Our comment from FitFit UK about Dunbar Leisure Pool:
Dunbar Leisure Pool is an excellent family-friendly facility located in scenic Dunbar, United Kingdom. Visitors frequently praise the center for its vibrant atmosphere and various engaging features that cater to both children and adults.
Highlights:
- Fantastic activities such as a wave machine and water slide that keep kids entertained.
- Well-maintained and clean facilities that include family changing areas and a cozy café with snacks.
- Affordable pricing and ample parking, making it accessible for everyone.
- Friendly and helpful staff who enhance the overall experience.
While the pool offers a fun environment, some users have expressed concerns about cleanliness in certain areas, particularly the changing rooms.
Additionally, at peak times, the pool can get quite crowded, leading to wait times for the slides and access to changing cubicles. However, this is a testament to its popularity!
Overall, Dunbar Leisure Pool offers a great day out for families looking to enjoy water activities in a beautiful seaside setting.

Dunbar Leisure Pool: Opinions
Fantastic experience: My grandson loved the pool. Lovely views too!
Fantastic experience: Had a wonderful day here with the family while on holiday at Pease Bay! Only a short drive from the park it was worth it.
Fantastic experience: Good place to swim. Warm too
Positive experience: Slide was open for 10 minutes every 15 minutes because of the waves which were disappointed some of the staff were a bit sharp tounged while the lady at the desk was very nice . Maybe just a bad day. im not sure

Positive experience: Great for the kids. Slides and wave machine. Clean facilities and free parking. Well priced
Positive experience: Great facility Loved by children and parents
Thanks Evelyn! Thanks for your feedback, we hope to see you again soon.
Positive experience: Took my kids there the first time 20 years ago and now take my grandkids there whenever we are staying in north Berwick, it may be a bit tired but it works really well, very well priced for tickets and never overcrowded, staff are excellent and helpful the cafe serves snacks and drinks well priced all in all a very good community pool. As for the complaints on this review page perhaps inform members of staff about dirty nappies and grass on the floor instead of whining, have been to many more expensive water parksthat have the same issues due to ignorant customers
Thanks for your review Bernie! We hope to see you and your family again soon.
Fantastic experience: Great for all the family and good classes , and fine gym
Thanks Mark!
Fantastic experience: Great fun for the kids and adults alike. Family changing right by the pool, parking out front. Flumes and wave pool always fun.
Thanks Annastasia!
Positive experience: Great for the kids. Can get busy but plenty of room. Shame a few of the kids items aren't working any more.
Negative experience: Visited this week and was disgusted at the mess throughout the pool area and changing rooms. Mud, grass, half eaten food, dirty nappies and baby wipes were just some of the things left lying. We found a mop and cleaned a cubicle ourselves and when asked by a member of staff what we were doing he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. I complained to the girl on the front desk who was apologetic but it’s just not acceptable

Positive experience: Other than the water being a little cool this is a great spot for kids and families. Nice clean facilities and lots of lockers and changing cubicles.
Negative experience: Poorly maintained public benches.
Hi Paul, Thanks for your message. We'll pass your feedback over to our colleagues at the council.
Negative experience: Was ok. Water temperature was a bit better than our last visit. However, cafe was shut by 4.30- couldn't even buy a water for kids. Vending machines both broken. Bubbles have also stopped working. The snail and ship squirty things are still broken as they have been for years. The fountain is still broken. The volcano things still not working (haven't been for many years though) The 'waves' have been reduced a lot since our last visit. There was a burst nappy all over one of the family changing rooms and the whole area smelled like urine. At least the little 2ft slide still works and the lifeguards are very on the ball. Reception staff friendly too.
Fantastic experience: Very good pool for kids. The location is so nice and view is magnificent. There is a small cafe inside for snacks.
Positive experience: Great community asset friendly staff and good coffee at the caffe a great place to relax after a walk around historic castle.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic time in the pool ,I was just there for the weekend from Ireland staying with family we had a amazing time
Fantastic experience: Lovely pool not especially busy. Our boys loved the slide and wave machine. Clean and tidy changing area. Cheerful staff.
Negative experience: Pool was freezing and place needs to be shut down for a deep clean. Replying - Allan?

Fantastic experience: Wanted too try swimming pool with kids and misses we all really enjoyed ourselves and will be revisiting asap
Thanks for the review Chris! Can't wait to see you again.
Fantastic experience: Great wee community leisure centre with hall and pool. Nice cosy poolside cafe. Friendly staff.
Thanks for your review Alan!
Fantastic experience: Easily the best family leisure pool around Edinburgh. Flume and wave machine. Kids always ask to go back here more than the others we have tried. Practical pool side cafe. Front desk staff helpful. Busy at peak times. Top tip, drop the kids off and go for a coffee cake and a shop on Dunbar high Street. Sunday afternoon done.
