Fantastic experience: Clean, good equipment, lovely changing rooms with sauna, staff are friendly and helpful, plenty of lockers

Fantastic experience: Nice gym. All equipment are Farley new. Sauna is always working not like other gym's in Barnsley. 100% recommended

Positive experience: 24/7 access is the main attraction. A typical budget gym with adequate equipment, shower, and changing rooms are good. Avoid during busy periods, as waiting time to use needed machines is increased.

Fantastic experience: Good gym but a lot of potholes in the car park

Negative experience: OK gym if you go in daylight hours..and you manage to navigate the minefield of potholes..its beyond a joke now..night time the car park is dimly lit and trying to avoid the potholes bordering on sink holes is nigh on impossible..monthly fee for the gym is acceptable but you run the risk of ££££'s in car repairs just trying to get through the door..

Negative experience: Gym too full, difficult to get on equipment, music too loud when classes on, pot holes in car park, not enough parkingspaces, hot and humid.

Positive experience: Not bad gym

Positive experience: Serves a purpose and isn’t terrible. Smells bad (stale nightclub type), super busy at all times, nobody tidies up the weights and could really do with a bit of a refresh/update. Also car park is shocking, watch out for the pot holes

Negative experience: 30% of treadmills out of order, 25% of bikes out of order. Machine weights missing pins to attach weights, or to adjust seating. This gym was once a good gym but it looks to now be lacking behind the rest. It’s a shame as I will be finding another gym to go to:

Negative experience: Second name for this gym should be “Out of use”. Maybe soon we will go to the toilet, wash and dry our hands in the women's locker room

Positive experience: Great place to go not too busy at any times I have been but the car park needs to be looked at load sof pot hole

Negative experience: Car Park completely ruined - The EV spaces never ever available with ICE cars using the spaces because they are close to doors which is pure lazy as they have gone to a gym!! this is even when the car park almost empty. The equiptment is often broken and the weights not re-racked - peak times the gym is almost completely unusable as groups get on cable machines and use them for hours doing hundreds of variations of sets rather than getting some good sets done and getting off. Staff are decent its the members basically disrespecting the place - needs some serious rules enforcing to bring the gym etiquette upto standard. Big signs up to encourage this perhaps and staff enforcing it. More weight plates are needed for peak hours because they get scattered all over shop and people constantly asking if you are using them or try take them from your machine after youve just done a scavaging mission collecting them. Toilets often blocked and overflowing - again down to awful use from members. Please try sort out the behaviours and enforce/educate users to replace weights or face bans - would be good if the app showed how many users were in gym like purgym does.

Negative experience: Can not believe how much it has gone down hill was clean and inviting when it first opened, now the carpets look gloomy, mens bathroom absolutely disgrace urine all over a did not even dare get a shower there since toilets was in a poor condition. Weight plates scattered all over gym and dumbbell in wrong places on rack, bench material/leather cracked on incline bench machine.

Fantastic experience: Best gym I've been to. Rarely have to wait for things despite being busy, staff are always hard working including the night/cleaning staff.

Positive experience: Plenty of machines to use, never too busy that things aren't available, and most people are just cracking on with getting their sets done. The showers are ok, the timer needs to be longer! Vending machines usually stocked up and machines rarely out of use. The car park is like pot hole city, be careful, JD in general are a bit unclear with the day passes, they aren't available in the gym or online, but customer services on Facebook state the passes should be in the gym. Big credit to the cleaner man, works tirelessly at keeping it tip top! Noticed the etiquette has dropped lately, people leaving 200kg on the leg press! That's down to the clients, maybe more signage will remind people to put the weights back.

Positive experience: Really good gym and well equipped, there are a number of benches, squat racks. The gym would benefit from more cables as due to how busy the gym can get at some points in the day Free weights are all over not in order, they are all mixed up all of the time, I put weights back in the right place where possible however feel this is something staff should try keep in top of instead. Positive experience: Clean spacious, car park needs resurfacing though. And wish the stair climbing machines didn’t have a row of treadmills directly behind you

Negative experience: No running hot water in toilets You need a jeep to get in the carpark there’s that many potholes . Ask for flexible D handles for the cable machine six week ago , still nothing . 3 D handles between 5500 people it’s a joke . 15 year olds running around like it’s a youth club. No supervision due to lack of staff.

