Gym Etc.: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Decent gym been here on and off for years just a shame no jacuzzi, sauna or steam room anymore. But the price reduced compensates the loss still decent gym
Positive experience: Good but 9 Nicki Minaj songs played in a row, please fix the music player.
Fantastic experience: Great trainers there lots of classes everyone very friendly and helpful
Fantastic experience: Great staff, modern equipment, and a fantastic price.
Fantastic experience: Nice friendly and welcoming gym
Positive experience: Would describe this as a gateway gym. Gym Ect Orrell serves a niche demographic for those new to a gym experience or have some form of gym anxiety. It's a small space with limited equipment to serve general fitness. There is a womens only area should you feel this is your current comfort level. Like other chains of the gym ect brand, investment is needed. They have seen some wet side facilities removed which has impacted its offering and competitive standing. The Gym staff however are fantastic. Josh is a long standing staff member who has earned his stripes in his position. Lucys personality and vibe is an asset to the location. Collectively I would rate this 4 stars through a certain lens. Comparatively against their nearest competitors it would be a three. Gym ect Orrell is certainly a small community gym, and plays its part well.
Fantastic experience: Great staff and plenty of classes
Fantastic experience: Best gum around has everything u need everyone is friendly and very welcoming!!!
Fantastic experience: Lovely staff in there are always happy to help you
Fantastic experience: Great gym facilities, pool area my favourite, just a bit too much chloride in the jacuzzi but over all well worth the membership
Negative experience: This gym is terrible. The floor is so small and there is not enough equipment. I selected this gym because i like to use the sauna, literally one week after signing up the sauna and jacuzzi was out of service, when i asked why i was told it was broke only to find out that they closed the sauna and jacuzzi to cut down on costs. So i decided to remove my membership, so i sent an email in and i got a snotty email back that i need to pay the last month payment before i cancel. Ok fair enough, but the gym took over £20 out of my account when my payment was suppose to be £18. Terrible i would not recommend this place to any one
Positive experience: Joined the orrell gym as its local, but joined it on the understanding we could use other locations 30 times per year.We used the Leyland one a few times then went to try the one at Lowton. When we got there we were told it was now chargeable. Went back to orrell one and pointed out this was why we had joined and they were now changing their t&c Was told the manager would be in touch on the Monday. Never heard from her until the Tues saying she doesn't work Mondays. A few heated e mails were exchanged I also pointed out that the membership was now £3 cheaper and was told I could cancel and rejoin on the new price for a further 12 months. Told her no and to cancel my membership there and then and was told it was a 12 month membership. A few more heated e mails were swapped, one where i told her she was mis selling the club and that under the consumer act i had rights. When the 1st arrived my direct debit wasn't taken. I had also asked they cancel my husbands but they didn't. Another e mail sent and his direct debit wasn't claimed the next month. My advice, don't join in the first place but if you do and they change t&c again then don't be fobbed off. Orrell gym doesn't have many machines and some basic ones just dont exist, its full of bits of kids more interested in taking selfies and hogging machines whilst being on their phones and not actually using tge equipment. Leyland gym has a lot more machines however the jacuzzi was full of foam and no smell of chlorine that usually accompanies pool areas. The steam room was lovely, the pool was cold and tge staff on reception looked like they couldn't be bothered.
Fantastic experience: Best gym I have been to. Friendly great atmosphere. Not expensive. Great parking facilities are brilliant
Fantastic experience: Boss place
Positive experience: Nice clean Gym with friendly staff always willing to help & a good atmosphere. Only downside is there's no Pool or Sauna.
Positive experience: Nice swimming pool
Fantastic experience: Going to join
Negative experience: Poor service. Let my son in when they shouldn't have. Changed their minds the next day AFTER I had paid the money. Won't be going back
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff always willing to help good value for money
Fantastic experience: Amazing gym. And even better prices. Smells lean and hygienic. Staff are always there to help. And lioni the manager couldn't be more friendly and Sean and Laura. Thanks guys. :)
Negative experience: This club was one of the best little gyms in Wigan by far, amazing staff, but the club has gone downhill fast, no sauna, steam room, or jacuzzi for over 6 weeks and still out. There's no heating in the changing rooms or the club (in December), so you skip having a shower there, on top of this in the summer they retracted the ability to use other clubs 30 times per year, this was one of the reasons I joined my kids to use the pool at Leyland occasionally, such a shame that this great club has deteriorated so much.
Positive experience: Love love love this gym.Kind and friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym I’ve being going on and off since 2003. I have a couple of gripes the jukebox has done a longer service than Emily (20 years I believe, congrats Emily) it still plays “it’s Chico time”. Another downside is you have to take a padlock to use the lockers it’s 2019 use the £20 annual maintenance fee to upgrade the lockers (and the jukebox). Other than that I highly recommend it, friendly staff and right on my door step.
Fantastic experience: Great place to exercise and train. Brilliant training equipment. Friendly staff and the other gym members are friendly too. Very clean. Shame they don't have a swimming pool but actually there's no room for one. There's a ladies own gym. Brilliant choices of classes. Only one complain is the carpark could be better needs tarmacing otherwise fantastic place A*****
Fantastic experience: Decent facilities at a excellent monthly price
Fantastic experience: Love the fact they have a ladies gym :)
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities
Positive experience: Gym Etc Orrell has been here for years and it offers great value for money for those who want a gym with the added bonus of a hot tub and sauna. It doesn't have a pool unlike their other clubs however you can use membership to access other clubs such as the one in Leyland that has a pool and is twice the price.
Fantastic experience: Home from home, my hiding place.
Fantastic experience: Great little gym n
Fantastic experience: A+