Hello Mark, thank you for your message. We are glad you enjoy every visit with us :) Kind regards, enjoyleisure
Fantastic experience: Great Place⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fantastic experience: Good place for kids to have fun, kids love it. Nice place, price is reasonable.
Hello Kamms, thank you for your message. We are glad you enjoyed your time with us :) Kind regards, Enjoy Leisure
Fantastic experience: pool was awesome we was visting 2 time and definitely back again
Hello, Lukasz. Thank you for your message. We are glad you had a nice experience and we are looking forward to seeing you again soon. Kind regards, enjoyleisure
Positive experience: Lovely staff. Large car park. Scenic views.
Thanks for your review Lynette. Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip to our centre and had a chance to take in the stunning views!
Fantastic experience: Best pool ever , family orientated , can sit and spectate at tables and chairs . Wave machine , big slide . Kind of beach idea . Good family pool
Hi Caz, glad to hear you had a great time! Hope to see you again soon.
Positive experience: Great swimming pool, wave machine and flume. Our kids love it here. Changing area could do with more attention. Floor is very slippy and my daughter slipped and hit her head off a locker today. It was very busy today.
Hello Karina, Thank you for your message. I am so sorry to hear that. I hope your daughter is doing alright. I have forwarded this to our Senior Management team for their information and action. Kind regards, enjoyleisure
Fantastic experience: Great family day out, waves are good fun.
Fantastic experience: Cold day and went to cafe at pool. Lovely coffee and made very welcome. Will visit again
Fantastic experience: Great pool my daughter loved it. Warm water also
Negative experience: Haven't even been here yet I have been trying to call for the past 3 days over 10 times in opening hours, just to ask what the hight restriction is on the big slide and had no answer at all. What is the point in having a phone number posted online if no-one ever answers it ???
Hello Olivia, many thanks for your message and apologies you have not been able to speak to a member of staff via the telephone, our Dunbar Leisure Pool can be extremely busy and staff cannot always answer calls. The only restriction for the flume is that the person must be able to swim from the bottom of the flume to the steps for exiting. I hope this helps. If you do require any further information, please do email [email protected] directly. Kind Regards, Enjoy Leisure.
Positive experience: Nice big pool, loads for kids to do, big slide and waves every half hour. Could do with more staff.
Negative experience: Disappointed. Drove here from Edinburgh with my toddler after hearing how good the kids' facilities were. Website and pool timetable completely incomprehensible so tried to call twice to check opening times, no answer each time. Timetable showed lessons from 3:30 but arrived find the whole pool closed at 3pm for swimming lessons. No indication on website or timetable that whole pool closes for lessons. The two memebrs of staff on reception could not have been less interested and just directed me to the incorrect information on their website. Cue toddler metldown when told he can't go swimming, lady on reception just shrugged amd turned away. Awful service which is a shame because the facilities looked good through the glass.
Positive experience: Great fun, but the swim session was just over an hour, not enough time to exercise my kids.
Fantastic experience: Kids loved the slide and wave machine. Good family day out.
Fantastic experience: Great visit for swimming. However the cafe side is another story. 45 minutes wait for an order. It wasnt exactly busy. Be prepared to wait
Fantastic experience: I would like to thank Emma for all the support she gave to my wife today when we visited Dunbar swimming pool today. She was feeling very unwell and Emma couldn't have been kinder.
Fantastic experience: My son had a good time here. Clean, friendly service. High recommended.
Fantastic experience: Great-granddaughter loves it there and has grown in confidence since going there.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic place, very helpful & friendly, great facilities
Positive experience: We have visited here a lot. I think it has great potential but is gradually needing more repairs that haven't been done. The small slide is great for younger kids. The big slide great for able swimmers. Kids love the wave machine. The snail and flag water things haven't worked for a long time. Lately the bubbles have stopped working. And the water spout now not working. On the last 2 visits. The plastic mats you walk on to get to showers are cracked and falling apart in places. The vents in the loo were very dusty. The family change smelt of urine from the bin (I think). There were several plasters on the walkway down to the pool. I highlighted this and was cleaned up. I think with repairs and some better cleaning this would be better place to visit.
Positive experience: Children really enjoyed their visit. Pool chute was busy and the wave machine added to their day out.
Positive experience: Great facilities and a very affordable way to entertain the kids.
Fantastic experience: Great for the kids. Watch out for the kids when the wave machine gets going.
Fantastic experience: The kids loved it, and the food from the cafe was excellent
Positive experience: Its very enjoyable if you want to splash around with your kids but not very good if you want to swim lengths as it is often very busy on allocated lane swimming days.
