Our comment from FitFit UK about Corby International Pool:

Corby International Pool is a modern and well-maintained facility that offers a variety of amenities for both fitness enthusiasts and families. The gym is equipped with top-notch equipment and caters to users of all ages, while the swimming pool includes an Olympic-sized section and areas designed specifically for children.

Highlights of Corby International Pool include:

  • Friendly and helpful staff that enhance the overall experience.
  • Clean and tidy facilities, providing a pleasant environment for swimming and exercise.
  • A decent range of pricing options, making it accessible to various customers.
  • Special areas for children, including a fun pirate ship water feature.
  • Regular swimming lessons with excellent instructors.

However, there are some areas identified for improvement:

  • The locker system has been criticized for its unreliability, with many lockers reportedly out of order.
  • The cleanliness in certain areas, particularly the changing rooms, has raised concerns among visitors.
  • Issues with the online booking system have been noted, leading to frustrations among users trying to secure swim times.
  • Water temperature in some pools, especially for young children, could be more comfortable.
  • Occasional long wait times for phone assistance have hampered the overall customer service experience.

Despite these challenges, most reviews highlight the enjoyable experiences at Corby International Pool, particularly praising the range of facilities and the overall friendliness of the staff. It remains a popular choice for families and fitness enthusiasts in Corby.

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience at this gym and swimming pool! The facilities are modern, clean, and well-maintained. The staff is incredibly friendly and always ready to help. The gym equipment is top-notch, and the pool is perfect for both relaxation and serious swimming. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great fitness and wellness environment!

Negative experience: Went there today with 2 small kids and left after 30 min of staying. Water was freezing...my kids were shaking in the water so we decided to leave. Receptionist were not so friendly either. We were given 1 locker what wasn't enough for 4 of us. Won't go there again

Thank you Adriana for your comments. These have been passed onto the pool management.

Positive experience: Good boost water shallow class. Great for low impact exercise using a tablet. Build strength and stability at your own pace.

Positive experience: Decent price, good facilities, friendly staff, not a massive fan of the locker system though. Would love it it they made the Olympic 50m pool fully useable.

Dustin Hardy 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Great facilities, very clean, waters at good temp and my kids love the flume.

Alan Edmunds 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Good gym, massive pool. Nice health suit. It is what you expect from a big council run facility. Easy access parking and walkable from the town centre, bus stops etc.

Stacy Lincoln 1 year ago

Positive experience: They finally fixed the lockers but it's still a little grubby for an international pool. Now a charge for the hair dryers because of people breaking them, the changing rooms always smell of urine, the slide is never open it's always hit and miss, the spectator area has a lift upstairs and toilets but no changing facilities upstairs so if you have a young child you need to go to the restaurant. This is an awful design feature if you are a spectator. The restaurant is quite pricey as well. Kids pool is good, larger pool can get a little cold but I think they are increasing the temperature.

V. K. 1 year ago

Positive experience: The hairdryers are ridiculous. Cost 50p (in this day still need to use coins!!!! Is this a museum or what?), and absolutely useless, almost not blowing, do not dry hair at all. In summer doesn't matter, but in winter it is absolutely not nice to go outside with wet hair, especially if not available to use the car and need to walk. An improvement on these would be, appreciated.

Positive experience: Nice pool and spa area.

Fantastic experience: Pool and sauna are good places to chill after working day or workout. Cleanliness in the gym are not on the highest level form time time, seems like some areas haven’t been clean for a while. Some equipment would also benefit from good maintenance and cleaning.

Positive experience: Amazing pool, but seems over crowded in the kids/secondary pool…

Negative experience: The pool itself is good such a shame cant be said about the reception staff. You have so many negative reviews about the same thing but you cant seem to change the fact it takes forever to answer the phones. (my longest wait was over an hour) I booked over the phone today and the girl was pleasant (only a 30 min wait this time) however the last time i booked i was (eventually) answered by a older sounding lady who seemed more interested in berating me for not wanting to book online rather than actually doing her job, really wish i got her name now as she really did have a disgusting attitude and clearly though doing her actual job was a hindrance. You need to understand, booking online may be easier for you. but there are still people out there who choose not to book online.

Emma tanswell 1 year ago

Negative experience: Husband booked over the phone, they don’t take a name so when we arrived there was no recollection of our booking thankfully they let us through anyway as we had proof of payment, life guards don’t seem to give a toss, went in the under 5s pool and my 1 year old kept getting knocked by older kids and balls kept getting thrown at us. An accident waiting to happen.

