The Origin

Positive experience: The owner & staff are lovely and although we decided to not move gyms in the end, the equipment is really good, parking is slightly stressful but its not important as the gym itself is spot on, opening times weekdays are great too. They offer pre, intra and protein shakes, reasonable value too. If your into combat they offer boxing and other stuff too. Worth a visit and if you live local or new to the area and serious about strength/bodybuilding this is the place to go.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going here for a while now, I really appreciate the community vibe from the staff and members, access to meals and shakes and they’ve recently updated/brought in new equipment which is exciting . As a powerlifter that likes to train with elements of bodybuilding and calisthenics I can comfortably do all of that in this gym. There’s also boxing for adults and kids as Well as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The gym has so much to offer and is very fair in their pricing. You can do a day or a week pass which is usually when I want to train with a buddy that isn’t a member.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym. Have plenty of equipment and space. Nice friendly environment and safe place for anyone to workout. They have boxing club and martial arts training too. Overall a perfect gym.

Fantastic experience: Attended the kids boxing classes with my little people. The gym itself has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are approachable and easy to talk to. The boxing classes was fab, just as I remember it to be. Charlie is amazing with the kids and really engages them in the activities and had a bit of a one on one boxing session with each of them. Would strongly recommend The Origin Gym.

Negative experience: Just a scummy gym If I’m being completely honest. They set you up for a trap to get put into arrears, it’s quite sad actually. You have to give an entire months notice before cancellation, and there’s no clear option to cancel they said you have to write to them which is just completely disingenuous as they know most people will not do this. They put in the monthly membership “flexible” but it’s really not, that’s just there to give you a false sense of security. They are probably going to reply to this acting as if they care and are sorry for any inconvenience, just to attempt to keep up appearances, but in actuality they don’t care at all and just want to take your money. If they really did care they would make the cancellation process much easier but instead they keep this trap here. Most companies cancellation notice is usually a few days, I’m not sure what human on this planet is going to know that they want to cancel their membership an ENTIRE month into the future. Not only that, but they’ll try and send you threatening emails and attempt to legally strongarm you into paying and they try and make you pay an extra £25 as well AND they will try and send debt collectors after you, for a trap THEY set up. It’s disgusting and scummy. The worst part about it is, the machines are rusty and tatted and usually don’t have grips, and all around out dated, they’ll try and say that it’s due to “taking pride in being old school” but really they are just greedy kleptomaniacs, that don’t want to spend money on repairs and getting machines that are up to date and match the information that we have about exercise science today. Just an all around terrible experience at this gym. Please save your money and go to a gym that is worth your time and money because I can assure you this one is not it.

Positive experience: Great facility. Took my 5 year old for his boxing / boxercise class and was very impressed. The value for money is incredible ! Two male and one female trainers were knowledgeable friendly and engaging which put my son instantly at ease. Quite a long tough session but the boy enjoyed every moment and is keen to return which of course we will. As I get a better understanding of the facility I will update the post in due course. If your local and want to introduce your children to the importance of exercise in a fun way this place is ideal

Fantastic experience: Great gym

Negative experience: They have a trap to put your account in arrears. When you do monthly membership, they don’t make any contract or take sign from you and they will inform you that if you want to cancel membership just cancel direct debit. Once you do cancel direct debit, they put your account in arrears and send you threatening email. Also, you will see a reply from gym manager after my feedback explaining what is direct debit rule in general with other companies. About the gym? One of the oldest rusty equipment you will ever see in your life at Origin gym. No wonder why people don’t want to go there. Good luck with your monthly membership.

