Positive experience: Nice place, plenty of parking. Lots of facilities for all levels and fitness and abilities.... my first experience here was good. I met nice staff so I would definitely recommend this lifestyle centre.

Fantastic experience: Such huge building with loads of activities to do. I take my son Football for training on the evening and the pitch is nice and spacious. As we walk down the huge corridor we see a Dance room, Gym, Roller skating room and plenty more. It's nice and clean with friendly and helpful staff. Carpark is a decent size and free to park...can get busy during certain times and days. Preferably Friday Evening. All in all a great place to visit.

Fantastic experience: Visited Portway Lifestyle Centre for my 'Flu' jab yesterday, my first time since my COVID vaccinations. My wife and I were super impressed with the welcome we received and the kind, helpful and efficient attitude of the staff. 'PLC' will be our new provider of GP services since the closure of Hayes Lane surgery and we could not be more pleased.

Fantastic experience: Plenty of facilities here, I like their badminton courts. Pricing is fair and also there is always a parking space available.

Positive experience: Went to use the pool for toddler session. The pool itself is lovely and warm. Sensory lights perfect for the lil ones. Also have toys that are put in and around the pool to use.. The changing room let's its down needs updating..cannot speak about any other facilities as only went there for swimming

Positive experience: Portway is a great gym, the people there really make it, people are so friendly and welcoming. Good quality gym equipment, although the gym is a bit small they don't pack it up so you have space to move which is good. Loads of classes and OneCard means I can do Badminton free at quieter hours and gives me access to the pool in Smethwick. Only downside for me is it doesn't open early enough but just means I do my cardio first instead of after my session.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend the children’s swimming lessons at the portway centre. I attended two different classes with my children and they’re both fantastic. My son attended another SLT pool for over a year, did not enjoy it at all, made very very little progress as his progress forms were never filled out. We have been attending Portway for 8 weeks now and i cannot believe how much better it is we have already received a certificate, my son now absolutely loves it and asks if it’s his swimming day most days! Fantastic staff and pool instructor. Had an issue viewing my son’s progress and it was fixed so quickly at the desk by really friendly staff.

Negative experience: If I could give a 0 rating, I would. Utterly disappointed by the service received. I mistakenly booked the wrong date for a badminton court, selected Sunday instead of Monday. I called up to ask to change as soon as i realised. They said they would call me back as i asked for a refund originally but I was at work I missed the call. I tried calling back on my break and the line wasn't going through. Tried again today to call them and was told I can't change and I can't get a refund and nothing can be done about it. I was told firstly I can reschedule now i cant? This is absolutely ridiculous! I didn't get to use the court and I didn't get my money back.

Positive experience: Went for my over 60s health check staff were obliging and showed care ,made to feel relaxed, I believe its wise to have tests done to give you piece of mind .

Negative experience: I’ve been to Portway a few times now and I can honestly say it’s the most unwelcoming leisure centre I have ever been. Tragic considering they are dealing with so many people with special needs.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant. We are in the 1 card membership, knocks spots off wednesbury - huge car park, very friendly staff, huge gym, never seems to be busy, huge changing and showing facilities, my wife uses the assisted gym & hydro pool - we are VERY IMPRESSED

Negative experience: Here for Hydrotherapy , so I thought it would be a sensible orderly clean place... wrong ! Ample parking in car park with plenty of free disabled parking but quite a way from the main entrance especially for people with mobility issues or disabilities. Whose idea was this . I Can't you open a rear entrance for access ? Reception is labelled Information with staff that are rather snappy in there tone - unnecessarily. Then past reception is THE longest corridor with a host of doors with no signing guiding you to where what is. So poorly thought out. Yes you will find physio hydro by asking others or the cleaners /maintenance guys etc. And when you get to that door there is some sort of paper sign attached to the front of the door telling you what's behind it. How do you see that from the corridor walk? So Hydrotherapy area was really poor. Whilst I'm sweating from the heat in this place the whole of the Hydrotherapy department area that I walked into was a state. Grubby muddy wet floor in the changing area, smelly too. Ladders everywhere with no warning that repairs and maintenance going on so males in the changing room. Individual changing areas are super grubby didn't even want to hang my bag on the peg. No signs of regular cleaning intervals taking place. Traumatised by the experience of changing myself in such a place I made my way to Hydrotherapy pool only to be told I can't enter if I do not have inhalers with me. Should be the first question asked when they see you arrive BEFORE you get changed! I left without any physio and was told to rebook. By the way, Just 10 lockers available 4 of which were broken, and you will need a pound coin with you. Whatever you do don't forget a pair of flip flops. Things that no one tells you before you get there. Needless to say I won't return for Hydro or anything else.

Positive experience: Visited for a recent birthday party. Was a roller disco party. Room where we were was pretty spacious with the children roller skating in an adjoining room. Sound system was provided which was used via Bluetooth on a phone. Was quite a walk from main entrance to where party was which for a disabled person is quite the walk. There was also some maintenance work going on in the area leading off the main corridor, this was cordoned off with barriers but there was a drain that had tape around, this in all wasn't pleasing on the eye. There was also a significant smell around the area where you entered the room. I'm sure once all the work is completed it'll be ok.