Rachael 1 year ago

Negative experience: I have been trying to make contact on the phone for approximately 30 minutes plus. When I did manage to get through the staff that I spoke too was unable to tell me if they had enough staff to supervise the slide and all areas of the pool to be open. I explained that I have a child with complex additional needs and would need to know because if the slide wasn’t open this would course him huge upset and not understanding why he couldn’t go on. The phone call was then cut off. I am currently trying to get through again and have been waiting for another 20 minutes with no answer. Very poor service. If there is a slide and children’s play pool it needs to be all open and managed well especially in the school holidays.

Hello Rachael. Thank you for your comments. Our phones are always very busy at this time of year and I apologise that you had to wait to get through to a customer advisor. Our summer programme does not start until Monday 29th July at the pool. We have taken on board your comments and added to our listing on the summer activities on the NNC website, www.northnorthants.gov.uk/holidayactivities “The aqua tube will be open for a duration of time during each session”. Thank you.

Negative experience: Great pool and changing facilities. Poorly organised and terrible website make it almost impossible to register or book. Phone rarely answered by staff.

Monica Sharma 1 year ago

Positive experience: Not satisfied with the staff over there. Not giving clear information....

Rose McCloskey 1 year ago

Positive experience: Nice pool facility with the most ridiculous online booking system. I can only book one session per account, so there is no way that I can book a swimming session for myself and my child. Clearly a 6 year old shouldn't need his own log in with email address. It is possible to phone up and book but often I am on hold for ages when I try to do that.

Ben Nickolls 1 year ago

Positive experience: Excellent swimming facilities and good for children’s swimming. Only fault was the lockers hardly any of them worked

lewis Franklin 1 year ago

Negative experience: Set times now and the number of weekends this place is off limits to the public due to club swimming events is ridiculous.

Negative experience: Have so much potential, But is going downhill really fast looks like no one is cleaning anything inside such a shame…..

Melanie Disher 1 year ago

Negative experience: Over the last 6 months this facility has been getting worse and worse despite their prices going up. Good luck finding a locker that actually works, the toilets are disgusting and the changing rooms almost as bad. This used to be a good facility but investment is needed and doesn’t seem to be coming from the price increases introduced last year.

Shelley Bamfield 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Had a wonderful time with my son, it was clean, the staff were friendly and the facilities were good. We visited during the Easter school break so it was very busy but we still got a fair few lengths in and he had great fun on the water slide, which he used at least 10 times during the hours we were there. My only "grumble" is the locker system should have instructions, though we worked it out pretty quickly and then helped a few others

Emma Turner 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: The small kids pool is amazing, my little one loves it, and never wants to leave. The pool is always warm. I like the fact you have to book so it's not over crowded. Highly recommend

Fantastic experience: Great pool and 60 p parking happy to go again lol but long phone call waiting

Matthew Hague 1 year ago

Negative experience: Why do you not allow parents to take their kids down the slide like every other swimming pool I've been to. Fair enough having a height restriction for solo riding like other places but I don't see why you have to be such kill joys.

Derrick Duffield 1 year ago

Positive experience: Showers are constantly scalding hot, even after repeatedly reporting the issue. My kids can't shower after swimming as it literally burns them. I can barely stand in them for a couple of seconds.

Ian Stone 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Always a good experience when visiting the pool...Especially on an early weekend

Shane Harrison 1 year ago

Positive experience: Been going here since 1997, corby swimming pool has changed loads, not always easy to navigate bookings on the website as it is not easy to always call, was a member during lockdown and left after being charged full rate membership with no use of the health studio. Also booked into diving a couple times paid and haven't been able to attend, also the council is horrible why pay to park a car at a facility your already paying to use. Staff very friendly and welcoming as always. I love corby diving boards 5m isn't enough for me anymore, would love to go hirer, and have lessons.

C F 2 years ago

Positive experience: Not very clean and I hate the fact that after covid they still keep limited sessions

Lawrence Ferguson 2 years ago

Positive experience: Any chance you can recalibrate the touch screens on the gym machines, so I don't have to guess where to press? I'm pretty sure this is simple to do. Do that and I'll add a star.

lee lovett 2 years ago

Negative experience: Been going few months and overall.happy.but have seen a steady decline in service, standards and attitudes. I can count on one hand the staff that are professional and helpful. But the majority of them are always on their phones, talking amongst themselves which doesnt set good impression. And not seem to care about customer service. The health suite has been out of action 3 times this week, that we are paying for a factilty that we cannot use, fully understand maintenance has to happen, but this should happen during closed hours not when paying customers are wanting to use the faculty. are you as going to offer some.sort of reimbursement, seeing as you quick enough to take our money. Why are peopl being allowed to use menthol agents in the health spa when there is signs saying not to, yet the staff walk through and do or say nothing. I have left my details at the desk this morning and i know it not the receptionist fault the.lady.this mornin was helpful and understanding, but they at the public facing and take the brunt- where the managment to deal with the compliants.. hiding in back office no doubt - they should be out front when there is a problem. When are the lockers going to be fixed as there seems to be less and less working now.. just needs to be rectifeid asap.before noone has a locker to use. This facilty is being run down by the managment and staff that dont care

