PureGym Plymouth Marsh Mills

Positive experience: My favourite gym to work out in. Always disappointed the ammount of dust that has been building up for years around the front entrance massively noticeable as your in the treadmills facing the front doors. To many kids under the age of 16 not working on there phones. Surely ID should be checked when signing up.

Positive experience: PureGym's are pretty decent all around and this one is usually less busy than the Alexandra road gym, though I must say it is not as well equpped. Especially in terms of machine variety.

Positive experience: Only reason it dissent her 5s is because of it being two floors. Great kit large space 24 hours and plenty of parking.

Positive experience: Good gym, just a pity the air con isn't in use when classes such as spin is on. Cut backs!!!!

Negative experience: To Small and way too many people and not enough equipment so for that I think it falls under 1 Star maybe I would give it 2 stars if it was bigger but it's a no for me

Fantastic experience: I'm from Manchester and I was looking for a pure gym while I'm down south. There are three in Plymouth and this is the best one by far! Clean equipment. Good variety of equipment and pretty good layout.

Negative experience: The gym stinks from mould dust everywhere rubbish left under machines for days, nail clippings around machines. Clothes in the locker room left for days on the floor. Machine pads ripped. If it wasn't 24hr I wouldn't use it

Positive experience: Been using the gym for last 2-3 months and have no issues at all. If anything changing rooms could do with more space to get changed. Overall highly recommended pure gym team are brilliant! Nothing is to much of a issue

Positive experience: Shower temperature has finally been turned back up but the upstairs WiFi hasn’t been working for weeks. Many of the machine pads are cracked and splitting and need repair. It’s not bad for the price and the showers are much cleaner now

Fantastic experience: Since moving gyms to here from one at Ivybridge the overall experience has been great. Equipment is fantastic and up to date. Only downside is can get really busy during peak periods.

Positive experience: Parked easier than curling a new born. Struggled to get in; on a par with pressing bodyweight (machines fault) Plenty of free equipment so difficulty to train = tie own shoe laces. Totty count was as low as my resting heart rate; which is suspiciously low. Intimidation level was middle of the road, the staff albeit on their phones seemed like they would have helped, the big guys; although big had questionable sexual preferences. Free parking.

Fantastic experience: Great spaced out gym with plenty of equipment and good tunes

Fantastic experience: I use the marsh mills gym in plympton, I love the gym, I feel comfortable working out there, it’s close to my home and can always park. I want to give a shout out to my trainer Dan Gilmour. He’s knowledgeable, so positive and has made my gym time even better and actually useful for my goals. A credit to your company.

Positive experience: New member and attended for the first time. Used a number of different gyms in the past but not for a long time. Took out a membership because I want to maintain fitness after developing ITB syndrome while training for my first ultramarathon in August. My aim is to build core strength and maintain cardiovascular fitness. I found the gym area to be great with a wide range of cardio, machines and free weights as well as a couple of areas for more dynamic lifting and strength training as well as for led classes. The flavoured water was a welcome treat. The changing rooms were okay but only 3 out of the 5 showers were working (2 were signed as out of order). The largest negative was that the showers and floor outside of the showers were disgusting and made me think twice about using them. I have no idea how often they are cleaned but they need to be cleaned more often. It was only after I saw the state of the showers that I noticed the changing rooms weren’t as clean as I would have liked. Over all the work out in the gym was a positive experience and I will be returning but I will take flip flops with me next time for the showers and changing room. Fingers crossed they will be cleaner.

Negative experience: New-ish gym, same commercial gym mentality. Already looking beaten and the layout is not good. Larger floor needed really, too popular for it's own good.

Fantastic experience: Home for 6 weeks. Easy to join, easy to access. All the equipment you need. Love and hate the stair master!! Free parking to. Showers and changing rooms are clean and tidy.

Positive experience: This gym is hotter than the centre of an active volcano. Very busy peak times, but it's hard to be sad about the price.

