Fantastic experience: I go four times a week, I like everything very much, good atmosphere, excellent professional team.

Negative experience: ya can't even takes the kids to the pool

Negative experience: Trying to contact reception is impossible ,I called NLC and got through to Kilkeel, all I want to know is if the pool has reopened after a very long closure, Kilkeel rec didn't know they said to call NLC which is pathetically impossible. I tried the website, it still has the old info about covid opening dates but nothing up to date. Does anyone in the council keep the website up to date ? Before the pool was closed for maintenance I took the children there on a regular basis but more often we went to Lisburn where the slides are actually open, NLC has 1 slide that is rarely open. No cafe !! The reviews are ancient! No shop ! There's a storeroom in the pool area full of noodles, armbands, swim boards etc but they're not for public use, lol .

Positive experience: Visited for a meeting. A large clean building. Very helpful reception staff. Sat nav takes you to main gate which is not used, you have to enter by Cecil Street, rerouting necessary.

Negative experience: During covid, I put in a request to cancel as I wasn't getting the use! They advised to pause the account, and I can start it back up whenever I wished. They made it sound so simple which persuaded me into doing so as it seemed like the easiest option... they automatically restarted it 2 months later without notification and it ended up being 200 odd pound out of my account over the next year or so. Asked them to help me put in a request to have this credited onto my account or refunded, and they said that it was my fault for not looking at my bank balance and that I should have noticed earlier.. it was coming out of my santander account which went into overdraft. Ended up with a rake of bank charges also as a result. I thought I'd all outgoings sorted on that account, so I never really looked at it from then on in as I thought that was all out goings finished and the bank account was effectively dormant. Sent email after email and called god knows how many times but was just plainly ignored to the point where i just give up which seemingly was their hope. I'm just generally fed up of the center now and the way in which its being run (into the ground) so requested the forms to cancel my account so myself and my other half will be over shortly with them. Avoid!

Negative experience: Learner pool closed for the last three months due to 'maintenance issues'. Not good enough for the price we are expected to pay for the pool. If the learner pool is closed this should be clearly advertised frequently. Putting a message up on Facebook in October and then saying at reception in december 'it's on Facebook that its closed' is not good enough. Place could also do with a good clean. - its grim!

Negative experience: Mens changing area is disgusting - I can still see stains that were there when I joined. Management often decide to close long before advertised closing time, which should be unacceptable but why bother focusing on good customer service when you can just take the tax payer for mugs instead? It would be one star only the gym facilities are actually quite good and plenty of space/equipment.

Negative experience: I have to express my disappointment with booking system. There is an app to book courts but for some reason Badminton is not listed there so you need to call in to book it. Apparently you cannot book more than 8 days in advance but it seems this depends on a person on the other side. 1 lady will book you in another will refuse... terrible service. I am trying to call their 2 numbers and the line drops straight away, seems they have their phone switched off... how am I supposed to book the court ?? I am calling the 3rd number the one that is advertised on Google and there is NEVER an answer and I would be calling 10 times per day morning and afternoon... so it seems nobody is bothering to answer the phone....This is very poor service

Positive experience: Went around 7pm, awfully busy, kids lessons, very loud. Usually fine the rest of the day, plenty of space to swim.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this place, it is new, modern, the facilities are top notch and there is loads of space. All of the gym equipment is fitted with monitoring systems and can set up your workouts based on gender, age and weight and experience. Left PureGym for this and definitely worth it.

Fantastic experience: Excellent kid's pool with plenty of room and depths to suit all ages/abilities. Jacuzzi/sauna area also for the adults as well as the large main pool. Also has the indoor soft play area for the kids which makes it a morning or afternoon out.

Negative experience: For a newly built swimming pool it's a bit of a disaster. The water and air temperature are always cold and the floors are always slippery. How hard could it be to install nonslip flooring in a public pool? The staff are a dreary bunch, especially the reception staff who sit behind a Perspex screen and mumble incoherently at you. Even though I'm a Newry resident and pay for this facility from my rates bill, I tend to go to Lisburn pool instead. This place really needs an overhaul and needs to employ staff who appear to give a care about their customers. Badly managed and badly planned public facilities. Hygiene is a real issue, looks like nobody working there actually cleans the place.

