Fantastic experience: Great gym, I love coming here. Especially Carla’s energy in spin and Jenny’s Pilates classes. Lots of equipment and very reasonable pricing.

Positive experience: Good just needs more advanced tools

Negative experience: Tried calling multiple times regarding membership cancellation issue no one answers it looks like I have to get the law involved in this issue

Positive experience: Just moved to the area. Good sized gym, equipment is good, just very frustrating that so many of the machines are still built for men, making it challenging for us ladies to use them as effectively as possible. Example - leg curl, pad stops too high so your knee won’t stay against it and the ankle pad sits too far away, really difficult to use. ** edited as I can’t reply, I am aware you can change positions of the machines that’s not the issue! The issue is they are built for men so even when moved into position it’s not usable for some women!

Positive experience: I've been a member for a little while, using the gym in the mornings. It has everything you need, the ladies' part is small. Surprising the number of people who do not use a towel when at the gym. Very small number of lockers that are usable, a lot are damaged and broken. This probably why so many people have bags or belongings by the machine they are using in the gym. A matter of time before someone has an accident.

Positive experience: Nice clean well equipped gym with free parking. My only gripe is even though it's open 24h the changing rooms/showers are not. You can't use them after 10pm in the week and 8pm weekends.

Positive experience: It's my gym, I go four times a week. Lots of recent renovations, going 24/7 pretty soon. Only issue I'd say is the cleaner rarely re stocks the girls bathroom. Thwre is often days without toilet paper and no soap in the dispensers.

Fantastic experience: Plenty of equipment. No need to wait for bench to do your workout. Friendly staff. Nice music and vibe.

Positive experience: Been with the gym now for a year, constant training for 6 months and I have to say it is the best gym I've been to and great value for money! All good equipment I've never had an issue with any of it, only giving 4 stars though as would be better if it was open 24hr like the one in Cardiff and also sometimes it feels like the aircon isn't working probably cause its boiling especially upstairs.

Fantastic experience: Really nice gym but you will be waiting around as most of the people in there take over 1 hr to do 3 sets because they are on there phones constant

Negative experience: Hi I have a little question about ur gym I been going there a wile now but I noticed how things have changed to age groups but the question I'd like to ask is it a gym or youth centre because I go there and all I see is groups if young youths in groups more interested in meeting up and chatting on the floor and it's over powering people that go there to properly use ur facilities can someone look at this and solve the issues thank you ,,,,,

Fantastic experience: Literally the best gym around! Friendly staff, members, lots of equipment, awesome classes and a huge studio! Les Mills Body Pump and Combat!

Positive experience: For the price, I do not think there is a better gym in Newport. Plenty of space and equipment. Compared to the local Puregym this place is a blessing from Almighty God. There is also free parking as it's in Spytty. The only reason why it ain't 5 stars is the fact that you have to enter using an app which is annoying because you're forced to take your phone to the gym and recently the app has been glitching which means everytime I go to the gym, I've been standing there restarting the app multiple times so it would work. They used to be pin entrance which for some reason they've stopped. The other reason is that it's not 24/7 while the other JD gyms such as in Cardiff are although I did hear rumours that this gym will soon be 24/7 but not sure when this will take place.

Positive experience: The gym is great. I wish it was open longer however, Oml that musicccc. Pleaseeeee for the love of everything good change the music. At this rate the radio would be better.

Positive experience: Happy with this gym overall, few issues with machines but have seen guys in fixing things twice. I raised an issue once with cleaning and that was dealt with the next morning and has been maintained since. So credit where credit is due. All staff I've encountered have been lovely and helpful too.

Negative experience: Bad experience dont go

Positive experience: Variety of equipment good when it works there has been a couple of machines now not working for several weeks I understand parts take time but personally I think this is too long maybe you should have put a replacement in for short term. The gym is busy and these are important pieces of kit. Also I think empty cans and bottles that have been around the place in the same place for days doesn’t give a good impression of the cleaning standards or staff doing checks

Positive experience: More cable machine attachments needed, there are eleven cables but only two pull down ropes.

Positive experience: Decent gym, lots of equipment. Although you aren't allowed to use chalk

Positive experience: Quieter in the morning. We all know what it's like early evening (peak time), hard to get a machine, especially if there's 3/4 people training together.

Negative experience: You open at 8am, waited half hour u still not open.

Fantastic experience: What more can you ask for from a budget gym. Lots of prices of cardio equipment and the temperature is always kept cool.