Jotaro Kujo 2 years ago

Positive experience: My son did a backflip into the swimming pool and the lifeguards beat him to death when he climbed out. In all fairness he was warned once but still a slight overreaction

Diana Duffield 2 years ago

Negative experience: I had not been to Corby Pool for 6 months or so but this experience was completely awful. I booked over the phone for the 20m pool to find it fully booked when I arrived. The changing rooms smelled strongly of pee and had food all over the floor, half the lockers weren't working. Worst of all were the scolding hot showers. I had a 3 and a 5 year old with me and it could have really hurt them. All down the line of showers kids were calling out in pain. It was too hot for an adult. I told the ladies at reception when I left and their response was, "Well nobody else has complained."

Rachel Elliott 2 years ago

Positive experience: Reasonable price disabled swimming with good changing room facilities 20m pool could do with been slightly warmer and drainage smelly

John Bosworth 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: WOW, So impressed with Corby Pool ! I went last Thursday, just to look and a young lady took time out to show me the facilities. I used the pool today and everything exceeded my expectations. The premises were clean and tidy, the young lady on till 1 was lovely and so helpful, taking time to explain everything. The pool was a delight to use; warm, spacious, clean and well maintained. I came away really pleased and will certainly be returning. Thankyou Corby staff. Gets a 10 from John!

Catherine Black 2 years ago

Positive experience: Good pool, nice shallow pool for the children. A little dated and changing rooms could be a little better. But it's nice that they have ones where a family can change together.

Sarah 2 years ago

Positive experience: Been waiting half hour on phone trying to get through.... If they need a receptionist I have family members looking for work....if not then do something about your services.

Giles Batchelor 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Went with a friend to talk about how they can access the pool facilities as a disabled person. The member of staff who talked to us was really friendly and super helpful.

Mihai Erhan 2 years ago

Negative experience: The place is in need of urgent renovation. Most of the cabinets are out of order. The changing cubicles are not closing properly, and they need to stand outside and protect the door. The hairdryer used to be free of charge, but now cost 0.50 pence.

Will Ravenscroft (WillRaven15) 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Fantastic swimming pools. Olympic pool, 20m learner pool and a baby pool. Changing rooms are always in good condition. Reasonable prices.

A Villette 2 years ago

Positive experience: Lovely pool but paying £5 deposit for locker is a bit steep especially if it take up to 3 days to be refunded.

Mark Stobbart 2 years ago

Negative experience: Very rubbish Used to be able to free roam now you str restricted to one tiny pool for the full time

Linda Wilding 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Very pleasant first visit. I did the slow lane swim. Clean surroundings. Friendly and helpful staff. Parking at front and back of pool. 60p for 2 hrs. Swim for a senior is £2.90. Children under 5 free. Separate pools. Pirate ship area. Learning pool.

Connor Silk 2 years ago

Negative experience: Don't bother if you have a baby. Under 5 pool is full of older children who are knocking and pushing younger kids. Life guards weren't bothers moving them on.

Sara Guy 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: We always go to Corby International Swimming pool as my son won't go anywhere else. I'm not great with the online booking system, so we always risk just turning up. A few times, they have been fully booked for that time, but have booked us in for the next session with no problem. If you can book online first, I would recommend it, though. The sessions are an hour and a half, which is great, and there is half an hour between each session. There are 5 pools of varying depths and lengths and we have always found all staff (both on the front desk and lifeguards) helpful and friendly, even when it is really busy. The car park is also very reasonably priced (£1 for up to 3 hours).

Gemma Harvey 2 years ago

Positive experience: Warm pool has 5 pools in total good slide good clean place. Kids love the different size pools and the pirate ship is so good for the kids . Good price.

Joshua Thompson 2 years ago

Positive experience: Good clean facilities with easy access and a range of offerings. Only downside water temperature in the under 5s is a little cold.

Maja x 2 years ago

Negative experience: I came in for teen fit for 5 days with no problem until this lady ( she had her hair in a bun ) accused me of not bringing in a form which I had proof that I did. This caused me to miss my whole gym session, and she also had the nerve to tell me that she had another lady to assist when I came in before her!! At first paying 13.50 a month wasn’t too bad but now I’ve realised how time wasting the staff members can be.

liam allen 2 years ago

Positive experience: It's a nice pool but very basic. Not a lot of space as always have lessons and lanes so jot huge space for the children. Booking system really poor. We do use often for kids and is nice staff friendly but there are more enjoyable pools about.