Positive experience: Great gym, pleasant staff, good price. Been a member since a few month after opening. Me and the wife pay the + membership which allows us to use any jD gym, which is great. I have given a 3 star rating purely on the extremely poor, bordering dangerous condition of the car park. It’s full of deep pot holes which are undoubtedly damaging members cars. Also is it one way still? Before the car park crumbled away it was clearly marked with arrows indicating a one way system. These are no longer legible. I have seen many near misses due to this. I would give 5 star we’re it not for the car park. I know it has been patched many times, but really needs full refurb. Come on JD Barnsley your members deserve better.

Fantastic experience: Very clean and nice but it needs more equipment always too busy when I go and I end up Leaving and pls is it possible to provide the hip thrust machine

Negative experience: Cold shower in men's changing room still not fixed after nearly 4 weeks.

Negative experience: Play music so after 7pm...no respect for neighbours.. money first

Fantastic experience: Excellent budget gym. Couldn't ask for any more with regards to equipment choice, standard of equipment and cleanliness of the building. Easy access even at night time.

Fantastic experience: Can’t praise the staff enough. I had a cardiac arrest in the gym. Their quick actions saved my life. I was back within weeks and completely back to living a normal life. I have no knowledge of what happened to me. However many gym members witnessed their professionalism. Thank you just isn’t enough. But I will say a massive “Thank you”

Negative experience: Sauna not 24h, changing rooms locked after midnight, not many weight lifting machines, outdated treadmills without multimedia screens, and unbelievable mess in showers area every night - shame as it’s got potential.

Positive experience: I think jd Barnsley is a good gym the team seem nice and professional. But most days I find it hard to get in the equipment I need to use, or there seem to be a lack of weights for the barbells for ke to achieve my goals. Other then that. Not bad

Negative experience: Staff have an attitude and it's a mess. No one is encouraged to put weights away, given the staff leave weights on equipment. When you point out this out to them, their excuse is that everyone does it... Either train staff to put equipment away after use and keep on top of gym or enforce the rules.

Negative experience: Went to gym yesterday 20th February around 9.45pm. I trained till 11pm, then went to get showered. The changing room was absolutely disgusting. Floor was wet and dirty. Empty water bottles littered all over, towel left on floor aswell as socks. The urinal area was filthy toilet roll on floor, and the floor was wet and dirty too. Do not expect this when wanting to take a shower. I think the newness is wearing off.

Fantastic experience: I have only been a member a week and im finding the jd gym in Barnsley head and shoulders above all others when I joined I was left at ease no pressure no obligation the staff are friendly and welcoming always happy to help with any query and always with a smile this goes along with the whole customer clientele who are also very friendly I was worried about starting to train again at 42 but I haven't once felt uneasy on another note the equipment also is top notch I have not one grievance or cannot find any fault at all with the gym as a wholewhat a fantastic experience it is

Fantastic experience: A great gym , the equipment is well maintained and there is always plenty of space . There are different areas for free weights, joggers and weight machines etc Everything is spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and helpful .

Negative experience: Customer service is shocking. Cancelled my membership 5 months ago and have had fees deducted for a membership today. Sadly there is nobody available online or over the phone equipped to handle such a complex issue.

Positive experience: Good gym. Things are starting to get 'well worn'. The car park is like the surface of the moon, lots of machines out of service, pins missing, showers and taps very hit and miss if they will be warm.

Positive experience: Good value for money. The classes are enjoyable. Instructors vary in their approach, some are very relaxed and others shout at you and tell you to 'shut your mouth' if you talk to others in the class during exercise. Luckily, you can pick classes regularly run by the same instructor if you have a preference. Lots of varied equipment. Very clean environment and good changing facilities. Fair amount of parking, at peak times car park can be full. Could have done more to enforce social distancing prior to lockdown in my opinion but overall a good gym for the fee.
