Fantastic experience: Great gym especially for the price. There isn’t usually an issue getting on the equipment you need, and the machines and facilities are in good condition which has been an issue at some other gyms I’ve tried in the past. As for the parking issue, they have screens where you just have to put in your number plate and this avoids any fines - no complaints with this gym!
Fantastic experience: Quiet, hardly crowded, car park and open 24/7
Positive experience: Well equipped 24/7* commercial gym with generally friendly staff. Replacement equipment is brought in often when the current runs its course and cleanliness and maintenance is kept to a good standard, with plenty of free weights, machine assisted, and cardio equipment throughout. Dumbell section is a bit too small to cater to busier hours and can get very crowded, in my opinion a slightly lack of amount of dumbells towards the 30+kg and goes up to 50kg. Overall, it's a good gym, especially for the cost!
Positive experience: Great gym. Capacity is not an issue if you use the app and the team is really helpful too.
Fantastic experience: The gym is always very clean in Fratton gym group. The cleaner Mariusz and Agnieszka Justyna are great at there job, really hard working, always very helpful and very polite. Great people, it makes a huge difference and is very welcoming
Negative experience: Makes no sense to remove all the cleaning stations I understand it's an extra cost but frankly speaking people are sweating the equipment around and it is dirty. At least there was something to clean it off with, without bringing a towel etc.. Certainly a basic benefit taken away Otherwise great gym

Robust cleaning regimes are still in place and we continue to pump in 100% fresh air ventilation, day and night, we clean on a daily basis, including cleaning of all equipment and gym facilities with anti-viral products. We encourage members to bring in a sweat towel to use after they have used a piece of equipment. Having cleaning stations has resulted in a significant increase in the amount of paper waster and we are focussed on minimising our waste as part of our commitment to Net-Zero. We are proud to be the very first Carbon Neutral Gym Chain in the UK. This is just a part of our efforts, for example we are also taking steps to reduce the amount of single use plastics in our vending machines. Fantastic experience: I go 5 times a week. No trouble, No Ego's . Staff are great. My favourite one. Could do with an incline bench press like Fareham but other than that it's perfect

Negative experience: Worst gym for advising about the parking at a small gym. £180 worth of fines when the signs advise free parking for gym members. Just as a heads up the fines don’t come for about 2 weeks so if you are a frequent gym goer and forget about this then have fun sending half your wages.

The car parking company typically manages it either on their own behalf or on behalf of the leaseholder of the premises/land. The parking regulations would be highlighted on your member's area, such as the maximum time and in the branch if they require you to input your car registration on each visit. If you have been issued a parking fine and are not in breach of the parking regulations, you will need to contact the parking company directly to appeal this fine. The parking instructions for your branch are highlighted on the branch page, and also located in the manage parking section of the member's area when you log in. You will be able to access your gym usage information via the member's area to supply evidence for the appeal. Simply head to the My Gym tab and select My Gym usage. There you will see a graph for the current month which you can change, and at the bottom of the page, you will find a table with a complete view of the specific date and times of your visits. Negative experience: Went to this gym to sign up as Pure gym does not have a car park. When entering and leaving the car park, I was charged £60 parking ticket staying there for a few minutes. What a joke! Definitely will stay with Pure gym at least they don't steal from people.

Fantastic experience: Ample equipment not too busy if you go at the right times which you can check on the app and is always pretty tidy
Positive experience: I see some users not quite familiar in the use of Workout Equipment!! On the other hand, I hardly see any effort from members of staff on educating or advising the best practice possible. Some education or advice on best practice or workout from staff would add more value to the gym group. Otherwise I do enjoy my sessions at the gym group.

Fantastic experience: Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Multiple sets of each type of equipment so you rarely have to wait your turn. Also very clean and spacious.

The staff is very friendly and they help you when you need them specially Connor, he is always there to help and also Gina. I've met today Harrison too who helped me with body composition check and also my favourite PT Jay Harvey who is brilliant at what he does,looking forward to my boxing lessons every week.

Negative experience: You should start investing in auxilliary equipment . I was using the Southampton one and they had a lot of equipment ( all sorts of bars for the cable machines ) . Huge diference and a bog dissapoiment . You have to check the hole gym to find a cable or bar to be able to work out (if you find , as there are one of each type and someone is usong them at the moment)

Positive experience: This gym is good oweral,the only issue I've experienced is that if you want to re join they charge joining fee.Also would like to mention that the parking is controlled and you have to put your Reg number evre time visiting the gym!rather than that it's a good gym worth trying and won't regret!

Fantastic experience: Been with the gym group for nearly 18months and would highly recommend. Wide range in equipment and regular classes. I have to highlight Shabs, who goes out of her way to make everyone feel welcome, is knowledgeable, caring and strives to make fitness part of your life (and love it.) She is the best asset at the gym.

Positive experience: Been a member a week now. The gym is ok, the machines are very dirty, the gym feels dirty in general. It could do with a good clean! The lockers are tiny. The toilets could do with a revamp. Overall the gym needs a good clean and revamp / fix broken equipment and upgrade machines. This will be a last resort gym moving forward as it’s not what you’d expect for money. Not to mention no signs to warn you to register car upon parking.

