Fantastic experience: Really good facilities. Staff always welcomed you when you came in. Never too busy either and good selection of classes. Would recommend!

Positive experience: The Gym itself and Staff are great. I have recently had to cancel my membership for several reasons (not money). When I cancelled my DD after about a year of membership I received an email from the Company Riverside use to collect payments saying my DD will be collected subject to min membership terms. Eh it is a no contract. This was my first issue, Secondly, I then called Riverside got through and the phone was put down on me. Overall, great gym and floor staff however office staff and outsourcing of admin leave something to be desired.

Positive experience: First time visiting this gym- plenty of parking, lots of different equipment, Everyone is busy doing their own thing, I felt very comfortable. Some of the equipment could of seen better days (small cracks on the front of the running machine, but worked fine) They have a womens only section (didn’t visit yet) The Changing room are really nice, bright lights & hairdryers available. The Only downfall was the state of the showers. The shower curtains are dirty & there was hair covered on the floors. Reminds me of the school PE showers & the showers which have a door,they don’t have any locks. Overall, I’m really happy & can’t wait to return :)

Fantastic experience: It's a chilled out kind of gym, and the music they have on doesn't kill your ear drums with the volume, thank god. I'm not into cardio but they have an excellent spectrum of cardio machines. The gym is split across several areas and has a massive range of equipment- everything you need really, apart from a calf machine. Not sure why there isn't one there... There is a mix of all different age groups and shapes, so however old you are, and regardless of your body type, you won't feel uncomfortable. Everybody mostly keeps to themselves and just gets on with their training. I work from home and it's right up the road from me, which is so convenient. I usually go in the morning and it's never crowded. There are a few staff who are all helpful, if you need assistance with something. Quite a few personal trainers float about with their clients. There's a juice bar and a small seating area with magazines, etc, for those people looking for a bit of company, which is a nice touch. It's superb value and I'll be a member for the long haul. Got to get this mum bod back into the shape I had when I used to come here 20 years ago when it was called Fitness First. GOALS!

Fantastic experience: This gym is excellent, has more machinery you know what to do with (but with friendly staff who are more than happy to demonstrate etc.), loose weights, a functional fitness area, studio and classes (which unfortunately never got round to attending due to relocating). The changing facilities are smart, too. I would really recommend Riverside to someone looking to join a gym.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this gym, as a person who was super nervous to join a gym for the first time after feeling anxious, they made me feel really welcome and took the time to show me how everything works, they genuinely cared and the juice bar is amazing! The machines and changing rooms are always kept clean. The staff are super friendly and always willing to help.

Fantastic experience: It’s a lovely gym that not many people know about. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone that asked. The staff and the manager are all lovely and the gym itself is very well stocked with your choice of machinery and weights. For me, the main selling point however is the female only section, not many gyms offer that and for that reason - 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: I have been to a few gyms and this one is by far the best one very well spaced out and laid out.

Negative experience: The gym has decided today that it will be removing its spa facilities such as sauna and steam room, all whilst not lowering the membership price. Perhaps this should have been voted on, by your PAYING customers instead of some secluded executive-type decision by a manager, who made the decision as he was too lazy and incompetent to keep on having to call 3rd party contractors in to manage and maintain it. I'm cancelling my membership and going elsewhere. I expect others will do the same.

Negative experience: Website allowed me to book a membership even though when I arrived the facility was closed. Following this I obviously cancelled my membership. 2 months later, not only have I not received a refund but they have charged me for a second months membership despite me emailing a number of times.

Negative experience: This review is during this Covid-19 period: There seems to be no adherence to social distancing and cleaning of machines and equipment by various members - staff seem to be unconcerned. Membership fees have gone up to cover costs, but there's seldom sufficient cleaning supplies around the gym. I've witnessed personal trainers use machines and leave without wiping them down - seems like we're all learning by way of example.

Fantastic experience: Recently got admission there. The gym is on ideal location and is in the calm place. Affordable plans and ideally designed to be accessed by everyone. The equipment is well maintained. From clean lockers to the well maintained hot showers it’s all amazing. Separate hall for ladies to workout on side where even the Male staff is reluctant to go. So professional and friendly staff. Easily approachable. Free WiFi and the countless machines to target every muscle in your body. Music playlists are always latest. I’d highly recommend this gym for the locals although I’m on short stay but you can definitely take advantage of this amazingly clean and nice gym. Good luck with the fitness.

Fantastic experience: Haven't really got much experience on the gym front but I joined here about 4 months ago as a friend has referred me. All the equipment is pretty new and in good condition, a nice variety of machines and classes. Air con is a God send on the warmer days, however I think the separate section downstairs for ladies only lacks with the air con. It always seems so much warmer than the rest of the gym. Showers and sauna available to use and a large changing room with toilets and plenty of lockers also.

Fantastic experience: I am overjoyed and truly grateful to Paul who happened to answer my call today when I've called the club number. Paul went beyond the call of duty to assist in finding the records of my gym membership which goes as far as 2014. I was a member of the gym then and I needed a letter to confirm just that. The letter was of critical importance to me and despite the previous attempts/calls to Hartland, the company dealing with direct debits for memberships, my payments history was still hard to be traced. Paul really made my day in helping finding the records and agreeing to help with the letter I needed. I am truly grateful for your help Paul.... Very professional attitude, politeness and willingness to help.... You are definitely a real asset to the club. Thank you!

