Fitness First

Negative experience: Seen some shockingly bad behaviour from staff. A female worker just walked into the men's changing room with no warning whatsoever while some were naked changing. A male worker also came in so there was no need for the female to be there. This shouldn't be happening in men's changing rooms (and females too). Very poor!

Fantastic experience: I cannot praise Pearl Anderson, the Member Experience Manager at Fitness First Oxford Street, highly enough. She is an absolute gem and a true asset to the gym. Pearl is incredibly attentive, kind, and always goes above and beyond to ensure members are happy. Her problem-solving skills are exceptional, and she truly cares about creating a positive experience for everyone. I joined this gym purely because of my amazing experience with Pearl, and I’ve even recommended it to friends who are looking for a welcoming and well-managed gym. Fitness First really hit the jackpot with such a talented manager who is so dedicated to her role. Pearl, thank you for everything you do – you make the gym experience outstanding and I look forward to your classes!

Positive experience: Poor value for money. It’s too cheap to have nice amenities and too expensive for what it does offer. Cons: Change rooms too small for capacity, showers are grimy, sauna too small, not enough class options Pros: nice equipment

Negative experience: I went to train today and the gym stopped me, lol. I pay every month by direct debit. I tried to solve the problem myself because the receptionist didn't understand that I should re-register the account, finally it happens

She was very supportive & understanding of my needs & was also very positive & enthusiastic. It shows that she takes time to get to know her customers' needs as she presents herself with lovely empathetic attitude. I’m glad to have come across her as she made my gym visit very enjoyable & comfortable without rushing me to make a decision about joining. We need more genuine honest people like her! Negative experience: I went to the gym for the first time today and I felt bad about the service at the reception. I was in the sauna and was practically thrown out of there. The woman not only went into the men's bathroom but almost told me I couldn't shower. She treated me badly just because I forgot to put my weight away. Tomorrow I'm going to cancel my subscription. It was the worst experience of all the gyms I've been to. I paid to use the gym's services and she treated me as if I was there for free.

Fantastic experience: This is not my home gym but I decided to do one of the Pilates classes here and I am blown away. Gabby is a fantastic instructor, the class is challenging however she always provides a calm and encouraging environment, and suggests alternative moves for people with injuries or beginners. I have been back every week since and I have also taken other Pilates classes at other gyms, but Gabby has by far been my favourite instructor.

Negative experience: Shambles. Today was my last time going to the gym as I ended my membership due to gym classes always getting cancelled last minute once I’ve already made the hour journey. Ironically today it happened on my last day - cancelled 15 minutes before once I had already got to Oxford Circus. Such a waste of my time and energy. Also, the air con never works which is unbearable in summer. The only good and reliable instructor I’ve come across is Chris

Fantastic experience: I attended Fitness First gym in Oxford Street and was pleasantly surprised by how friendly and personable the staff were. Pearl, the manager was excellent and showed me around the facilities and even helped me when I couldn’t figure out how to work one of the machines. I would definitely be heading back very soon to work out.

Negative experience: I visited the gym to ask for pricing as a potential new joiner, I just wanted to ask for prices and potentially set up a time to visit for a tour and sign membership the following day as it was 5 minutes before closing. I was rudely told that the gym is closed and the staff member would not answer any question just told me to get out. I could tell that this would be an annoying and displesent gym experience from the staff member encountered.

Fantastic experience: Amazing club in the city! The classes and instructors are next level, and Pearl (manager) is an awesome role model in the club. She has helped me out so much with my own confidence in the gym, is a great motivator and keeps the club running like a dream

Negative experience: Gym is on a smaller size, but ok. Stuff requires serious training, rude and not able to handle conflict situations. Management of the gym is not responsive, so forget about getting in touch with them if needed.

Fantastic experience: I always have a great experience here thanks to the staff. The instructors Tsuki, Claire and Chris are really motivating and great at what they do. Pearl who works in customer services is always so helpful and accommodating to whatever you may need help with. Fitness First are very lucky to have her working there!

Fantastic experience: Every time I've been into fitness first on Ramillies road the experience has been great. Pearl is a credit to the gym and is always on hand with excellent customer service and handy with advice when needed.

