Positive experience: We visited here for the weekend as part of a family booking. We checked into the Colorado Lodge and it was just lovely, the heating was on waiting for us which was nice as we were coming in from the cold and rainy weather! We were welcomed with a complimentary bag of goodies (Fudge, Sharer bag of crisps and a 1.5L bottle of water) this was a nice additional touch. The lodge had everything we needed including a dishwasher which came in handy when clearing up after breakfast with kids.. If you don't want to eat in your accommodation then you can visit their onsite restaurant which has plenty to choose from (we ate here twice and the carvery on Sunday was delicious ) We had never been here before so didn't know what to expect in regards to keeping our little ones entertained, there wasn't a clubhouse as you would usually find however they have a bar area with 4 separate rooms including a games area (Pool table, darts and board games galore to choose from) we also found a soft play room which my two absolutely loved along with the huge swimming pool. (If you are coming without kids you will find a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna here) There is also an outside play area for children, but we didn't use it due to the weather we experienced. I believe that although hoeseasons manage the bookings it is a privately owned park but please do not let this put you off as we had a really good time. The only things I would change would be the beds (they are rather hard) and the fact that there are not enough lights when walking back towards your lodge of an evening other than this we had a wonderful stay and the staff were very friendly.

Fantastic experience: Went for a Spa day with afternoon tea. It was excellent. Very helpful staff and very good facilities. Had a half hour massage which was nice and relaxing.

Positive experience: Great lodge. Very big. Very clean. Needs a bit of maintenance. Decking was very slippery and paving slap by steps loose. Food was amazing . Great friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

Positive experience: Spa day with treatment which was very nice however the name retreat suggests somewhere quiet and chilled this is not separate from the park facilities so very busy and noisy - included a cream tea with scones so dry as to be edible- the park itself looked very nice for families but as a spa not appropriate

Positive experience: We booked the Country Lodge with hot tub, it is really a caravan style. Decor was dated throughout the rooms, the sofas were new and v comfy. As a short term guest we would have enjoyed more space in each room rather than all the wardrobes and lockers that take up every inch of space. There is a nice small playground for kids but similar to the last review I expected the place to be much busier in July, hardly any kids around so we ended up going out on day trips. The pool is nice but also could do with some revamp. They do try make an effort, welcome pack in the room was a nice touch. The hot tub was cleaned daily by services. We had dinner one night, it was average. Coffee from the machine was horrible, do not recommend it they need a new one! Long story short, this is fine for a 3 star stay, but could do with some investment and modernisation.

Positive experience: Stayed for a midweek break. On reading the description online we were expecting more things for children. It states games room/amusements which were in fact a pool table in the bar area. We was expecting a small arcade as that’s what this usually means. It also stated on site shop, of which you could get the basics, but this was literally one wall within the reception area from what we could see. The day we arrived there was a problem with the water. The maintenance guy was very informative and did deliver water bottles but was a worry with 4 adults and a child that we wouldn’t be able to flush the toilet or shower. We was told free tea and coffee but was nearly denied when ordered as the bar hasn’t been informed. The lodge needs a freshen up with paint chipping outside but was a comfy stay. The mattresses are very hard so be prepared, hardly slept on first night! However the hot tub is very welcoming and was well used by all of us. Lovely views from the lodge too from inside walled garden. Overall if your children like to have things to do on site this isn’t the place to come. I would say more aimed at adults with the spa etc than families.

Fantastic experience: Just home from the most beautiful stay at crowhurst park. My husband and I were after a quiet, away from it all break and that’s exactly what we got. The lodge was perfect, the views were stunning , staff were very friendly and helpful, park beautifully kept and most of all so laid back. We will definitely be returning and I’m also hoping to have Christmas in the exact lodge that we stayed in. Thank you Crowhurst Park.