Positive experience: Nice, not too busy and all the kit there you'd need

Positive experience: Recently joined here and I have to say, it's an ok gym, equipment is a bit dated but essentially works!! Best things are the sauna, steam and ice rooms. They also have a ladies only area which is perfect for those that aren't so confident or just like working out in a more quiet area. Changing rooms are huge and even have a tv in there, plenty of showers, hair driers and plug sockets for straighteners etc. It has to be the only gym that has 6 tv screens that you can put your headphones into whilst working out on the treadmils, bikes, cross trainer etc, plus they play all the best old school music.

Positive experience: Plenty of equipment to chose from but needs investment in some new machines and new toilets. Staff are friendly and not pushy to get clients. I see the only money being spent by Riverside Leisure is a wooden fence around the parimeter. Very strange place to start especially when asking new members to pay £20 a month!

Negative experience: Really disappointed in this gym. I've been a member for a small while now and it's really gone down hill. The equipment is falling apart and dirty, it does not seem like its cleaned regularly at all. I then went to leave after my last payment was taken 3 days ago but have been told its 30 days notice. This has frustrated me as I was clearly told when taking out my contract that there was no notice period and I can leave whenever. Very disappointed.

Positive experience: Has everything you need out of a gym. Plenty of squat racks, bars, benches etc. Good member/gym ratio also, so even at the busiest of times you can still get a good session in, which is always a plus. Price is also competitive for what they offer.

Fantastic experience: Great staff who are always keen to help. The gym has 2 floors so there's a wide range of equipment, from cardio, strength and fuctional. They also have a ladies only gym which many gyms don't, great idea if you are self conscious. And tne Personal Trainers are amazing.

Positive experience: I've been a member of this gym since before it was owned by Lifestyle Fitness. Their revamp significantly improved the layout of the gym. Their prices are excellent for the facilities. The sauna, steam room, and ice room are exactly as they were from Fitness First, yet the prices are more towards a budget gym. There are only a few negatives; there was a stretch of a few months where I would go to the sauna only to find it is room temperature, or to the steam room and the steam is off. No prior notice, which made it frustrating. The other is that the water bottle fountain is very low pressure and takes ages to fill a bottle. Odd, considering the taps on the basins themselves seem very over-powered. It's near-impossible to use the hot water too, as it's painfully hot. They are aware of this, and have put up "caution hot water" signs rather than perhaps installing mixer taps. Overall rather picky negatives which hopefully says that they're doing everything else right. Very pleased to be a member here.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym. It has a womens only section too which is fab if you're intimidated by hulky looking men lol.. also fab legs bums and tums class and yoga.. also the staff are super friendly and welcoming. You will not feel intimidated coming here

Fantastic experience: By far the best gym in Cardiff! Not only does Lifestyle have a great range of equipment available for people of all levels and abilities, it also has a great community feel to it, which is usually a hard thing to find in a gym environment. Not only are the Personal Trainers very friendly and helpful, the General Manager, Lawrence, is always walking around to check that everybody is happy with their experience at the club and to answer and queries anybody has, which I have never experienced with other General Managers that I have come across in the past. This club definitely has the friendliest team of professionals I have ever met and I would recommend to everybody! (Also, you won't come across better post-workout smoothies/shakes anywhere else thanks to Pete!)

Negative experience: several cars have been broken into this past week (December 2016) with smashed glass all over the ground of the club car park. The club seems to be doing NOTHING about it and have failed even to notify or warn members of the risk!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym. It's huge with so much equipment. There's a sauna and steam room too and a café area that sells shakes. They have one area here that is for women only which I think is really good for the self conscious females (or of a particular religion). Even Male staff aren't allowed in there. The price of this gym is very good considering how amazing it is. I paid for 15 months up front and it worked out at about £14 a month. There are different options for membership but I need to commit so that was best for me.

Negative experience: So I've been a member of lifestyle fitness for 3 years. I've just missed a payment this month. They then charge me a £25 'administration fee' for the pleasure. I phoned the very unhelpful finance team who said that its in my contract and there is nothing that I can do......Just cancelled my membership and will be looking for a gym that doesn't think its a bank. Awful service. Be very wary of any company that thinks this is a good way to treat their members....If you look (as I should of done) at reviews for Lifestyle fitness, you can see that this is a major complaint made to them which they are obviously completely ignoring. The gym itself is mediocre with constant equipment breakage which are ignored

Negative experience: Very disappointing level of service recently. The boiler has been broken for a number of weeks, so no hot water. Turned up for 8:00am this morning (Saturday) still waiting outside at 8:15am. It is not unreasonable to expect it to open on time.

Negative experience: Worst decision I ever made. Paid up front for a year, sauna and steam room has now been out of action for over a week, impossible to access the club using the 'super' biometric doors - have to ring the doorbell to be let in and then go searching for a member of staff to be let back out. No longer any cleaners on duty so generally very grubby and dirty.All the signs are that the new management just want your money and are not prepared to actually look after the club and it's facilities.Can't wait for my 12 months to be up so I can go elsewhere.Have a look at the 5 star review below and see if you can work it out - it's probably been written by a member of staff especially the bit about 'other low cost gyms' duh!
