Positive experience: Been waiting on a refund for them after a vety very very slow service during a football match In December. Pretty done with thr their lack of response now and how this has all gone down. All feels a bit tired in their too. My partner was a member, and isn't coming back.

Fantastic experience: I love this hotel. I was a huge fan of it before they rebranded and am lucky enough to be a member. I've stayed here several times and I love the rooms, the balcony and the sauna shower. Service is always top-notch and the staff are always accommodating.

Negative experience: I had a conversation sceduled with memebership and never heard anything back. There was no email saying that they can't be on the call. Very disrespectfull of my time. Good start!

Fantastic experience: Amazing place... In the room you have everything you need for your stay. Beds are so comfortable... 100 % for beds. Wow... Public areas look very stylish and keep you feeling comfortable and welcome... The food is so good... When you are eating - already thinking when I can come for next time...

Fantastic experience: Always enjoy my time at this club, the service is impeccable and all the staff are excellent. In particular I recommend Altitude for an early breakfast. Much better than most of the other clubs I visit. Thank you Curtain Club.

Negative experience: Disappointed! We booked the Curtain, due to Covid they cancelled the reservation and said I was not due a refund but could book at a later time. Now they are not answering phone and I’ve been contacted that they are insolvent. Watch out, don’t book with them!

Fantastic experience: My partner and I had originally stayed at this hotel for one night and were slightly disappointed with a few missing ammeneties/broken things and the receptionists, especially given the high cost of a room per night. We left a review detailing this. After seeing my partner's review, the hotel offered to invite my partner over as their guest to make up for this. They informed him that they'd be giving us an upgraded room and breakfast. When we arrived the reception staff was different to last time and were very friendly this time and provided us with all the essential information as well as letting us know that we had been given the best room in the hotel. Also the second lift was fixed. We had The Curtain Suite on the 4th floor. We were very impressed with the size and decor of the room. Sophisticated bachelor-pad style with brown leathers, copper, and dim lights, and it was larger than most London flats. Absolutely stunning, with a bath in our room overlooking Shoreditch! The manager had left my partner a hand written note wishing us a nice stay and a small bottle of prosecco and muffins. We thought that was a nice extra touch and that it was quite obvious that they were genuinely trying to give us a better stay and cared for us being happy. Everything that the room needed was there plus more, such as a whole cocktail making set and various premium alcohols and snacks. Very clean, very comfortable. The Rooftop bar is sweet-looking, with vines hanging from the ceiling and huge windows on one side and the ceiling. Cocktails are about £9, and were quite delicately flavoured. You can see the lit up pool from the bar. Our room had a turn-down whilst we were at the bar, including prepping our beds, closing curtains, and setting water by our bedside tables, which we thought was great. We swam in the pool in the morning and it was great fun even though there were high winds which made getting out of it freezing cold. Breakfast was a standard buffet English breakfast, with option of cereals and oats with fresh fruit too. We were happy with the meal. We appreciated the management wanting to invite us over to have a better experience than we had before, even though they didn't have to. And the touch of giving us such an extraordinary room made it evident that they wanted to have happy guests. It was much appreciated and this stay was a success.

Positive experience: I love the Venue, I just had a bad experience when I was walking around looking for the toilets and a member of staff stopped me and asked me where I was going and I just felt like it was asked in quite a hostile way. I experienced this with two other members of staff. which was suprising to me because it seems like a genuinely friendly place because of everyone else

Positive experience: Nice rooms. Very nice bathrooms. Just one of those hotels which doesn't like to like daylight, or any light. So dark everywhere.

Fantastic experience: The Curtain is a hip & posh boutique hotel in one of the coolest neighbours in town. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable, they provide you with every amenity needed (and then some!) It would be great to spend a weekend here with friends. We'll be back for sure!

Positive experience: Amazing hotel in London with very classy atmosphere and furniture. The hotel staff are really friendly. The hotel has a pool though its in front of the restaurant at top floor. You are going to be exposed every guest at the roof restaurant. The room size are quite good and great room accommodation. The hotel is bit expensive but it worth it

Fantastic experience: Hands down my favorite hotel in London. The location is solid, the lobby is clean and the staff is friendly. The rooms, where do I begin? The bed is comfortable, the minibar is fantastic (even if I didn’t necessarily drink anything, but definitely one of the more impressive minibars I’ve seen). The bed is super comfortable, the fact that each room has Bluetooth speakers is a game changer, the bathroom was amazing, the showers in particular.

