Negative experience: Running on the treadmills is HELL because there’s no proper aircon
Hi Emily, thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We have recently made slight changes to this area, looking at improving energy efficiency. This is both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. By law, we have a requirement to provide a certain amount of fresh air based on occupancy levels, and our ventilation system increases and decreases at different times throughout the day and night, making sure we meet these requirements and provide good air movement around the gyms. These levels are based on size of the gym, and occupancy levels, and are regularly monitored. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities and all feedback is taken into account when making any future changes. Positive experience: Great gym, usually busy but plenty of equipment. Booked onto an early morning circuit class but didn't end up doing it as inadequate warm up and the instructor thought everything was super easy and straight forward. Probably just his personality and now I know how things work can adjust what I do to fit in

Positive experience: Great gym, I’ve been a member for 5 years now, all the kit you need, the problem is there’s now usually a queue of people waiting for each bit of kit and when you do get on, there’s other members asking how long you’ll be using it for. There’s been a big influx of new member all of a sudden. I don’t have the ability to come during the day. This gym is in desperate need of an expansion and there’s plenty of spaces in The Springs to do it

Negative experience: No showers working for at least 3 weeks in the male changing room. Alternative is the single disabled shower or use Pure Gym facilities 10 miles away
Hi Swan,thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We are equally as disappointed when, from time to time, things go wrong and equipment has to be placed out of order. Regular maintenance checks are undertaken, and any issues identified are escalated to engineers straight away. Sometimes, there may be a small wait whilst engineers attend to fix any issues, but we endeavour to resolve these as soon as possible. Fantastic experience: Had to email about an issue from my part and they responded within the hour. Very lovely reply and helped me out. Team 5/5. Can be busy but it’s a popular gym with good equipment.

Fantastic experience: Large gym, with a ton of equipment. Separate area for classes and spin cycles. Large free weight area. And loads of cardio machines. Newer gym, so is a little more expensive than other pure gyms, and is not part of the multi site access, unless you are a higher paying member.

Positive experience: Not as clean as when they had cleaners but better than it has been.
Negative experience: I've been going there now since I moved to Thorpe Park 21 months ago. Facilities are OK. Sometimes not able to get on the equipment I want to, as too busy at times, but the staff have never spoken to me including the manager. Tried to make eye contact and they just look the other way. Very unfriendly. They'll happily talk to anyone who is in their click. I went to a Leeds Council gym before that for years and always had a chat or bit of banter. Not saying I want to stand having a conversation forever, but by now they should at least be known my name or at least acknowledge me with a hi. Seriously. They really have no customer interaction and this needs addressing. I want to feel welcomed as a paying customer. Upper management really do need to address this. I always get this impression that they just really don't want to be there and just go through the motions. Please resolve this culture. I'm even thinking of moving back to my old Leeds Council Gym.

Positive experience: Nice. But can improve a lot. 1. Very small 2. One equipment only for some types 3. Very busy 4. Leading to highly used and equipment in some cases 5. Also leading to it being very warm (too warm) 6. Leading to point out the not so great ventilation 7. Showers are spacious and clean but the doors are the "milky glass" type so you'll be almost publicly naked. So I haven't been able to use them at all 8. The other gym goers seem nice and friendly and general gym etiquette seems to be followed

We always aim to provide a broad spread of kit to cater to a range of fitness needs and meet demand as it changes through the day, getting the balance right between weights and cardio, but if you have any specific suggestions it's best to approach the Gym Manager. Air conditioning is set according to gym size and occupancy, changing throughout the day to ensure the best air flow possible. Negative experience: I’ve been going to this gym for few months now i keep on noticing one off the staff he always be there i think he is a cleaner there. He always looks at women & he starts talking to them when they are training I think he is a nonse he never does any work every time i see him he’s always looking at women that are less than half his age few other people training there have noticed it aswell he needs sacking

Negative experience: WiFi been down for months. Theres very poor cellular connection inside which means if you need to be contactable such as 'on call' work or for clients, you will not be reachable. Staff been waiting for a technician for more than 3 months lol

Fantastic experience: It's a great gym overall. I actually travel several miles to come to Puregym rather than another well-known chain closer to me specifically because of its inclusivity policies. One thing I would say, though, is that if you detest inane chart pop as much as I do, make sure you have your own music stored on your phone to tune out the piped music as the 5G signal is very weak here and their own wifi can be a bit flaky.

Fantastic experience: They’ve just spent a fortune building new racks with new bars and plates. The classes are always worth going to. I’ve just started some PT sessions with Leigham, I’d highly recommend him if you fancy PT I was shocked at the low price initially but then also how much I’ve learnt. I’ve been going to the gym for maybe 2 years and just YouTubing ideas but I’ve learnt more in 2x1 hour sessions than I’ve learnt in 2 years on my own. I’ve heard really good things about the other PT’s too. Sam

Positive experience: Nice Gym located in the middle of some really good restaurants and shops. Plus there's a cinema next door. The equipment is always maintained, clean (especially since covid) and the classes friendly and plentiful. Great value.

