The Gym Group Huddersfield

Positive experience: This gym is straightforward and welcoming, with friendly members and a good range of free weights, squat racks, and benches. However, several key issues impact the experience. Firstly, there are no cleaning supplies provided to wipe down equipment should you wish, and there are no staff members available to ask or assist with this. Additionally, many treadmills have broken or missing buttons, and some make loud banging noises at higher speeds, which can be distracting or uncomfortable. There are also no TVs or other visual distractions near the cardio area, leaving you to stare at either a mirror or a wall. On the positive side, parking is a major plus—it's free, and there's always ample space available, so you’ll never have trouble finding a spot.

Positive experience: Decent size gym with decent equipment. Can get busy at off peak times and if a few machines are broken then hard to find space when it's busy. All round good , clean friendly gym. Cheapest in huddersfield.

Positive experience: Go in do what I need to do, its a gym does what is says on the ti… but machine maintenance/replacement could be better.

Positive experience: I like it...just need bit more cleaning during day... during pick hours busy... car park often full of cars shoopers and people working around ... all together not bad for price what ask for membership...could be much better I think.

Positive experience: Good choice of equipment. Atmosphere is busy even off peak. Ill mannered attendees probably the worse the gym group franchises I’ve been to. Feels stuffy and barely any breathing space. Wouldn’t come again.

Negative experience: Went here last Friday for a workout at 1am. I normally go to the leisure centre, but it was closed. I turned up, and purchased a day pass on the computer screen. Wanted a quick workout, but found that I had to wait 23 minutes for my code to actually work. In those 23 minutes, while I was waiting outside, 2 (what I can only assume were) teenagers left the gym, went to their near identical Volkswagen Polo’s, and started doing donuts in the car park. This gives an indication to the type of people who go to this gym. Once I was in the gym, I noticed that the place is one large room. The lockers are at the side and require a padlock - which is fine (I haven’t marked down for this), but I prefer putting £1 in and getting a key. They get marked up for having a wide selection of equipment. There was nothing I couldn’t find. Many of the gym members gave me funny looks. Felt very uncomfortable in there (I am male, I would have felt worse had I been female). Perhaps I am reading too much into it. Really dislike that there are no staff members. The gym is only narrowly cheaper than average, but has no staff to help with queries, especially during the 23 minutes where I had no idea what was happening. Additionally, I messaged the gym on Instagram and never received a response, 5 days later. I tried twitter first, but it states that Instagram is their main messaging option.

RAY & EVETTE are absolutely AMAZING! They are like your gym family! The gym has great facilities, clean, well kept maintained. Friendly atmosphere. Everyone is happy to help. Once you get started you see your regular faces whice are a great motivation. It's lovely to be part of a gym family and community..

I have found the staff approachable, knowledgeable and very professional, Patrick .Alex,Nathan,Ray and Yvette are a credit the organisation. I have started using Nathan as my personal trainer and the self proclaimed of pt is in fact much on point! The staff are always keeping the gym clean and upto scratch. The classes are fun and demanding and I would recommend anyone to use the gym.

Negative experience: Yvette - brilliant member of staff. Always smiling and happy to help. Overcrowded Overall Poor equipment Could do with a good few smith machines / stations. Another two lat pull down machines & cables. A couple of new attachments would be decent. Gym do not replace stuff or bother repairing machines for weeks on end Too many classes which take up most of the space. Sometimes there’s 5 people in a class and theyv taken up a fair amount of space. Gym is closed every now and then for a ‘refresh’ come back to no change / no new equipment - a total waste of time. Do not join the gym

Negative experience: They have took cleaning stations out the gym an I find loads of sweaty head marks an body prints of wet. An nothing in the gym to clean them.an when say something to staff they are afraid to say something to the culprit.its just descusting to take them out.as never see no staff spraying the benches all they say is bring a towel.that is not going to help swet marks on the benches.i have photo to show how nasty people leave it.an willing to show how dirty the gym is getting

Negative experience: The gym is not staffed 24/7 in the morning so it can be annoying when you have issues and no one is there to help. I tried going to the gym with my husband on a Sunday morning (after 9am when staff are supposed to be around) I had trouble getting in and ended up waisting 3 of my husband's monthly invites and I still couldn't get in. I wanted to try out the gym before I bought a membership but I'm considering signing up with another gym because the lack of staff was so frustrating. The previous time I went to the gym it was unstaffed as well.

Negative experience: This gym has staff members that you can barely ever get a hold of. Individuals were recorded without their permission by other members told them to stop recording, was obviously extremely stressed by the situation. The next day the gym membership had been banned for going against the policy. Apparently telling someone to stop recording you goes against the gym policy and you will get banned! Baring in mind the recording individuals have already been reported on multiple occasions before and nothing was done. Awful overall experience in terms of safety for women.