Fantastic experience: I came here for the first time on Valentine’s Day for an Anti-Valentines Cabaret show. The evening was incredible. From the door staff to the bar staff, they were all lovely and easy going and seemed happy to be there. They welcomed us in and we sat in the downstairs bar area which I think was members only too, me not being a member. We had a round of very nice and very well priced drinks and the evening was incredible. The show was extremely entreating and again the drinks throughout the night were quick to be served and well priced. From what I experienced I would definitely consider becoming a member.

Positive experience: In particular the bathroom was incredible with an integrated steam room, but unfortunately compared to other hotels the 250+ pounds for a single night stay without any included breakfast or extras for a standard room is simply too much for what you receive. Great location in Shoreditch.

Positive experience: Nice and very comfortable rooms. Basement bar very fun as is roof. Steam shower a bit of a gimmick. Lower floors have traffic / street noise.

Positive experience: 40th birthday first stay that we had to complain about for unimpressive service and felt like you were being sold to for every scrap. At £360+ you expect a few special stand out touches. Great customer service to follow up my complaint though. Second return visit. Lovely stay. Much improved since first time. Friendly check in. Lovely room. Much better layout, less oppressive. Great breakfast. Lovely members bar though £55 for 4 drinks was rather excessive! Loved the carrot cake and glass champagne on arrival and it's a shame that a small but lovely touch like this had to only come following a complaint. It would be nice to have it clearer that the drinks trolley promoting a cocktail without a price tag, is actually infact not inclusive. It implies that! Overall much improved. Great night sleep. Lovely quality breakfast. Helpful receptionist. Thank you!

Positive experience: Proposed to m6 girlfriend at this hotel, used the roof top terrace to propose and the staff were very kind and proactive in making this a wonderful experience. Provided complimentary perks to help me and my fiance have a enjoyable experience. Rooms were very nice and the bathroom is amazing. Parking just outside free on Saturday after 1pm and free Sundays. The breakfast was very nice as well. Price is on the heavy side but it is worth the money for special occasions. Leon was who I dealt with and he was very helpful.

Fantastic experience: The hotel went out of their way to change my mind. My first impression was not great, luckily my second was nothing like it. Staff were super friendly and pro-active. The room was quite something, well designed, a little dark but very interesting and well stocked. The amenities were very good. The whole experience was comfortable and effortless, the rooftop pool a little cold but what can you expect this time of year with the insane winds. Tasty cocktails on the roof with a great view and a very well rounded buffet breakfast.

Negative experience: This review is more so for the private members club which is part of The Curtain hotel It is safe to say this is one of the worst private members clubs I have ever had the displeasure of being apart of. I am not even sure where to start, the face that most of the staff are incompetent, patronising humans or the lack of communication between departments? Or the Director, who was clearly out of their depth and had no idea how to speak to a member in a professional manner. Even the gym condition (which always had issues with machines out of use). The manager at Imperial who thinks its okay to point and give sass to customers? This establishment is beyond a joke, and the way in which they treat other members is shocking. They have no sense of real customer service when issues arise and are mostly a bunch of inexperienced individuals who should not be in those positions, they are in. The lack of communication between the hotel and member club is apparent. Since I terminated my contract, I have had many other friends who have been treating in shocking ways and are also looking to leave. If I was to be called ‘babe’ or ‘hun’ in a patronising tone once more from the Director or staff in that place I would have lost the plot! Whoever owns this place needs to take a GOOD look at what fools they have running it. Avoid at all costs. I will never go back, and neither will my friends.

Fantastic experience: Fun hotel with great rooftop spot—service is slow, but views and food hit the spot. Tried their lower level restaurant as well—good and would return, but not wowed...especially with some of the other more eclectic choices in the neighborhood.

Positive experience: I tend to stay at The Curtain when travelling for business in London. It’s in a great location East and quite reasonably priced. Breakfast is always a highlight with some great choices from the buffet as well as a la carte. The gym is a good size and has a Peloton for those who partake. Twin room is a good size for 1 guest, any smaller feels a bit a bit tight. Bed is super comfy.

Positive experience: Cannot fault the hotel- great staff, great design. The soundproofing in the bedrooms is not great. If you on are on the first floor you can hear the music from the bar until about 1. Then our neighbours got back at 3 and had a party in their room until 6. Security do tell them to be quiet but we could still hear them. So 3 hours sleep isn't great!

