Fantastic experience: Excelente place to recharge battery

Negative experience: Utterly appalled by the heartless, money-grubbing approach of Branston Golf Club Restaurant. I had made a reservation for a work Christmas party, costing £55, but unfortunately, due to deeply personal and unforeseen circumstances—my husband being rushed into hospital, and my granddaughter has just been admitted to intensive care— So I needed to cancel. When I rang to explain the situation and requested a refund, I was met with a cold, robotic refusal. No compassion, no understanding, and absolutely no flexibility. Apparently, pocketing a measly £55 is more important to this establishment than showing an ounce of humanity. The complete lack of empathy is staggering. In the hospitality industry, one would think “hospitality” might extend to caring about your customers, especially in times of distress. But clearly, this place is more interested in exploiting policies than building relationships or goodwill. I won't be stepping foot in this callous excuse for a restaurant ever again, and I’ll make sure my friends, family, and colleagues don’t either. Avoid this soulless place at all costs—they’re more interested in your money than your wellbeing.

Positive experience: Nice place, clean, and well decorated. The meal we had was good, but the table we originally booked was no longer available to us, with no particular explanation. They just said they were doubled booked, which sounds like a general excuse when they have messed up the bookings. With a half-hearted apology. It was a 30th birthday celebration, and there was a party of 18 people, so we needed plenty of space, especially with one of our party being disabled. We felt a little cramped up with the table we were given. Waiting staff were polite and helpful, and the service afterwards was good. Nice seating area outside, with lovely views.

Negative experience: Golf Course or theme park!?! Extremely disappointed to book on the eagle course to have it filled with people lining up to play, no staggered T Times and with that people more interested in drinking alcohol than playing golf. Took me 30mins to T off between first hole and 2nd hole. Decided to walk off and asked for my money back (Which they gave me). defo wont go back

Negative experience: I took 3 of my grandchildren to the crazy golf 8yrs 11yrs and 14yrs. It was really lovely. I decided to go to the clubhouse for refreshments. We went onto the deck outside as it was a sunny day. As soon as we stepped out the door to find a table I was approached and told sorry the children can't sit out here. I offered to go back inside but was told if I walked to the far end and turn to the right there was space to sit there. On entering this space it was cluttered with old tables and chairs the yard could have done with a good sweep and maybe a jet wash. As I went to go to the bar to order refreshments I noticed that there were 2 tables occupied and children younger than mine seated where we were told I couldn't sit. When I approached another of the waitresses I was told we'll it's in case the children were hit with a golf ball. I said have the other diners been informed about this? She said I don't know. I was also told at the bar that the waitress who initially told us that we couldn't sit out there was in a mood.... well mood or not I didn't appreciate being shoved in an out of the way place with my grandchildren a place that was unloved and cared for while other children sat in a nice place . The waitress in question was called Sue and needs to leave her moods at the door before starting work. Spoilt our day.

Fantastic experience: We got married at Branston Golf Club on 27th July 2024 and we can’t recommend this venue enough. Our wedding very nearly didn’t go ahead due to illness but the team stuck with us to help us every inch of the way. At times we didn’t know if we would make it and the care, compassion and help the team gave us is surely recommendable. The office staff on duty sprang into action when we had some issues and in no time had got us back on track for what turned out to be a wonderful day. The venue have some shining diamonds working for them and the venue is stunning. A million Thanks to Lois, Demi and all the team at Branston x Helen & Ian

Fantastic experience: We took our 2 grown up grandchildren after they had finished exams & were off school. It was excellent. I would class it as "great fun for all ages" lovely surroundings. Thoroughly enjyed it. Definitely go again.

Fantastic experience: My 6 year old always loves a session at the adventure golf and recently we can get him out of the driving range! Everyone here is always so helpful

Negative experience: Not a very good gym at all . Only a few weight's to use as I don’t like the classes For £98 .00 Pounds a month I wouldn’t recommend it . . Also staff are not very helpful on reception . Very rude the woman was with dark hair.

Fantastic experience: Retirement party and well managed by all staff, my partner couldn't have a particular starter, yet it was on the menu. Seems not enough people wanted it, so they didn't do it.??? But enjoyed the night.

Fantastic experience: This review is for the driving range only as I have not been to the golf course or the spa/gym. The range is very good with up to date technology which shows how far you have hit the ball and the direction. You can play virtual golf there and choose amongst 20 different golf courses, this is very fun to do. It is a decent price and get about 120 balls for around £12. There is a cafe at the range also which serves food and drinks. Overall I would recommend it.

