Fantastic experience: Great gym and atmosphere

Negative experience: No complaints about the gym but trying to leave is a headache I am getting charged by Harlands for payments I have already made. The manager of Harlow confirm my cancellation and told me I had paid my last monies, however Harlands are now trying to charge me even more money, stating i didn't pay and they'll add a late payment charge for something i have already paid for. Why is the gym not communicating across to Harlands.

Positive experience: Good facilities for a reasonable price. However they could suggest members to look after their hygiene and use antiperspirant before popping into the gym? An email could work. It's really disgusting to be lifting a weight and someone's armpits nearby smell like they are harvesting rotten onions! it's very disrespectful going to a public space with that smell.

Negative experience: This is the most UNSAFE gym I have been too!!! After my workout I went back to the changing rooms to collect my things from my locker to find out that my combination lock had been broken into and wasn’t even there. My things had been moved to a different locker and some things had been stolen; house keys, air pods and some money. This gym is so unsafe as they just leave the gym entrance open, that you don’t even need to enter your own unique pin to enter the gym. Literally anyone can enter the gym even if you don’t have a membership and steal your belongings. The staff at the reception don’t even bother to check if you have a membership. The gym contacted me 2 days after the incident and told me that they can’t do anything about this and told me to go make a police report if I want to.

Fantastic experience: I cannot fault what you get here for your money! Ive paid twice what I pay here for gyms with less service - all the classes are included, its always clean and tidy, theres a ladies gym section, a good array of equipment - nothing to complain about and very glad to have it back up and running! There's the odd machine out but isn't that the case in pretty much every gym?! Love it here! Amazing value for money!

Negative experience: An absolute joke of a gym. I was going to this gum for nearly 2 years and not once did I walk into a clean and tidy gym. The weights were always all over the floor , showers and changing rooms were a mess. Broken equipment, holes in the wall etc etc, lucky to get a hot shower Aswell. I left this gym for the reasons above and now they are chasing me for outstanding Money and have passed it on to a debt collection agency which is laughable. There are many better gyms around than this one that’s for sure.

Negative experience: I setup my membership and then i decided to cancel it. Before use Gym I cancelled my direct debit and I paid an extra £25 for wrong cancellation procedure. The easy way to make money!!!!

Fantastic experience: Good place to work out

Negative experience: It's a shame really, the time I did spend at the gym was alright. but has been since been let down. I came in with a broken hand and reported I could not come to the gym anymore. Lady behind the counters said she would cancel my membership. so I cancelled my direct debit. Now as of today found out some scam company that they use called harlands is trying to charge me £108 for a membership I have not used for 3 months. which can be seen by my entry stamps. and to top it all off I got 3 people to join the gym which still go and this is how they treat you. and then when you speak to harlands they say its not they problem this is what you owe. go talk to the gym and put the phone down. I think me and my friends will look at another gym from now on. not very fair way to treat any customer.

Positive experience: Great gym, excellent facilities, however the maintenance of the equipment and facilities is shocking. Literally takes months for something to get fixed. Even down to the clips for the cables. If one is broke, the whole machine is out of order for ages. One water fountain for the whole entire gym because the upstairs one has been out of order for months.

Positive experience: Good gym with lots of machines and helpful staff but not a very good location. Very competitive prices though.

Negative experience: Reasonably equipped ,very dull atmosphere with gay music ! 80 percent are on there phones doing a thumb workout ,there's a couple' of staff who are lovely and the rest are lazy and don't even walk around and correct that massive majority of people that are doing a exercise totally wrong ,,I train here because it's cheap otherwise I would go to a decent gym that suites my weight training needs better ! The most sociable person that works in this gym is the polish cleaner ,he should be the manager because he makes the effort to say hello to people and he doesn't even know a word of English ,if he could speak English he would be the best member of staff for building morale and keeping everyone happy !

Negative experience: THE BIGGEST CON GOING BE CAREFULL!!! I signed up over a year ago to a MONTHLY membership to find out when I wanted to change gyms as never attended, it was NOT a monthly BUT conned me into a YEARLY membership, So after the year of paying for nothing due to not allowing me out on the contract even though I told them there was nothing on the website saying this was a yearly membership, I cancelled the direct debit, only to get a letter saying I have to pay £40 to get out the contract Because after that year the rolled the contract out to another year without telling me!! So I had to call up and they said if I pay £11.99 I can get out of the contract so that’s what I did. So anyone who wants to join the gym make sure they tell you everything and not hind information like that did it me to make money If you look, I’m not the ONLY one who has complained about this...

