Fantastic experience: Large space, not over crowed no waiting for equipment. The spa was great with sauna and steam room. The ice cold plunge pool was very refreshing. Enjoyed the whole experience.

Negative experience: Sadly, it's now FAR too crowded to be enjoyable. At peak times it's difficult to get parked, almost always having to wait for cardio machines, queuing for the showers, queuing for the Centrifuge machine. The spa area has been completely packed recently. They've recently had to buy in additional lockers to cope with the additional demand, but obviously that doesn't address the issue of parking, showers and equipment etc. Good for revenue, but bad for customer experience

Positive experience: Despite the paucity of treadmills, I'm loathe to give the gym a bad review as the staff are great and there is plenty to do. However today I reluctantly cancelled my membership for one reason only: Not for the first time I was unable to park in any of the many bays designated to blue badge holders, as selfish able-bodied members parked their cars in all of these spaces. I drove straight home.

Positive experience: Your lucky if your deaf because they have THE WORST MUSIC EVER - Bring headphones. The younger staff behind the counter can be abit rude and disrespectful. The box 12 room stinks of rubber chemicals a lot of the time. And the lights when you pump free weights are blinding you in your eyes.

Fantastic experience: Having set up a home gym during lockdown, I’ve been reluctant to join a gym again. However, I’m so glad I have rejoined (was previously a member when it was fitness first). I work from home, so the cafe provides a very welcome hot desk area. All facilities are first class and the staff are helpful! My partner, our kids and I absolutely love it!

Positive experience: joined 2 weeks ago. vert clean, well equipped, friendly staff. I would like a dedicated cycle stand at the front so i can lock my bike up properly. also would like a calf raise machine in the gym. other than that, it's spot on.

Negative experience: 1st time to big box yesterday. I greeted the staff at 9.20pm and asked if they did a day pass. As I’m currently at a gym but would like to use the spa facilities. They charged me £15 per person to then tell me the pass is for all day but the spa is only open for 40 minutes. If I knew that before I purchased, I would have gone another day! However they got me to fill out a form but then left my details in plane sight on the desk with my name address and contact details for the whole hour so everyone could see. I should probably report you to GDPR. The 2 staff on the front desk didn’t have a clue. They did not explain where to go, how to use the lockers ect. The spa facilities were nice. But the ceiling of the male changing is full of mold Facilities are great Staff was shocking Would I used again ? For the spa, yes as it’s the only gym with all the facilities But be aware you may be queuing for the sauna and the hydro pool

Fantastic experience: On the pricer side compared to other gyms in the area, but so very worth it. Very clean, super friendly staff and the machines are all modern / new with great tech integration. Theres too much to go over in one review, so if you've been considering, go and ask for a tour, you won't regret it.

Fantastic experience: Left Kal in the town centre to go here and do not regret it one bit. The staff are really good, from the membership team, reception team and on the floor staff. Equipment is top notch. Atmosphere is really really good. Pool, sauna , cold water therapy bit is spot on. Changing rooms as well as the seating areas cannot be faulted at all. I hear people moan about the price not in the place but people who don’t go. If you go to Kal in town and pay the stupid parking charges and in a rolling contract then it’s exactly the same price to go here but with BETTER facilities and staff and no annoying kids in the gym 4-5pm, plus you can get a locker here and also a smile and greeted warmly than KAL. Great place 10/10

Positive experience: It’s one of the best gyms in huddersfield just too many kids coming at 7pm they should push the 8pm last entry like 5 or 6 hard to get any machines but one of the best gym in huddersfield best machines all new rquipment

Negative experience: Great gym when it first opened but 4 treadmills is appalling. Unfortunately decided not to renew as I can’t get on any machines or weights. Not enough equipment. Also very overpriced if you don’t use classes or pool.

Negative experience: Very disappointed, promised guest passes for months since it opened just like the cafe (which is still not open) and finally got some news today. After paying £60 a month, they then have the cheek to charge an additional £15 a month for two guest passes?!?!! The gym is average only barely worth the £60 for the sauna and cold plunge, if you don’t need them don’t waste your money. Very disappointing money first then customer's.

Fantastic experience: Best gym in huddersfield by a long way brilliant facilities something for everyone

Positive experience: It's a Good gym but certain equipment bit on the small side if your over 6ft 8 tall you'll find it a struggle to get on them. Staff are really nice and friendly and its a very big gym even when busy seems like it's not because of the size and Its shame they dont do day passes here car park is huge and free!!

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym with high tech and I love the climbing wall! The gym itself is kitted with some of the most high end equipment and it's very spacious. I go there regularly and it's a great place to excercise.