Fantastic experience: Had a lovely stay, Been here before and always been a pleasant expirence and stay. We stayed in the Richmond for 7 nights, the double bed mattress needs to be changed due to the feel of springs but went to the front desk and got a brand new topper which helped. There was a leak from the shower glass so going onto the floor. HOWEVER these are only two things out of the many good things, nice ensuite and kitchen with a full size dishwasher, double fridge and inbuilt microwave also had a hot tun which we used, very clean. Plenty of cutlery and glasses and cups too. The overall Lodge was really good and would rebook this one. The food at the resturant was nice (fish and ships are lovley) however (note to staff: please add curry sauce to the menu) Very comfortable sitting area for drinks within the main building. Staff are always friendly, good amount of parking and really enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic experience: I went here for a long weekend stay, with a spa package for myself and 4 friends. Such a lovely location, cabins are great, clean, comfortable, well furnished. Small selection of tea, coffee, sugar provided. Lovely welcome bag of goodies. Reception has Small shop selling essentials, plus local products, beers etc. Pool lovely, could do with a timetable as kids can dominate. Poolside hot-tub nice but busy. Didn't use sauna/steam room. Changing rooms a bit tired but clean. Staff lovely, spa rooms modern and lovely. The site was very quiet when I visited despite being booked up, lots of walking and footpaths to explore. Will go again!

Positive experience: Stayed over the weekend the lodge with hot tub was beautiful. The view was lovely the lodge was clean and spacious. Could probably do with some sort of shower caddy to put bottles on but thats it. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was OK. There was only 1 server which meant the little things were missed, no offering of more drinks, slow service and unfortunately found plastic in 1 of the dinners which was dealt with. We had a spa day package, the massage ladies were lovely and made us so relaxed. The steam room wasn't working tho which was a disappointment. The the life guards were basically children who didn't really understand how to have an interaction with any leasure club user. Who also seemed to know very little about anything going on in the club. The afternoon tea was lovely but again slightly ruined by there only being 1 server between 4 or 5 full tables, so again no refills on teas mix ups with orders and he was wearing his underarmer sports jacket over his shirt. Kept calling every "guys". I feel like the accommodation is on point!! The manor house is trying to achieve something with very very few staff which makes things very difficult. Such a mixed bag. Would return to try again.

Stayed in a few different lodges with hot tub on previous weekends away. Love it here and peaceful. Has a swimming pool, spa and now has a soft play area. Loved the new welcome pack left in the lodge on arrival. Back in April, looking forward to it with family Great friendly service and staff

Fantastic experience: We booked here for a spa day, we were warmly welcomed on arrival and filled in all the usual medical info. The treatments we had were brilliant, the girls who carried them out were knowledgeable, professional and did a great job, despite both being very new in to the beauty industry. They were a real credit. We had a swim and a bit of a relax after. The pool area is a bit dated and not super warm. Went for afternoon tea across in the Manor house/ bar area and food was great and everyone was brilliantly friendly. Over all thos represented amazing value for the price paid. Would recommend and certainly return.

Positive experience: Decided to get gel nails done here on my stay. The ladies were lovely, but the first nail came off within a few hours! After 3 days, they had all peeled off and looked worse than not having them done at all. Was quite disappointed and feel this service shouldn't be offered if it can't be done well.

Fantastic experience: Visited here today with 4 friends, I had booked via email about a month ago for the emerald spa day. The spa manager was extremely helpful at time of booking and very accommodating. On arrival we were greeted by the spa manager in a pleasant and friendly manner and treated like valued customers, we were handed our towels and robes and shown to the changing rooms. Our treatments were literally amazing (85mins worth) we all had a version of a luxury facial and massage and all of us felt totally relaxed and looked after. Can't recommend enough! Cream tea wasn't bad although the only slight let down was that the scones were quite dry but didn't really dampen our day but feedback that might be helpful! All in all it was fantastic value for money and we will be returning. Thank you everyone.

Fantastic experience: Really quiet, beautiful location with stunning views. We stayed in a California lodge (9), which was very clean - our lodge had towels, hairdryer, 4 dishwasher tablets and a tea towel (all very helpful but I brought our own, so if you want to save packing them the lodge has these fab extras which wasn't advertised). There are some developments being made but it didn't bother us, in fact the kids were thrilled by the odd tractor going by. The swimming pool was great with a shallower end (0.9m) for children. You can take balls etc in the pool to play with also. We ate in the restaurant, the kids meals were very generous and the food was great all round. I had a massage, which was a good price, even better when you receive 20% off. All in all, was a relaxing holiday with some great amenities.

