Positive experience: Muscle Manor is a decent gym with friendly staff and good ambience. The best part about the gym was the timings. Shame that they have changed the morning timings with a week’s notice. Gutted that I have to look for new options as no more 5 am opening.
Fantastic experience: I was surprised to see so the negative reviews, so I thought I'd share my thoughts. This is a great independent gym, but it may not be for everyone. Negatives: -Some of the equipment is second-hand/dated. -Older equipment tends to break down more frequently. -Limited parking spaces. -The water dispenser is only available at reception. Positives: -A spacious gym with plenty of room, even during peak hours. -Well-organized equipment layout, so your not having to walk up and down the gym to complete your workout. -Despite being older, the equipment is great at targeting the intended muscles I’d prefer this over modern equipment that doesn’t always hit the spot. -Unique machines that you wont find in traditional gyms, such as a Tibbar, Donkey raise machine, Belted squat machine. -There are always plenty of plates available, so you never have to go far for the right weight. I personally don't use all the facilities so £45 a month feels a bit pricey, the yearly option at £365 works out to about £30 a month, which is much more reasonable.

Fantastic experience: Best independent gym I've gone to. All staff are friendly and the equipment is in good order. Love that there's plenty of squat racks
Negative experience: I had high hopes when I signed up for a membership at Muscle Manor Gym, but unfortunately my experience has been anything but satisfactory. The equipment is outdated, and many machines are often out of order for weeks at a time, with little to no communication about when they will be fixed. The gym is also overcrowded, especially during peak hours. There’s barely any space to work out, and it feels like a fight just to get access to a machine or weights. The cleanliness is another major!!!! What’s worse is the staff’s attitude. They are unhelpful, uninterested, and seem more concerned with chatting among themselves than assisting members. For the price they charge, I expected a much better experience. I regret signing up and will definitely be looking for a new gym
HI Dave, we have checked our system and I am sorry, but it appears to me you have never visited our facilities, so for you to make a review isn't really helpful. But thank you for the effort of trying to slander our gym that you have never stepped foot in.
Negative experience: Not worth the money (£60) and poorly managed, go to JD or pure
HI "A" we don't charge £60 for our membership and you would have known this if you have visited perhaps, so as the rest of your comments. And we appreciate you staying with commercial gyms as we are not one.
Negative experience: The appeal of this gym was the lower member numbers at double the price of gym group. The price has increase around 50% since last year (£30-35 to £45/month) and the equipment is similar quality (now) and maintained to a similar quality of gym group. At 1pm midweek it is full, at 7pm it has 4 people rotating the popular machines and weights are continually left on machines. A 1hr session now takes 2hrs meaning it is no longer worth the price. JD city centre and gym group Hathersage rd is less than half the price and less busy making it a much better option now.
HI D B, Thank you for your comment, however we need to clear up few things here. Firstly our prices didn't double in fact they have been reduced to match the facilities, area and our target audience. We also do not have similar equipment as the Gym Group simply as we have handpicked machines that we know work miles better than Matrix, due to many years of experience in training. Gym Group and JD you are keep mentioning, are commercial gyms and using Matrix equipment that isn't as user friendly as you might believe and its far away from Primal, lifestyle fitness, Jordan and our unique state of the art Bootybuilder equipment's that are very hard to find in UK. We do not want to be a commercial gym hence our equipment will be much better. We are an independent gym and a wellness centre who are trying to build community of like minded people. And bare in mind we are not even a year old and have changed some of the old school machinery as well and carry on updating. and to comment on the busyness of the gym, we are also far from being extremely busy as Gym Group or JD at peak times. WE do appreciate your comments and by all means not everyone will like our facilities and we understand this. We only cater for people who are serious about their training and recovery and appreciate the reasons behind the unique selection we have. I also hope you will find your place in the "not too busy" commercial gyms

Fantastic experience: Well excited when I saw an independent gym was opening in Fallowfield and wasn’t disappointed! Every couple of months new equipment is introduced, both to workout with and to recover (Infra red light therapy/ Sauna etc) so you know the owners care about making this the best facility possible. Staff are friendly and have created a really positive and supportive atmosphere. If you’re a bodybuilder/ power lifter/ sportsperson in South Manchester then this is the gym for you.

Fantastic experience: Really great gym. They open at 5 am which is AMAZING so I can get a sesh in before work. Variety and quality of equipment excellent and nice staff. Much better than the soulless chain gyms. Really recommend!

Positive experience: Lovely front desk staff & the gym is very spacious with a sauna! But, the equipment needs an upgrade , I don't think the space is utilised optimally.

Things I like about the gym: Equipment Selection of music that is played Friendly staff Sauna Changing rooms Workout areas and spaces Cleanliness of the gym Something the gym needs is a ab machine, I've not seen once since being here and this could be put in the tent area or even up the stairs in that sectioned area. Other than that the gym is excellent and I'm enjoying working out here.

Negative experience: Gym is like a charity shop, full of old broken equipment and teenagers, place feels cheap and would expect it to be the same price as somewhere like pure or gym group but a day pass was £12. not worth it. Mens showers were worse than a train station toilet. probably fine for students. most of the staff were friely but the last review is right about the manager, bad attitude and rude, not just to woman but felt like she was homophobic or had something up looking down on me. 1 star for being able to park.

