Positive experience: I visited for a tour, I would say it is a decent gym for weight-lifting, has a ladies only gym as well plus boxing ring and a swimming pool with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Plenty of equipment but not much space around each station. Parking on-street free parking available, you will just need to enter your registration number at the reception. Sign up is possible only in person, joining fee £55 per person, £49.99 on a 12-month contract or non-contracted membership for £57.99. They do offer a joint membership option for two people which is a little bit cheaper.

Fantastic experience: Over the years I have had memberships in most of the gyms in Medway and I can honestly say that Rochester Health Club is the best of the bunch. The gym is so well stocked that you can change your workout routines on a regular basis and never get bored of the place (and never spend time waiting to use equipment). Membership prices are very reasonable for the amount of equipment and facilities that are available to you. I cant see myself training anywhere else, to be honest

Fantastic experience: I was previously at Nuffield, but after they shut their hot tub, and the steam room kept breaking down and the swimming pool was always full of kids I fancied a change. RHC has a superb Gym, loads of different machines, a great pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna, classes. Basically everything you could want, and their team is helpful and friendly. Will be staying. 18.09.2024, yep, staying here, still the best gym in Kent.

Negative experience: Let’s start with saying I never felt welcome from day one at this place. You make eye contact with staff there and instead of welcoming you,saying simple hello I don’t know how hard that is they give you weird stares. Am paying membership for two ppl over £100 and to be treated that way is shameful. Fact you can’t even welcome your members when entering place I mean what else can I say. I do regret not listening some of the ppl who already said same thing. Gym have a lot of equipment and reason I joined is all women’s gym and the pool I can come swimming with my kids. But all women’s gym is small and doesn’t have a lot of equipment I would like to use which is really shame. I feel comfortable there mostly cos of staff who makes me feel very uncomfortable everywhere else. Let me please say there are few amazing ppl there,very kind but ones who are so rude and full of themselves just overpowered those few who are nice. There is one PT guy in particular who I feel works there to make ppl unwelcome and uncomfortable. I don’t go there so often cos of this reasons so I don’t know his name. Also after I went swimming few times with my kids there is been some weird ppl there behaving awfully,nobody came once to ask them to stop or remind the there are other ppl there too. I wonder where was that guy who walks around and behaves like he owns the place and we are all there for free to tell them that behaviour was not acceptable or he rather just makes nice ppl uncomfortable for no reason All in all once my membership ends there is no way I would come there even if they offer me to come for free. It’s really shame cos place have so much potential and with right management and right staff place can be thriving with happy members.

Fantastic experience: Joined for a month to see what it was like , first day had a wobble , second visit more happy , now after 2 weeks will definitely be staying , fantastic club , so many machines , it's got me into gym work as well as swimming , the pool is only 20m but definitely worth it , I can still train , very nice people and considering it's a busy place the club is kept well , great staff , great facilities and now actually look forward to going each time

Fantastic experience: As a returning member after many years absence (due to personal circumstances) I am really impressed with the advances the centre has made. The gym has everything you would need. The ladies only section is a joy. The pool is excellent. The standard of cleanliness is faultless. The staff are friendly and helpful. As a bit of an old codger I feel very comfortable here.

Negative experience: Been going to this gym now for over a year and the equipment is decent I can’t complain about that, plenty of stuff to use. Can get quite busy in peak times though and you may have to fight people to use things. No water fountains either so you’ll have to pay for bottles of water at the front desk which is ridiculous, I’ve never been to a gym that doesn’t supply you with free drinking water. The gym itself is always a mess from the changing rooms to the gym floor it’s never being cleaned. But the worse feature of this gym by a county mile is the staff!!! they’re the rudest people I have ever met in my life, you say hello the them and they just snarl at you like you shouldn’t be there, they also like to stand upstairs and stare at you from above which can be quite intimidating. The so called pt’s they have working there should be ashamed they haven’t got a clue, just look at you like dirt and clearly have their favourites who they talk to but if you aren’t in that click then don’t even bother. Avoid this gym like the plague.