Fantastic experience: I was a member at this gym, had to cancel because of distance, unbelievable gym. staff are so welcoming. Best gym I've ever been to, i only wish there was one in Halifax.

Fantastic experience: The BigBox leisure facility is a private fitness centre with a wide range of gym equipment, fitness classes, a 25m swimming pool, climbing walls, jacuzzi, saunas, physiotherapy and a small restaurant. There is a ladies only gym, so those with any sensitivities can work out without the glare of the public. There are enough staff on duty to help out with questions, but there is no formal introduction. There are personal trainers at an additional cost for motivation and personalised fitness goals. As the facility is brand new, everything is clean and tidy. During busy periods, the wait for a particular machine can be 10 minutes or so, but usually, there is enough equipment for everyone to do their personal regime without interuptions. It's not the cheapest facility, but you do get what you pay for. See the website for pictures as It's not appropriate to take photos inside with the facility full of paying members.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic! Absolutely love this gym! It’s is equipped with state of the art gear and the classes provided are for all Abilities and Skills ; not to mention the staff at Big Box, are always available to help you or hear your concerns! Could not ask for more.Highly recommend it.

Fantastic experience: The team gym was amazing and the hydro pool is so good. There’s a sauna does teen gems the rock climbing the normal hydro pool is a women’s gym there changing rooms and it’s so fun there

Positive experience: Very spacious welcoming gym, my main gripe is the lack of treadmills in the ladies only gym (only 2!) and main gym (6). Even at quiet times there's a wait for the treadmills.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym. Especially the ladies on the reception who are friendly, helpful, pleasant and always greet you with a smile ( especially Amelia, Bethany and Sarah). That can really brighten up a person day. There a lot of people who come to the leisure centre for different reasons, it might be mental health etc and being greet warmly as you walk through the door can go a long , long way. As for gym it's absolutely fabulous. I find myself challenging myself with all the difference things this it has to offer ( especially the classes) Never went in a class before, but the 3 instructors I have Fiona, Katie and Sylvia are fantastic. Also the staff are very friendly and helpful , three I know by name in particular are Lev, Kay and Ellie...but the're all brilliant. As for the gym it's absolutely fabulous. I find my challenging myself with all the things it has to offer......love it!

Positive experience: Steam room does not provide enough steam like others TRU Gym etc despite numerous complaints

Negative experience: Issues with disabled access. Messaged the team on multiple occasions and advised someone would call me that day on 3 separate occasions yet no one has ever called me back.

Negative experience: Left with promises of equipment that has never arrived. No curling bars or straight barbells. Only one bar and one rope for triceps. Just seems like lots of excuses and topped off with one of the rudest members of staff (young girl with spots).

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this gym! As an active person who values good training facilities this has everything you could possibly want and more. Only one concern is how slippery the floor is near the pool and spa have a good pair of griping flip flops with you other than that, absolutely love it. So great to see the staff from my old gym as well. They are fabulous

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love the gym! This all occurred when me and my friend had a lovely warm welcome from Danny on one of the open days, and we had very little intention of joining due to location and work commitments. Danny who showed to have exceptional knowledge of the gym itself, sold it to us hence the move, and I couldn’t recommend his customer service enough, we probably wouldn’t have joined if it hadn’t been for him :) he always greets people with a smile and is extremely helpful on the gym floor. Love it!

Fantastic experience: Brilliant all around gym, top level equipment and deffo my happy place to be! . Good customer service as they listen to the members. Few things they need to fix is more music that helps you get in the zone such as catchy house music (not head banging) rather than pop songs that make you want to quit your workout and text your ex. They also need more lockers and benches in the male changing room. And could do with more bench press for chest…

Fantastic experience: This gym is something else. Hightec equipment, outstanding, knowledgeable, friendly staff. Beautiful, spacious changing areas, and it even has a lift for those who can't manage the stairs.Plenty off classes to choose from. Take a look. You will not be disappointed Even the cleaner took time to show me how to work the lockers. Nothing is too much trouble .Well done bigbox. ✔️

Fantastic experience: Great gym....probably the best gym I've been to. Still plenty to do in regard to being fully ready but all the main parts of the gym are open. The spa area is second to none. Also the box 12 area and bio circuit gym are something else. So happy to be at a great gym again. Just a few niggles here and there but it's to be expected for a brand new gym ️‍♂️

Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities throughout Couldn't be more pleased superb!!