Mark Stockman 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great pool....gets a bit busy and I think you should book online to make sure you get in but we had a good time.

Gary Smith 2 years ago

Negative experience: Just been to take my son swimming for his swimming lesson today, very poor cleanliness in changing rooms found a dirty nappy on top of a locker, discovered a broken chair in the viewing area that is a health + safety hazard needs to be taken seriously if you get inspections or audits through the north Northamptonshire council. Finally safeguarding rules should be taken with immediate effect as most leisure firms do not allow public swims and swimming lessons take place unless it’s a private 1-1 swim lesson where the teacher takes out liability insurance through swim England.

Hello Gary sorry to hear of the poor cleanliness in the changing rooms on your visit to to the pool. Please forward an email address [email protected] and we will reply directly to you. Kind regards Lynne

Jake Murray 2 years ago

Negative experience: I am beyond sick and tired of the swimming pool being cold,  it's not a comfortable temperature at all, and when swimming, I feel cold; if you look into the reviews on google maps, you'll be able to see that I am not the only one who feels this way, that along with not being able to swim in a straight line. Instead, even though I know I am a slow swimmer, I can't swim in the slow lane because of the children and teenagers taking over that space diving and cannon-bombing. At the same time, the lifeguards are too focused on trying to mock sign language by gesturing to each other, which is just offensive, especially to deaf people like me. I cannot just decide I want to go for a swim. Instead, I do need to make a reservation which is fine because then it means I would be able to have at least space to swim, but rather, what tends to happen is I'll reserve the health suite so I can get changed and then after swimming in the cold pool I can then jump into the very lukewarm jacuzzi that is very high with chemicals and causes discomfort to my eyes. I have also to use the health suite carefully because a few customers like to add their menthol chemicals which the staff hasn't checked and add an unknown amount of it, and it's so uncomfortable I can't even use this unless it's early in the morning or very late in the evening which is an inconvenience to me. The health suite reservation times are inconvenient too because if I reserve it for the health suite wrongly think I can use the pool during that time. Still, I have to waste half an hour waiting for the countless swimming lessons in all four swimming pools or if the gala competitions are happening. Either way, the pool is unusable regardless of what I do, and the health suite shouldn't be called a health suite as the facilities are inadequate. There is also the gym which is equally as disappointing; I have found that due to the teenager sessions, which were meant to be supervised, really are not, instead what happens is you'll have a lot of them taking over machines or taking over valuable space in the core workout areas and on their phones or trying to chat to one another leaving full paying members such as myself to wait until they were done before being able to use the machines. The staff are not supervising the teenagers and often chat with other teams behind the desk. I've even had occasions where teenagers told me to move because they wanted to use the space even though I was there first. A lot of the machines as well are very outdated and do not offer the same features as modern exercise machines do, such as synching up with my smartwatch or being able to blow air into my face while I'm exercising; I am aware it's meant to be a feature but take a look at any of the treadmills or cardio machines and take a look at the vent that is intended to blow air, it's filled with dust and dead bugs which are not pleasant while working out.

Negative experience: Paid to get into swimming with two young children. Only to find pirate pool and other kids pool have signs saying pool closed. No warning at reception on arrival. Asked life guard when pool open again and told you have to book for it. Nowhere does it say this on website or in reception otherwise I would have definitely booked with young children. Lived in area and have come to this pool new and old for 40 years. Very disappointed never found these areas closed before on previous visits☹️ I would call before you waste your money especially if you have young kids to see if all open.

Ian Silva (GringoSabe) 2 years ago

Negative experience: Online booking system it's difficult to navigate and not as easy as you would think it should be to book swimming slots. Phone number for the pool gets disconnected as soon as someone answers it. Online booking system needs to improve in order to fully be free of phone calls booking.

Marcin Klosok 2 years ago

Negative experience: It would be great if reception answered the phones. Place has potential but manages it poorly. You now cannot go to sauna without having monthly sub which was not the case pre covid. Slide for kids is open whenever the staff decides and it is not because of lack of staff. Many times being there i asked the lifeguard if it will be open only to be told no staff to only look at few wandering around ( among the ones lookig at the pools) or simply opening it 20 mins later when walking out. Can you not implement automated light system as is the case all over the world!!!