Fantastic experience: Kinda weird asking me to review a place based on a website visit, but ok. Their customer service is great, and the monthly membership fee is well worth it just for the classes. I've got about a dozen friends who use Rochester Health Club and they all love it. So if you can drive, because there's no public transport to that area specifically, or you're happy to walk it, then sign up.

Fantastic experience: This is a great gym! One of the best if not the best that I've ever been a member of. There's so much equipment it would take ages to try out everything and a huge variety of cardio machines, some fancy ones that other gyms don't have. Great selection of free weights and a reasonable number of squat racks. Very neat and clean. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Pool, sauna and jacuzzi are excellent! The membership price is on the higher side but you 100% get what you pay for and it's definitely worth it IMO. The only downside is not related to the gym directly therefore doesn't affect the rating, but car park situation isn't the best at peak times. Sometimes it's so rammed that parking is stressful and I saw it 100% full before. Overall, avoid the peak times and you'll be satisfied!

Fantastic experience: The most fully equipped gym, clean in every corner, and instructors around you all the time to help you and answer questions. The Sauna and the Steam room are excellent, and so are the jacuzzi and the pool. I will always be going back there whenever I am visiting Rochester!

Positive experience: Updated since my last review as elements have changed. Pros: staff are great, always friendly and polite. Lots of cardio machines Wide range of weight machines Spa area is nice and well kept Dumbbells and machines are well ordered Cons: peak time I haven't for the last two months managed to complete the workout I'd hoped to, and this is a recent shift. I don't recommend between 1700 and 1900 Shower areas are dirty and there is/was black mould in the showers Fellow gym user manners is -10/10. No weights put back, personal space not observed, dumbbells left lying across the gym.

Negative experience: Been a returning member for a few years now and the customer service has never been the strong point or the over priced membership, however it is the most "equipped" gym local to me either by 5 min drive or 25 min walk. The above was forgivable until they decided to take 2 months of extra membership, mislead me to think I'd get a free month and then tell me I couldn't have my month I had unnecessarily needed to give them back as they had already previously agreed to take it as "reicpet" of time, even than this is no where stated in my contract that I need to pay 1-2 months upfront. No better than common thievery. All smiles and laughs to get you in and sign a ludacrisly expensive membership but god forbid you need some customer service post sign, they are not interested. Good thing they've invested more money on cardio now when there are machines on the bottom floor that have no business being in that building. And don't worry, if you don't buy their bottled water you can just go drink out of the warm toilet taps as they has and never will be a much needed and honestly very basic water fountain Do yourself a favour, don't sign away your hard earn money to them and make the little extra trip to one of the more honest gyms around here. Edit:- in response to your reply. I originally enquired for the refund well before this month commenced, but lack of you or management not bothering to follow up with the 3 times I requested to talk to to someone, has meant I have had to use up my membership, considering I have no plans to ever return to you. And then you also having the audacity to tell me I should have emailed you directly when even you colleagues were suggesting that it wasn't you I needed to speak to. So I have paid a penalty becuse a break down of internal communication of your staff. Yet again just picking out parts of the story you wish to share. Just showing more how you try to look right rather than do the right thing. Zero integrity or ownership. And please learn to apply the English language. "free" means something for nothing, i.e no exchange of money. That's like me saying have my audi A3 for free, just send me 20 grand next month... Embarrassing

Fantastic experience: Been a member for around a month. Prior to RHC I was a member of a large national chain. I always thought the one I was at was pretty good - sure there was never quite enough cardio equipment at peak times and you couldn’t always do a planned workout due to a shortage of equipment - but this is just how gyms are, right? Right? Wrong. Rochester health club has everything. Many times over. And they keep getting more. And more. And more. Everything is clean, well maintained and there’s excellent variety. Prefer free weights - tonnes (literally) of free weights and benches and the like. Machines - loads of those too. Cardio - you’ll have a heart attack before using them all. Seriously - wow. And free PT every 6-8 weeks. And not the hard sell “free but upgrade” for the real deal. In fact I don’t even know if I can upgrade (I made it clear I like to train alone, so they probably used common sense to avoid rejection - but that’s frankly refreshing!). My only 1 criticism- the music is a bit loud. Either turn it down a notch or two, as the old man would say, or play some real workout music