Positive experience: We went here for our 10th Anniversary on 23rd Dec 2019. We had a lovely evening. However we didn’t expect the film to start right on 7:30 pm as we where a about five minutes late due to train issues. We where hoping they would let you get settled in first and start the film at 8pm. We didn’t have much information about it really! We assumed it was going to be outside as they advertised it with the outside swimming pool but it was so beautiful inside. We did feel they should have turned the fairy lights off that where at the front near the screen tho apart from this we had an enjoyable evening for our 10th Anniversary we will probably be back if they doing anymore cinema events. You should definitely go to experience it. One more tip the drinks are obviously a bit on the expensive side but you do receive a free glass of champagne so that was lovely. ( It was in with the deal )

Fantastic experience: Rooftop Pool with a nice view and great food. Service is impeccable and fast. I went there with friends for a brunch, we stayed the whole afternoon by the pool with cocktails in hands. We did have a great time. We were able to book a table because one of our friend is a curtain's member so I cannot comment on the hotel experience other than the restaurant.

Negative experience: This hotel only cares about your money , I had my car directly parked outside the hotel In a bay and it was smashed through the window and had things stolen from inside . Do not park your car at this hotel clearly their security isn’t doing their job and don’t expect an apology or any refund from the hotel either . They didn’t even offer to help clean up all the glass so my girlfriend could get on our way but after repeated request they gave my girlfriend A dust pan and brush . This hotel for not care about their guests and for £400 a night I would spend your money elsewhere to a hotel that would care. Apparently this has happened many times so If this is an inside job with staff giving details on customers cars parked outside and security turning a blind eye we will find out !

Positive experience: Went for work Xmas party. Surprisingly good food, decent wine, polite and professional staff and a really good DJ - he even scratched into mixes. Proceeded to lose my sh!t on the dancefloor. Bit awks next day in office tbf.

Positive experience: Booked the Halfeti Christmas 2 for 1 for £35 which is only available Thursdays and Sundays. Really liked the Green room and it’s decor and the lovely scent. Our afternoon tea was yummy apart from the oddly spiced chocolate tart (maybe just my tastebuds) and was very filling. The comfy seating also made the experience more relaxing and also very instagramable! The location is a stones throw from Shoreditch and Liverpool st station.

Positive experience: Room and stay was good, but unsure as to why you pay a £50.00 deposit and have to then chase the hotel to have this refunded (still awaiting a response). This should be refunded up on departure. Positive experience: Styish and very comfortable. Well located for a night out in the heart of Shoreditch. Rooftop pool is very cool. Shame we didn't get to use it as it closed at 10 despite reception telling us it was open until midnight. 3 bars open into the early hours. We hung out in Billy's bar in the basement. Great place to chill at the end of a long night.

Negative experience: The lady at the reception was so rude. I arrived for an event, that the entrance was through the side of the building, I didn't easily noticed that entrance, cause I saw a restaurant, didn't know it belong to them also. When I cam back to ask her, to be sure she started laughing like yeah it's through there. I was so upset with how she mocked me, I mentioned this at the event, and someone else mentioned also how rude the girl at the reception was.

Negative experience: I purchased a massage as a gift for a friend couple of months ago and when I came to book an appointment last week I was told that the company who does the treatment has changed. The Curtain didn’t even have the courtesy to inform me of this change and I only found out when I tried to book an appointment that I could not get the treatment I paid for in advance! I have never been so embarrassed and my friend who I bought the gift for was not impressed. I still have not received a refund. Do not book Spa treatment at The Curtain as you don’t get what you paid for.

Positive experience: My partner and I loved our stay at the Curtain. The breakfast was epic, the roof pool is so warm, the steam shower in the bedroom was such an experience. The room service was also fantastic. The staff are lovely - they even welcomed us with a treat as it was our anniversary. Only a couple of downsides - I felt that the extra money I paid for a city room was a waste of time, the view was just of the neighbouring office building and not a view of the actual city at all. The towels were a bit old and scratchy and there was nowhere to effectively dry them. I know I could have got more but was trying to be a bit energy efficient and not wasteful. Overall loved it and will be back!

Fantastic experience: A friend is a member and they took me here for lunch at their Lido bar on the roof. The views of the city are fabulous and the food really good too. I had the crab on toast and I'd highly recommend it. It was so good I couldn't resist a cheeky side of chips too!

Positive experience: Good and bad at this trendy Hackney hotel. Courtyard rooms small and a little noisy. Seems a bit understaffed - service can be slow, especially in the bar. Room service team exceptional, doing a very nice in-room breakfast that's not too pricey. Some good amenities but everything a little bit expensive for what you get. Good for a night if you're out and about in East London.

