Fantastic experience: Drive past on way to KFC. Looked good

Negative experience: Nice gym but when they do "boxing classe" it's so loud that you can't hear your music in headphones

Positive experience: It's not a bad gym considering the price, i pay £20 a month, my only cons on this place is that the place is too dark and the music can be ridiculously loud, not really any great extra facilities either, very basic!

Positive experience: It is not bad at all . I have been working for Flannels and Fraser Group for years and I believe it is totally worth it this gym reporting to quality , price and services . Would highly recommend ! Pandoras Andreas ❤️ps. Very good motivational music too !

Positive experience: I enjoy going to the gym at Shirebrook, It is a decent gym and has a great setup, however, housekeeping could be better Finding chewing gum and fingernails (not false) on the floor, when doing groundwork exercises is a bit minging, it wasn't just a one-off either. Staff were informed of this.

Negative experience: Dark n depressing now need colour n good vibes when training not doom n gloom so won't be going back . Pity was good before.

Fantastic experience: Nice gym, plenty of parking, abit crowded at peak times but that's expected

Positive experience: Good guy, been going a few years, looks good after the most recent fit out. Helpful staff, clean place. Can be very busy between 5-7pm but that's got to be expected

Negative experience: Been a member since it opened but unfortunately the refurbishment has ruined the experience for me. The dance music is too loud, all natural light has gone, the walls are black and its lit with LED lights. You can't listen to your own music because the speakers are so loud you can still hear it with your headphones on. Whoever's idea the refurb was should have opened a nightclub instead. Cancelling my membership

Negative experience: The refurbishment has made it worse. I liked it more before.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant place, well worth joining.

Positive experience: Hmmm, where to start? Firstly, the equipment is top shelf and there's plenty of it too so, 5 stars there. The car park is huge and free (although it also serves the retail park), and the gym membership is extremely low priced so, again 5 stars there. Now for the negatives: the refurbishment has made it like walking into a gothic nightclub! Black walls, black flooring, blacked out windows, the machines (although as mentioned above, are top notch) are also black. The music, whilst decent and upbeat, is way too loud, so normal conversation is difficult. If it wasn't for the aforementioned cheap membership, I would have walked out cancelled it!

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of this gym since not long after it opened and it's always been decent, but they've just refurbished the whole gym and WOW. They have a ton of new hammer strength and nautilus kit and the whole place looks like a nightclub. Super cool! They have these new classes that are way more exciting than the standard Les Mills. I loved the HAYMAKER boxing class!

Negative experience: the place is so neglected and dirty that the floor is sticky. hair and sand everywhere. and the women's changing room is a scandal. hair, shower drains clogged with hair, no soap. I'm thinking about resigning

Positive experience: Only just joined the gym.The staff very helpful.was however disappointed, the free weight and bumbells left all over the place. Seems no-one cares. Not seen this for years,in a gym. Shame. Other than that lots of kit. Weight benches could be higher. the free weights and bumbells were left all over the place,bit frustrating when training tryingto find the weights.

Fantastic experience: Joined about 2 months ago and it's my favourite place to go. There is a wide range of free weights, and weight machines. There are also many varied cardio machines such as rowing machine, standing and seated bike, stair machine. There is a space for box jumping and floor workouts with spacing in between each area so distancing can be achieved if desired. There are plenty of lockers. Changing rooms are spacious with shower facilities. The equipment is of the highest standard and well maintained. If required there is also onsite Personal Trainer to provide workout programs to achieve your goals. This is situated on the Sports Direct Complex in Shirebrook. Opposite the main Sports Direct shop on the same block of buildings as Brand Max. The staff are friendly and experienced to assist where you require. There are also facilities to buy protein shakes before and after a workout. Other items such as workout aids (headphones, Weight belts, locker locks and more.....) Water is sold at reception and Hand sanitizers are available throughout the facilities. Overall an amazing place where you can build your body and mind and achieve your goals. 10/10 ❤

Negative experience: I have cancelled mine and my husband's memberships, and they HAVE CHARGED me 20 pounds each until end of December. They did not stop my cancellation period because of lockdown. Also, I did not use my cooling period 14 days in March, then 1st lockdown came into place, gym was closed. I wanted to use it after the 1st lockdown, but they said I cannot do this, and I cannot cancel my membership. I am pregnant from March, but they still charged me and my husband all of the months from March until December. Rediculous!

Fantastic experience: A well equipped gym with a friendly and helpful staff. The prices are affordable. I love working out here. During the lockdown I missed it soooo much. :-) Update: Well it got refurbished in 2022. Now it gives me a cryp / night club feeling, but it's still nice. Sadly the fitness room had been repurposed, so now there's no room where I can practice Martial Arts after my training sessions.

Positive experience: The biggest minus for no drinking water stations. You have to bring your own water or buy a small bottle at the entrance, it's not cheap of course. Not enough barbell weights. The rest is OK.

Positive experience: Prices seem a little on the high side despite the huge "sale" prices. The staff seemed a little disinterested but it was late on a Sunday, we didn't buy anything but go back. Really not impressed that you can order to collect if your size isn't in stock, but they charge you £5 for the privilege even though the warehouse is right next door!!!

Fantastic experience: Good spacious gym with plenty of equipment.

Negative experience: Threatened to appoint debt collection agency for "unpaid direct debit" despite having rung the Shirebrook team to cancel membership. I was advised this would be dealt with but later received an email (no phone calls) to state my account was in arrears. Awful service from the membership team. No supervisor was "available" apparently so could not make any form of complaint or resolve. Only pointed me to terms and conditions noting I had not followed the correct protocol for cancelling membership. The "administration fee" of £10 by the way, is double the membership fee of £5 per month!

Positive experience: Does what it says in the tin. I was never offered an induction to the gym, but if you've been to a gym before it's not essential. Staff are friendly which is a bonus. Occasionally the equipment isn't working right but that's the same in most places.

Positive experience: Plenty of equipment but quite a lot of the running machines stick/pause/stall mid run ‍♂️

Negative experience: Absolutely dire service. Stopped the contract back in May verbally on the phone.... Left over the 3 month agreement term before cancelling the direct debit. As soon as the direct debit was cancelled received emails stating we owed the 3 month term since May. Spoke with Head office, spoke with Shirebrook and low and behold threatened with possible CCJs if me and my husband don't pay not only the 15 quid they claimed we had accrued since May, but then an admin fee on top!! Wont be going again, and will advise anyone thinking of going otherwise
