We are a small, friendly, Crown Green Bowls Club. In 2023 the Club will be running eight teams (1 Men's and 7 Mixed),. There is a programme of club competitions, and organised social bowling and social events. New members are always welcome, whether they wish to be involved in club teams or only in social bowling. Members can use the green whenever there is no match on it. Over the winter months, the club enters teams in several indoor leagues at the Alfreton Bowls Centre and organises club social bowling sessions there. It organises a Social morning on Fridays as part of the Warm Spaces Initiative.
Belper Ladies Hockey Club was established in 1920 and has grown into one of the most successful clubs in the Midlands. Our junior achievements at Club through to National level, keep us at the forefront of Junior Hockey. We have 5 ladies teams - our Ladies 1st XI play in the National League.
We run junior age group teams, ‘Back to Hockey’ and have a thriving Mini Hockey group. We also join forces with our friends in the Men’s Hockey Club to play some very social Mixed Hockey, during the summer. We pride ourselves in creating a family orientated atmosphere, a welcoming attitude and our ability to offer a range hockey to suit all ages and abilities.
We are a friendly Club, with 3 Floodlit hard courts and 2 Grass courts; new members, both Juniors and Adults, of any standard of play, are welcome to join us. We have a good coaching team and we hold regular coaching sessions for Juniors. Adult Coaching is on Monday night for those that wish to improve their standards. Our Adult Club nights are Tuesdays and Thursdays start at 7pm and we play in all weathers throughout the year. We have 6 teams which play in the Derby Summer League and 4 teams in the Winter League. We have several social arrangements during the year including Tournaments, Quiz Nights and Dinners.
Hockey for “Man and Boy”. We have three generation families playing in our seven league teams catering for all abilities. From the “friendly” 7ths to the highly competitive Firsts (Derbyshire’s elite Men’s team) we welcome all abilities, including those who want to come “Back to Hockey”. You will find International standard players in the Veteran Teams (who play regularly) and our junior squads. In the past few years the boys have been National Champions at U11 to U18 levels. Mini Hockeyintroduces children aged 5 to 12 to hockey in a safe and fun way with caring coaching. Our mixed male/ female teams who play more for social enjoyment complete our Hockey Family.

Belper Meadows Community Sports Club: Opinions
Positive experience: Nice area, tucked just off the cobbled road refered to as the triangle for anyone looking for it. We went as away team at hockey. Didn't get to use the facilities but it seemed nice enough.
Positive experience: Great amenities for several sports with easy access to some lovely walks.
Positive experience: Came here for bonfire night. Nice community and good facilities. Make sure you locate parking before big events though!
Negative experience: We attended the annual fireworks last night for the first time. Many local firework displays were cancelled as a result of heavy rain throughout the day, this one went ahead. The conditions were awful, constant rain. The start of the fireworks delayed by over 45 minutes (not sure of the point of the quiet fireworks with the disco pounding out in the background) and the actual fireworks further delayed. It was not good value for money as the firework display was clearly 'dampened' by the severity of the weather. Despite waiting as long as we could in the rain, we were not able to stay for the full fireworks as we had another commitment for dinner elsewhere. I feel that we did not get what we paid for and the tickets and fees were not inexpensive. The weather cannot be controlled but the decision to postpone or cancel should have been taken. Extremely disappointed to be honest.