Fantastic experience: Great place to workout as the equipment is great and price really good. Staff are welcoming and friendly. I just wish the cleaner would not smoke outside of the gym doors all the time, it is a joke. Also, staff speak to customers about constantly dropping weights for each rep of each set. The one off is fine and I get that. But the lad who drops light weights each reps letting each machine slam is a joke. He will break the machines, your equipment.

Negative experience: I have been to few Gym Group locations and the Fratton one is the worst by far. The machines are rusty and dirty, definitely not well cared for. Some machines don’t work properly, exposed chains on machines due to coverings peeling away and the vibe isn’t nice. Lots of jumping peoples machines, no gym etiquette. Disappointed and will not be returning.

Negative experience: Good gym but there seems to be little interest in development. The watt bike wasn't replaced and there is still no back extension/roman chair after many years now. I can't recall any customer survey asking for equipment suggestions either which seems to give the impression of a lack of development or interest in customer voice. Now the subscription cost has risen I am going to start looking at alternative gyms which is a shame as I really like this gym.

Negative experience: Awful experience, me and my friend were constantly looked at and made to feel uncomfortable, there were parking issues and 0 signage saying we had to register our parking reg. We were then FINED and told the parking signage was tucked away in the corner, please avoid this gym especially if you are a woman/lgbtq+

Negative experience: Great gym but was given a fine for parking outside. I only used the gym for an hour so this is completely indefensible.

Negative experience: ***scammers*** I have been a member of the gym group for approximately 8 years now and only started using the gym in Portsmouth as I now work this way. I have recently been sent a complimentary parking ticket for using the facilities that I pay for. I've not breached the 2 your ruling outside as I make sure to set my watch to notify me when it's time to go. Despite this, the gym group won't help resolve the situation, their customer service and generally the way they treat loyal customers is extremely poor. given the above, given the lack of support offered and factoring the money I've paid this company to use their facilities, I absolutely expect better. I will be cancelling my membership with them and if reading this, I'd advise you to do the same.

Fantastic experience: For me it's the perfect gym, I always go in the mornings. There is plenty of parking which is free for 3 hours. The gym is always clean and a great selection of equipment and free classes. Music can be a little noisy sometimes but that could be there is less people in the morning. But other than that it's in a good location and staff are all approachable.

Fantastic experience: This gym has a super friendly atmosphere- the staff are always genuinely happy to support when needed but don’t interfere like I’ve had at other gyms. I see staff cleaning regularly which is great, the facilities are always really clean. Always enough equipment and space. Couldn’t recommend this gym enough, especially for such a fair price!

Negative experience: I have also been caught out by the gym and nexus/CP groups parking scam 170 pound a pop although it's been inappropriately applied these fines nearly equate to a 2 years membership and I will be cancelling my membership. Disappointing

Negative experience: I’ve been in this gym for over 3 years now , I usually go to gym 6 times a week , so this is like second house for me, honestly I have been to other The gym group in other towns , well equipment in other ones, in Fratton the gym always some machines have note (I am injured) we don’t have Hyperextension bench in the Fratton , other one do have Other gyms has some baskets under each cable machine you can’t see anything on the floor, but in Fratton always everything in the floor One more thing is annoying me ,always have discount for new ppl joining so most ppl joining for a month , they leave the gym for next month, just make regular ppl uncomfortable and very busy , better to keep your loyal clients The only reason I choose The gym Fratton is free Parking, this is best part and overall well ventilation and friendly stuff.

Positive experience: Good gym, cheap and often not too crowded. Could do with better turnarounds on repairing machines and areas in the gym (sometimes a machine is broken for 1+months).

Positive experience: Plenty of parking and the gym is bigger than I first thought as you can't see the free weights section from the road. It was clean and tidy. The kit and equipment was of a good quality.

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym, I have been a member since 2016 and the equipment are very good, however it would be good if the gym could offer paper roll again as sometimes members forget their gym towels to wipe sweat and to wipe equipment for someone else to use.

Positive experience: Good environment, nice staff. Some equipment non related with the weight machines needs repair. But its a great deal for the price in general.

Positive experience: Probably the best gym on the island but a victim of its own success. I'd recommend going out of peak times as it gets way too busy otherwise and not a big fan of waiting to use machines.

Negative experience: Incurred a fine as a result of parking in the gym's own car park. I was properly parked and using the gym but received a £100 fine in the post. When I tried to resolve this, I found they had no phone number for customer service and their reply via email took so long that I had to pay the fine. Then at that point they were not willing to help. Overall, an unnecessarily poor customer experience as a result of using a facility that my membership pays for.

Negative experience: The gym itself is fine. What is frustrating is that they do not clearly advertise that you have to register your car on a tablet to get the free parking. I only found the tablet on my second visit when I was working out in a certain section. If I wasn’t working out in that section I would never of known that is where it is. The fact it is located at a random desk with a A4 paper saying car parking registration is a bit shocking really. Why is this not clearly marked when you enter. If you read through the reviews this is a common occurrence so why has this not been sorted out. To top it off I have emailed to hopefully get the charge removed and have had no response.

Fantastic experience: Nice atmosphere, ,good facilities, easy access, helpful staff. Good air con and music. Clean throughout. Public could be more considerate wiping equipment after themselves, but staff do go around and clean periodically. I had a gifted one month pass, but have joined permanently now.