Negative experience: Unable to gain access as a day pass. No one answered the buzzer at the door. No one to call on the phone. Absolute rubbish. Will never sign up because you can’t get any answers before you sign up as it’s all online Waste of my time trying to use a facility that’s not manned

Negative experience: Rant incoming. In Plymouth you're limited for options for gyms open 24 hours with gd internet access & friendly to lone training women. This Pure Gym at least there's consistent internet/machine selection is okay. I don't entirely like the layout, as a female training on my own with entirety of free weights & more interesting machines grouped at the far back, it makes for an uncomfortable environment when it's busy & there's groups of guys hanging around machines clogging cleaning points. The low score is the environment, the smell that accosts the nostrils upon entering beyond the "beam me up" pods, permeates the air the smell of a 1000 armpits & the most intense smell of rotting foot odour around the entrance area which last night caused me to feel physically ill upon entering to do a workout of an evening. It's so bad you can smell it upstairs on the balcony when on the treadmills. It follows you downstairs up until the spin room where the recycled air gives a bit of respite. There were points last night where I was trying not to gag it was that bad. And this is not the first time the smell has been ripe & overpowering so I'm having a moan on here! Machines & equipment I do not think they're cleaned properly by patrons either. It's polite to spray the equipment & wipe after use but I'm finding having to wipe before & after as equipment is sticky. I don't understand why the smell is so bad. Unsanitary & needs looking at. Smells like the inside of a thoroughly used gym sock I'll probably be back but please please please take a whiff of your kit & deal with it. I am begging you - If you can smell it even a bit, others can too.

Fantastic experience: I like this place, my wife is a full member so I go as a guest. It's got what you need for a decent workout, a good range of equipment over 2 floors and the staff are helpful and polite

Fantastic experience: I use puregyms all over the country and Marsh mills Plymouth is hands down the tidiest out there. Overall great gym, good atmosphere and friendly staff

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym with professional instructors, always very helpful and friendly. Most of the times, I am attending fitness classes and coaches push you each week to do better. I highly recommend Ben Beer and Darcen Yearwood, as thanks to their fabulous sessions, I am getting stronger as they always push me to my limit. There’s a lot of space and all equipment is kept clean. Good location as well.

Fantastic experience: Tolles Fitnessstudio. Auch als Gast mit einem Tagesticket sehr einfach zu nutzen. Man sollte für die umkleiden ein Schloss dabei haben. Sehr viel Platz. Tolle Geräte. Mehrere duschen vorhanden. Sehr zu empfehlen. Wir werden dieses Studio auch in anderen Städten nutzen.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. This is currently my local gym and I chose to go here over the one at Mutley due to it being slightly closer. I used to go to the other gym and I much prefer this one. It's a much better layout and kept a lot cleaner from my experience. The staff seem friendly but I generally keep myself to myself which is perfect. I will continue to use this gym and would recommend to anyone looking at going.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, easy access, plenty of parking, very well equipped, clean, warm, non judgmental. Overall a nice place to go and get fit. Prices are good, it hasn't ever been really busy when I have been in there but you are also not all alone.

Fantastic experience: Recently, ive had a personal training session with Scott ,from which i learned so much about form from. He is really attentive and good at encouraging you to push your limits and he is overall a warm person who really helps you build your confidence. I would definitely recommend him if you are looking for a PT!!!

Positive experience: Gym size is reasonable, price justified. Staff are friendly. Vending machines can charge you and not receive products, finance team are useless when trying to be re-funded. Parking free which is great, scanners at the door can sometimes be a little faulty.

Fantastic experience: Really clean, friendly staff and Personal trainers. Nick's classes are also a must attend so I hear. They also have an amazingly lit studio for the perfect work out selfie... also for classes but very cinimatic.

Negative experience: Not free parking £60 fine for parking before 6 30 am was not made aware you have to log your car inside the gym to get the 2 hours free parking and if you go over your 2 hours then £60 fine . The last thing you won't to do is wait in a line to the touch a pad that everyone else has touched.

Fantastic experience: Having never been a member of a gym but done nearly 3 years of outdoor bootcamp, followed by a year of lockdown home workouts I was looking forward to starting a new experience in the gym. There's a good atmosphere in there. Boxing of workout areas I think is a great idea regardless of social distancing rules. Cleaning stations are well used by everyone in the gym so no concerns there. Good range of equipment and the times I go in I never really had to wait for equipment. Its local, convenient and really good value for money.

Positive experience: I started at puregym this week and visited 4 times now. Each time it's been a good experience. Clean and well maintained. Cleaning stations and hand sanitiser available in several areas. Have struggled to speak to members of staff on a couple of occasions as they've not been around or only been one staff member available who's busy. Great range of equipment and easy to use. Changing areas and showers clean and well maintained. Love the puregym app and being able to see how many people are in the gym as well as great workout programmes. All classes included in the membership price. Great value for money.
