Retford Leisure Centre

Negative experience: Lessons are always cancelled and they refuse to refund for the services they are unable to provide. When there is a lesson on the changing rooms are filthy. I have sent scores of emails trying to get this sorted but receive no response or acknowledgement.

Fantastic experience: I have been referred to the centre for medical reasons. I will admit that I was sceptical about going back to a leisure centre but have found that Retford is an exception. The staff are very welcoming and I have found that going back is definitely a positive experience. The equipment and facilities appear to be good and well maintained and I am looking forward to regular of the centre. Hopefully you will find that you have a good experience when you attend this centre.

Negative experience: Constantly cancelling swimming lessons. They will cancel 50% of your swimming lessons and refuse to refund. Beware and use the better swim schools in the area

Negative experience: If I was to rate this place on the staff alone it would be 5*....the gym is well ran and a friendly atmosphere... the laned swimming is a free for all ..I was lucky in that I had a friend who told me the etiquette of laned swimming which was fortunate because Once your past the door no one gives a chuff...I guess it's typical of laned swimming I did try to ask about the numbers allowed in once but it was obviously falling on deaf ears I mean I'm just a regular paying customer once they have my money I suppose I lose the right to raise a concern

Positive experience: This has a well equipped gym with a selection of classes as well as the pool. The staff are helpful. I only have two whinges. Number 1 Membership is pretty expensive even if you are sent via referral £30+ and 2 not enough aquasize classes. There are lots of people with joint problems and they definitely need a fairer system than wait by the phone and pounce for a space

Negative experience: Constantly cancelling swimming lessons. Once we had an email saying they hadn't received our payment so had cancelled our lessons and we had to join the waiting list again. This was their fault, but took it out on us. Then they've cancelled kids swimming lessons this Sunday and are refusing to refund for the lessons they can't carry out.. We've now had ANOTHER lesson cancelled and absolute radio silence from the company. I've emailed, messaged, left reviews for sites within the chain and it's all on deaf ears. Try somewhere else for your child's swimming lessons - Swimstars, Worksop Dolphins, there are plenty of options This was a year ago and it's still the same: We only ever use the pool, so can't comment about the gym etc. But the changing rooms are always filthy - mud, grass, plasters, wads of hair etc We've never been to use the pool and the changing rooms are clean

Positive experience: Good leisure centre but the viewing gallery for the pool is poor. Not very well designed at all.

Positive experience: Clean in the pool and locker rooms. Not over crowded during lap swimming or family swim. The chlorine level wasn't too bad either. Normally my eyes sting for ages afterwards but I was able to swim for an hour without goggles with only mild mistiness. Reasonably priced.

Fantastic experience: I take my grandson to his swimming lessons. I sit and watch in the spectators gallery. There are lots of seats but l have only seen one area where a wheelchair could go

Fantastic experience: A modern leisure centre which has many facilities. There is a two- storey gym with lots of equipment, membership is very reasonably priced. One to one help for those who have a health condition with their GP's approval. There is a 25m swimming pool as well as a smaller pool at a slightly higher temperature which is used for starter lessons as well as public swimming. The 25m pool is also used for swimming lessons as well as public swimming, laned swimming for more advanced swimming and aqua fitness classes. Changing rooms have individual cubicles as well as group male and group female rooms, showers, toilets plus dedicated toilets for disabled which are also available in main foyer and upstairs foyer. Access to sauna is via the changing rooms. The 25m pool is also used for competitions held by Retford Swimming Club and Bassetlaw Swim Squad and spectator area for these are on the second storey which is accessed via stairs or lift. All reception, gym and teaching staff are friendly and helpful and there are hot and cold drinks and snacks available. When I can get a hot bacon roll it'll be more than perfect.

Positive experience: Very professional, friendly and helpful staff. Something for all levels of fitness, age and activity preference. Some classes get booked up quickly and there is a waiting list. Maybe new or extra classes could be put onto cope with higher demand or facilitate times for different lifestyles. On sunny days the main room upstairs can get very hot, due to the present lack of shade for the sun roof. No lockers upstairs to the best of my knowledge.

Fantastic experience: The new facility is absolutely up to date and a fresh look to it. It's nice and safe with cleaning facilities and good social distancing. Only niggle and it is a small niggle is that because they are using antibacterial spray to clean the mirrors they are really smeared (in the gym and the changing rooms) but I did find a bit of unsmeared mirror for the selfie lol Would recommend this leisure centre gym to anyone and it's nice to see that the staff are helpful and friendly. Still gets 5 stars
