Fantastic experience: Clean and good environment

Positive experience: The price is affordable, it's in a good area + lots of free parking. However, there aren't enough weights and machines. Also many people leave weights laying around everywhere. There's no deterrent in the gym. There should be a policy of leaving weights around will lead to consequences. Some of the weights left around are in dangerous and hidden areas, and could trip and fall.

Positive experience: Been a member here for over a year now. Tonight there was no hot water in the men's or women's changing rooms (asked my partner after my shower was cold, and his was too). The lady's shower drains are often blocked too making water leak out to the dressing area. Otherwise it's just your average Gym Group gym.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym. Clean, spacious, bright, well-maintained and with some unique equipment that I haven’t seen at other branches. The staff are very helpful and amenable, particularly Ollie. Would recommend!

Negative experience: I bought membership two days ago. I was trying to get into the gym 3 times during these days but my pin code not working. QR code in the app as well. Nobody pickup the phone. There is No staff to help. Today few guys in front the doors with same problem trying to get in but nobody came to help us. After few calls And few hours someone finally pick up the phone. The Lady even didnt say sorry. She told me that she will re active my pin code. MY PIN CODE STILL NOT WORKING. Im losing time, money And I cant do my training.

Negative experience: No one manning the gym. Doors didn't work with the code. All a little bit dodgy. Would not recommend

Positive experience: nice gym with good ventilation and clean enviroment but 1 question is this place used to have a lot of wipes and cleaning spray around the gym to use for the machines and i don't see them around anymore for some reason ‍♂️

Special mention to Steve Griffin who has been a familiar face in the gym for the past two years and has great classes. Ollie and Val also fantastic

Positive experience: The gym floor is actually fine, quite spacious, good variety and good number of equipment, but the changing room is too small. Three people getting changed at the same time already feels too much.

Fantastic experience: Ollie (OlliethePT) is an incredibly accommodating personal trainer who goes above and beyond to ensure I have the correct technique during my workouts. His dedication pushes me to my limits, resulting in optimal muscle growth. I've learned so much from him and feel confident (and see!!) in my progress. Adam, the gym manager, creates a friendly and welcoming atmosphere every time I step into the gym. Whenever I have questions or need assistance, Adam is always there to lend a helping hand. His support and guidance have made my gym experience enjoyable and fulfilling. These two make it such an enjoyable experience and I thoroughly enjoy coming into the gym!

Fantastic experience: Great place to exercise, the equipment are really good and well maintained, the atmosphere is really good, showers and changing room very spacious, staff are very professional and helpful when needed.

Fantastic experience: This gym is the ones I have stayed a member for longest since university, almost since it opened. The staff are responsive and knowledgeable. The culture is respectful. There is a constant investment into equipment.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, clean and can be quiet at times. Lots of space so you do not feel as if many people are around you. Can be busy at rush hour times but still space to do your own thing off machines.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoy going to this gym. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and generous with their help and advice; there's a great selection of classes and equipment; and it's a genuinely inclusive place - people of all ages, shapes and sizes - so nobody needs to feel intimidated!

Positive experience: The place has a welcoming atmosphere, off peak times are perfect if you like it not crowded,the staff I've met seem friendly ( Steve is awesome ). As a transgender woman I feel safe and have had no issues using the women's restroom, I do use the disabled toilet sometimes to change if I do get a little anxious but I haven't experienced any hatred so far... My only gripes would be that the kettlebells only go to 20kg, and the battlerope anchor runs horizontally along the functional area which means sometimes it's not possible to use it, it would be better if it ran next ro the sled push, also some bigger size med balls would be nice as what they have now you cannot use for wall balls or for holding between you feet.

Positive experience: The only good gym in Oxford

Positive experience: Complete gym, no fuss. People are decent and cordial. After work is absolutely packed, but not hostile. I go I the morning before work to avoid the crowds and get more bucks for my time.

Negative experience: Absolutely awful customer service and overall experience in general. AVOID this gym chain! I signed up in my first month as an Ultimate member as they had an offer of this on their website. This is so I can access gyms in both Oxford and Reading as I live in between. There I go turning up at one of the gyms on a Saturday morning, not being able to get in and no one to answer the phone or answer the door. When I contacted them about this the customer service representative called Haroon insisted that I initially signed up for a Standard membership when I know for a fact I didn't. The gym facilities in Reading Central are awful as well. It's in serious need of an upgrade. I'm massively disappointed in my experience with the Gym Group, if you can go to PureGym or somewhere else, I'd highly recommend you do so!

