Fantastic experience: I joined here recently for the swimming and gym, the gym has a good range of equipment and the pool has a spa pool, steam room and sauna.

Fantastic experience: Popped in today to check the facilities and membership prices, lovely staff, Lovely little gym / sauna / heated pool, pool, hot tub! It was so good I joined immediately. Snapped it up fast coz if your not fast, your last.. it's part of parkdean resorts. Right in the middle of the holiday park.

Fantastic experience: Facilties are in order for use generally. The hot tub is shared and it can sometimes get busy but it is a very nice hot tub. The pools are clean. The smaller pool is heated which is very nice. All in all a good facility. Its not the fanciest but its definitely practical and fit for purpose.

Positive experience: I go regularly and the facilities are very pleasant. However, there is a lot of broken or worn equipment in the gym. The floor in the ladies changing room is often dirty as the water from showers doesn't drain away well

Negative experience: Gym is terrible, equipment broken or missing, its never cleaned and this goes throughout the whole place.

Positive experience: The pool is lovely. However, the changing rooms are filthy with mould growing in the dirt on the formica panels. The flooring dirty and stained due to lack of proper cleaning. The shower heads need urgent descaling. The water machine in the gym is a health risk and is covered in mould and dirt. Many of the machines in the gym do not work and the area is generally in need of repair. The sauna is also in need of a deep, particularly the floor and lower area. The staff are very friendly. However, there seems a lack of oversight for things to have become so neglected

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming swimming and using the gym here for over 10 years the pool is always lovely and clean and the spa and the gym is always clean to really friendly staff that make u feel very welcome I always come away feeling relaxed !!

Positive experience: Close to surrounding towns and villages and offers good prices for couples. £90 for 3 months. Jacuzzi , steam room and two pools. Gym use is extra. Friendly regulars who like to chat.

Negative experience: I honestly cannot believe some of the reviews published about this place. I joined six months ago and the pool has been out of action for over a month during that time. The gym is truly appalling! I have never visited it when a quarter of the already very limited equipment wasn't out if order. Takes weeks for equipment to be fixed. The floor and ceiling both need replacing. The water dispenser is broken, but that doesn't matter, because there are never any cups anyway. The changing rooms are the best possible place to go if you want to increase your chances of getting a bacterial infection. The worst part is, nobody working seems to care. My advice. Go to another gym. Any other gym.

Positive experience: The good bits. The main pool, the water quality is very good. It's so clear (clean,) you don't see any particles in the water or dirt on pool floor. It's also relatively quiet given that it's a holiday park. You can easily pick a lane and swim without disruption, either in the permanent dedicated swimming lane, or the rest of the pool. The smaller pool. This is kept at a higher temperature than the main pool and is very comfortable for parents with babies or infants. There's two ladder style steps to access/exit but no ramp, stairs, or wheelchair/hoist facilities. There's a Jacuzzi in this area, as well as a communal sauna. Private sauna and Jacuzzi room is available by appointment but generally, as a rule of thumb, if the door to the room is open they don't seem to object to people using it without reservation, this is quite useful for the shower as it's close to the communal sauna, which does not have a plunge pool or shower close to it. The gym. There are three treadmills, three bikes, two cross trainers, a couple of rowers and a half dozen or so resistance weight training machines. There's two racks of dumbbells and a dozen or more free weight plates, which can be used to add to the barbells. There's two benches but neither has a rack for the barbell. The bad bits. The whole facility is getting tired. The maintenance is on a shoe-string. In the past 12 months alone, the main pool has been closed for one reason or another. On the last occasion, the main pool was out of action for weeks! If it's not the boiler that's packed up, it's the filters... The main pools boiler also heats the changing rooms showers too, so even if you decide to have a workout in the gym, you have to either take a cold shower, or go home a sweaty mess- poor show! On the subject of the pool area again. There is no foot spa between the changing rooms and the pools, which granted is not unusual, not all pools have them but then none of the Balance Spa lifeguards ever seem to have an issue with people entering the pool, having bypassed the shower. Still on the pool hygene. Lots of people use the pool for private one-to-one swimming lessons. No problem with this at all, the downside... parents/guardians/carers that obviously bring their kids to lessons are able to walk to the poolside, unchallenged, wearing their outdoor footwear. Sure there's those disposable shoe covers available by the spectator door to the pool but nobody reinforces the use of them. The changing room. They're dirty, disgusting, filthy, dated. There's no adequate and dedicated parent changing facilities on this site. The opening hours. Lousy! In summary. If you're a swimmer then you won't be too upset with the water quality, it's really very good. You'll rarely struggle to find a lanebut then also be mindful that you may have to live with the hygiene pitfalls and the occasional pool closure through technical problems. If you're looking for a gym, then I recommend you look elsewhere for the money.
