Fantastic experience: Been going for a whole month now and would definitely recommend it, esp for first-timers going to the gym! I haven’t been in the gym for a few years and the staff are friendly and helpful. Plenty of equipments and machines (never had to wait to use one so far), always clean too : )

Fantastic experience: The best gym in Colchester in my opinion the gym staff are very good,professional friendly coming up with great ideas every month superb and plenty of equipment to use.

Positive experience: The gym equipment is a little dated but does the job! Staff are friendly and supportive. Other users are also friendly. If you can get there during the day, it's usually quite quiet which is fab. I try to go between midday and 3pm during the week.

Fantastic experience: Been going here for the last 3 months and can't really fault it. I go 3-5 times a week. Loads of resistance training equipment, very heavy dumbells, 3 squat racks/cages and more than enough cardio machines. I usually go between 9am and 2pm and its never too busy. No one bothers you and everyone seems to stick to rules of putting weights back and wiping down benches etc. I think I pay about £32 per month which isn't super cheap but it is a decent gym. There's always someone cleaning and the place is kept pretty spotless. If I could make one recommendation would be a 2nd cable pulley and a 2nd stairmaster! Other than that it's perfect for me!

Fantastic experience: I really like my anytime fitness membership as I bounce between the Colchester tollgate and Witham gyms. The tollgate one has more equipment than Witham and has a wider ranger of barbells which I prefer and the parking is straight forward, no time limits or checking in. I also never struggle to use the equipment I want to use, it's never too busy.

Positive experience: Just got back from winning the British masters classic powerlifting championships. Normally train in clacton but my training partner vic lives in Chelmsford now so we met up at Colchester being halfway. Had a great workout . Nice gym ,good equipment and nice private showers ,what more could you want

Fantastic experience: Been a member for many years with moderate attendance. Was initially a bit hesitant to return for 2020 reasons. But so far, after a couple of visits I'm really happy with it. Plenty of cleaning materials provided, not too busy, other members generally keeping their distance and being courteous. Equipment availability and selection is fantastic. I should add that I'm mostly trying to visit during off-peak times, so please take my not busy comment with caution. Staff have always been real helpful, friendly and amazing, so never any complaints there. I recommend.

Positive experience: It's a gym. I pay but don't have the time to go. Don't like the places as I feel very conscious due to excessive mirror use in the place.

Positive experience: My son frequents the facility. He reckons it has great equipment. Being open 24/7 is a bonus but at peak times it does get busy and there may be times you have to wait to use the item you want.

Negative experience: Decent equipment but very down in the dumps club manager. Good opening hours & pt staff however.

Positive experience: Nice place, gets busy like any gym at peak times but cheap compared to others and being able to use any club is a bonus!

Negative experience: 'Terrible customer service. Two things. Firstly I was verbally told that they would cancel the membership immediately if I moved and not to worry about that aspect of the contract. This is NOT the case so the Colchester branch had not told me the correct information. Basic customer service would dictate that for the sake of £30 that they should honour what they said but absolutely not. Secondly, I then saw other reviews that said that sometimes they didn't action cancellations so I then (grudgingly) paid off the rest of my entire contract by card in the gym and cancelled my direct debit. Despite cancelling my membership and paying in advance they then set up ANOTHER direct debit without my authorisation (which I'm pretty sure is not even legal) and took even more money that wasn't even part of the original contract. I then had to spend a long time on the phone to the bank to recover that money. I think I've now had that extra month's membership back so now there is only one month's membership that in my opinion I shouldn't have had to pay. To be honest they made it sound like it was entirely my fault and that there was nothing I could do about it. The manager blamed an ex-member of staff for the error of telling me you could cancel immediately but offered no actual help.'

Fantastic experience: Moved house so needed a new gym and have been a member for a couple of months and although not a spit and sawdust gym that I'd been used to, has everything you need for resistance training and cardio with a friendly atmosphere. Always busy but nobody bothers you, you can just get on with your workout. Friendly helpful staff also.

Positive experience: This is an excellent gym - if you are old school and want free weights with a decent mix of top class machines and you don't want to be bothered by continued badgering then this is the place. The anytime aspect is great - there are always people here - i have trained at 1 in the morning and there were still 3 people there! Loads of free parking, relaxed atmosphere, no one bothers you - A+