Negative experience: Dreadful head office - was a nightmare cancelling- joined puregym Newport…. Would recommend highly if anybody is unsure between the two gyms

Fantastic experience: £10 for 1st month with referral code, £19.99 per month on 1 month contract. Excellent value for money. Signing up procedure was incredibly easy. App is easy to understand and use. Entry using the QR code is easy. Machinery is plentiful and in good state. Changing rooms are clean and showers are powerful and hot.

Positive experience: decent gym…needs to update equipment to latest machines..also needs to be 24hr but a very good gym

Positive experience: Great gym and a mix of people of all abilities/genders which gives it a better atmosphere. I’d say the air con needs to be turned up especially during heatwaves I’ve found it hard to be in there. Other than that I’ve enjoyed using it!

Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is its not 24 hours like other jd gyms or even like there competition within the area such as PureGym

Positive experience: Limited resistance machines. Big free weights area on ground floor. Classes also limited with odd timings. Only use it because it's cheap and convenient. Had there been other cheaper convenient options would not have used this gym.

Positive experience: Great gym overall- plenty of space and equipment. There is one very spacious room which, when not in use for classes, offers huge amount of space for all sorts of workouts. I love artificial grass track with sled to push/pull. The only reason for missing one star is lack of leg equipment- only one leg extension machine?

Fantastic experience: Fabulous gym with amazing instructors. I absolutely love all of Cara's classes and Jenny's yoga and Zumba are incredible. I would really encourage non class users to try them. The brilliant classes are the beating heart of this gym.

Fantastic experience: There is plenty of equipment to use but it does get very busy in the evenings. We normally try and go in the morning before work.

Positive experience: Good gym, disappointed that they stopped using the keypad, for entry, now have to use the app on my phone. I never take my phone to the gym, why would I??? Also, only one leg extension machine, pretty poor considering the size of the gym. Dumbbells never put back in the correct place, and doesn't appear to be enough plates for the amount of benches and free weight machines.

Fantastic experience: Been attending classes and general gym for a week and I’m not disappointed. There’s a women only section for anyone who wants/needs it. Busy around 5/6pm but there’s always equipment and machines available. Classes always have space, just turn up and keep an eye on the timetable.

Negative experience: Been there a few months and thay keep cancelling the classes. First night I went to do yoga cancelled. Cancelled 2 classes this week at a moments notice I think that is very disrespectful to the trainer and the people doing the classes. Probably won't be there much longer

Positive experience: Would have been 5 stars if the assault bike was fixed within 6 months

Fantastic experience: Brilliant gym. Great equipment, plenty of space and above all - friendly and helpful staff! 4 years in Puregym Newport and none of the staff even acknowledged me once. Several days in JD and the staff welcome you in, smile at you and seem like they actually want to be there!

Fantastic experience: First visit since they reopened, it's amazing in there. Plenty of equipment for all kinds of exercise. I am going to be aching in the morning - but it was oh so worth it just spent a longer session there & I am definitely feeling it now. Which is perfect

Positive experience: Absolutely love this gym. The equipment is great and it’s so much better since it was refurbished from exercise4less to JD. My only gripe is the small number of leg machines. They have 2 leg curls, 1 leg extension, 2 leg press - there’s more calf machines than anything else. For the size of the gym this really insufficient. Always a struggle to get on leg machines. It’s also impossible to find the mystical EZ bar which the staff insist is there. If these things were rectified I’d easily give this 5 stars. Unfortunately due to the lack of leg equipment I am looking to change gyms

Positive experience: nice gym, very clean as there is always someone cleaning the place . good equipment, would have given it 5 stars but some of the cable machines are lacking accessories. I have actually bought some of my own accessories to take with me , but you should not have to do this. apart from a few niggles its great

Positive experience: Nice size gym. Good equipment. Only downside are the lack of ventilation in the changing rooms/toilets. The price also needs to be reduced from £19.99 to at least £15 with it not being a 24hr gym.

Negative experience: Male Changing room is cleaned each morning by female what disturbing every male Member who would like take shower. Easy solution will be clean changing room before opening time so this doesn’t cause issue.

Positive experience: Pros: great kit, nicely fitted out, nice staff, very clean, good aircon. Cons: it thinks it’s a nightclub. Music dreadful and loud enough in some areas to make your ears bleed.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. I'm generally a hot person so I reckon the aircon could be boosted a bit. Especially in this heat, but the atmosphere is good, people of all different stages there so you never feel out of place. They seem to have renewed a few cushions since last week. As far as they can tell they have a lot of strength equipment downstairs and For 20 a month, it's pretty damn good.

Fantastic experience: Great variety of classes. Big, spacious and friendly! Good Value for Money!
