Fantastic experience: Amazing gym. Great facilities and friendly staff. Let me cancel hassle-free when I moved away.

Positive experience: Well Kitted out and nice staff but very disappointed when after paying for 3 memberships for the whole year up front the staff refused my son (who was back home for a few days) to have a complimentary or reduced fee for one off use.. spent £1800 on annual Memberships up front so very disappointing

Fantastic experience: Really friendly and welcoming staff and members. PT service is exceptional. I see Fin weekly and he is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and motivational. The pool and changing rooms and gym equipment are spotlessly clean. Recommend.

Negative experience: Good gym but very expensive when you see that it’s full of students paying half than you so may as well change gyms and pay a fair price for everybody. Also, it used to be much cleaner and well kept, staff doesn’t seem interested in tidying much. Now things take forever to get fixed, guess we don’t pay enough

Positive experience: Simply not good enough. Over double what I am paying at PureGym at £30 (on a monthly contract, but FitnessFirst £110 if you want to pay monthly! £65 if you sign up for a 12 month contract. They say you can get out of it under certain circumstances but I don’t like any gym that force you to pay, even if you decide to leave. That’s charging for a service someone is not using, it’s like theft. I’ve had one gym do it before and never signed up to a 12 month contract again. PureGym have a 1 month contract, that’s it! If you want to leave, you can leave and they will stop charging. If you leave FitnessFirst, they will still charge you, it’s just not right! Not to mention it’s over twice as expensive, it does have a pool and sauna which I do want. But it’s not worth the extra charge. I find some of the equipment faulty, the dumbbells not laid out well, the facilities generally clean but not great and while visiting, a cold sauna, so returned the next day and it was ok the second time around at least and some very friendly gym members. I can’t say I found the staff very friendly. So in short, it’s ok, but could be much better both in service and price. Plus there is no car park. I’ll miss the sauna but decided this is not the place for me. PureGym are very clean, twice as good value for money, loads of classes and great parking. I’ll just have to sacrifice having a pool and sauna.

Fantastic experience: Great club! Very clean and excellent facilities. I would definitely recommend this club. The classes that I have attended have been of very high standard, Izzy and Connor are fantastic and are two of the best trainers I have experienced.

Positive experience: Good all round gym. I'd be giving this 5 stars and will happily amend it if management makes my proposed changes below: 1. More cable machines. These are super popular and it's always hard to get one. Just 2 more would make a massive difference. There's plenty of space for them in the functional fitness space which is hardly used in comparison. 2. Hip abduction machines. These are standard gym equipment that are some of the most popular in most gyms. It's surprising there aren't any in this gym. 3. The pool is great, but it's frustrating for serious swimmers that there is no fast lane. All it would take is labelling one lane as 'fast' and it would be a massive improvement. If these changes were made this could become the best gym in Bath. Please consider them!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member of fitness first since it opened many years ago and I still love it! It’s a great size, lots of equipment, friendly environment, great classes and lots of facilities - pool, sauna, steam room etc. The staff over the years have always been lovely and the team there now are fab. I do all the evening spin classes and always look forward to them. Big shout out to Becky, Ed, Nigel, Izzy and Connor… and all the previous instructors! Connor’s classes (proudly the campest in the south west) genuinely make me smile, I look forward to them every time and his enthusiasm has helped me get back in to my fitness routine after a slight hiatus. Thank you Fitness First Bath!! ❤️

Fantastic experience: I have just done a spin class with Ed first time doing his class as I tend to stick to instructors I know due to past experience, Well this class with brilliant, great music and fab instructor interacting with us to try & make it as fun as possible, I will definitely be back to do his class again

Negative experience: The big selling point of fitnessfirst in bath is the sauna and that’s the main reason I’m coming to this gym. The sauna has been broken for over a month. Just spoke to front desk and a contractor hasn’t even been booked. Will be cancelling my membership and finding a new gym if this isn’t sorted in the next few weeks.

