Negative experience: None of the facilities are available throughout the day . It should be about £10 a month not the most expensive gym in Cheltenham. The prices are actually going up from October. Something is very disorganised here but a reduction in availability and an increase in price is obviously not logical

Fantastic experience: Brilliant facilities, friendly and highly professional staff. Clean, and family-friendly. Excellent 6 lane 25m pool, well-kitted out gym, and multi activity areas.

Negative experience: Sorry to confirm other reviews, if you're staying at the George Hotel with supposed free access to this gym, don't bother it doesn't open when it claims to.

Fantastic experience: The best pool in Cheltenham, after the lido.

Positive experience: Have used the pool here for many years, initially mainly because they allowed you to pause membership in order to swim in the summer. This has now stopped, and you now have to cancel membership each year and rejoin, or carry on paying for an unused membership for six months. It’s a great pool and become a big part of my routine but such a shame they’ve changed this. I have sung their praises for years but will stop doing so now. Feels like they’ve become just as money grabbing as most other gyms, clearly hoping you’ll carry on paying while not using the pool in the summer. Very sad.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous facilities.

Positive experience: I was a member of the gym here for 1.5 years, it was refurbished in December 2023 and unfortunately no longer fit my requirements for a gym after refurbishment. The new Technogym equipment did not feel to be up to the same standards as the previous equipment and particularly the now lack of elliptical cross trainer machines. The price as of Jan 2024 was £52.50 per month.

Negative experience: Was a member here for ages but there were a few issues. 1) Half the time the main gym is closed off downstairs for the students to use.....ridiculous. 2) Rude staff. 3) The toilet in the mens changing room has been closed off for at least 6-8 months which is a disgrace. All this for £48 a month.....I think not...... 4) Not enough equipment....seriously..... Thanks but no thanks

Fantastic experience: I am very pleased with the fitness centre. Always clean, lots of machines, huge sports halls, three weight lifting gyms, Olympic dimensions pool, spacious changing rooms and kind staff! I can’t ask for anything more.

Negative experience: I have to plan my whole day according to the schedule of the fitness (opening and closing times) which changes every 4 weeks And PLEASSEEE STAIRMASTER!!!! I don't know one gym that doesn't have stairmaster..... And couple of more equipments that they REALLY should add to their gym, please consider to update and upgrade!! And at 2022 who needs a coin for lockers?? At least keep a box with 20p coins in so everyone can use it, don't think anyone would steal!

Negative experience: Facilities are very good other than the lack of racks and ceiling height in the gym (can’t boxjump or overhead press at all) But where this facility earns its rating it the rudeness and incompetency of all of its staff and there lack of common sense, i have seen 5 members of staff come to the sports hall one by one to put a basketball hoop up to the correct height after it broke for reliability issues just for the young girl to do it herself. Also good luck trying to book anything they ignore most calls that come in so it takes a good 30 minutes of successive calls to eventually book a court just for them to say it’s all booked up by people (that never turn up anyway cause they don’t have a no show fee in place) In summary this is an absolute con and joke of a place avoid at all costs for your own mental health!!!!

Positive experience: Facilities a 10 BUT: Public access is limited during term (not a problem as long as you’re aware) Class booking is a disaster. All via phone or in person. They refuse to book classes via email. They never answer the phone, which is odd as there are generally 2-4 of them in reception. Any chance of online booking?

Positive experience: Really nicely equipped gym, with multiple weights rooms (though now trimmed down in Covid-19 mode), a low chlorinated pool, and lots of classes in yoga and Pilates, for example. Since the reopening, I've been back a handful of times, and it's all a bit less streamlined, with the upstairs exercise rooms shut, and the benches for lifting free weights generally kept down, off the low plinths with the racks, which I don't quite understand, and just requires moving them each time I go to do any weight training. Staff also seem to be much less visible these days, in case you have questions or need any help. Brendan and the rest of the team are great, really friendly and enthusiastic, they just don't seem to be around much these days! The space is very clean and well managed, though, and equipment is also in nice shape. We've always liked the swimming pool a lot, but haven't tried it out again since March.

Negative experience: My membership was supposed to be ended on 31 March 2020. Due to the COVID 19, the gym has closed on 23 of March. When they reopened, I realised that my membership is suspended and they refused to refund the lost days or allow me to use them after they opened. I had many emails and calls with them but, they only offer to compensate them if I re-join which absolutely ridiculous, No wonder why no one recommended this gym.

Positive experience: Great facilities as far as squash, tennis and pool are concerned. However, we joined for the gym facilities and unfortunately the best gym is closed for too long in the the day (for exclusive pupil use) to be worth the membership fee. Not only do the other fitness rooms leave a lot to be desired as far as quality of equipment is concerned, but they also they get so packed at peak times you can’t even train as they are very small and so you’re left waiting for machines/equipment to come free. We switched to The Gym which is less than half the membership fee (albeit with no pool or racket sport options) and has amazing new equipment and is huge so you’re never waiting for equipment to come free - something that suited us better.

Fantastic experience: Swimming pool lovely with modern UV filtering system so no smelly chlorine. Can get a busy though, especially in the evenings. Changing rooms always clean and tidy. Well worth the membership fee.

Negative experience: Disabled people not welcome ........ was told that I could not use the gym facilities for some physio with a day pass because I had an existing leg injury that prevented full flex function of my knee . I was asked mockingly how I would "make it down the stairs to the gym " Would love management to clarify its disability policy .......

Fantastic experience: Very clean and lots of equipment. The layout is a bit confusing, it wasn't clear what was available and where (eg, cardio in room x, weights in room y). I got a pass while I stayed at the Queen's Hotel.

Fantastic experience: A fabulous sports centre, with a 25 metre ozone pool, which has recently had a second sports hall and squash courts built, along with a new well equiped gym. Membership rates are competitive when compared with other Cheltenham options and include free classes. Lots of free parking and outdoor options for tennis, hockey etc.

Fantastic experience: First class facilities and great staff. The gym is well equipped and puts a lot of the more commercial operations to shame. Constant investment and modernization keeps this place in tip top condition. As at July 2018 the large pool, which was already excellent, is currently undergoing major a refit. The opening times for the public are fitted in around the school timetable. The staff are always helpful and friendly.

Positive experience: Love the facilities here! Everything is so clean and perfect! The swimming pool, badminton and squash courts, everything is just great. Only wish they had more weights and machines though! They started charging £1 each for squash racquets, badminton racquets, balls and everything. I feel it's a little too much when your already paying a monthly fee!
