Fantastic experience: Really liked being able to get a swim/sauna ticket and with use the changing village so could share lockers and go in and out as mixed group, made it easier logistically. Also had an elderly member of group who needed to use chair hoist into pool. Staff couldn't have been any more helpful and attentive. So caring and kind.

Fantastic experience: We stopped here for a while on our journey, we both thought it was a nice place I think the leisure centre was closed but the toilets were open to the public. Which was good.

Fantastic experience: This is a great swimming place. I was staying at the Hunters Quay Dunoon and was not impressed by the size of the pool on their premises and the prices. On our day of departing we had headed to the Dunoon Riverside Leisure Centre and we were impressed so much better and it was cheaper. £9.50 for three people and there was a baby pool and a huge pool with diving boards and flumes and was miles better and infact cheaper than the Hunter's Quay pool. You also get floats which is also at Hunters Quay but only at certain times. Great responsive staff and a beautiful clear pool. Hope to be back

Negative experience: I visited here on Sunday 2nd of May 2021 with my wife and 2 year old son whilst we were on a short break across the water in Gourock at a caravan. Our visit to Riverside was not a very good experience for us. My wife had called on Monday 26th April and booked a time with the receptionist for the 3 of us to have a 1 hour swim ‘on Sunday’. The receptionist told us she had booked us in for 11.15 – 12.15 ‘on Sunday’ and my wife said thanks and see you ‘on Sunday’. This was great news for us as the swimming pool at our caravan park was fully booked and because we were still only just coming out of COVID-19 restrictions it was difficulty to get a slot for swimming so we were very happy and excited, so much so that we were willing to pay for a ferry fare for the 3 of us to come over from Gourock exclusively for a swim. We got the 10am ferry from Gourock over to Dunoon to make sure we arrived in plenty of time. We actually arrived at the Riverside centre at 10.40am so still 35 minutes before our allocated time slot. We sat at a bench across the road and had a snack for 10 minutes and then made our way upstairs to the reception of the swimming pool. The 3 of us very excited for our first swim in 6 months! We approached the reception desk and gave our details, ‘are you sure you booked it under that name’ the small aggressive looking eastern European receptionist asked. This receptionist was different to the one who took the booking. ‘Yes, that is our name’ I replied. She then stared at her screen and then stared gormlessly back at us and said ‘I can see here that you’re booked in for next Sunday’. Well…you could have knocked me clean out with a feather duster…After we explained to her about the booking being for ‘Sunday’ last Monday and how for anyone that would imply the next Sunday coming she stared at us again and said she needed to call her manager. By this stage my impatient 2 year old was screaming and jumping on radiators and my even more impatient wife was giving this wee woman the kind of look you give someone who farts in a lift. The manager appeared and confirmed the booking had been made for the wrong date- in a weeks’ time. ‘Have you come far?’ he asked. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He said he ‘might’ be able to let us in as although they were fully booked, one of the people who had booked stated that they ‘probably won’t turn up’ so we were asked to wait at the side until 11.25am (10 minutes after the session started) to make sure this most indecisive customer had in fact made the choice not to turn up but if he did, we were out on the streets and back to Gourock without so much as a belly flop! The manager and receptionist then spent a good 5 minutes starting at the computer screen hoping this would all go away, the sweat running down their backs as I stood defiantly at the other side of the covid protective screen staring at them with the most intense rage. It was now 11.05am and more and more families were coming in (and getting ready to run to the baby changing rooms). This caused a mass of people to be congregated in a small space which was very irresponsible. At about 10 past they let all the other families into the changing rooms but we weren’t allowed to move, my 2 year old was getting very restless but the 2 staff members didn’t seem to care and were sticking to their guns about us waiting until 11.25. By 11.15 my wife had had enough and turned her anger power from a 3 to a 6 out of 10. She made it clear to the manager that this was a damn disgrace and that we wanted in that pool and we wanted in now. He caved in and led us to a secret changing room and then we enjoyed our swim free of charge. We were allocated a fifth of the small children’s pool. The pool itself was very clean and the big pool looked great as well. We had a good time in the pool. The 2 members of staff were nowhere to be seen when we came out. I think an apology for the way we were treated like 2nd class citizens was the very least we deserved.

Fantastic experience: Apart from a great workout location I learned the hard way yesterday how good an instructors/back-up team is in place at the Leisure centre. Unfortunately I took a funny turn and blanked out while doing weights. Immediately the alarm bell was pushed and the team moved into overdrive. When I came to there were four or five very attentive instructors around me examining, assisting and asking all the right questions. Defillabrator was on hand, first aid kits, blood pressure unit etc..what great support. Thankfully my malady was not serious but so reassuring that such a group of professional individuals were at hand to deal with all situations. A real credit to your proffession folks! Big apology to all people who were working out having to leave before the end of their session due to procedure and to Ross for having to start his shift in such a way! Can't thank you all enough! Positive experience: The only issue I have with the pool is that it could be warmer so that I could stay in a bit longer with my 4 month old son. Amazing value for money, and the kids love going. The cafe is good value too. The web site is a bit difficult to decipher when checking if the pool is open to the public or not, so I usually call to check, especially during school holidays.

Positive experience: Pequeño pero suficiente. La cafetería le da un plus aunque es bastante caro. Los domingos tienen una promoción especial, alrededor de 1.5£ la entrada a la piscina, por ese precio merece la pena pasar la mañana del domingo en la piscina y además te dejan flotadores para jugar un poquillo.

Fantastic experience: Depending on where you go it can be difficult to find a leisure facility which provides a consistent quality of service. Riverside Leisure Centre doesn't have this problem. On the 5 times I have been for a swim I have been impressed. Firstly, the quality and clarity of the water rivals that of some of our more internationally recognizable swimming pools. Pool changing facilities whilst slightly cramped are kept, again, to a high standard. Secondly, staff are very supportive and are happy to assist where they can. Whether that's information about the local area (eateries etc..) or just trying to find your way around the leisure centre. Thirdly, what is on offer to locals and visitors seems to have been well thought out. The pool is of a reasonable size and has ample spectator space should anyone wish to hold a competitive or charity event. The gym overlooks the pool which in my view is a great way for those who do mixed sports to plan ahead, although to my surprise the pool doesn't seem all that busy. Fourthly, lastly and more importantly, there is very much a sense or a feeling of community with the centre. The centre feels like it is cared for and is taken into serious consideration by its staff. I think that what is important is for locals to know that you have something truly special that offers so much. Having visited a number of pools in central Scotland and swim on a regular basis I think it's important to know that whilst you might not spend 10s of millions building a state of the art centre you have achieved something which some could only dream of. My only gripe about the centre is that it is a little bit of a rabbit's warren but, the helpfulness of the staff more than makes up for that and if I'm honest, its quite a quirky building inside.

Positive experience: Brilliant big pool and a smaller training pool. Large gym with a great selection of weights and equipment. Spa, sauna and steam room downstairs away from the main pool area, can get busy at times. Great staff too.