Positive experience: Delicious roast dinner carvery in beautiful surroundings. Extremely great value for money. Help yourself ro the vegetables. Sadly potatoes were a bit too hard for me, but not a complaint. Despite booking online, staff weren't aware of our reservation. One member of staff took it upon himself to find us a lovely table in the grand room with beautiful views across the countryside. So very grateful. P.s. yes my plate was very full... No... I didn't manage it all lol.

Fantastic experience: This is a wonderful place with brilliant views, great staff and so kid friendly. Honestly I was blown away by this place. The clubhouse has everything you want: Games room (pool and darts) Restaurant Bar Soft play area And all is clean, and well looked after. This isnt Haven or Butlins so as long as you approach it with that in mind and not expecting arcades and 'entertainers' you will be fine and appreciate that you don't need to be plying endless quids in slots for the kids to have fun. The leisure facility is frankly brilliant, the pool is good but it's the gym where bit excels. They've clearly spent money on the equipment. It's modern, high quality and to be honest better than I've seen at David Lloyd's!!! The lodge we had was clean, bed comfy and a pleasure to stay in. Ours had a hot tub and this was a welcome addition (and was clean and modern). Such a relaxed place, there was no rowdy teenagers, noise, drunks or raucous behaviour. We have 4 kids (12, 9,7,4) and we went with family who also have 4 of similar age and at no point did we ever feel worried about the kids safety etc. A genuinely lovely holiday that I'd do again tomorrow!

Positive experience: This place is great of your looking a a simple and cost effective cream tea and massage. Will tick the boxes but health suite needs a refresh I would consider this a starter spa which is good enough but if you’ve been to others around they are likely to be better.

Dear Stewart Thanks for your honest review. Positive experience: Used to love it here. Place seems to have gone down hill unfortunately, pros and cons below Pros -very clean lodges -comfy beds -good heating -cooking equipment provided -ample parking Cons -flat-pack feeling lodges where you can hear every sound and movement from other rooms -no toiletries such as hand soap provided -only 2 rolls of toilet paper given for a 6 person/2 bath cabin -the clubhouse wasn't serving food on a Friday evening - gobby kids on electric scooters shouting and swearing at us as we walked past - steam room was described as "tempermental" by locals and didn't maintain temperature - footpath/woodland trail was closed off - no WiFi and very little phone signal - only one key initially provided for 6 people Overall it was an okay experience for the price. Would be nicer if there were more activities and food on site and better basics provided. We also tried to book beauty treatments but our call was never returned. Nice location but can't really take advantage of it if the woods are closed off. Seems like they don't really care about their out of season guests.

Penelope Jones 2 years ago

Negative experience: Wouldn't go again. Price is low but the experience was not what we normally expect from a spa day. Robes thin and dirty no rope to tie round the robe either. Jacuzzi horrible colour and not very warm. Not enough seating so not sure why they book in group spa days. Treatment room cold. Staff seemed quite rude and cold towards us too which was off putting.

Fantastic experience: We were bought a Spa Day with Massages for 2 as a gift at Crowhurst Park. As I had a voucher, I contacted the ever-patient Alice (who never showed any irritation at my seemingly endless ream of queries) asking about our upcoming visit and was much reassured. From the moment we arrived the gentleman on reception was immediately attentive and directed us to the Spa reception area upstairs. My partner had recently had an operation which we drew to the attention of his masseuse who was careful to ensure that we were always comfortable. Having our massages at the same time in the same room was a first for us and made for a wonderfully relaxing experience. Both offered a firm but gentle massage which we couldn't fault. We then changed into our bathers to go straight to the pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room where Georgia kindly led us to the areas in question and clearly explained how it all worked. As we'd brought our own towels etc. we didn't check on whether these were provided or not but needing no cash for the lockers is a definite bonus. The pool was a decent size and relatively quiet. (A guest told us that children are not permitted in the area over lunchtime apparently?) There were a few 'sun' beds around it, but it would benefit from some additonal seating, if for no other reason than to deter people from ‘parking’ themselves in the jacuzzi in between dips. We only stayed in the jacuzzi for a few minutes ourselves as it was so very fierce and heavily chlorinated. Perhaps this was to deter the use of it by children? We were surprised to see a notice that said it could be used by 8 year olds and up, as this is the first spa we've been to where young children were even allowed to use the jacuzzi! We didn’t notice whether there were any ‘no children’ signs at the doors to the sauna and steam rooms though. These had the usual seating capacity for 6 or so people but were never crowded at the time we visited. We passed up on the gym as hunger got the better of us, but we never felt rushed at any time and our stay was pleasant and leisurely. The changing rooms are on the small side. At the time I was readying myself to leave, there were about 6 adults and a child in there doing the same, which felt like it was at capacity. With a dozen or so lockers, 4 shower cubicles, 2 private changing rooms and 2 hair drying stations, it at least has everything you need. Although swim suit spinning dryers would be a welcome bonus. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The public areas were very clean and the staff were all very personable so we definitely want to go back!