Negative experience: For the best part of a year 20 % of floor space was unusable , as were some shower cubicles, the mat area has now been taken over by weights, and they have put the price up significantly, when they ought to have been giving refunds

Negative experience: Had issues accessing the gym, pressed the assistance button and no staff members about at all. Considering it was in the morning as well with lots of people coming in and out. The service is terrible. Will not be returning.

Positive experience: Went for the first time to attend a class 3 weeks ago- staff are lovely - but no aircon in the studio means I can't attend a class until its fixed.

Negative experience: I find this gym a excessively busy at times. That along with the broken air conditioning at the moment makes it a really difficult environment to train In. I’ve been in a couple of times and the humidity is so high there is moisture on all of the glass and mirrors. It feels really unhygienic. This is very disappointing given the recent pandemic and need for cleanliness. Certainly with the change in seasons, common colds and infections are on the rise. The functional area being out of action for 3-4 months was less than ideal and the area that is there now feels somewhat incomplete. Little communication to inform and update, other than passive emails that generally hit a spam filter. Please rectify these items asap Pure Gym as you have lots of unhappy members.

Positive experience: A good gym with plenty of equipment and there’s plentiful off-peak parking in the main retail park car park. As with many branches, it does get very busy on weekday evenings.

Negative experience: Music of spin classes is literally deafening. Ridiculously loud. I wear headphones in weight section and I can't hear my music even when on full volume. I have asked for it to be lowered a bit and was told "doesn't go any lower"...? Gym equipment is good.

Fantastic experience: A newer gym with a good selection of equipment. It can get really busy at peak times but that's because it's such a great gym! The staff and other gym-goers are very friendly too and a good mix of people.

Negative experience: Poor experience today. Went in with a free day pass, equipment looks good, clean and modern but not a single member of staff available anywhere to help with machine set up or advice.

Negative experience: Unstaffed at night it’s a weird place. More equipment availability but you get stared at by the locals and pestered by the overfriendly cleaner.

Negative experience: The gym equipment is good and clean, but there just isn’t enough of it. With it being small you struggle to get the use of anything.

Fantastic experience: Really great place (as well as being a top gym). Staff are really nice (Matty, Lauren, Andy, Tom, Sophie, Harvey etc)... and are also super helpful. I have found that other members are pleasant, respectful and keep themselves to themselves (tho will chat when the need arises!). Loads of classes and lots of exercise machines. This gym suits all abilities.... I understand that there is an expansion plan as this PureGym is the most popular in Leeds. Always plenty of parking and the option to buy some healthy food from M&S on the way home.

Positive experience: I have only recently joined but so far it's been a good experience. There is a good range of equipment for all types of workouts. I also did a class which was good too. So far so good. I go at a time when it's not busy so I guess at peak times it may be a struggle to get on the equipment you want.

Fantastic experience: Friendly approachable staff. Good atmosphere and interaction between members, between staff and between staff and members. Equipment well maintained, showers clean and feels safe. Apart from that, personal trainers appear at the top of their game and appear to offer unique qualities. Always leave this gym in a good mood.

Positive experience: The gym itself is great. The staff also great & helpful if needed. But one thing I can't understand is why on earth there is no way to change the temperature on the showers here?! I've heard many people mention it also. It's just permanently hot! After a long cardio session, especially in the summer... there is nothing better than a cold, or at least cool shower! This is why it's only 4 stars out of the 5 ♂️

Negative experience: Small clean gym, good quality kit but not enough of it. Only 3 racks and regular long waits for these and other key bits of kit (even at quiet times). It's convenient for me which is a necessity or else I'd go somewhere else.

Positive experience: I can't really knock pure gym it's a good experience, my only issues are finding quiet periods and my sort of, of mainstream music taste, but otherwise I'd recommend as it is a 24hour gym
Negative experience: Good gym, lots of equipment. What is going on with the lack of signal? I couldn’t get any signal for my workout, music and it didn’t log my visit on the app. Can you sort out a WiFi for customers as if the building is restricting signal then this is not good.

Negative experience: Not much to say only I will not be off back any time soon..
Positive experience: The gym itself is good, but you're buggered for connectivity on your phone if you're not near a window. The trainers won't share the WiFi and if your workout is on your device, then you're buggered.
Negative experience: Far too busy today at peak time to abide by covid restrictions. Never ever seen it so busy. Wife and I had to leave straight away. People milling around in groups waiting for equipment or chatting. No equipment available at all. Very few people wearing masks where they should be when not training. Just far too many people allowed in there to train abiding by restrictions, or at all for that matter, and the app was showing it not even at capacity. Considering cancelling as just been a waste of money since rejoining at the times I can go.