Negative experience: Lacks variety of equipment Staff is not helpful Too small for the amount of people inside meaning you will spend most of your time simply waiting or squished next to people if your working with free weights Changing rooms are not the cleanest nor does the gym have proper ventilation as it is basement level Overall a horrible experience and unfortunately when coming to cancel your contract they will not allow unless an extremely large sum has been payed as well as will not help to move you to a different branch that may suit you more.

Positive experience: Bishopsgate gym is neglected regarding the pool and steam room. Steam room doesn't work for months, maybe even yearsas ive heard before joining, and the pool is dirty and has a horrible extreme bleach smell that literally hurt my throat. Some of the staff did not care giving good advice but some of them were really accommodating and friendly! Tottenham Court Road gym is the best!!! Good care of the customers and went above and beyond to help me as a disabled individual, while being respectful and treat you as an equal. The spa area is clean and comfortable! Only downside is that is equipment is broken or not working well, it takes a long time to fix it. Overall very clean gym with the exception of the cardio area which you can smell and taste the sweat in your mouth, maybe get a better ventilation system? Allow me to thank the staff again! Amazing !

Fantastic experience: Amazing place and staff, Poppy, Pearl are the best welcomed me in to the gym and showed me how it all work now making gains thanks to them!!!!! Damn I’m beefy all thanks to them I’m literally scared for my shirt seams. How will I fit through the door now, will I scare old people without knowing it!!! The path they lead me down it dark but full of greatness.

From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made me instantly comfortable. The gym is spacious and well-maintained, with state-of-the-art equipment and a variety of workout areas to cater to all fitness levels. The staff greeted me with friendly smiles and were incredibly helpful in guiding me through the registration process. They answered all my questions patiently, making me feel at ease as a newcomer. One aspect that really stood out to me was the cleanliness of the facility. The gym is immaculately kept, with a strong emphasis on hygiene and sanitization. This level of cleanliness was particularly reassuring in light of the ongoing pandemic. Another highlight was the wide range of fitness classes available at fitness first Gym. As a beginner, I was unsure of where to start, but the instructors were knowledgeable and understanding, helping me choose the classes that suited my goals and fitness level. Fantastic experience: Chris and Rob are fantastic! So much enthusiasm for the club. The three top things I like about this club (even over other fitness first clubs) is that it’s small, never too busy (and loud), and just has such a friendly atmosphere. It’s like a small club, but with all the perks of a big chain.

Fantastic experience: I am writing this review following an extremely positive experience I had at fitness first (the one at Oxford circuit), which I felt like sharing. This morning I noticed I had forgotten my necklace at the gym (after yesterday’s workout), so I contacted the gym staff - honestly with limited expectations of retrieving it. I am extremely happy to share that they located my jewelry and later that day I picked it up. Although it was an extremely stressful process, as this piece also holds personal value, the staff was extremely helpful and I couldn’t be more content. I would like to thank Gabby and Chris (fitness manager) for being on top of the matter, locating it, and bringing it back to me.

Positive experience: Have good classes and gym floor, however showers, changing rooms, and in general environment a bit worn-out and need update. Classes a bit too crowded and have little space to move then.

Fantastic experience: What a club! FF Soho is my happy place. Love the classes, love the trainers, Reception is always super friendly and accommodating (special mention to Poppy who helped me today!). I always feel so good having come to this gym. Truly one of a kind gym can't recommend enough.

Negative experience: I have been going to this gym for years, and it has always been managed by friendly staff, who greet you at the entrance and make you feel welcome and show they appreciate the local community. Recently, new management seems to have taken over and the level of service has gone downhill since then. Hopefully just teething problems, because it was such an excellent gym.

Fantastic experience: It was my first visit today, and Chris the fitness manager and Jack were so welcoming and helpful as soon as I walked in, letting me know where everything was and handing me a towel. A core class happened to be on when I arrived which I was able to join. It also had all the right equipment I needed for my workout.

Fantastic experience: you get this sense of community with the staff, shoutout to Chris and Ri, and your fellow gym goers given how intimate the gym space is, it allows you to familiarise yourself with those around you. The distance is convenient for me, it’s quite close to where i live and where i work. Last but certainly not least, the classes are probably the best way to connect with others and get an intense workout.