Negative experience: Receptionist never pick up the phone to answer enquiries. I went to the reception, and asked why they wouldn’t pick up the phone. They said they were incredibly busy. I decided to expose their lies upfront. The reception was empty, with absolutely no one queuing. Just two receptionists sat giggling and talking. I rang the phone, and neither picked up. I went over and asked again, why don’t you pick up your phones? They said again “we’ve been incredibly busy” I pulled my phone up and said, “well I’m ringing you now, you don’t look very busy, why haven’t you picked up” They looked at me blankly and embarrassed and said “well that’s just immature of you”. Absolutely pathetic staff, great pool though and top notch lifeguards. Just don’t expect to ever get through to the reception. You get more answers about the pool by calling the leisure centre gym! Absolutely pathetic.

Negative experience: Attended for half term swim session (we are visitors to the area so unfamiliar with the pool). Were told we could not come in as we hadn't booked and that it said to book on website...in spite of the fact that we had thoroughly checked the website (it turned out that the popup telling you to book wasn't working). No apology, woman at the desk was incredibly rude even though it was the pool's fault. We had come a fair way and were turned away with very little acknowledgement of the company's fault. Saw other families turned away too.

I really enjoy visiting dry sauna. Cold and warm showers available. Everyone can get to Health and Spa suite with other door behind the cafeteria. Gym at the top floor is very well equipped. A lot of machines, weights and dumbbells. Power lifting area. A very large studio for classes. Everyone can use it outside the timetable. Price is very good comparing to other places.

Positive experience: Very good pool and definitely improved over the years. Like everywhere it has its floors but it also has some great features. Swimming instructors are fantastic with my children during lessons and I couldn't be more grateful for their help. Sauna , steam room and jacuzzi is .. Nice.. it's always clean however I often find it over crowded and have to leave when I haven't been in for long after a swim. The gym is great, not too busy, supportive and air conditioning. The lockers seriously need fixed though, it puts us off coming having to hunt for a locker that actually works and a changing room that is actually lockable!

Fantastic experience: Great place. My children love their swimming lessons. Sometimes hard to get a space on your avail days, especially after the stage moves up, but staff does make sure demands are met, and lessons continue.

Maria Parker 3 years ago

Positive experience: Great pool but it's often difficult to swim because so many people are in the pool. The main pool is never fully in use and always lanes are closed for swimming lessons although no one in them. They seem to have plenty of lifeguards on duty and often pairs of them stand around chatting. Non members use the health suite as anyone can access from the pool area. Steam room and jacuzzi often not working. When galas are on you can't use the pool all weekend!

Emma Pinches 3 years ago

Negative experience: Generally quite clean and very accessible and easy to maneuver round. Lovely little pool for the kiddies. But the booking system is shocking, no-one responds to emails, phones are left unanswered, and canteen was closed. The worst point of the day is that I booked a 13.30-14.30 slot. We got there dead on 13.30 to be told at 14.00 that the pool was closing? We got changed and seen a load of people back in the pool? Have emailed my complaint but so far nothing. I think £15 for 30 mins is quite extortionate.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic pool- came for a swimming gala, plenty of seating but can get hot as expected. Clean facilities and son said the changing area was good too.

Fantastic experience: An amazing facility! Very high tech, very clean, very friendly helpful staff! Well worth the extra mileage to visit this pool even driving past our local to get there, we shall be back regularly :)

Fantastic experience: Only getting 5 stars because of the duty manager Hannah who was superb, give her a pay rise! Also the lady on reception who helped us after our two small children lost their minds because the awful incompetent people who man their phone lines give completely inaccurate information. Long story short assured no need to book after phoning twice only to arrive and fully booked. Hannah and the lovely lady on reception came to the rescue and sorted us out. Lovely facilities, great pool! Just need to urgently address the training given to people on the phones, starting with able to retain basic facts about the actual facilities. It must drive the staff at the pool mad dealing with irate parents and crying kids. Luckily my two left smiling and happy! Thank you Hannah and reception lady!

Positive experience: Fantastic pool and gym facility right in the centre of town. My daughter loves her swimming lessons and we often enjoy leisure swims for a very reasonable price. Only thing that lets it down are the often slow moving queues at the door and the sometimes less than speedy service in the cafe area.

Fantastic experience: It is an amazing swimming pool for a small town, one of the best in UK. 11 years old now, and sadly, the changing rooms need a refit.

Positive experience: It was good to take the children on a Saturday morning. Not impressed that the prices advertised are not what are charged at the pool. Not the fault of the staff

Negative experience: Booked in for swim with my 3 children 2 of them under 3 and they booked us in the dive end.! Very upset children wasn't impressed with the lack of communication!! Fancy booking Young infants in a deep dive end.!!
