt and HIT!

Negative experience: Scammy cancellation terms. Worst gym in the area. There’s pure gym just 15min away and another gym 7min away next to Sainsbury’s - go to those instead for better value for your money.

Fantastic experience: The environment here is ecstatic, makes my gym session enjoyable. I especially appreciate FOH staff Mel and the new Manager of the Gym Celine.

Negative experience: Please beware of this gym in regards to cancellation. You can never reach the manager and they are the only one who can cancel your membership, you will end up in arrears because no one wants to action your cancellation and they will continue to say you owe them. On top of that they overcharged me and I had to send a number of emails to BEG for a refund. I’m still “waiting” for someone to cancel my membership and have just been re set up after cancelling my direct debit and telling 6 times to cancel. I don’t know who to talk to or how to get help it’s really sad and unfair and can see a number of people have been through the same situation

Positive experience: First the positives: The gym is inexpensive, has a decent array of equipment and the staff are nice. These are really the main things I'm looking for in a gym, so although the positives list is short, I can't really rate it lower than a 3 out of 5 stars. Now onto the negatives: Yes, the gym has a decent array of equipment, although it would be good if we actually got to use it! In one area there are 3 squat racks along with ample space for deadlifts, the only snag being that the gym will regularly schedule classes in the same area. This blocks off some of the most popular equipment at peak hours - disappointing given this was one of the mains draws. This results in everyone who would be using this space being funnelled into the remaining areas of the gym, so good luck finding any equipment you actually want to use! The second issue I have is with the cleanliness. The multi function room floor is filthy, it really needs to be cleaned far more regularly than it currently is. There are dust bunnies and clumps of hair everywhere. Thirdly, the sales team are incredibly pushy, even after signing up. After repeatedly cold-calling me and finding out I was already a member, their response was to ask if any of my friends are looking for gyms and to give over their details. In summary: Gym is ok but not without issue. I would go somewhere else but there is a lack of competition in the area.

Positive experience: Decent gym and cheap. Could be cleaner and they could turn the heat on. It’s freezing.

Negative experience: Fake reviews, both locations have the exact same amount reviews from the exact same peopl rn saying exact the same thing. All so stay away from this gym, the staff are rude and sarcastic and you could end up in DEBT for trying to cancel your membership. And the men stare at you when you’re working out, I have proof. Of everything I have said. They still harass me to this day, they send me text messages all the time some of them even blank messages I’ve blocked multiple numbers. My next step is court for harassment.

Negative experience: Firstly, the positives: The equipment is all new and kept clean. The staff are always polite, friendly, and look good. The negatives: The opening hours for a gym are an absolute joke and the main reason that im cancelling my membership, 6pm close on a Saturday, for real? I'm currently headed to energie to buy a day pass despite the fact I pay a membership to xcelerate because I assumed that no gym would genuinely close so early on a weekend. The space in the gym is nice but it isn't utilised properly, and they make weird decisions like hosting workout classes right in front of the Olympic bars during peak hours, so if you wanted to do squats or deadlifts that day you just can't- meanwhile there is a completely empty room available elsewhere in the gym that they could have used. Don't bother if you don't have headphones- they choose weird things for the music and play it via a phone that doesn't have Spotify premium so you sometimes will hear ads, very motivating. There's no proper check-in turnstiles or any system at all, people just kinda wander in and the staff just assume they have paid their membership. I wonder how many people there aren't even paying a membership and are being propped up by paying members, not very good business practice especially when the gym is already constantly overcrowded.
