Fantastic experience: We had a great tour with Georgie. She answered our many questions and even helped keep our toddler entertained! We are excited to be members and look forward to enjoying all the facilities at Southampton.

Fantastic experience: I came to David Lloyd to see the physiotherapist, who was very effective. Also, the front desk staff were very helpful getting me through the car park exit barrier. Whereas the gym services are behind the paid entrance barrier, there is somewhere to buy coffee etc and somewhere to use the toilets that is accessible to all visitors.

Fantastic experience: Had a tour and walk round with Georgie, she was amazing. Really friendly and knowledgeable and answered all mine and my partners questions. Thanks Matt for your help also in setting up the tour.

The new space features a stunning gym, a luxurious pool and spa, and a restaurant that serves delicious food to refuel and relax after a workout. With the membership, I also received three seasons with a personal trainer, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. Maephie, my trainer, is truly outstanding. Her deep knowledge of fitness and personalized approach made each session incredibly productive and enjoyable. Positive experience: Gym is 4.5 stars, swimming area is lacking a fully working shower and has a very strong bleach smell everywhere , the sauna is very cramped and not hot, so 1- 2 stars

Fantastic experience: Came in a day pass, was lovely. Eventhough it was raining i went in the outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Indoor jacuzzi is one of the best ive seen so far, gym was spacious and plenty to choose from. I just wish it wasn't so expensive

Positive experience: Hi , big gym ample of parking not really suitable for people that have a disability the lifts are out of order so a lil difficult for anyone that’s disabled amazing gym equipment great enough to do a great workout no disabled changing rooms needs a re think I believe. Positive experience: Good selection of food at the restaurant. Receptionist are friendly and helpful especially Gerry . She always joyful and greeting me on arrival. Very nice atmosphere at the tennis session with Alex who always makes effort for matching abilities and we enjoy ourselves.

Positive experience: The facilities here are amazing, lovely staff and so much to do for yourself and the family. Especially when you have little ones, the Crèche and child minders at the crèche are fantastic! (the soft play area is a great touch!) my only suggestion/ possible request would be to put a small picket fence type thing upon entry to the soft play area so that older children and adults can enter/ leave the area whenever but the toddlers can’t just leave and run about the cafe area. Reason being so that parents can relax and know their toddler is secure and having fun (while still being able to see them) and also for safety (my toddler seems to love escaping the soft play area and running around the cafe) but could be an accident waiting to happen with hot food and drinks.

Fantastic experience: As soon as we arrived we were greeted with a smile and a friendly hello by reception, even though it was a very busy time during the day, they made us feel very welcome. We then had a tour with the lovely Georgie, she was very thorough and answered all our questions on the way round, she explained all of the classes and made me feel very comfortable, I haven't been to a gym in over 10 years but she made me feel excited about starting again. Thank you so much for your help Georgie, we are looking forward to our first class, swim and gym session next week! Update 18/11/24 - Really enjoying using the facilities so far, the changing room and pool areas are always kept clean, I have done a few different classes such as Blaze, Pilates and Spirit and enjoyed them. The e-gym is great, I can use equipment that I wouldn't normally, and being able to track it on my phone is good. The only thing that is a slight let down is that I tried to book some 1-2-1 swimming lessons but after the initial contact I never heard back with availability, so I have now booked lessons at another club.

Fantastic experience: We've just signed up with Georgie, she was great. Friendly, welcoming and more than happy to answer questions, even the slightly odd ones. Nothing was too much and it felt like she genuinely wanted to help us. We look forward to using the club.

Was very informative and you can tell he really loves working at this place. When discussing the membership options, he offered me a latte from the cafe which was a lovely touch. He was happy to go through the membership options, answer any questions I had and just an all round great guy. Happy to say I have signed up and can't wait to get started. Fantastic experience: I stopped by DL, with my partner, to view the facilities as I wanted to find somewhere locally to swim. We didn’t make an appointment as we weren’t too bothered if we got to look around as there were other pools locally I could join and would suffice. We were greeted warmly before being introduced to Georgie who gave us a comprehensive tour. We were beyond impressed with the entire facility and both my husband and I joined as members! Georgie’s knowledge and professionalism was impressive and our interaction with her was a key element in making the decision to join; she made each area relatable to us, took the time to understand our specific individual requirements/motivations and identified what would be most effective for us. She was warm, engaging and really lovely. Thanks Georgie! We’ve been for a few sessions and have been so impressed at each visit. Gerry on reception welcomed us so warmly and made us feel really valued the first time we arrived. She pointed out a couple of particularly useful areas on the app and gave us some helpful tips around timings etc. She left us laughing and walking off feeling really good. You’re a star, Gerry! We’ve only been a couple of times but the ‘Club’ feels like a destination and a very positive place to be and we already know we love it and that’s mostly due to the fantastic team!

