Positive experience: Its entirely serviceable at the price point.... would very benefit from improved (indeed, functional) air conditioning. Rarely have to wait for the equipment I want but the refit has moved it away from cardio and towards strength training. This has led to an increased number of people seemingly doing very little and just hanging out in the gym, but most users are genuinely there to work. Not traditionally a gym person but I've never felt uncomfortable here. If you're after a fitness barn you'll not be disappointed.

Negative experience: By far the worst gym I’ve had the displeasure of using. Equipment is always terribly organised (dumbbells in no particular order - not even in pairs). Similarly the aircon does not exist. I have been at all times of day, morning and night but the aircon blows lukewarm air in your face, even when it’s 28C outside. Have spoke to a member of staff who was nice turned the aircon onto cool for me and my mate but that was only on one occasion. Submitted a ticket through the app to complain about the temperature and was told they can’t put the aircon on cool because of “company policy”. It’s cheap for a reason. Every other puregym or energie gym I have been to has been a suitable temperature, but this is so bad I got heat sickness on two occasions. Don’t bother going if you want to do cardio because you won’t be able to run far before overheating. I shall be moving to another gym at the end of this month. I’ve already had 2 gym mates leave because of this and spoke to several other gym goers displeased with the temperature. Unfortunately management is too bothered about the increase in energy bill associated with keeping customers comfortable.

Negative experience: The gym has had a makeover. The make over has reduced the gym in my eyes by adding these functional areas they have now limited the space for free weights and feels very cramped. This is a gym where I experienced yesterday "cool" guys sitting on weight rack casually talking like the db racks are sofas lol. When I went to get some dumbells that he was sitting on i was made to feel like I'm bothering them as I asked them to move to get weights. Same guy says he using bench only to sit on weight rack a further 10min watching said bench to then not use bench and use Inc bench. It's a tossers gym and I will be quitting it . It was actually ok prior to the up/downgrade.

Fantastic experience: Meeting helpful staff like Doug can make a big difference on making you feel welcome and comfortable.The sign in process was remarkably effortless and uncomplicated.Doug conducted an extra ordinary full body workout which left a lasting impression on me.He went on to guide me through various machines that I had not previously used.He recommended I book an induction online, a suggestion that I wholeheartedly intend to follow.Thank you Doug for your exceptional kind welcome.

Fantastic experience: Really enjoying the 45 min classes at the gym - particularly the Monday evening class with Vance! He is so encouraging and it’s a really nice group who go! It’s a great class - would recommend to anyone needing a bit of group motivation! Monday is now my favourite day!

Negative experience: Very bad gym dirty and the staff are really bad when I join there I had 4 free pass they took that off me very bad only reason I came hear is close to my house steam room is broken everytime very expensive now the staff looks bit better than before you pay for what you get I pay a lot 48 pounds plz take my request in your mind 1 week my jumper and my T-shirt got stolen never got it back sorry to say very bad

Positive experience: I love the facility very nice gym. It is big, conveniently placed, and has everything you want and need. The spray bottles and paper towels are often empty and missing which is a draw back. And the gym creeps at this one are not only consistent but aggressive. (Literally has privacy concerns arise from some dude following me from the gym.) And a female (who i presume gypsy.) Got so hostile with me that she raised a set of weights at me like she was going to hit me with them. Again, I would assume because her man was being a creep and watching me squat. The gym itself is why this is a four. Lovely center…

Negative experience: mens changing rooms in horrible condition. Urinals out of order for ages and some of the showers. The ones that do work have broken pegs and locks and stink. The sensors are awful also, showers give you about a 10 second burst of warm water and then turn off. The gym itself is ok but a lot of the equipment is in disrepair, especially the calf raise machine which consistently breaks and obviously gets repaired to a low standard. A lot of the equipment is rusting and old as well, and most of the carribeaners are broken too. There are a lot of simple things that could be done, that aren’t being done to make the gym much nicer.

Fantastic experience: I am enjoying my workout there every day. All good, nice clean, no problem at all just evening times are very busy and you have to wait for your turn to use the equipment and I'm kind of person/body who can't wait for long in between exercises/sets

Sadly starting to offer less classes, and has for some reason no cleaning materials available (I thought it was kind of normal to wipe down your equipment when you finish, even before covid?) Fantastic experience: Love this gym! It’s cooling, I never overheat. They have everything you need to train hard and motivate yourself into consistency. Lots of space to work with. Staff are friendly and helpful. Classes are enjoyable. I never have trouble parking only in January and there’s always a place to go around the side. Classes do fill up in January so it’s best to get them booked in advance and definitely arrive at-least 30 mins early to get the equipment because they have run out before. The equipment is also neat and the facilities like the changing room are kept clean. Has the foundations for a good community here.

Positive experience: Friendly environment for all ages including staff members that can give you tips and helping you achieve best results. I suppose the showers and toilets could have more regular checks... Been a member since it opened and suits me alright plus unbeatable membership prices. Just a thought.. how about a steam or sauna room? Or even both, that would be perfect for me and wouldn't mind to pay extra for that. Cheers

Positive experience: I've been a member since it's opening. Provides good facilities around the clock and you know what you are getting in terms of equipment and facilities. Staff are friendly and helpful and would highly recommend. A 5 star for me would be to have more Power Racks.

Positive experience: The equipment in this gym is aging, rusting in places and frequently breaks as a result. The weight labels on machines are also missing. The gym is lacking equipment other gyms in the area provide as standard. I have been using this gym for years and seen it's membership increase dramatically, but whereas smaller gyms in the city centre and Bristol have had refurbishment & equipment completely replaced, The Gym Group seem content for this one to carry on without any upgrades, replacements (or maintenance without frequent nagging). There are nowhere near enough barbell benches (only 2) so if one breaks there is only 1 for a gym that can have well over a hundred people in it at a time. A Smith machine is not an suitable substitute. There are no incline barbell benches. There are regularly not enough attachments for machines. They do not keep up with the latest available grips for cable machines. Some of the locks on the lockers in the changing room are difficult to operate because of their age and need of replacement. The locks on some of the shower doors are broken. In my opinion, there are far to many cardio machines that never get used and could be replaced with different weights machines.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to 'The Gym' on Newport Road for over a year now. All the staff are really friendly and helpful when needed. The gym overall atmosphere is really friendly that you do not feel uncomfortable, members are always willing to help each other too. There is always plenty of weights, equipment to use when I attend. The changing rooms are large spacious clean. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Been going here over a year, there are some bad points but I feel the good outweigh the bad. The bad: showers need a refresh, can be very very busy at peak times. The good: accessibility /opening hours, staff are fantastic, membership is reasonably priced, and the vibe isn't intimidating so it's good if you're a bit nervous about going to the gym.

Negative experience: Great local Gym, however men’s shower room and toilets need a very good deep clean!! Chewing gum in shower room hasn’t been cleaned in few months! shower floors are starting to lift/separate. Broken toilet seat hasn’t been fixed/changed? Dont get me wrong the gym is fantastic however it’s a dam shame the shower room and toilets are bad. Hopefully this can be actioned.