Fantastic experience: I live in London but always make sure I do Connor’s spin class when I’m in bath. They’re so fun and he has a great energy!!

Positive experience: Fitness first Bath needs improvements but there are 2 fabulous trainers who are the bests. Lily T and James T are the most caring trainers there. Lily T also did yoga today as our recharge class was canceled with any notice but she kindly replaced it with a yoga class and trained us. Her beautiful smile also gives you the energy to forget all about the busy working days. Thanks for your efforts guys! :)

Fantastic experience: The gym has improved so much in the months I have been away( I spend winter abroad) Staff actually smile and greet you and say goody when you leave. Faulty equipment is repaired rapidly. I attend the spin class which is run by Connor, Ed and Becky. I’ve never enjoyed a class so much. The instructors are really motivational and make it fun and the new bikes are great being able to select a level, rather than a random guess, also being able to see your progress. A great addition to the gym. Also the flexible membership means I can return in the summer months, unlike before when it was 12 months only Keep up the great work Bath team

Fantastic experience: The gym is great and so many options for classes which are always great fun! I have a PT whilst at the gym and couldn’t recommend Drew enough. Drew is a great PT and listened to what I wanted to achieve each session so definitely recommend him as a PT!

Fantastic experience: Fitness first in Bath has great facilities and is a nice space I would like to give a special mention to Drew Harris who from the first time I walked in he has been a friendly face offering to show my friend and I around to later on become our PT no task is too big or small for Drew even when he is on shift behind reception and not in one of our PT sessions he is always willing to help and or show us how to us equipment if we are struggling

Positive experience: The staff here is incredible - they know what they’re talking about and are always so open and friendly. The free classes are fantastic - Izzi is as ruthless as she is kind, Connor makes the torture of spin classes feel like you’ve stepped into a musical, and I could go on and on with all the great lessons the others have given!

Fantastic experience: I've been a member here since they first opened and though all the changes of ownership and management and I think FF Bath is the best it's ever been. The equipment and facilities are excellent and well kept, the classes are really good and, most of all, the staff are all amazing. Always helpful and friendly. The gym is welcoming for all ages (I'm 62) and the other members seem really friendly too; I never feel out of place here. I really recommend it.

Fantastic experience: I do enjoy my spin class and body pump class and Pilates class every week. Recently here got lots classes for different time through out the week day and weekend. Here have Nice classes setting, lots of classes spared during weekday and weekend as well, it’s very easy to book in on fitness first app. Especially, all the staff here are very helpful, warm and professional. New training spin coach Ed is working hard to improve his tech knowledge, I do enjoy spin class with him. Hope he can get more experience in the future. He maybe can working on speed and math-musical. Very Nice clean bathroom and changing room, shower room fresh and clean.

Positive experience: This is based upon my own training needs and probably not representative for everyone. Almost everything I need is here: kettlebells (although heavier up to 40kg would be better than the current 32kg max), Sled area is great (for ATG / Knees over Toes), pull up & dip bars, boxes, & more functional training equipment than most gyms. They have standard Watt bikes, although these are a little worse for wear as the magnetic resistance dials are very worn on each - and so when sprinting the magnetic resistance can come off. Bonus is that you can use the spin bikes when classes aren’t on. The sauna is actually a decent temperature ~ 80+ degrees up top, but for some reason it hasn’t been designed with a drain and so water (or sweat?) collects in a puddle on the floor, simple fix is to add a a couple drains. This would probably improve the smell as it isn’t too fresh in there. Still a better sauna than most gyms I’ve tried. Staff have been great. Overall a great gym for me with only a few caveats.

Fantastic experience: Great gym in city center! Facilities are plentiful and immaculately clean (weights, equipment, studios, bikes, pool, sauna & changing/shower rooms). Endless # of classes to suite all levels and interests with an online booking app. Staff are always friendly, professional, and generous with helpful advice (thanks Ed). Recent arrival of the new Manager (Connor) has brought another level of positive energy to an already amazing experience.