Fantastic experience: Even during busy periods or busy time there’s always enough machines and equipment for everyone to use. I quite like the area only for girls ️‍♀️ also the gym is nice and clean with lots of space

Fantastic experience: I love this gym! I said I would never sign up to another one after the usual £30 a month wasted and I never went, but I moved to Essex and for £11.99 a month I felt like I had to! I've actually never visited another gym more in my life. I really enjoyed the classes and there's a wide variety, especially pump. The equipment is all very new and well looked after, I see at least 2 cleaners every time I am there. The PTs and staff are all absolutely great and I feel like I can approach anyone with questions and they'll be happy to help, without any intimidation which I've often felt in past gyms. Also the community on the app is very vocal and it's great how the PTs are always posting tips and motivational tools. Thanks for making exercise bearable Harlow X4L!

Negative experience: These people are scam!! Stay away every one They are very hungry for money. Although cancelled 6 months ago, they are still beginning for money..

Negative experience: These people are scam! I would’ ever recommend anyone! I signed up with them and had to cancel only 4 days after due injury, not ever once used the facilities however still being chased by their debt collectors for what? I am havingn to sue them for harassment tonget rid of!! These are beggers, stay away people!!

Positive experience: OK but it is womens gym and if you complain about women taking acquipmant in to the Lady's only area... You are told it is a jerrymay Kyle problem and belittled dismissed and shown disrespect... I have been going to the gym from when it opened last year but seriously considering going to another gym where I would be shown some sort of respect

Fantastic experience: It seems like the best option for the lowest price. There is no spa, no rollers, but anyway for that price it is 5 stars. It is clean there, not that crowded. About classes, attended only one at 18:00 on Wed 17th May - and Ioved it.

Positive experience: The staff are always polite and helpful, there's a good range of classes and there's a wide variety of equipment. The gym is kept clean and the women's only area is a lovely bonus and all for a reasonable price. I just wish that there were as many classes available on some days as there are on others.

Negative experience: I have to say I am so disappointed with this gym. Firstly I have previously expressed to the GM how unprofessional some of the reception staff are . There is barely acknowledgement you are there when you enter and leave the gym. A simple greeting would suffice , often you go into the weights area which looks like people have thrown the dumbbells all over the place and you either put other people’s weoghts away or climb over them hoping not to fall over. This complaint made directly to the club was brushed off yet nothing has changed ! I use this as a second gym as it’s cheap, but the service is extremely poor. What’s more I bought my fiancée the transformation camp and what’s a disaster of organisation that has proved to be. Be it inept trainers who can neither time manage , motive or stay in their position for the duration without quitting , or the lack of clarity and structure which is promised in the camp I.E pictures of body improvement, stats on weight management and measurements and to add insult to injury a GM who through complaint offers no resolution being the refund my partner requested due to the debacle that ensued throughout the eight weeks baring in mind the final session of the camp was offered at the last minute due to the previous week postponement even area management attempt to appease with the offer of another shambolic free place on the next course ! I would suggest this offering was made to boost already flagging numbers as I have no doubt this is not the first issue the club has had with being unable to deliver what it promises. If I had no other option than training here regularly my athleticism would surely suffer. Fortunately enough I only use when my other gym is closed due to my working commitments on weekend occasions

Negative experience: If you are thinking of joining be wary of how they operate. This company have acted in an extremely unethical manner in my case. I joined this gym and had a great service for a few months however, trying to leave is a nightmare. They have now sent me letters with a threat of legal action because I have disputed instead of offering an explanation for the fees.

Negative experience: I've been a member for over a year and things have gotten gradually worse. I joined because of the promised classes (especially the Les Mills ones) and these have dwindled to become nonexistent. Head office make the class timetables and don't take into account what the members want at all! There are so many complaints on the app's comments wall. There is a ridiculously high turnover of staff because they are treated so badly. All the decent external trainers have left, which is another reason why the new class timetable is terrible - they say they can't find instructors to fill the new time slots...so why did you change the time slots when the classes were always full?! Unless you want to do cycling or a paid PT session, the classes are basically limited to dancing or 'Abs' (where an instructor stands at the front staring at their watch, counting down a minute at a time - boring!). Other than that, there's about 4 classes per week. Not much variety at all! I haven't been to the gym for 2 months (I only want to do classes) where as I was going 4x a week when there were the Les Mills classes, Pilates and yoga. Apart from the classes...there are always things with 'out of order' signs on them. It's a standing joke. The turnstiles, the microphones for instructors, the vending machines, the showers, the weighing scales, the water fountains, the MyRide...they take at least 2 months to fix every time! The range of equipment is good, if that's what you're there for, but there are always complaints about people not tidying up after themselves. So many people have been asking how to quit. The main focus of head office is to get people to sign up for year contracts with lots of promises, and then not care about you after that. So many people quit after their year is up...and if you try to do it before? Well, just read the TrustPilot reviews for how that turns out!

Negative experience: Ok location however very very busy during peak hours, which demotivates me. Can't really get a routeen going as constantly being hassled to get off kit.

The staff are very friendly and on top of it all its all very good value for money and all the classes they offer are included in the price. You also get great rewards also.