Negative experience: Awful staff attitude to helping out with gaining access even though the issue is was down to their own system.

Negative experience: Tried cancelling my membership through the app way before but it doesn’t let you and makes things difficult, finally was able to email them but it said that they may need 4 days notice so it won’t cancel but a member of their team would get in contact. Then I called them and they charged me £31 and said you can’t get refunded and I only went once‍♂️.

Fantastic experience: We had a show-around-tour by the manager. He was helpful and told very useful things about the place. We will join!

Positive experience: No staff here anymore its run remote with cameras,there's no way you could use this gym if it ever started to run at what they say is full capacity. Great for me at the moment.

Fantastic experience: Going to the gym with a health condition can be daunting. The gym group have looked after me well and made going to the gym enjoyable. Friendly crowd and staff are great. Even when I can’t do hard core training the classes really push me to my limit and I feel good. Shout outs to Leon, Adam and Val.

I haven't participated in any fitness classes yet but have payed attention while doing my workouts, so I know there's plenty of options there too! I recommend giving it a try

Explained all the equipment and areas fully and told me about the group classes too. Have signed up already and am looking forward joining.

Positive experience: Been going here for a few weeks, no issues with the equipment, has everything you would need, I've not been left wanting for any equipment. Always seems busy, I've been at times from 5am, lunch time, and about 3pm during the week. There is plenty of equipment, so I've never had to wait, it's just a lot of people. My main issue, which might not be for some people is the changing room is like a shoebox, there's only 3 showers, and they are pretty poor, push-button showers that are on a short timer, so they keep turning off (water saving I know). There is a huge space upstairs outside the changing rooms that I hardly ever see anyone using, why not expand the changing rooms to be able to fit more than 3 people at a time? Could do with a few more water fountains dotted around the place, but not a huge issue. Can't comment on the staff, I mostly go at 5am and leave around the time the staff seem to arrive, and i have not had any PT sessions or classes yet. Overall, for the membership cost, I'm satisfied, I wouldn't recommend a friend, but I wouldn't say not to go, either. This is mainly because of the changing / shower facilities.

Fantastic experience: I've tried practically ALL gyms in Oxford, it has everything you could ask for whether you're an aspiring bodybuilder, fitness model, X-fit or general exercise. One of the best, and cheaper than most!

Fantastic experience: I've been going casually for a few months now. I chose the Headington location due to proximity to work and for the price I can afford to attend casually when work allows and fill in the gaps in my garage gym. There's an excellent range of equipment, it's clean and membership is affordable and flexible.

Fantastic experience: As someone who primarily went to The Gym Bournemouth during university, I decided to try this one and it did not disappoint! Location is convenient for those who would like grab a coffee from the Costa nearby + purchases groceries from Aldi a few meters away. Great prices for the memberships they offer. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, lively atmosphere, and have a decent variety of kit. Don't be shy to speak with the staff nor the members! A wholesome community.

Positive experience: Good gym. Lots of machines. Needs bigger lockers. Motorcyclists can't lock up all their stuff.

Fantastic experience: This is my play ground. Lovely equipment kept clean. Staff are very welcoming and the place is nicely lit up and ventilated.

Negative experience: It is what it is. My complaints relate to cancellation. If you pay by credit card, cancelling is rather tricky. It takes multiple steps, and you are only told about the next step once you complete the one before. Some of the instructions for the next step are written in rather small writing that is not obviously placed in the email/webpage they send you to! I thought I had cancelled but they were still taking money from me for several months.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym - all the trainers are really friendly, approachable and have so much knowledge. The classes are great and there is a wide range to choose from, catering to all abilities. I’ve made a lot of progress here and I am thankful to the gym for supporting me and keeping me motivated - as well as for the conversations had with the trainers and members of the gym too.

Fantastic experience: If you’re looking for a gym that is affordable with great equipment and fantastic staff that I recommend to the gym next to homebase, I went there for a few months absolutely loved it definitely a great place to go if you’re looking for a bargain and look in a way to get in good shape and the classes are amazing too they have an app that also helps them and you for any sessions to go through all I know I give it a 100/10

Fantastic experience: Overall a really nice, clean and spacious gym with lots of equipment. Really great personal trainers as well. Nate (Vigorous Fitness) is a really great trainer. Very empathetic but will always push you to do your best every session. I am already more confident in my workouts since the first day of training. I expect great results in the next couple months. Really great gym and trainer!