Fantastic experience: We joined David Lloyd Southampton a little over a week ago and have enjoyed many classes and the gym. We met Georgie on our first visit who kindly showed us around the club. Georgie answered all questions we had and was very knowledgeable and passionate about the Club. We were helped on Reception by Gerry to set up the App on our mobile phones. Gerry went above and beyond to help us and like Georgie, Gerry is very knowledgeable and passionate about the club. We have since seen Georgie and Gerry whilst visiting the Club and it is lovely they both recognised us and took the time for a quick chat. These two members of staff are a credit to the Club as too are all the other staff that have made us feel welcome.

Fantastic experience: Kids Club at David Lloyd in Southampton is amazing. My son adores all of the kids team, they are so kind and personable, getting to know the kids likes and dislikes individually to make their experience at the club just as important as the adults. The fitness classes being programmes to run at the same time as kids classes makes a huge difference to me being able to work out, and the fact my son adores his club is such a bonus!

Negative experience: PART 2 OF 4 Going to front desk after being locked out of our hired lockers, at the time had duty manager and one receptionist. Mentioned issue. Receptionist looked on system and checked yellow binder in front of us. Kept asking which lockers are the ones we’re using. BEARING IN MIND she has the yellow binder (photo attached) in front of her. She can read it. She can SEE it says “217 and 219”. And yet proceeds to interrogate us about what lockers we hired first, what we changed it to, ALL THE WHILE she 1) has the info in front of her and 2) constantly saying “I wouldn’t have done this”, “This wasn’t me”. No accountability, no apology, just deflection and throwing colleagues under the bus. Very upsetting as THIS IS THE SAME RECEPTIONIST that stopped our Dad with his guest pass. Context on past inconvenience; we’ve given our dad guest passes in the past. Multiple times he has come in to the gym alone, reception welcomed him and he went about his business, using the gym. There were times, even, his guest pass invite link didn’t work, so he would go to reception with his phone, and someone would help him with the link and let him in. CLEAR acknowledgement that he is a guest and he has come in alone. No issues, no mention of problems. Suddenly one day (in the past month), the receptionist mentioned above tells him he cannot come in without the member who gave him the pass. Dad mentioned he had come in many times alone with guest pass, reception was aware and let him in no problem. Receptionist still said no, as if expecting my dad to go home after taking all that time to get ready and travel to the gym. Dad calls me (I’m working at that time) explains the situation. Passes phone to receptionist who is very curt and says “No, can’t come in without member holder”. Furious and not wanting to add to the inconvenience David Lloyds had given to my dad, I have to leave work and rush to the gym. Huge inconvenience for me now, too. Finally meet the receptionist in question. She apologises profusely to our faces, my dad is very kind and says “I understand you have to enforce rules, sad to see there’s no cohesion in your understanding as a team”. Receptionist AGREES with my dad and of her own volition says “You’re right, you’re being so kind about this, I’m so sorry for the understandable confusion” and uses the phrase “as a team we should all be singing from one hymn sheet”. Fast forward to now she is quick to let everyone know she can’t have possibly made this mistake with our lockers, no apology, no acknowledgement of the embarrassing accusatory notes, and being very curt with us again. End of context of past inconvenience. Back to now. Neither the duty manager or receptionist acknowledge the embarrassment for us of putting up notes on our lockers saying we don’t pay for our lockers (white notes that other ladies in the rooms can clearly see, our lockers are in a central part of the changing rooms which can be clearly seen from multiple angles). No apology or acknowledgement for the public accusation. No apology or acknowledgement for our destroyed locks. Just “oh well it was a mistake we fixed it now, bye”.