Positive experience: Took grandchildren on the crazy golf course good fun had by all and not expensive. Recommend booking on line as during school holidays gets quite busy. Finished with lunch in the club house some great deals on children's food and the main menu had good options food competitively priced. We did have a mix up over our order which was perplexing for the hungry children but the staff handled it with good grace and we all enjoyed our options.

Positive experience: Use this place for swimming lessons for my grandchildren. Excellent coaches. Moved them from bannantynes, and it was the best move we've made

Fantastic experience: Terrific atmosphere had coffee and cake and both delicious. Staff very friendly and attentive, I understand that general public can now use the facilities of the restaurant so we will definitely be returning in the near future. A big thank you for inviting us Helen.

Fantastic experience: Recently joined the Country Club gym - everyone is happy and friendly. The Clubhouse is great and we've now had breakfast and lunch there (not on the same day!) after using the gym and pool facilities. Food is lovely, view across 18th hole is fab! It's a very welcoming place for food and drinks! We have yet to try golf - but that will be next on the list

Positive experience: Could not say it was the best family birthday meal we've had. Double booked the room we wanted, thought the prices were a high for what you got on some of the mains, pudding were nice though. The child's meal didn't come with a drink as it says on the menu.

Fantastic experience: Great New Years Eve event here. Food good as always, maybe could have put some extra staff on to help the lady behind the bar, she was struggling to meet demand at times.

Fantastic experience: Went to the Xmas Eve Michael Buble Tribute with Afternoon Tea. Fantastic event, excellent value for money and the Tribute was amazing. We will definitely be re-booking for next Christmas.

Fantastic experience: I'm no good at golf, but the driving range is good fun, staff are sound and there's food available there. Good for a social meet up, slap some balls down the range and catch up with friends.

Negative experience: I have always recommended the meals here, I had the branston hot dog this lunchtime, not only was the worse meal i have had at the golf club, it was the worst hot dog i have ever had. The sausage if you could call it that was literally the diameter of my little finger..

Fantastic experience: We had our wedding at Branston and it was just perfect. They made our day so special - we loved it. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. Sammie and Lois in particular were great. We have also eaten at the restaurant, always good food, a nice atmosphere. Thank you to the team.

Positive experience: Went to Clubhouse for family meal (Sunday lunch) chosen because of gluten free options, declared this on online booking and followed up by phone as this is a requirement not a preference and was told this was not an issue. The rest of us had a lovely meal but the G/F diner had a reaction to the G/F meal ordered so unfortunately will not be returning.

Positive experience: Nice practice facilities, pitching/chipping greens. Driving range with top tracer tech. Golf course itself is very flat with water aplenty to catch your balls. Greenkeeping could improve.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this place lovely food lovely facilities could do with a bit more leg machines in the gym but it's a nice gym pool and hot tub and sauna facilities are second to none and setting for the golf course is like something you would see in Florida to have a place like this in Burton is fantastic

Negative experience: Golf course!! If you wanna call it that. Having wanted to play here for a while, got the opportunity today, safe to say, never to return. Disappointed to say the least. Granted, we've had some rain last few days but condition of the course, I wouldn't pay £4 nevermind the £40 we did. Go on the website you'd think it was a prestige course, but the tee boxes were abismal, not one level tee box throughout the 18 holes. The fairways at best, played like rough. Couldn't tell where fairways ended and rough began. Odd bunker a went in, one had weeds growing init. On a positive note, the greens were decent. Wish I'd taken photos! Felt sorry for the lady in the tiny proshop, reluctantly forced to come out to tell our group to split up, we was a 2 & a 3, the course was quiet so made a 5. Wasn't hurting anyone, not holding anyone up, but some snobby old **** reported us. Excellent service from the chatty barmaid in the bar, asked how our round went. Sausage/bacon sandwich where highlight of the day.

Fantastic experience: Played the Championship course for the first time yesterday. Really enjoyed the challenge. Very welcoming venue, excellent food and service. I will definitely return in the near future.

Negative experience: Came in for what I thought would be a nice lunch in remembrance of a late loved one. BUT then for it all to be ruined by the absolutely shocking service of the waitress. She wasn’t pleased about a price discrepancy that she persistently tried to force on me. This was eventually amended by a manager (to her disappointment) and so decided to rudely slam the card machine down in-front of me and my mother without saying a word - didn’t ask if we wanted a receipt and abruptly left the table without a word. I did complain to the manager but wasn’t taken seriously. We just got told oh she’s not normally like that?! Oh I guess it’s just to ‘people like us then!’ How awful and unwelcoming.

