Fantastic experience: I've been using onegym bishop Auckland for two months now and I love it. You don't have to wait to use equipment even at peak times as there is so many pieces of equipment. The staff are polite and the place is absolutely spotless. No judgment, good atmosphere and I would recommend 100%

Positive experience: Good gym with great equipment, but with inadequate IT infrastructure. The app is next to useless lacking features from competitors such as being able to view how many people are in the gym. The points feature is completely useless and screams it is a half baked rushed implantation. Don’t get me started on the glaring security issues they have storing user passwords in plain text. The app overall seems very cheap and amateur which is unfortunate as it doesn’t reflect the quality of the gym overall but ultimately has a negative impact of customer experience. As well as enacting a nonsensical 12 hour lock on the code after signing into a gym, although you can ask a member of staff to allow you re-entry this means if you workout at 4pm and want to come back past 8 again you would be unable to….I understand this is to prevent abuse however a similar 2 hour limit for example would serve this purpose and be much less annoying.
Hi Joel, Thanks for you feedback. The app is not useless, we have thousands of members across multiple sites who don't seem to have any problems. Being able to view how many people are in the gym could be very misleading, there could be a class with 40 people, a spinning class with 20 people, that doesn't mean the gym floor is busy. Avoid peak times if you are concerned about this. We would be doing something wrong if we weren't busy at peak times. The FitSense app is also used by many fitness facilities throughout the world, in fact, it is used by the largest operator in the world. For your information, our IT infrastructure doesn't just represent an app! We have 24 hour turnstiles, linked membership systems, monitored CCTV, 24 hour call points etc, all for member convenience and safety. As you say, the 12 hour time limit is to deter fraudulent entry, so it's not 'nonsensical'. However, if this doesn't work for you, rather than vent on google, all you need to do is ask the staff and they will assist you with this. Also, if you know you're visiting at 4pm and 8pm, then simply ask a member of the team to let you in on your first visit, and then use your QR code on your second visit. Regards, OneGym
Positive experience: Good gym, well equipped. Can be very busy but that’s to be expected and it’s big you don’t notice as much. I’d definitely recommend getting an introduction if you’re a newbie as their machines are quite complex but good once you learn how to use everything. One thing that lets it down massively in my opinion the awful flawed member app, I felt like working out twice today and I can only come back 12 hours after ? :-( Now I can’t go back to do a workout… I understand this system is in place to deter people passing it to friends or something but 12 hours? Ridiculous :-(
Hi Kelly, Upon joining, all members are offered an induction/free PT, and workout plan. This is mentioned in the Welcome email you will have received. The gym equipment is state of the art from the most renowned manufacturers. As you say, the 12 hour time limit is to deter fraudulent entry, so it's not 'ridiculous'. However, if this doesn't work for you, rather than vent on google, all you need to do is ask the staff and they will assist you with this. Are your reasons really worth a 3-star review? Fantastic experience: Trained here since the gym opened, parking good, gym equipment very good, staff very helpful,has I am always leaving strap/ wraps, training tops, etc, but and staff will always look for them, also made quite a few friends, pay a visit

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym! The Bishop Auckland gym is my main gym, but I have trained at all the OneGym sites when at work on my lunch breaks, they are all clean, well equipped with awesome staff and facilities. I would definitely recommend OneGym to anyone of any ability no matter where they are on their fitness journey.

Fantastic experience: I love visiting OneGym in Bishop Auckland. I only really use the treadmill because i love to run, but a recurring hanstring problem means the treadmill is more forgiving than running on a hard, outdoor surface. The staff are super-friendly and the place is always spotless. I use the showers everytime, and they are also always clean and tidy. There is always a relaxed atmosphere in the gym too, with good music and, mostly, polite and curteous fellow gym-users. Even though my use of the extended gym equipment is very limited, I've only heard positive feedback from other people. This is my happy-place. Keep it up guys!

