Positive experience: Nice setup and a nice size gym with plenty of equipment and space. Helpful staff and good facilities all in a good location near everything whilst working in Cardiff

Fantastic experience: Please make a separate room with exercise machine for Muslim women

Negative experience: "Zumba" classes are a joke. They don't even know how to do Zumba, they play latino music without even learning how to dance to it. If you're gonna do Zumba you should at least learn it, don't squat around with it and jump as if it's not an entire continent's culture. If you wouldn't do this to Indian, African, Chinese, German, or Japanese music why do you think it's okay with Latino music? At least hire latino instructors, there's so many in Cardiff. Why hire the people who couldn't dance to Celia Cruz even if their life depended on it? SHAME.

Fantastic experience: Was all as expected.

Positive experience: No problems with the gym itself but the yoga classes should finish their sessions on time! In the gym's app it states yoga classes is from 7pm-8pm but every single time the classes is not finished until nearly 8.30pm! If you want to use the sandbags for boxing or for training then you have to wait around.

Fantastic experience: Moved here from JD Gyms and was the best decision. All the machines are better, well maintained, and parts replaced when they become worn. The treadmills are not slippery (as in the belt doesn’t move in the opposite direction when you use it) the staff are friendly and will Ask if you need help. The gym is very clean and you will see janitors cleaning whilst you are training, which is a positive sign. They also give you 2 hours free parking in case you need it (YOU SHOULD BE WALKING TO THE GYM TO GET YOUR CARDIO IN ANYWAY!!) they also recently closed the gym to replace the flooring ( they gave access to the next nearest gym during the closure) I think they could improve by making the WiFi more stable as it sometimes doesn’t work well.

Negative experience: Needs another smith machine and some more benches in the free weight area. It's always almost impossible to get on either. And while not a comment piece of equipment a lateral raises machine would be nice to have.

Fantastic experience: Good value if you buy 6 months or a year upfront , otherwise pricey.

Fantastic experience: They took away tissue papers. Now I have to add more items to my laundry :c Edit: Jokes aside, this is my go-to gym. Even though it's not a building of its own, it's pretty spacious. I've never felt cold as I see in some reviews (even during the winter). I especially love that there's an off-peak membership option which is a great money-saver for students (yes I'm broke and it's helping me save up). And as the response says, the gym is really clean. I always see someone cleaning areas and equipment whenever I'm there. I always clean up the cushions of equipment I use, but not everyone does that.

Negative experience: I would give this place no stars if I could, I signed up and paid for my gym membership and was given my PIN number. I was then told the code would activate by the Saturday which is the day I’m writing my review. The code doesn’t work there were no staff on site and when I called then number the office is closed. I will be demanding a refund for this absolutely ridiculous and poor practice. Paying for a gym I can’t even get in to and no one to solve the issue.

Positive experience: The gym is good and the staff are polite. At Day time the gym is busy I think if you want to enjoy a workout then you should go at night

They have something for everyone and all of the trainers are so well informed and enthusiastic throughout! Special shout-out to Kristian for making me actually want to spend my Friday nights at bootcamp!

Fantastic experience: Started going to this gym a few months ago and I love it. I can't recommend the trainers I've interacted with enough - Wayne, Matt and Nadya are all really friendly and helpful. I was a beginner and immensely anxious when I first started, but I usually feel at ease in this gym. I attend the Zumba class, FlexiStretch class and Dance Fitness class and they're all brilliant. It can be competitive booking on, particularly for the dance classes, but it shows how popular they are and how much everyone enjoys them. Only issues I can think of at a push is it would be nice to have some more areas with spray and paper towels around the gym. It would also be nice to have an accessible private unisex changing space, but I appreciate this will be down to a lack of free space generally. Really recommend this gym to anybody who is anxious about starting out or who wants a good range of equipment and classes.

Fantastic experience: Been a member of the gym since 2019. Only started doing gym classes for under a year but they have been so brilliant. I never thought I would enjoy doing gym classes but the gym members have been so supportive and encouraging and have built a great gym community that I’m proud to be part of. A special mention to Wayne I’anson for his dedication to his job and his classes which sees members coming back every week as well as new members all the time. He is very friendly, inclusive and motivating in classes and goes above and beyond in his role! Matt and Kristian have been a great addition to the gym team and I enjoy going to classes they lead too! Both are very friendly and committed! Phil and Andy have been great in their managing roles too and are always on hand for help or even a friendly chat. Keep up the good work The Gym Group Cardiff City Centre!!