Fantastic experience: Lovely friendly staff, very attentive.

Positive experience: A nicely kept well maintained place. We attended a wedding here recently. The food was delicious, a great variety of food and drink - Compliments to the chef. Other than the function rooms, we didn't see much of the grounds. The service could do with a shuffle. Staff weren't very attentive. The car park is huge and Free, however at night its not lit up, this could do with some form of lighting. Overall, a nice experience. Thank you.

Negative experience: Course was in poor condition, the greens were particularly bad. More pitch marks than I’ve ever seen on any course. Says a lot about the people/members that had recently played.

Fantastic experience: Went to use the driving range here with some work colleagues. Attended out of the blue, without pre-booking. The staff were very accommodating and managed to get us two driving bays next to each other. They also extended our time as well when requested. The bays have great facilities with screens to track distance and deviations of your balls. Some fun game versions as well, for example, closest to the pin, distance drives, etc. Options to order food to your bay didn't utilise this time. Costs were reasonable at £10 for over 100 golf balls.

Negative experience: Appalling. Avoid Eagle Course. False advertising on their website. To quote the Branston Club website; “The course is maintained to a similar high standard to the Championship course”. Unfortunately photos attached show this is not the case at all. Disappointingly, the golf reception acknowledged the poor quality of the Eagle course however could not offer any level of compensation for the £72 4 ball we booked online in advance. Having open tee times on the main championship course confirmed, we enquired if we could pay the difference to move over to the main course as from glimpses it looked in much better condition and again, unfortunately this was not an option for the golf reception. Overall a negative experience deserving of 1 star review based on misrepresentation, course quality & value for money.

Fantastic experience: We had our wedding there on 22nd of April 2023. The place was lovely and the food was amazing. The only issue we had was lack of communication to us in the moment when they changed the wedding planner. We found that out by accident and it would be much appreciated if the venue contacted us to avoid added stress before the big day. But Sammie (Operations Manager) was great and she managed to sort all of our pending things in couple of days. She provided us with amazing support on the day :) Facilities are great and the prices good. Definitely would recommend as wedding venue

Fantastic experience: Went to my eldest sons wedding there on April 10th 2023 from the wedding service, the atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff, the food was superb. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the PAVILION for anybody wanting to get married.

Positive experience: I went to a breakfast business meeting there. We met in the Pavillion. It was a light and spacious meeting room. A welcoming foyer. We had pastries, tea coffee and juice. A nice atmosphere. The toilets were clean. I would recommend this place for meetings.

Negative experience: We came to the Branston Golf Club for a Christmas party night, on the brochure it stated decorated tables.... no they wasnt! nothing Christmasy on them not even a Christmas Cracker! we should have had a Balloon modelling competition... guess what...... it did not happen, food was nice but very tight on the cheese on the cheese board, even a mouse would have turned his nose up..... very disappointing

Positive experience: Normally I would have scored higher, but on this visit, not so good. Jacket potato definitely not freshly cooked and only just luke warm. People on the next table complained about their food too. It was quite busy, being school holidays, so maybe they needed more staff and better organisation. Will give them the benefit of the doubt and try again.

Fantastic experience: This place is so nice and tranquil it makes you want to learn golf. I came here with my family to play crazy golf and we stayed to enjoy some food at the club house. The staff very polite and friendly helping direct where to go. We’ll definite visit again!

Fantastic experience: 18 hole Adventure golf is good fun, not sure it's worth £6.50 for a child under 12 & £9.00 for an adult, I think you could literally complete the course in 40 minutes based on 2 people playing but like I say it's good fun. There are very clean toilets in the main golf club and a bar/ restaurant which we didn't use so cannot comment on.

Negative experience: Nice surroundings but coffee awful and food below average but pricey.

Positive experience: We had a great time playing the adventure golf here. Its well maintained and clean. We paid £18 for two adults which seemed fair for 18 holes of mini golf. It can be stressful if people are waiting for you to finish your hole, however you can always offer people to go first as we did so we didn't feel the need to rush. It is recommended you book however you can turn up on the day if you're willing to possibly wait. We visited on a Saturday during school holidays without booking and it wasn't an issue. Great fun for family and friends though and we would definitely play again.