You failed to mention that you’ve been told on numerous occasions to put your weights away and to stop leaving weights on machines. It's just lazy and discourteous to other members. You also became very aggressive to OneGym staff, totally unacceptable! You were asked to leave and now rate us 1 star - what more did we expect?! Enjoy your fitness journey… we’re sure the other gyms in the area are thrilled to have someone like you. Good riddance!
Fantastic experience: Excellent refurbishment + extensions to the gym. On Monday, I walked into a brand new gym with an extended area that focuses on leg workouts, new machinery upstairs for HIT cardiovascular + caveman training equipment (upstairs redone and brilliant studio area). On my first day in the newly renovated and extended gym, I felt lost.... Because I didn't know if I was in the same gym as I was in the week before, it's the best upgrade I've seen to a gym and it's puts it pretty much the top gym in Durham. New boxercise equipment in the studio, bikes for spinning. If you went before the renovation and extensions a week ago, you definitely need to sign up this week. I'm on my third session in the gym that was done up over the weekend and it's definitely worth the money now ! (: It looks twice as big!

Negative experience: A disgrace I have multiple disabilities which can flare up in moments. One of which did and I was coming up to a monthly payment. I sent an email saying that I'd like to cancel the membership for the following month as I have a disability preventing me from using the gym. I was told the money would still be taken and if I cancel the payment they would send debt collectors round. I am disabled for Christ's sake...what is wrong with you guys! I would have rejoined 2/3 weeks later when my disability calmed down, instead I have been threatened.
This is not the case at all. When you enter an agreement, it clearly states AND you agree to give a minimum of 30 days' notice if you wish to terminate that agreement - this is very common in most contracts. If we can do it with less notice, then we will, but it's usually only a matter of days. The Terms & Conditions have nothing to do with whether someone is disabled or not. It is the same for everyone. Positive experience: It's a canny gym but gets way to full for my likeing can't realy get on the machines you whant to use to many just members sit on them on ther phones but should hopefully change when it' opens up bigger can't wait so i can actually get some good sessions in
So you are aware that we’ve taken on massive expense to extend the gym, pack it full with the latest state of the art kit, to improve our offering to members without increasing membership cost, yet you still give a 3-star review?!! Perhaps you should slightly change the times you attend the gym. Any decent gym is going to be busy at peak times, if it’s not, then there’s something wrong. Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym. The staff are some of the friendliest I’ve ever seen, and are often available to help. The music in the gym is fine, but can be a little repetitive, and sometimes consist of ‘pound shop’ style remixes. The ‘let’s get down to business’ song is played a bit too often. The busiest times are between 4:30-6pm in my experience, but still isn’t much of a problem. It’s often quiet enough to hear yourself, and equipment is always available outside of these times I find. This place is incredibly clean and looked after. I love the aircon in the summer, and it’s looks great inside. The demographic seems fine, with only one cringeworthy gym poser every so often. The toilets and changing rooms are literally spotless and smell great - I have never been to a gym so clean! The only downsides I can think of are the under-sensitivity of the hand blow dryer. - It’s pathetically tedious to use… and there is no recycling bin despite how many plastic bottles are used. Fantastic Friendly Staff!!

Negative experience: Beware their 12 month contract is not a 12 month contract. It is a 12 payment contract so if covid strikes and you want to cancel after 12 months they wont let you as they want their 12 payments!

Negative experience: Be warned! They advertise ‘no contract’ and easy cancellation but charge you another month if you don’t cancel within 10 days of the direct debit being due. Also, they charge £15 administration fee if you cancel the direct debit, despite not being in a contract with them. Disappointing.
Hi Liane, Yes, we do offer both a 12 month option and month-to-month option. There's nothing unusual about a 10 day cancellation period for DDs. If you cancel your DD without informing us beforehand and then there is a £15 administration fee, again standard procedure for DDs. All of the above is within the Terms & Conditions that a person must agree to online, before they can join the gym, stating that they have read and understood the T&Cs. The OneGym Team.

Another gripe I have is people constantly checking their phones while using equipment, I understand that you have to rest in between sets but many just take the mickey.

Any machines in need of repair are done so as soon as possible, sometimes we have to wait for parts from the States but all repairs are dealt with as a matter of urgency.