Negative experience: Crowhurst park in its self is an ok place the staff at both the leisure centre and manor house are friendly and welcoming and the food and drink are good. The spa however is another thing the young girl on reception is rude and doesn't know what she is doing the rooms are dirty and dusty and the linin is discusting and there time keeping is ridiculous. While using the gym the following day I herd the girls from the salon making inappropriate comments about a fellow gym user and will be speaking to the manager of the leisure centre on my next visit as he wasn't available the day I was there. I watch a staff member sit outside while a customer was waiting to be served for 15 mins the salon seems to have gone down hill in the last couple of months I will not be recommending to anyone to visit here in the future.

Fantastic experience: I was at Crowhurst park today and feel children were acting inappropriately in the tub. Not sitting down and playing ball. Are you insured for such behaviour if an accident happened. Children should only be allowed in the tub if they are sitting down and acting correctly. It is not a play area. The bubbles were continually working which puts costs up for the club and therefore patrons cost will eventually increase to cover such costs. After mentioning it to the staff the children left the area. Just because parents say their child is eight does not mean they are.

Becci Bond 3 years ago

Negative experience: We arrived at the “spa” and were told we did not get a towel…. I’ve never had a spa day where you don’t get given a towel?! So the receptionist said - yeh sorry about that is it okay? I said “no not really we will need towels” so she came back with someone’s hand towel from the gym?! And some kind of kids towel as well that she has found! I said can we not have one from the treatment room? She ended up getting us towels from the treatment room but this took over an hour and by then we had had enough of sitting in a tepid jacuzzi. The sauna was good, but the rest of the facilities were dated and dirty. The toilets stank! And being in the changing rooms was so horrible as it was so unclean! I hadn’t brought flip flops as I thought we would get slippers - being a spa day and all. The treatments were nice, but they were done in a very bright room - which was not at all relaxing. The main building where we had afternoon tea was so dated and dirty again, but the afternoon tea was actually okay taste wise for £7 each! The staff were all friendly too. The outside seating with shade was very limited and only benches. This place was strange and not relaxing at all. Me and my friend did laugh about how bad it was and the towel situation though but I would not recommend.

Hello Becci, Rose Petals have only take over months ago and we are still awaiting our delivery of robes and slippers. This was stated in all booking links sent out. Fantastic experience: Loved the peace and quiet surrounding the lodge, excellent swimming pool, and the walks in woodland with only birdsong was wonderful. Only letdown was the standard in the restaurant, the food was not of the best sadly so we booked restaurants outside of the complex to eat.all in all a lovely place to stay if you want peace and quiet.

Negative experience: Worse afternoon tea. I've ever had. Who serves up cornflake cakes for an afternoon tea? Crowhurst do!!!! Triangle sandwiches and not finger sandwiches as well. This was all wrong! Small sofas were falling apart as well. All in all a terrible experience.

Negative experience: The Cream Tea with a glass Prosecco was a birthday gift from friends. Unfortunately, it was a very, very disappointing experience. My friend and I arrived at the venue after driving an hour and a half through the beautiful Kent and Sussex countryside. There was no one to greet us at the Manor House so we caught the attention of a young girl behind the bar. It was all very “ laidback “ We were then shown into a function room which looked as if it had been cleared up from the night before - very unwelcoming with chairs stacked up. Our best option was to sit in the dark lounge adjacent. None of the tables were laid out for a Cream Tea and the surface of the table was rather sticky. We were presented with a pot of very weak tea, two Pyrex mugs which had seen better days and a three tier cake stand with a selection of cakes, scones, Cream, fruit and sandwiches. The cakes were very small and tasteless, the bread was white processed and soggy, as if they had just been defrosted and the ham looked and tasted like supermarket economy. The strawberries were underripe and the grapes were fizzy; slightly going off. We weren’t even offered a glass of Prosecco! I’ve had better food in a transport cafe. I will not be recommending this venue to my friends. I