Negative experience: I had a membership paid on a yearly basis of £500.00 all in for the year which renewed December 14th 2019 until the lock-down came in on 21st March 2020. Before the reopening after lock-down eased I realised that most of the things that i used at the gym were now not possible (boxing contact pads with other members, sparring, sauna and steam room) i contacted them to request the cancellation of the membership as the facilities had changed and I requested a refund of time unused. This was refused point blank on the grounds that they apparently don't offer refunds. I was offered to freeze my membership and then when questioned the owner stated that it is just the flu and things will be normal again soon. I pointed out that under consumer protection laws i am legally entitled to a refund, this prompted an outburst from the owner and he suggested he would give a refund and then stormed off swearing. Following the heated discussion i considered my side of things and wanting to remain as reasonable as possible decided in the short term to freeze the membership to see how quickly things would return to normal. As things have moved along and it has become clear that normality will not be here for the foreseeable future so i contacted the gym and instructed that i would in fact prefer the refund instead of just leaving the membership frozen for the next year or two until the things i use are available to use again. I even suggested that even though i had only used three months and six days that this could be rounded up to four months and if they charged me four months at £50.00 per month and refunded £300.00 i would consider this a reasonable resolution. A couple of days later i received a credit for £243.00? That's a £243.00 refund for 8 months and 24 days unused time and i have been charged £257.00 for 3 months and 6 days that i could use the gym under the terms i had signed up to. They changed my contract to a more expensive one that previously didn't even exist and costs £57.99 a month and charged me four months at this higher rate and for good measure added a £25.00 joining fee. The below is from the Gov.uk site, In some circumstances, due to lockdown laws, a contract cannot go ahead as agreed or at all, and is therefore ‘frustrated’. A contract will be frustrated as a matter of law if, due to no fault of the parties, something happens after the contract was entered into which means it can no longer be performed at all or performance would be radically different to what was agreed. As a result, the contract comes to an end and, where consumers have paid money in advance for services or goods that they have yet to receive, they will generally be entitled to obtain a refund. They will also not be required to make further payments. In the CMA’s view, for consumer contracts the above rights to a refund will usually apply even where the business says part of the payment is a non-refundable deposit or advance payment. This is because the contract will have been frustrated and terms which allow a business to provide no service but keep a consumer’s money (including deposits or advance payments) are likely to be unfair, and therefore unenforceable under Part 2 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Consumers can normally be offered credits, vouchers, re-booking or re-scheduling as an alternative to a refund, but they should not be misled or pressured into doing so. A refund should still be an option that is just as clearly and easily available. In particular, businesses should not give consumers the impression that they are not entitled to a cash refund where that is their legal right, and in the CMA’s view this would be likely to breach consumer protection law. When this was put to the management, I was advised that if i don't like it then i should take them to court. So anyone who is being offered a credit when you sign up next year you are legally entitled to a cash refund now, good luck getting it though from these greedy owners who think that the law doesn't apply to them and they can just make it up as they go along.

Positive experience: Great range of equipment. Never had to wait to use a machine. Pool is a good size and is saline rather than chlorinated. Changing rooms are clean and has a spacious communal area with 2 separate private changing areas (ladies). Really good range of classes to suit all. Parking is limited but never had a problem with it, even at busy times. You get allocated your own sanitizer bottle and cloth. Booking required in advance for use of pool, but not for the gym. Covid measures that have been put in place are working well and not had any problems with booking the time I've requested for swimming.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym, the Gym itself is laid out over two floors one being a mezzanine floor. Plenty of kit you never need to wait to use a piece of equipment. Training boxing ring looks great, but that as far a s it goes for me!. Pool area which includes spa, steam room and sauna are never packed and it is very relaxed. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Just a great place to get into shape.