Negative experience: Recent visits to the pool have been disappointing. The showers and changing facilities are filthy and in need of a deep clean. We visited the kids soft play area and it was filthy too. The aroma tells me there had been at least one toilet-related accident that hadn't been cleaned properly (stale urine), and the floors and play surfaces were disgusting. NMDC are well enough funded by rate payers, and subsidised by entry fees to the leisure centre and other facilities in our communities. This facility, like so many others in Newry, is a good reflection on how the council operates. Leadership and competent management is severely lacking.

Negative experience: Myself, daughters and granddaughter went this evening to the pool,worst evening ever, pool water freezing, changing rooms and showers filthy and cold not the first time this has happened,staff need to be taught in what it takes to keep these areas clean

Fantastic experience: Brilliant.. it was a tone up a special occasion.. swim and fitness room .. staff were fantastic.. and Mr O hare in the fitness room was a real motivation ..He was able to guide me.. and give me a program that suited my age and pace ... months spent and well worth it ...

Fantastic experience: Definitely would recommend changing the rules for print outs of barcodes when booking swimming online. Very confusing and not needed when you get there. I had never been here before so I didn't know this and last minute was running around looking for a printer . This was explained by the friendly receptionist otherwise staff friendly and enjoyed my experience here.

Positive experience: It is what it is can, be busy to the point of not being able to swim. The same goes for the health suite, and sometimes cleanliness can be an issue.

Positive experience: Pool and health suit I had one visit because of all the positives I heard about this place. I only used pool and health suit. The pool is of a good size and the room is very spacious, great for families. The water in the pool is the cleanest I've ever seen in a pool and the filtering system is very quiet underwater so that's an easy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The sauna is spacious and hot. I'd say another ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Jacuzzi is massive. Steam room was out of order but cold shower is clean and cold so that's good. Quite busy.

Positive experience: The facilities are first class and probably amoung the best ireland/uk for something in the community. The staff are great and the prices good also. The only let down is a lack of organisation at reception trying to access the facilities. There appears to be two desks but no organisation with what seems like a first come first serve basis even if people have lengthy enquiries meaning you could be waiting up to 20 minutes and may miss gym/ swim time especially if you run on a schedule. The phones do not appear to be maned at all and i have never sucessfully had the phone answered despite trying numous times in the day.

Negative experience: The pool changing and showers are extremely unclean. It is a disgrace !! A new facility like this is getting a bad review due to poor hygiene. I do tNot understand why there is not a cleaning rota. On one occasion my 6 year Old nephew wouldn’t go in to one of the showers because it was so dirty clumps of hair on the wall. And as for one of the life guards. He needs to be taught some manners shouting and telling a young 6 year old that doing a jump n a twirl that they could have there throat cut. Very inappropriate this guy spoke to me like I was 16 year old Juvenal when in fact I’m probably old to be is dad. I like to see the accident report book to see how such a thing is even possible. In fact not just finishing with a bad review I am taking it further

Positive experience: Gym was good. Pool always seemed to be closed on short notice and found some staff at front desk not very helpful and one a bit rude. Sole reason for leaving and returning to pure gym. Not worth the money.

Fantastic experience: I've used public swimming pools all over Ireland, France and England and this facility is by far, the best I've used. Firstly, the value for money. It is excellent value for money in comparison to all other centres I've used in UK and Ireland. Secondly, the swimming pool and dressing area was very clean. The jacuzzi was innovative with recliner styled seat. The waterfall shower in the jacuzzi gave a massage effect which was very relaxing. The sauna and steam rooms were twice as large as I experienced anywhere. The resting seats were also innovative. None of the sports centres in the South of Ireland, that I have used (either public or private), can compare to this place. The staff were also friendly. All in all, I'll give this place a resounding 5 stars and I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Positive experience: Went yesterday with my family to the pool and was told that there was a half hour wait. I was okay with this but when I went into the pool there was hardly anyone in it. 4 people in the big pool and about 15 in the smaller kids end. I looked around and there were 5 life guards This is the second time it has happened to me and I just don't understand why there is a wait.