Negative experience: Mixed feelings about this place tbh Pros:- *Relaxed life guards with regards to jumping in. *cheap entry. *ample parking Cons:- *Dirty uncleaned facilities, worst I have ever experienced. *Staff are rude and one woman was stinking and covered in dirt all over her uniform, actually really disgusting! *Everything is outdated. *They force you to buy a token instead of offering change for lockers, absolutely shameful in this current cost of living crisis tbh. *They jam pack the place so you don't actually get to swim rather you bob from one place to another. Visited once and never went back in the week we were visiting as the cons outweighed the pros ♂️
Fantastic experience: Amazing place. Located in a beautiful location, on the beautiful seaside, surrounded with beautiful castle ruins and deep history. We took children for a swim, swimming pool is open to public, just walk in.
Positive experience: Great for the kids but to hot for spectators
Positive experience: Ok pool super crowded, filthy changing rooms.
Positive experience: Kids love this pool which has a flume, wave machine and toddler area. And a cafe where you can spectate. Family changing rooms are really hand with small kids in tow.
Negative experience: Tried phoning to book health suite before arrival..this was at 910am but kept ringing out, tried 3 times with no answer so decided to turn up and see if we can get in. 2 reception staff chatting and finished their conversation before noticing us waiting. Got to the health suite which was looking old and shabby no water as out of order. The sauna done its job.
Positive experience: If you actually want to swim at a time that suits you its impossible as there are no dedicated spaces between the kids jumping in, and families throwing balls. Some behaviour notices would be great; or maybe 'swimmers have right of way'. I'm not that much of a cummugeon as it's great to see kids enjoying themselves and learning to swim, but as an adult swimmer I felt in the way and unconsidered.
Fantastic experience: We love this place. Been going since my daughter was 4 she is now 21, and we still love it.
Positive experience: Lovely town, we don’t know why we never visited before, lovely harbour steeped in history also still is a working fishing town, lots of shops on the main high street people are friendly and talkative so make extra time for your visit. Ample pay as you go parking reasonable rates, we stayed about three hours not a really enough time to appreciate the town fully.
Fantastic experience: Great, kids loved it, could do with fixing the lattes though as coffee and lattes were not nice at all but swimming pool great
Negative experience: Very Noisy Pool Cold Showers Too Hot Changing Rooms Messy Cafe Is Expensive
Fantastic experience: Great pool for a toddler. £1 needed for the lockers (you get the pound back!)
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff ......best cafe chips l have ever had and a good cup of coffee
Negative experience: Very disappointed we couldn't get a cup of tea. When I asked a member of staff when the cafe opened I was told 11am or maybe 11.15ish.
Hello Helen, we are sorry you couldn't get a cup of tea from our Café. We have had to alter our opening times of the Café to coincide with our busier times of the pool. The latest the Café opens is 11.00am, although there are a some days when it opens a little earlier; Tuesday 10.00am and Friday 10.30am. These earlier open times coincide with busy activity in the pool. Many Thanks, Enjoy Leisure.
Positive experience: I went to use the gym. Well equipped but small. Lots of people in to use it and a few sitting on equipment listening to the phones. Still had a good workout. Good Leisure pool and sauna area.
Fantastic experience: It's great to have a pool to swim in,we're so lucky to have this on our doorstep. However, it's also great to have one with a usable flume, not forgetting the wave machine. Good changing area and shower.
Positive experience: Great place to take the kids. It can get busy, so arrive early or expect to queue. Waterslide and wave machine will keep kids busy and there is a shallow area for younger kids/babies. The only negatives are the tiny change rooms and the undrinkable coffee ☕️ at the poolside cafe.
Fantastic experience: Place is a lot of fun, the kids love it. It is popular though - for those who don't know.
Positive experience: Good pool and nice and clean surroundings. Well organised and supervised.
Negative experience: Changing rooms are disgusting and the toilets are worse. Water is cold. It's just not a nice pool at all.
Fantastic experience: This is such a fun pool for kids & adults, it has the wave machine going on every hour & half hour & it has a long flume shute but non swimmers can't go on it. It does have a couple of things for toddlers & it has a bubble area in the pool as well. My only problem is that it could do with another disabled changing cubicle but all in all it's a great place to take your kids.
Negative experience: Went into the swimming pool with my 2 daughters 3 and 8 . Could only last 20 minutes before getting out as my daughter's lips were blue because it was that cold. Even I was cold. I have no other issues other than that it is what it is. Feel like a waste of time travelling for 20 minutes fun.
Positive experience: Good leisure pool, however unfortunately the cleanliness is pretty poor in and around the changing rooms.
Negative experience: Visited the pool on Sunday 8th January with my 7 year old son, the pool area and the water were so cold my son only lasted 10 minutes before he wanted to leave. The temperature here is not consistent and this is not the first time we have had to leave because it was too cold. I previously bought my son a wetsuit for going to this leisure pool but he has outgrown it. You shouldn’t have to wear wetsuit in a leisure pool.
