Positive experience: It’s a good gym overall But ONE bike for the all facility is not enough !

Positive experience: PureGym Barnstaple is a great option if you're looking for an affordable and convenient place to work out. The gym offers excellent value for money with a very reasonable monthly membership, especially when you consider the 24/7 access. Inside, you'll find a good range of both cardio and strength training equipment, so whether you're a seasoned lifter or just starting your fitness journey, you'll be able to get a good workout in. I've personally never had to wait too long for a machine, even during busier periods. The gym itself is generally kept clean and tidy, and it has a spacious layout that prevents it from feeling too cramped. It's conveniently located in Anchorwood Retail Park with plenty of parking available, making it easily accessible for those with cars. However, it's worth noting that peak times can get crowded, which is to be expected with a budget-friendly gym. While PureGym Barnstaple does offer some fitness classes, the selection isn't as extensive as you might find in other gyms. Also, keep in mind that this is a no-frills gym, so don't expect any extras like a sauna or swimming pool. Their focus is on providing the essentials for a good workout at a great price. Positive experience: Visiting town. Used the gym several times in a week. took a yoga and legs bums tums class. There is Less gym equipment here than other gyms in South West. 3 stars for : 1.Unfriendly front staff. Never said hello or gave us eye contact. 2. the individual who planned the open area next to the equipment for classes! Men Grunting and dropping weights not conducive to a Yoga class!! New gym, clean and tidy otherwise.

Positive experience: Giving four only because it could do with a little bit more space for machines.(it would help during peak times) Other than that it’s clean, well maintained with a good atmosphere .

Fantastic experience: Been a member for 8 weeks now ,and VERY happy with this gym Staff ,particularly the manager Phil has very good customer service skills and helps whenever possible . Positive experience: Went along with my friend as her plus one for free as part of her membership. Decent kitted out gym with good quality equipment (majority is matrix). Went aboutb7:15pm and was a little busy but plenty of things were free. By the time we left around 8:30 was quiet enough for anyone to do what they wanted. My first experience was decent and I would go again.

Negative experience: PureGym! How the devil does one get access to this gym? I'm on the highest tier of membership, no options on the app or on the website. Wouldn't normally resort to leaving a one star review, but I can't find another way bar a premium rate phoneline. Sincerely, a disappointed loyal customer of many years.

Positive experience: My first review accidentally gave this 2 stars, edited to 3. PureGym's cookie cutter response about popularity is a bit much. In reality it's a busy gym because it's cheap and 1 of few gyms at a lower price point. To my knowledge there's 10 gyms in Barnstaple, several are CrossFit, several more are incredibly expensive, the rest are even smaller than PureGym. Barnstaple has a population of 50,000 people, and on average 7 in every 50 Britons have a gym membership. PureGym could have slapped down a branded shed and still have a pool of 7,000 potential customers. No matter how it's sliced the gym needs to be bigger. Gym speakers are still stupidly loud at night. ---------------------------- An average gym at an average price: Positives: + Has a decent free weight section. + Plenty of changing, shower facilities for its size. + Less expensive than comparable gyms. + Well laid out/organised and cleaned. + Good staff. Negatives - The vast majority of users are too lazy to tidy or clean up after themselves. Ironic in a gym. - Oversubscribed so you'll always have to wait to use equipment or go early morning or late at night. - Speakers are ridiculously, annoyingly loud at night. - More expensive than comparable Puregyms e.g. Cardiff, Bristol Brislington, Plymouth. Overall, if you're serious about lifting there are other gyms with better etiquette and weight selection. Otherwise you'll struggle to beat the value.

Fantastic experience: Lovely gym...friendly staff and very clean...the only problem I have is the Aircon...we have had a couple of heatwaves and the upstairs on the treadmill has been so hot...I thought they may have had the aircon on continually but it comes on periodically for about a couple of mins...it needs to be on constantly...come on pure gym it's very hot upstairs...thats my only complaint

Temperatures in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Positive experience: So, 5pm Monday afternoon is a busy time! Shocker! First visit, once finished on a bike (which was then taken the second I wiped it down) all the other equipment was full so did bit of planking....which I can do at home without spending £24.99 per month. Hopefully an early morning session will be quieter. Nice atmosphere though and fairly relaxed.

Positive experience: Gyms ok take note that it is only a Puregym "local" so limited on space which is unfortunate very small studio no spin bikes or spin classes only 2 changing cubicles, the thing that is a big let down is the price as it is the same price as other pure gyms that are twice to 3 times the size. Very basic gym

Positive experience: Relatively cheap gym, but crowded at busy times and there are limited numbers of some cardio machines - only one static bike for example. Weights and benches get commandeered early so aren't available. Clean and tidy, but the staff don't seem very interested unless you are a Private client.

Positive experience: Equipment is good, place is clean and well maintained, however the day pass is extremely pricey in my opinion. I understand it's to get you to pay for full membership but still, very steep, especially if you only plan on staying an hour or so.

Negative experience: The gym is filthy , basic equipment just about does the job , you can get better about for 15 extra quid a month 1 set temp showers

Negative experience: Not fit for purpose wasted space, no spin classes? Not enough/poor equipment They don't pay their staff,so they have no quality staff. hidden charges. Cheap monthly rates but you get very little for it. Etc etc.

Timetables are always determined by staff availability and member demand, but this is liable to change so if you have any specific suggestions for classes/times I would advise approaching the gym manager or leaving a note in the feedback box in the gym. This is regularly reviewed. We always aim to provide a broad spread of kit to cater to a range of fitness needs and meet demand as it changes through the day, getting the balance right between weights and cardio, but if you have any other/specific suggestions please approach the Gym Manager or leave a note in the feedback box, which is regularly reviewed. In the meantime, I really do hope this does not put you off from attending the gym.

Fantastic experience: Love my new gym that's now here in town. Really like how it runs with the pin as you enter and emails with award badges sent. Very cool how you easily book classes on the app very modern times in Barnstaple . Staff friendly enough, great instructors in the classes I've had so far (Nat and zach). Great showers and ample parking. Much needed in town at an affordable price.
Negative experience: Well not a good start. I went in (or tried to) to get some information for my husband. I am probably not the demographic they are going for being 60!! I stood behind the plastic gates and someone grudgingly asked what I wanted. I said I just wanted literature for my husband, and again he grudgingly 'coded' me in and gave me a leaflet - no explanation, enthusiasm, interest in a potential client. I asked if they had showers - 'yes upstairs', no offer to show me around or interest in getting my husband in for a tour. Surely they need customers to survive, and I don't think there are enough 20 something year olds in Barnstaple to keep them in business. My husband is only 50 btw, presently goes to the Leisure Centre 3 times a week, does Parkrun weekly, and is dong the Commando Challenge a week Sunday - but hey who needs clients !!