Negative experience: Hi You need to teach staff in this facility to be professional and polite! I have been coming here more than a year now and never came across this before! You use a gym area for classes and in the past there was always a sign to warn people in advance not to enter at a particular time slot. There was nothing there so I went in ran around on a busy Monday evening to set up my weights and then someone comes to tell me to clear out in five minutes! That's absurd - I tried to explain that I can utilise a small space for 10 minutes which has also happened in the past as you don't use every inch but he was persistent I need to clear out and had the audacity to ask me take out my weights! All that is just inconsiderate and rude - you need to be more professional and accommodating to people especially on a Monday evening. Put up a sign in advance to provide adequate notice and if you don't be considerate.

Fantastic experience: Tried every gym around Huddersfield over the past 2.5 years but keep coming back to this gym as it has 24/7 access which is great when your a student with no sleep schedule. As well, for the price, it is the best in Huddersfield.

Negative experience: Loved the gym when one certain moody female staff was away. Asher is a top lad very welcoming and sweet. He should be the only manager around. Gym is good and spotless but moody staff bring it down very much.

Positive experience: Overall fairly good gym. Only issue I’ve had is, a couple of times when they do close for maintenance or holiday periods they don’t update their opening hours or inform you via email or the app. Let people just turn up to a locked door not knowing it’s temporarily closed.

Positive experience: Good gym lots of treadmills have to scan x2 to get through doors, but music isn't great

Negative experience: THE WORST SMELLING URINALS I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS. Like it’s actually hard to believe you have consistently allowed them to be that bad and I’ve not said anything for months, in order to give benefit of the doubt. But you haven’t remotely dealt with it. At least just buy some citrus rubber mats or something. Really annoyed I’m having to even write this man.

Negative experience: Good gym and cheap in price. But need to clean the toilet palace. And specialy need to change the lockers palace no good

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Always clean and tidy. Fantastic classes that really push you to your limit to get you to your goals. The trainers are really friendly (Nathan and Asher) and they always make sure you're doing the exercises with the right posture and right weights. Great environment altogether.

Negative experience: Gym has ample parking when not busy, but good luck when it is. The gym is well equipped but again when it's busy good luck getting on any of the equipment. I would strongly suggest if you are a "peak time" gym goer to try a smaller independent gym in the area as during peak times it's hard to work out. Along with that people have zero gym etiquette during peak times. Honestly this is a gym of last resort.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member at this gym for over a year now, and I’ve never been happier! I’ve finally found a gym with an adequate amount of equipment; I’ve never had trouble getting on any equipment even at peak times. It’s always kept clean and tidy, the staff are always incredibly friendly and willing to help, which has helped massively with my anxiety towards the gym. They have a good range of classes for all levels of fitness, and the opening hours are perfect, I never have to worry about missing a day due to late nights at work!

Fantastic experience: I’m a member at the gym, I started PT sessions with Ray Dean a month ago & it’s amazing. I never have to wait too long for equipment at peak times, Ray has pushed me to do my absolute best & results are showing, for once in my life I look forward to coming to the gym.

Fantastic experience: Superb gym, miraculously clean and well kept. Exceptional equipment and facilities for all people. The management annd staff are extremely friendly, attentive and always on hand for any help. Ash runs my favourite classes, makes sure to push everyone but be cautious of people’s needs if they have any underlying injury’s too. I spoke to Nathan for a program tailored to suit my needs and within the day he came and spoke to me, then presented me with a bespoke program which I’m so thankful for! Then there’s Pat the man that never stops, clearly always thinking about what can be done next to improve this ever growing community. An all round great environment and for many our home away from home.

Fantastic experience: I have only visited this gym once and it was great. The GM Patrick gave me a tour of the gym, showed me some new exercised and took the time to check in with me before I left. This gym has a wide variety of equipment, friendly staff and very well presented, would 100% visit again.

Positive experience: Decent gym with good facilities. But lacks sauna, pool and jacuzzi. It is so much flexible as it is 24 hr gym. Parking seems to be adequate.

Negative experience: Updated 5 months later from my previous 5 star review: Decent gym at a very good price. Staff are friendly. Unfortunately, it is very popular and the site is very undersized for the number of people who use it. Tried a few times in the past months to get a workout, but there were no free weight benches and maybe 2 machines free. The place was absolutely packed each time. It's a real shame as I've been a member here since October and really liked it. It's just too small. I must also mention the app says that 99 people in the gym is 50% capacity, which is ludicrous. The place would be the most popular club in Huddersfield if it sold beer and cocktails.