Fantastic experience: Great pool regular visitor with my grandson
Positive experience: Nice enough leisure centre, a bit pricey to get in and looking a little tired in some areas, mould in the showers.
Fantastic experience: Clean, with nice staff, nice pool to take young kids to as there is a gradual decline into deeper water. We will be back. The changing area was clean enough and there were decent family changing areas
Negative experience: Update 7/11/24* Lights still not fixed in car park making it hard to navigate the pot holes when you're walking Really wish this place opened early like other gyms* Update.... 15.1.24 Some of the lights in car park are out making it really difficult to see where you're going and one lady fell due to this
Hi there, thanks for your message. We appreciate your feedback and have passed this to the team.
Fantastic experience: My daughter loved this pool. When the wave machine comes on she gets all excited. Only 90mins from Hawick too
Fantastic experience: Great pool. Wave machine AND flume. Café needs work.
Positive experience: Nice pool, there is a water slide for the kids and much older kids which is good fun. Waves every 15 or so minutes when it's working. It can get very busy at weekends and during holidays and not a huge amount of changing rooms so there is sometimes a wait, or a hunt. Make sure you wrap up if it's cold outside as there is often a queue to get in at busy times and you queue outside. So it can be chilly.
Positive experience: Still one of the best pools around!! But it is getting old ..and needing a little upgrade.....could be clearer around the changing rooms area....is that down to staff cut backs???.....needs to stay clean imo
Fantastic experience: Fabulous classes and instructors. The pool is a great size too.
Positive experience: I thoroughly enjoy going to Aquafit twice weekly. The instructor is superb and the atmosphere is great. It’s a lovely pool with a terrific infant area, flume for the bigger kids and a wave machine. Lots of other fitness classes to partake of plus steam room and sauna. Good parking , disability friendly and helpful staff. Lately, hygiene has been slipping which was especially notable on the baby changing tray which needs a good scrub. Recently, the cafe has not been open due to staff shortages , nevertheless, there are vending machines, tables &chairs and an area to park wheelchairs and buggy. Despite the fixable faults, I would highly recommend Dunbar leisure
Positive experience: Only con is not enough changing rooms for the size of the centre. Family changing space woefully short.
Fantastic experience: Went there with my grandson. He loved it. Flumes and wave machine. Don't need to pre book.
Positive experience: Visited the pool during the school holidays, had to wait in a que to get in, thought the pool was very busy as the que for the flume was right down to the bottom of the stairs, also struggling to get a cubicle to get changed,as people were also leaving clothes in the cubicle rather than using a locker, will go back but don't think during school holidays
Fantastic experience: We visited here whilst on holiday in Gullane , both our kids loved this pool , especially the little slide in the shallow end , temperature in the pool was just right also
Fantastic experience: Brilliant We come from Edinburgh all the time love it wave machine amazing
Positive experience: It's okay. The gym needs less machines and more weights. Just saying I can use another gym doesn't really count when it's 15miles away. Also don't like how the membership includes everything when all I want is the gym. Bit of a waste. The receptionists all seem lovely and the other staff don't get in the way.
Fantastic experience: Love this place! It’s amazing that it’s seating looks straight out to the pool too!
Fantastic experience: Brilliant pool for adults & kids. Wave machine, flume, water spout & great staff. I love Dunbar swimming pool, just wish it was closer to where I live!
Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful time, the lady at reception helped us out after we had left some armbands at home. The pool was amazing and although our 4 year old was upset she couldn't go down the big slide with me, we still had a great time! Thanks!
Fantastic experience: Kids loved the wave pool and the slide, huge wait to get in (45mins) but the kids enjoyed it
Fantastic experience: 1h from city centre of Edinburgh... Still well worth to drive!!! My favourite pool... my little daughter absolutely loves this one! You should see her face when waves signal is sound! Highly recommended for toddlers!
Fantastic experience: It has a wonderful landscape and indoor poll near by
Fantastic experience: Just had our best family swim for ages. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. Thank you!
Positive experience: Fun leisure pool for the family, with wave machine, water cannon, and flume. Family changing area with cubicles, and £1 needed per locker(refunded after opening).
Fantastic experience: Great fun with waves and flume with 2 under 8. Found shower temperature too hot for children.
Fantastic experience: Great pool , good lockers and cafe for snacks , wave machine a flume
Fantastic experience: Visited as a family of 4. Lovely pool, pleasant steam room and sauna. Lovely lady on reception when we arrived. Made to feel very welcome. Busy.
Positive experience: We had a great time it's great to be back swimming very week
Positive experience: Nice and warm in the changing area, hot showers, good tube but unfortunate that it was only open for 5 minutes per hour. Wave machine not available
