Fantastic experience: Good gym and excellent staff
Fantastic experience: Great gym at a reasonable price. I've attended a few classes and enjoyed them so far.
Positive experience: This is a very good gym in terms of equipment and facilities. I do however have a couple of issues. Air conditioning is rarely on when I am able to visit (Fri/Sat/Sun evenings), even in summer and as far as I'm aware there is just one rope accessory across all of the cable equipment. That said, I work away most weeks and have been to quite a few of the other Gym Group sites. I'm yet to find one better than Hartlepool.

Negative experience: Don't try to find out what times it is open off peak. Their website is full of mistakes and they don't allow you to phone them so you can't actually find out what times are off peak!

Fantastic experience: Apart from broken things takes ages to get fixed, a bit dirty every time and a trained staff to say “hi” but they don’t it is like a gym!
Fantastic experience: This is the first gym I’ve ever been to and I was apprehensive as an exercise naysayer, but the atmosphere is friendly and there’s a ladies-only room with a good range of equipment. I’ve been to several of the classes, and particular highlights are Dance Fit and Pilates which you can do consecutively with the same wonderful instructor.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to The Gym Group Hartlepool for over a year now. The body combat classes are brilliant. Andrea is an amazing teacher and the classes are fun as well as being hard work but I love it. I also do pilates with Andrea & bodypump with Helen. I would definitely recommend these classes to anyone! The gym itself is well equipped and clean & tidy.

Fantastic experience: I joined The Gym Group, Hartlepool, 3 months ago and I love the place. The gym is open and inviting as it is clean and spacious, with a great selection of equipment to choose from, with a free weights area and a smaller ladies’ gym with a good selection of equipment in there too. The gym has a good variety of classes and the instructors are great. I was about to mention favourite classes /instructors but actually, I love all of them so it would be tough/unfair to pick a favourite. Overall, great experience at an affordable monthly cost, totally worth it.Bonus - plenty of parking spaces available on site (ignore the old signs that prohibit gym customers as that no longer applies so it is okay for gym customers to park).

Negative experience: Been a member for a couple years. The changing rooms were refurbished this year, permanently closing the steam room and sauna room. New equipment in the gym has been installed. It is let down badly by very poor facilities management. From boiler failures with no hot water to shower with. To the current failure of the air conditioning in the mens changing room. For well over a week the changing room temperature is in the low single figures. Its like changing in a freezer room. Lots of local members complaints ignored with the management claiming they can't change the temperature or turn it off! - if you can't fix it, just take the fuse out. The new JD gym is looking like a good alternative. Free parking, same membership fee.

Positive experience: The gym itself is great - good equipment, new entry doors, 24 hours and a good app. But the recent changing rooms "refurb"? Awful. They looked nice before but now lack any colour depth and are very plain and bright. Almost reminiscent of secondary school changing rooms. Unsure why this drastic change was made?

Negative experience: Been a member for a while now and I work awkward shifts so 24/7 suits me fine, but the last 3 nights I've had to wait till someone left to get in as the code outside still won't let me in I've got to wait till someone leaves to get in. It's a massive issue for me because I can't afford to wait 20 mins or so till someone comes out it's eating into my sleep time, even longer if nobody is in if I arrive 2am, I've been there and 4 or 5 people are waiting for someone to leave to get in it's ridiculous. Not just this I don't exactly live around the corner a travel a little to get here so imagine the frustration. I hear there is a JD gym opening soon so I'm very likely to switch due to this issue alone.

Positive experience: Decent gym, good value, open 24x7 . Only downside is they are very slow in getting machines repaired. There is at least 4 that have been out of action since I started going (over 6 months ago).

Positive experience: A variety of work out areas. Good parking. Could do with some replacement/additional attachments (ankle straps/ropes/bars for cable weights). I would prefer the individual changing cubicles to be facing/closer to the showers for a bit more privacy, instead of having to walk across an entire room full of people and back to shower.

Positive experience: Disappointed to see hardly anyone where cleaning equipment down after using it. Tanoy reminders advising customers to wear masks while walking around the gym the amount of people walking around the gym doing what they want working out in pairs. Only one member of staff was seen so these people went unchallenged. Very disappointing.

Positive experience: Good gym at good price. Well mentained. The changing rooms are open (sex devided) however there are still 2 cubicals for the shy to change. The lockers don't require tokens or money, but you will need your own padlock. There is shower,steam,and sauna. There are also many machines, benches and workout Aria's so you won't often be waiting on equipment. As for the atmosphere, everyone seems to keep to themselves, I hardly have had any interaction in there. The reason for 4 stars is because of lack of pool to cool off in and the music is often too loud to enjoy my own personal music. I also like a chatty atmosphere.