Negative experience: I've never left a review for anything before. I visited for a 'blissful spa day' for an early mother's Day treat for my mum. This included use of the spa facilities and a 30 minute massage. First bad part started with the smell in the changing rooms, it was disgusting, the toilets weren't even located in the changing room. Then we used the pool which was okay, the whole building looked like it needed a clean though. Everyone working there looked bored. Sauna was okay. Steam room was temperamental nothing special. Jacuzzi was barely working or maybe it was just bad, just a couple of jets going. We didn't use the showers to wash off the chlorine after the pool because of the smell in the changing rooms. We left the pool area to go to the main house for coffee, the inside of the bar/restaurant is dated and didn't feel very welcoming so we left to get coffee out of the park and returned later for our massage. We sat waiting at half past the hour when our massage was supposed to start, and we were told they were just getting the room ready for us, we didn't mind waiting. After getting changed, the massage started at around quarter to the hour and finished on the hour. So instead of getting half an hour we got 15 minutes each. The girl that did my massage sounded like she was ill. I've had a lot of massages for my back problems and this one was not good. My mum's maybe was a bit better, assuming she had the more experienced masseuse. I didn't want to cause a fuss there as it was supposed to be a treat for my mum but it doesn't warrant being called a 'spa day'. Maybe 15 min massage and use of leisure club. Fortunately we had a laugh together about it but that wasn't really the aim of the day.

Positive experience: My fiancé and I decided to come here for a spa day as we found a deal online. We usually go to Bannatynes, so we knew this wouldn't be the same but thought we'd give it a go. The pool was an okay size for swimming in, the sauna was nice. The steam room was very temperamental, we'd turn it on and it would not come on then it would randomly turn on out of nowhere. The jacuzzi was nice but way too much chlorine in it, so it was just a massive bubble bath of chlorine. We were both booked in for 30 minute massages, which the massage itself was very good BUT we were both only massaged for 15 minutes each. So we didn't get the 30 minute massage. My fiancé emailed and then phoned to complain after but no one ever answered or got back to us. For us, the main part of our day was to have a nice relaxing massage. Disappointing. The afternoon tea was nice, bit different to what I've had in other places but it was nice. I'm not sure I'd choose to come back again though, unless it was to make up for the half massage we received!

Fantastic experience: Staying at Crowhurst Park was a real treat, even with the current Covid restrictions in place. The site is beautifully spacious, with wonderful district views from many places. The facilities are very good, including the leisure centre which has a brilliant swimming pool which the kids enjoyed. The bar and restaurant on site has a great space outdoors for when the weather is good. The location is perfect for a trip in to Hastings to the beach and Old Town, it's only an 8 minute drive in to Battle were the English Heritage site has loads to offer for people of all ages, and the high street has some fantastic restaurants, pubs and shops. The proprietor of Crowhurst Park was very accommodating from the beginning to the end of our stay. We would be absolutely delighted to return here for our next holiday.

Fantastic experience: Peace and quiet, feels like the end of the world but only round the corner from Battle, Hastings and the seaside. Cottages are bright, clean and have very comfortable beds and fully fitted kitchens. Totally recommending! *get your leisure club (pool/gym etc) and restaurant bookings ASAP as spaces fill up quickly

Positive experience: Accomodation was nice, free table tennis was a bonus with the current weather. The lodge had a new carpet which was nice, the kitchen was basic but functional. No WiFi and poor Vodafone signal but good signal on the 3 Network. Our toilet had a leak on the outside of the lodge but nothing major. Good place for a few days away!

Negative experience: Terrible.....massage was cut short. Very inexperienced masseurs. Afternoon tea was in a brown bag as a take away. No cutlery or butter and a 20 cl bottle of fizz for two people....never visit again.

Positive experience: We have just been for our second visit here. It's perfect for a quiet getaway, not fill of arcades or loud and noisy entertainment. Using facilities was more difficult than our last visit, owing to Covid regulations, but it is a lovely site, away from the hustle and bustle.