We believe our gym offers an unparalleled experience compared to other local gyms, but we’re sorry to hear you feel differently. Regarding our manager, I apologise if she came across as rude – that was certainly not her intention. In fact, she’s very committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive atmosphere here at the gym, and right after your interaction, she was off to enjoy a drag show on Canal Street! Negative experience: The whole place is full of second hand gym stuff like they’ve bought everything off eBay and Facebook market place. Some staff are nice but the managed doesn’t ‘believe’ in powerlifting and there’s a spiteful female staff member who seems to be particularly jealous of other girls, likely because she doesn’t lift as much. Really not worth the price, even have the cheek to charge for the sunbeds despite the membership being extortionate. Whole place is also dusty and triggers my allergies. Student ‘discount’ is by no means student friendly.

Since our launch, we’ve opened our hybrid performance tent, which is kitted out exclusively with brand new weights and machines, and have introduced a full range of state-of-the-art booty builder machines in the glute zone. I am sorry that you do not believe our membership is worth its price; however, we believe we offer training facilities unparalleled to local commercial gyms. Negative experience: Reception staff are all extremely nice and helpful, and all appear to be as into the gym as the members. Considering the very high membership price, equipment is mostly second hand and there is often at least one machine out of order at any time. Additionally, all free weight bars and plates appear to be second hand, with no more than 1 pair of plates matching. For a site which is only a couple months old, there are far too many maintenance issues - leaks in ceiling etc. Music is often far too loud - making it impossible to have a simple conversation in the downstairs free-weights area. Finally, the membership cancellation process is awful - requiring you to cancel a full month before your planned leaving date. This makes it so that you are forced to pay for the following month to your cancellation.

Fantastic experience: Wery nice gym, nice machines the app Glofox has a lot of options as gym classes and protein shakes . The only thing I don't like is that half of the people sit and look at their phones instead of training . Today I had to wait for them to leave so i can use the equipment.Is a gym not a coffee shop or a house and is wasting others the time . Also I will recommend to be some blue roll paper and some cleaning spray so we can clean after we use the equipment because sometimes is sweat after people using .
Thank you for your feedback we appreciate it. Unfortunately people using there phones in between sets, and how long are they staying on certain equipment is something we cannot control. But we believe in sharing the equipment so if something like this happens again just ask the member to jump in using the machine while they are having a break. And we agree we have the reception area for our customers to have a break if they need to pre or post workout. We usually do place several antibacterial sprays and blue rolls on the gym floor if you cant find any or if we run out without us noticing please let us know We do try to make our members experience better each day, but in case we miss something we are happy to listen to our members.
Fantastic experience: Cool gym, identical or the right plates are a little hard to find sometimes, but nice machines, nice staff, nice people.
Fantastic experience: This is a great gym with a good variety of equipment. The sauna is nice, spacious and very clean. Opening at 5am during the week and 8am weekends is very convenient for me. One the the best gyms I've ever used. The old skool hip hop tunes that seem to be played all the time is pure class during workouts. Great gym, great friendly staff. I'd recommend to any and everyone.
Positive experience: Great gym and atmosphere. Only thing that keeps it from being perfect is the absense of a TBar rowing machine and a few specialty bars.
Negative experience: Very expensive & cancellation policy is predatory to swindle another month out of your membership. Poor practice.
Fantastic experience: Edit: 5 star now from 4. Since writing previously they've replaced all the weight plates with new ones and they've replaced a ton of the equipment with brand new stuff. Can't really complain when the gym is actively being improved! Old review: Great gym, lots of machines, staff are friendly and welcoming. Can get a coffee or a protein shake made here too. Definitely do recommend, but considering the price there are some things I feel should be included. Could do with adding dumbbells in more varied increments, bit annoying if someone's using the 30s, next up is the 35s and down is the 25s and there's only set of each. Mixed matched plates throughout the gym are a bit annoying too. Cleaning stations and another water refill point for the price wouldn't go a-miss either.

Fantastic experience: my favourite gym I’ve ever been a member of. You can tell the passion and genuine thinking which has come into this gym, as a girl who isn’t huge on lifting (I’m no where near as strong as some of the others who are here) I am so comfortable when I am here. Sauna? game changer. Dedicated picture room? Lighting is spot on! Cafe with espresso wherever you want!! (That was the driving factor for me, and brightens those early morning sessions). The general consensus here is everyone, staff and members alike, are all genuinely lovely people, its a community of people who want to see you succeed, push through the stress of your week and get a good booty pump. love love love.

Negative experience: Closed on 27.12.2023 regardless on information on ig and website to be open until 6pm. Additionally music too loud that is unbearable and fitting rooms are quite dirty. Sauna and 4 new platforms are the best features. If drawbacks aspects were improved it’s not that bad gym locally.
Positive experience: Pretty decent gym which was desperately needed in Didsbury. Great location, looked very promising but lots of equipment is 2nd hand and not in great condition. Has following - 2 commercial bench presses - DBs up to 70kg but after 15kg they are in 5kg jumps! - BLots of bars but all very random, there are 2 good power bars (texas bar + strength shop bar) but the knurling is completely worn - Plates even more random, think I counted at least 12+ different models of 20kg plates. Lots of standard barbell plates which is random. Hard to find what you are looking for sometimes. Hopefully they actually weigh what they should - Few cable stacks - Hack squat, pendulum squat, leg press, belt squat - Seal row, hip thrust - 4 power racks with more upstairs - Lots of other general machines - Sauna - Big outdoor area which is still being fitted out Think generally its a good gym, but definitely has a 2nd hand feel. Think its priced slighty high at £60 month as well. My wish list would be a portable flat bench thats at the proper height for powerlifting, maybe some new foam rollers and the rest I can live with!

Positive experience: One star for me. Muscle Manor is just what I need right now. Not too crowded with people hoarding equipment. Just hoping it doesn't get to that in a few months.