Negative experience: On first impressions it looks like it’s going to be good, however, the staff are undertrained. They don’t know how to use the app for example, a simple request i’m sure, not very helpful when asked about the boxing room “there’s not really much to show you” a lack of enthusiasm. The cardio equipment faces a black wall, running indoors is depressing enough on as it is. Very little kit in regard to ropes and handles for the weights machines, no medicine balls, EZ bars or flat bars. The boxing room software glitches so the numbers and circuits don’t match up. Spa area still hasn’t opened. It’s very dark in the main gym, so much so it’s hard to see what size plates I’m putting on as the numbers are in black. The owner said he was going to populate teen inductions sessions as they kept being booked up, I logged in every half hour that night and nothing. So I’m still waiting to get my daughter in. I was told by two different staff members to just turn up and someone would do it. We arrived at 5am only to be told the teen gym opens at 8am which is not true and it doesn’t state that anywhere on the website and more to the point, what use is that, where are teenagers at 8am in the morning apart from getting ready for school. If you don’t know don’t be embarrassed and make something up, I’d rather be told you don’t know than be no lied to. I’m sure it will be a great place but there is a heck of a lot to iron out and as far as launches go, it still feels like it’s in the dock waiting to set off. 3,2,1…………….Huddersfield, we don’t have lift off.

Positive experience: Lacking in the cardio department, for such a big gym - there’s only 4 stair-masters and 6 treadmills. It’s a battle for a treadmill every morning and afternoon! I previously used Colne Valley leisure centre (a very small gym in comparison) and even they had 6 treadmills + 2 stairmasters, and it’s 1/4 of the size! Another 4/5 treadmills needed Overall though, a great facility and well worth the money. Just wish I didn’t have to wait 5/10 minutes every morning/afternoon for a treadmill to come free.

Fantastic experience: Joined the club recently, I live around a 20 minute drive. I find a lot of gym intimidating but I am enjoying goes each day. I have tried a class each day, the instructors each bring a different vibe and they are very good classes. They are pretty easy to book on the app but it gives no description of what the class style is in detail. The main gym does not have enough treadmills so sometimes I have to wait. The machines are so great! You can log in to the machine via your phone and I do a routine that is guided on the screen and the machine programmes the routine. Had to wait for a machine while a man just sat on it today texting in his work boots, but a little wait never hurt anyone. Used the pool today which was a lovely temperature. I want to use the bio circuit but it’s been fully booked for inductions. The changing rooms have large showers that aren’t the best but not bad. Workers walking around but not smiling or greeting apart from the lovely guy I met at the pool today. I am sure they are all just settling in though and things will get more friendlier. For the price I think this gym is great. I do with they provided towels. :)

Positive experience: Men’s changing rooms are very poorly thought out.. no facility to hang your clothes whilst changing??… plenty of seating space though … no machines to directly work on calf muscles ie calf raise machines as at other gyms

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym. The most modern equipment and genuinely NOT THAT BUSY because its so big. Could do with some tweaks more water stations, more free bars ropes etc none in the enitre gym (for such amazing equipment it's a little touch). However people are being so clinical on this gym because its so bloody good. I workout in a lot of gyms throughout the UK with work but this is unreal and to have this in Huddersfield of all places is absolutely fantastic. The tweaks will come, there is a lot of free space but this GYM is amazing and worth at least double any other gym in Hudds. Imagine having this and going to a gym like Trugym, madness. Keep up the great work guys

Fantastic experience: Brilliant! The gym has the most latest machines and it's all set up very nicely. You can also save your workout on the machines. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Love it !

Fantastic experience: Brand spanking new gym with a variety of state of the art equipment. The big box has a wide range of classes to suit everyone. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The inductions were very informative and relaxed and it's great for me to be able to drop my 12 year old son off at the teen gym and not have to worry whilst I workout in the main gym. I'm loving the wristband to swipe in and out of the gym and to be able to use it for my locker. The changing rooms are very spacious and are continuously being cleaned by the staff. I'm having no problem using the app to book classes and inductions, it's handy if you want to learn how to use the equipment you just scan the barcode with your phone on the machine and it will play a tutorial on your app which is pretty cool. The pool is nice and warm too. So far so good

Negative experience: lots of problems getting started had to download an app dosnt do anything

Fantastic experience: Just about ready to open, looks very good, machines are very up to date and allow you to keep an eye on all your training, plus weight. Also saves your settings on the machines for every visit. Looking forward to getting started. *Big Box has been open a few months now and have been really enjoying it. There are times when it is busy, but th turnover of customers seems quick, so never waiting long in a busy time for equipment. Pool, sauna and jacuzzi all clean. They are still developing some minor details, this week some signs appeared to offer best practice in the wet area for those unsure. Still waiting for coffee shop to open, but so far everything seems good and staff very pleasant and helpful.