Fantastic experience: Darren rocks! I mean, where else can you watch someone shoulder press 140kg like it’s NBD? The place is full of serious lifters and newbies alike. The vibe is chill yet pumped, with equipment for every level. Darren, the boss, is a legend. He’s not just about business; he’s all about helping you crush your goals. And yeah, his recent feat of 140kg shoulder press? Impressive. Keeps me entertain throughout my workouts and always chatting and creating a postive atmosphere with his clients and gym goes.

Fantastic experience: I can't recommend this gym enough. The atmosphere is welcoming and supportive, with plenty of options for all fitness levels. But what truly sets this gym apart is the staff! Everyone's friendly and helpful, always happy to answer questions and offer advice. A special shout-out has to go to Phillip, one of the managers. He's been an absolute star! Whether I have a question about using a machine or need a bit of motivation, Phill is always there with a smile and a helping hand. He's incredibly knowledgeable and makes sure everyone feels comfortable and supported. Going through a stage of life where your fitness needs change can be daunting, but Phill has been amazing. He possesses a great knowledge for women going through menopause. This was incredibly helpful for me, as he was able to tailor workouts and answer questions specific to my needs. Phill's commitment to understanding women's needs at all stages of life, which showed a real commitment to creating a safe and inclusive space for women of all ages, truly impressed me. Thanks to Phill and the rest of the staff, I actually look forward to my gym sessions now. It's a great place to work out, feel good about yourself, and find support for the changes your body is going through. But what makes this gym outstanding is the staff. Never been a member of a commercial gym before where the staff take such an interest and know their stuff. Makes you keep coming back for more!

Fantastic experience: Great location and good atmosphere! The PT's are always trying to keep the place in positive energy! The equipment is varied so can always hit the muscle groups I need to without much wait! Cleaners are also friendly, and courteous to people training.

Negative experience: gym is fine but told the car park closes at 23:55pm despite the gym being 24/7 and would be locked in till 6am if not left by then. nowhere else near to park and super dangerous to walk at night - surely should be sorted before something happens?

Negative experience: Would your cocky manager kindly educate me, on which part of the membership agreement, does it say that which specific wear is prohibited in the gym? Lmao

Positive experience: This gyms not terrible. It is pretty standard. Everything you need. Is busy but not crowded. Generally people mind their business. Minimal gym creeps. Helpful staff. (Smells like a busy gym if you catch my drift.)

Negative experience: Just sub-par. You get what you pay for, and in this case that’s not much. The kind of poor equipment you’d expect in someone’s first home gym. It’ll do if you’re new and looking to try it out - the equipment works as advertised - but for intermediate and onwards, please find anywhere else. Pay a little more per month and get equipment that will work for you. Benches are too sloppy to actually drive into for correct form; pull-up bar starts bending from as little as 60kg on it, so more than that and you’ll notice a serious dip in it. Some machines are too firm and do more harm than good. Just a shame. TL;DR: it’ll do, but if you have the choice, find somewhere else.

Negative experience: A rude, ignorant coach: 1.asked us to leave even we had the invitation code 2.Refused to listen to our explaination about the invitation code 3.Declared himself as the manager and kept saying we "disrespect him" even we tried to explain the situation Not gonna visit again

Negative experience: Actually i even didn’t want to rate one star, i want to rate zero, the personal trainer in the gym is so rude, me and friend were both invited to the gym, the people who invited us sent the two invite information on the same phone, so we used one phone to insert the pins to get in, but a personal trainer shouted to my friend and asked him to 'get out' and we didn’t know what’s going on, even though we explained that we were invited we showed him the pins and emails, but he didn't listen to us, we understand that he maybe thought we use other people's pin, but he should check the inviting pins first rather than just asking my friend 'get out', even if he had a lesson to others trainers he could asked another staff to check and confirm the situation, but he just left and ask us to wait didn’t listen to us, this is just so tiny thing, and it’s easy to understand, but he just sticks on to himself, didn’t show any apologies and respect, we feel so uncomfortable and disrespectful! oh this personal trainer declared that he is the manager, i think he doesn’t deserve that! We won’t go to this gym ever, and won’t recommend it to others!

Negative experience: I am really disappointed with a Magagment at The gym group city centre cardiff especially Adrew Philips the manager,he really shouldnt be in charge of this position because he never cares about customer needs! So many times I have aproached him with some issue which was bodering me and made my time there really uncomfortable but he never resolved none,just keping ignoring me! Very unprofessional behaviour. Bdw the gym is so cold air cone always on full making me really ill regularly!!