Fantastic experience: I'd never heard of the Curtain until a few days ago when it was recommended to me by a friend. What a great venue. It has a really diverse feel across its range of bars and open spaces. I didn't get chance to sample the food while I was there but I'm definitely going to return. The whole of Iook and feel the pace was just different enough to the run-of-the-mill clubs you find in London. The staff were super friendly and the Hotel facilities looked excellent.

Fantastic experience: Great attention to details. Well equipped minibar and entertainment options. USB ports etc. Personal steam room was a nice touch. Nearby amenities are creative, trendy, modern. Upstairs the breakfast buffet is a must. Bring your swimming kit! There are towels and the pool is heated on the terrace. There is also access to a private members club 3 floors below ground level. Comfy sofas, cosy environment.

Negative experience: Lovely place but just about the worst service I've ever received. From trying to check in, through not getting served at the Rooster to waiting +1hr for a kids burger despite complaining about 4 times. Pathetic considering the price

Fantastic experience: On the rooftop are a restaurant, bar, open area and pool with south facing aspect. They are excellent. Best seating is beside the pool, back to restaurant, facing south. The avocado and egg on toast and the spicy bloody Mary's are very good. Bedrooms are not large but decor is excellent and the mini bar is decent. They need to change the methods to cast from phone to TV (eg a Google dongle to replace Miracast). Red Rooster restaurant on ground floor has a strong reputation.

Positive experience: The hotel is advertised as 5-star. I’m guessing this is because the layout of the rooms is unique. And it is. I’ll give it that. But. Reception was slow and unwelcoming. I was given an accessible room even after I told the front desk person that I didn’t want that when she asked me. The pool was cluttered with dirty glasses and empty wine bottles/holders. I thought the rooftop would be a pleasant experience, but it was a cluster... horrible service. Frozen drinks off the menu. And no towels for the pool. Dangerously crowded. There were other minor things you simply catch eye of in a place where the expectation has been established, a rushed knock at the door, for instance, where the room attendant quickly unloads 2 water bottles and a small box of half melted chocolates. And they, indeed, add up. I’d like to think more is expected from a place with this kind of rating. But to me, the value simply isn’t there. It’s average. Update: luke warm shower as well. Just disappointed overall.

Positive experience: I am a member here, the club is great with good facilities and a friendly atmosphere. The only negative is that you are not allowed your own food or drink in there and it is costs £4 for a coffee and £18 for a burger! They would be a 5 star, if they could make their food and drink prices cheaper or if you didn't told off by the Food Police for eating a cereal bar in the building...

Positive experience: Positives first- Great amenities with a bar, gym, food, two restaurants, etc. Negative- primarily, what do you go to a hotel for? To sleep and relax. From your room, you will hear music blaring from the restaurant below from Wednesday to Saturday night until 11:30pm. I went for a work trip so this was a bit distracting.!

Fantastic experience: Currently staying in this fabulous property, the style and attention to details are simply amazing. The place is extremely stylish. This is not a cheap hotel but God is it good, from the steam room in the shower cabin to the roof top swimming pool-bar. The lot is absolutely out of this world. Positive experience: It was a lovely hotel and friendly staff but unfortunately there's a very loud late night bar which we could hear from our room.. the pool area was small and cramped so we didn't have breakfast or lunch up there and seemed to be full of people who weren't staying at the hotel.

Positive experience: This place is both a hotel and a members club. I went there as I'm thinking about getting a membership, so unfortunately I can't tell you about the hotel rooms. I can tell you about the rest of the place as we were given a guided tour of the whole members section. There are 3 bars in total.. one on the roof (which hotel guest also have access to) which also has a small pool for members and guests. You can also eat up there and it has a retractable roof, so it's open all year round. The green room - this is open to the public as well. It's quite large and we'll appointed and is next door to the Red Rooster restaurant. I don't think they serve food in the bar though. The last bar is called Billy's and this is members only. It has lots of seating on comfortable chairs and Chesterfields in various sized groupings. There is an extensive drinks menu and there is table service. We stayed in this bar after our tour and had a couple's of drinks. It was busy but not crowded, which was great. There is also a mini club for members. I was told that they hold regular nights there. There is also a gym that is accessible by members and hotel guests. I'm not a gym person, so I can't say how good it is. For members there are a few areas dedicated for work. One is a studio style setup with coffee and snacks available. There is a large boardroom style place where you can have bigger, private meetings if you need. Oh there is also a cinema here too. The person showing us around said that they have regular film nights and also show sports in it. Overall it looks like quite a nice place, but we're still looking at other members clubs in the area before we make a decision on one.