Fantastic experience: Very good gym, old school. But I wish it’s open on Sunday at least till 6pm, it’s closing very early 2 pm

Fantastic experience: I can’t really compare this gym to other gyms because this is the first time I’ve entered a gym, and actually stuck to it. My experience here has been really good, even though I’m like a matchstick man walking among gladiators, with no idea what I’m doing. The staff are friendly and always helpful. Even the gym’s members are friendly enough to give you some advice and pointers on how to use the equipment and each muscle groups to target. Some even offer encouragement when you’re training on your own which I think is really good of them. Gives you that extra boost of motivation! If you’re new to the gym, or any other gym, don’t feel like you don’t belong because they’re bigger than you, or they can lift heavier than you. Every one starts out with their own reasons to join. Origin has a great vibe, no one is judging so if you’re looking to join and finding it difficult to choose a gym, then definitely give them a try. Women - you’ll also find it to be very welcoming. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Their flexible monthly Membership is not in actual fact flexible or monthly. You have to give them a months notice to cancel. And should you forget they will process to harass you and chase you even though you’ve not attended them gym in months. So there has been no use of service. I see why people go to the bigger brand gyms now. For peace of mind a true FLEXIBLE MEMBERSHIP

Fantastic experience: Brilliant old school gym. Loads of free weights cardio machines and and a boxing area.

Positive experience: Good straightforward, no non-sense gym. Good range of equipment available. Only downside is that the changing room could do with a bit of TLC. Other than that, I'm pretty happy to keep working out here.

Positive experience: Not great for women. Mostly male gym goers which I guess is expected as I signed up with my husband but I feel intimidated to go on my own when he’s not there. Also no air conditioning which means you can’t really workout effectively during summer especially with the recent heatwaves. Reasonable price is the only reason why they get mid rating from me.

Fantastic experience: I have been attending this gym from the off, and I class it as my second home, it's clean the staff are extremely easy to get along with. Most deffinetly worth every star.

Negative experience: Never sign up for debit direct! I cancelled my one and got 93£ penalty + you will be forced to pay whole first year evan if you are not using the gym.

Negative experience: Although the gym is alright, I am very unhappy that I am not able to cancel my membership and then getting emails from the business saying that I have to pay £25 admin fee on top of my membership. KEEP IN MIND THAT I AM 17!!!!. This is ridiculous and I would not recommend going here unless you are certain you have the money to pay for the membership cause they have a horrible finance department!

Positive experience: Nice and local, Gym is a decent size, not too busy in the mornings. Only issue is that some of the equipment is broken or damaged and apparently has been that way for a while. Treadmills that won't incline, plenty of the heart rates on them do not work, some of the weight machines down stairs are looking tired and worn, some have broken parts and make them hard to use. Unfortunate but I guess this is due to the low price of membership.

Negative experience: Maybe prior to them scamming us out of our money I would have given them 4 stars, and Daisy was really helpful, I don't know if it fell apart because she wasn't there. But these things never let you give lower than one star, which in this case is what they deserve. BE CAREFUL hiring their bar/lounge/events room, honestly it's so unfortunate. They make you sign this bogus contract, that THEY don't even stick to. They make you pay for all these things up front, (bar spend, damage deposit, security, etc). Then when it goes wrong there is no accountability. No apologies. I had to chase them up for an apology! After paying almost £300 upfront for security, guess what, on the actual day of the event SECURITY NEVER SHOWED UP. Even the manager couldn't contact them, I was my own security. I paid for TWO as stated in the contract and only one showed up at 10:30pm (over 3 hours late). You'd think they would be apologetic, right? NO. Not only did they charge me for a security guard who did not even ID people for an 18 y/o's party, to avoid underage drinking (16/17 y/o's were completely drunk). The doorman couldn't even search these kids walking in with hoodies and duffel bags, because he was "on his own" (manager's words). They turned around and charged me. They said they didn't want to cause a ruffle in the relationship with the security company by asking for the money back because "they have a good relationship" with them. If you were genuinely sorry you try to reimburse the individual who was at a loss to show remorse. Correct? I asked for the security company's number, called them myself and funnily enough they gave me a full refund which the Origin gym has and has kept hostage, obviously to buy new gym equipment. But I believe in karma. If you still decide to risk your money and use them, my advice would be to deal with the security company directly, ask for their number and deal with them directly because Origin is scamming you to make money. It's their friends over at the security company so I don't see why there should be an issue.

Positive experience: Great gym, been attending it couple years back. Now when I signed up again it'a even better. New and more machines on which can you do a full body excercise. Bathrooms are in a medium condition but other than that the place is great. Staff is really friendly, always there to help.