Positive experience: I use the hydro pool twice a week. It's very good. But to book on line is impossible. The prices don't tally up. Its a diffrent price at the desk. I'm confused.

Positive experience: Been there to attend a tournament. It’s easy to find , next to a main road with plenty of parking spaces . Facilities for changing dress and toilets are in good condition and separate for males and females and accessible ones. The event Hall wasn't big and no separate sitting area available for spectators.

Positive experience: Out of all of the gyms in the SLT group, this one has the most variety in equipment, I wish the others had many. My problem is, the equipment is dated compared to the other gyms, which I can cope with but I did find a lot of the showers were dirty and broken.

Fantastic experience: We come for our little one's swimming lessons in their heated pool. We've also had a few badminton sessions here. This is place is great, really well equipped and always very clean. The prices aren't bad either.

Positive experience: Attended the portway centre for an event being delivered by Sandwell Council. I found the building to be large, spacious with plenty of things going on. We were in a huge sports hall for today, which was great for the number of us attending. During breaks, I explored the facilities and found their staff very welcoming and friendly . Might return in the future for leisure reasons and explore some other facilities

Negative experience: My daughter does swimming here. can't fault the staff or the classes. However the changing rooms are nasty. It's starting to smell like urine now. A stong smell everything. Don't forget your slippers who knows what your standing on.

Positive experience: Only go to portway to drop off and pick up my autistic daughter, for a couple of times per week. Wednesday the gym, and Fridays swimming. From what I've seen and heard all the staff are very accommodating, and as long as she's happy then so are we.

Fantastic experience: We take our granddaughter here for swimming lessons as they use their hydrotherapy pool. Teachers are brilliant and classes not too big. They encourage the children in a friendly way to get the best out of them. Very impressed with the facilities here as it looks well kept, clean and loads of equipment if you are sports minded or gym enthusiast.

Positive experience: This is kind of what you might expect. The equipment is good enough and the space is good enough. You're unlikely to get "Gym People" in here so it's pretty relaxed and no pressure. Other facilities are good and access to the other Sandwell facilities makes the membership valuable.

Fantastic experience: Portway Lifestyle Center have Recommendable facilities (Medical center, Fitness center, recreational center, etc) The environment is clean and the atmosphere is serenous. The medical staff there are highly professional, friendly and they respond to events in ample time. The store woman right after the entrance is so nice and welcoming. I'll recommend her patronage all day everyday. Overall, I had an unforgettable experience at this center and for a good sake keep Portway Lifestyle Center is now my new GP.

Fantastic experience: One of the few things sandwell gets right are their leisure centres , love the Portway and a shout out to the team at Smethwick swimming centre and Hadley stadium

Positive experience: Very big building which looks stylish and modern, I have not seen all of it but I was not impressed with the sports halls as it was far to slippy for use, which is a sign the floor is not being kept in good order and swept regularly. Finding your way from the carpark to the main reception is another issue as nothing is signpost

Fantastic experience: My wife use’s the place at least four times a week at different exercise classes provided and really enjoys the classes she takes and has made new friends as very friendly. Good range of classes on offer and a good gym as well. Nice little heated pool for the toddlers and special days for health use etc.

Negative experience: I went there for 2 weeks and Cancelled my membership but still had to pay for 3 months. The membership was not a contract. They sent me a threatening letter saying if I didn’t pay in 3 days they would pass it to debt recovery.

Fantastic experience: It looks Fabulous..I believe it's fairly in new I visited for hydrotherapy so didn't see much more.It caters for a lot of indoor and outdoor activities.Good in parking disabled and able-bodied

Positive experience: I would of given 5 but the cleanliness of the changing rooms in the hydrotherapy pool is decreasing quite alot. Where as before the toilets smelt fresh they now have an over powering smell of urine and the bottom of the toilet is all stained and all it needs is a good scrub. Also the showers always seem to have hair in the plugs which causes them to clog up. The maintenance of the changing room facilities are constantly falling apart, shower rails gone or too rusty to move shower fixtures loose and ready to come apart so I really think they could do with a refurbishment seems they are so old and temperamental. Speaking of temperamental the warmth of the pool is always hit and miss which can be disappointing as I need the warmth for the muscle to relax otherwise I cannot exercise. However its a lovely place to go to the staff are lovely and kind always up for a chat and helping you out with a smile on thier faces. I have been going for many years and long may that continue but just please try to keep it up to standards especially if prices rise then so should your standards of hygiene and maintaining of the facilities.

Negative experience: Renewed my childrens swimming lessons on the 4th april went to tipton swimming baths for them to tell me there i a debt of £70 each child when i have clearly paid, i suggest you remove the debt from my accounts you useless people, also don't choose to have your children take swimming lessons there is no consistency with the swimming instructor, its a different person every week i believe anyone on there swimming school should recieve a small refund for no progression for my children since as i stated its a different instructor every week this is not far for us adults whom pay and the kids that dont know where they currently are shocking

Fantastic experience: Fantastic staff the gym has been amazing for and my PT has been brilliant can't thank him enough for all his help and patience helping me to regain a better fitness level. I can recommend this centre especially if you have mobility difficulties.