Fantastic experience: We recently stayed in Bath. Unfortunately our hotel had to close their leisure facilities at short notice which was disappointing. Luckily and fortunately for us, Fitness First Bath, across from the hotel came to our rescue. The staff were very accomodating, approachable, friendly and professional. The facilities met our needs and we most definately will visit when we are back in Bath. Thank you team

Fantastic experience: I love this place! There is a great variety of classes, the team are super friendly and cleanliness levels are high in all areas - what more could you want! I regularly use the pool, attend a number of spin classes run by Ed, Connor and Lauren, (all fantastic) am put through my paces in James’s bootcamp and Rosanna’s Zumba class is just brilliant!

Negative experience: Always full of posers hogging equipment and the cost is ridiculous. The staff are lovely and classes are great which is a relief. The equipment/ pool / facilities are good but it's pointless when you can't use it.

Negative experience: you can't do a first free trial you can just visit them wich is very unprosseional, a one day pass is 25 birtish pounds wich is just ridiculous, you can buy awhole month worth of pass in other gyms in bath, for a month it's 55 pounds wich is only that expessive beacouse they are the only ones in bath who has a sauna

Fantastic experience: Such a fantastic Gym! The staff are all super friendly and helpful. Never been a fan of spin but the manager Connor puts on the BEST spin class ever! So worth it and the best gym in bath by a mile!

Negative experience: Seem to be letting in young teenagers in who are in school uniform who make the steam room and sauna very unpleasant as they shout inside. Saw some 13-15 year old in there. Seen people vaping in the pool multiple times don’t know if anything was done about it.

Fantastic experience: The gym space is big and there are lot of modern machines. I have been a regular customer and really enjoyed the variation in classes they have. The swimming pool is very nice for a post workout. It can get very busy during a lot of the day but some hours are very quiet such as Friday evenings and the weekends. More on the expense side but you can’t really put a price on health.

Negative experience: I’ve recently had a trial and was extremely dissatisfied. I mean, just taking into consideration the price alone. The membership has doubled in just a few years. Unreasonable is an understatement. The place is so overcrowded. No matter what time of the day I went, it was always rammed. You can barely get a full workout in. I ended up sharing machines with 3-4 other people. This adds a lot of time to your session and makes it difficult to focus. It seems like a good place for vacuous drones to pose and sit on their phones. A rapid transformation into a pretentious, overpriced basement. Desperate to push it’s obnoxious image of exclusivity. There were an array of other issue which I will not get into. Simply avoid, there are a few other gym’s in the city that are way better.

Negative experience: The facilities and staff here are lovely and would’ve given Fitness First Bath 5 star but unfortunately the service I have received from their head office regarding cancelling my membership wasn’t the slightest bit helpful - so I give fitness first 1 star! Just because my work has relocated and not my home (both of which are 15 miles from my nearest club) , a 30 minute car journey then would need to pay parking! I cannot cancel! I can’t afford to keep a membership that I will not ever use again! I have only completed 3 out of 12 months membership and you are expecting me to continue to pay without using your facilities! It is ridiculous, I just get told “unfortunately these are the terms and conditions I signed up to” well I understand that but my circumstances have changed. I changed jobs as at risk of redundancy and now expected to continue my membership! There is a cost of living crises and considering I have provided my new works contract and proof of my home address you’d think you’d have a little humanity and help! Thanks for lovely faculties at Bath though! I am sad I have to leave!

Negative experience: Great... until you decide you want to leave. Requested to put my account on freeze online, on the 1st they collected for a full subscription. i called to find out what was going on and was told i had never logged in to cancel. they asked me to provide evidence so i sent them my google history(timestamped) along with the doc uploaded to their site requesting my account be put on hold. Just received an email back saying, my evidence was not good enough and I will not get a refund and must pay another £15 to cancel or £8 per month to freeze. I have to say i expected better customer service considering the relatively high monthly payments.