Fantastic experience: Had a great few drinks on this hard to access rooftop bar which has a small pool on the outside. Cocktails and good are great and the service is very attentive and professional. Fantastic experience: A comfy lobby, a steam shower, a rooftop Lido and a Marshall Amps speaker on my bedside table are a few great ingredients to a hotel. Service in the rooftop bar in the evening wasn't spot on, but it was great in the morning. I got the dinky warm pool to myself for my morning swim, could their be a better start to the day in Shoreditch? I doubt it. I will happily return.

Positive experience: Not really a 5* hotel by most standards. Their ‘pool’ is more of a water feature than anything fictional, rooms are boxy (as you might expect from a London hotel in fairness) and roof terrace bar had a menu of uninspiring beverages and is usually dead as a door nail. Positives: staff were helpful, location is good and the ground floor bar is lively and has an eclectic menu.

Thank you for your honest review Ali. I am disappointed to hear we couldn't make your stay memorable. Our pool is designed for our guests and members to have a drink and relax, I am sorry if you felt wronged when you booked with us. I am surprised to read that our rooftop bar was dead as it has been busy all summer. Regarding our room sizes, our junior suites and suites are pretty big rooms, maybe these would suit you best if you want to visit us again :) We hope we will be welcoming you in the future so we can make this future stay a memorable one! Fantastic experience: Really cool and chic hotel. Great upstairs dining area with outside heated pool - along with the nice decor there is a cinema, private members area and night club within this establishment. Very very cool and worth a visit - it is a private members hotel please note

Negative experience: Stayed at the Curtain on a StayCation website deal - we booked a City Room for a Sunday night. Upon arrival at 3.30pm we were told to wait in the lobby as our booking wasn't processed. We waited for a bit, maybe 10 mins or so. We then asked if we could go and get some food on the rooftop. We had lunch on the rooftop was which ok. We then went back to reception, asked about our reservation. It was still not processed, so I had to fill in a form. I filled in the form and we were given our keys to our room. We went to our room and found it was a Courtyard Room which overlooks a noisy bar/restaurant and lots of other rooms. I went back to reception, waited 15 minutes to talk to a manger who insisted that he was correct until I showed him our email confirmation. 10 minutes later our room was changed, but it wasn't actually ready. I waited in reception for 5 minutes. I then gave up and said call me in our room when the room is ready. I went back to the room. Waited 10 minutes. Went back to reception and waited another 5 minutes before eventually getting the keys. At no stage in the process above did anyone working at The Curtain apologize or offer anything for the inconvenience caused. We eventually got into our room at nearly 5pm. This is not acceptable from a 5* hotel, they could've easily said have a drink at the Bar on the house. The difference between a Courtyard and City Room is huge, the Courtyard Rooms are extremely cramped and I would've not paid the £280+ asking price without a deal. The room itself was average at best and felt a little outdated and cramped, the bathroom had a barn style door which had huge gaps either side of the frame and didn't close.The best bit was the bed which was a King size. We went for lunch on the rooftop bar, but the menu wasn't exactly inspiring for a so called 5* hotel. The pool is a lot bigger in the photos, and with all the tables lined up alongside it, you would feel self-conscious using it with lunch guests staring at you behind a wall of glass. The Buffet breakfast in the morning was average and they charged extra for coffee with any type of foamed milk which I felt was a little unfair. I used the gym the following morning which was nice with lots of new equipment. Overall our experience really lacked for a 5*. This hotel is probably more of a 3* and could do with better staff-guest management.

Positive experience: Venue was quite dark and difficult to navigate however the receptionist and staff seemed helpful in pointing us in the right direction. Went here for an event so cannot speak of more than one room.

Fantastic experience: Was here for an event and what a lovely touch for the events manager to take the time to welcome us and offer a tour of the building and the facilities it has to offer. Truly a world within with the services it offers to stimulate the body mind and soul! Staff were friendly and helpful too

Negative experience: Window in room would not seal correctly, constant draught, making sleeping uncomfortable. Room overlooked side street where both nights of our stay we were woken by drunks shouting and fighting outside. Hotel location is good if you want to go into central London.

Fantastic experience: I liked the fact that there are folds of private spaces and it can accommodate various small acts. Stylish interiors and good use of colours. Tile work is amazing