Day passes are available for our guests, that are looking for gym experiences with pool/sauna and steam room, something a bit special. Guest always come back happy. Positive experience: Advertises towel service but then charges you £2 per towel. The towel I got wasn't worth a quid, as it was ripped and about a third of the size required. Gym is good but the facilities are old and require updating.

Negative experience: Diana was very rude, on a few occasions. Besides, the whole gym feels like a filming studio, with cameras and tripods everywhere. On an average day you might be recorded by 3-5 different phones. Perhaps you should explicitly acquaint prospective members with this issue during the introductory tour, not everyone likes to be in random peoples instagram? Tiktok? Something else? Apart from the gym area, swimming pool is decent but it’s usually occupied by people just standing and chatting, making it difficult to do lengths. And there’s sauna/steam room which are always rather loud, and you get to hear too much gossip in a place you’re meant to relax.

Negative experience: Really friendly staff, but unfortunately like most gyms in Bath now, Over priced for non-students and students getting a extremely good deal paying 50% less. Unfortunately, this club in Bath this year has really gone downhill, it is now busy most of the time with students (which isn't their fault as its a so cheap at £33 compared with non student rate of £59) but it has recently meant that at all times of the day (I have tried none peak times 9-11am, 2-4pm) is extremely busy and I have been unable to do any of the fitness plans I have wanted because of this. Leaving me very frustrated, annoyed and more stress leaving than coming in the club...which it should be the other way around! The swimming pool can often be busy with groups of students walking in the pool and just standing in the pool, which makes it hard to do lengths and intimidating. A lot of the fitness equipment is very dated, which means its hard to use such as the assisted chin-up machine. In summary if your a student and don't mind it being busy then this is the club for you! Specially with the price cheaper than PureGym and you get a pool sauna and steam room!!

Fantastic experience: Been training at fitness first for the past year. The aesthetic is so nice with the LED lighting, friendly staff especially the two James’ on desk always ask me about my workout plans. Would definitely say this is the best gym in bath! :)

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to a few gyms in Bath, and Fitness First is the best I’ve tried - really good kit, great atmosphere, friendly staff and a sauna. Also the location is ideal for students living in Oldfield Park, as it’s only a 10 minute or so walk. Would fully recommend to anybody.

Fantastic experience: I have only just started at fitness first, however it is already clear how nice and friendly the staff are. They really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome- especially Marcus. The equipment is also to a good standard and always clean. I would highly recommend :)

Fantastic experience: Gym area is great, there’s lots of space and loads of quality machines and free weights. There are also lots of classes to choose from and the Staff are all great and they are always happy to help. The extra facilities are really good. The sauna, steam room, and pool are all great, either by themselves or after a workout.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for two years at Fitness First Bath and I have never looked back. After trying many gyms when I first came to Bath, I realised that Fitness First was the one for me. There is a sense of community and a genuine approachable nature from the staff that leaves you feeling energised for your workout without any intimidation. The classes are great and there is a wide selection across the day, the equipment is up to date and it accommodates all abilities. Having a swim and steam room after a workout on a Saturday morning is definitely one of my favourite pastimes!

Fantastic experience: This is the perfect gym for me. Never too busy, lovely pool and steam/ sauna, excellent equipment and friendly staff. I've been a member for around 10 years and don't think about going anywhere else. It's located in a great central position so easy to get out for a lunchtime workout.

Fantastic experience: My first time using a gym for a while, and felt super comfortable using the facilities, Matt on front desk even gave me a workout and showed me how to use the equipment so I didn’t feel awkward! James always greets me with the biggest smile and Liam is super informative about everything! For gym newbies like myself, you’re in great hands! And if you go to the often, then you’d probably appreciate the variety of equipment and classes! Highly recommend!
