Positive experience: We took our Grandson here for swimming lessons. It was at 16:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. Both car parks were crammed full, with no available parking spaces, with a narrow entrance road and queues of cars trying to park. I naively thought that I could park on the road outside, but there was nowhere to park for hundreds of metres. During his lesson, there were also 3 other lesson groups, plus general lane swimming. Despite all of this, it was quiet, due to the special roofing, with no echos. The facilities seemed fine - snacks and drinks were available, as well as tables and chairs to sit at. There is also ample seating to watch the swimming lesson. The water temperature seemed fine, as I didn't see anyone looking cold.

Positive experience: Never had a problem when I go. Staff are nice. Center clean. Noticed in the ladies bathroom there's free sanitary products if you get caught out unexpectedly. Very helpful

Fantastic experience: I swim here regularly, 3 times a week. Girls at the reception always very friendly, pool is clean. Some days are busier than others which is expected. Never had any issues with changing rooms or shower facilities. Membership is great value for money in my opinion, especially since you get allocated a parking permit so you don't have to worry about paying for a ticket each time.

The facility is always maintained clean & tidy, well equipped and not over crowded at most of the morning hours that I have been. Personally I have only been availing the gym and special mention to trainer Karen who is very helpful and always willing to share training tips in the gym.

Positive experience: Clean and tidy. Smaller than big chain gyms. However has good gym equipment with what they do have. Pool is small but okay. Mostly the changing rooms are clean and tidy when they aren’t it’s the customers who can’t be bothered leaning it clean and tidy rather than the staff. Accessible disabled changing rooms. Buggy park room. Accessible entrance. Pool isn’t fully accessible but does have a set of steps like the ladder style that slowly go out into the pool at less of an angle than an actual ladder. Watch out for all the school swimming times though and swimming lessons etc which really take up a lot of time for public swims and it can be hard to fit a swim in around your schedule due to being so limited because of school use etc. staff are nice thoug.

Negative experience: The positives are it's a clean, big pool. The negatives are that they're not very child-friendly. They don't offer family sessions like other Places Leisure pools nearby, you can only book Just Swim. When we went to our session there were noodles right on the pool edge literally touching the water but when my daughter went to get one she was told by the lifeguard she's not allowed them. They also started setting up for the school session 30 minutes before our session was due to end, putting out lane dividers and telling us off for being in the middle of the pool while we were literally being herded by the incoming lane dividers (?) I felt so uncomfortable and unwelcomed by this point that my daughter and I left with still 20 minutes left to go of our booked session. I understand if just swim sessions are not allowed floatation devices but they really should put them away for sessions where they're not allowed. I also think it's a poor way to encourage children to swim if you're not offering family sessions where children can play and enjoy the water, instead we were just made to feel like an inconvenience the entire time. Of course you can book swimming lessons, but at £45 for the first month (£30pm+ joining fee) that's more than twice the price of a regular swim and is very unfeasible. Also a small gripe, but I was disappointed to find there were no towel/costume dryers in the changing rooms. Also the teaching pool is booked separately, but if it isn't in use by lessons, like it wasn't when we went, I think we should be allowed to use it.

Fantastic experience: I went to see my 2 year old grandson having his swimming lesson with his mum. The teacher was fantastic singing songs and teaching the children to have great fun in the water whilst developing their skills in the water. Lovely to see all the children enjoying themselves.

Fantastic experience: Modern swimming, gym and classes. Very clean and well maintained. Pool has a heated toddler pool with toys, the large pool is slightly cooler but is a very good size for swimmers who want to do lengths. The changing rooms are always well managed and clean.

Fantastic experience: I've been going here since I was a kid, but have recently joined the gym under a membership. The staff are all lovely, and will always try to help you when you need it. The facilities are always clean, (especially now covid has arrived) and are disabled friendly. There is a range of equipment with enough for several people to use at anyone time, even now, for you to do the kind of workout you're looking for. The pool is quite small compared to other lesuire centres by about a quarter to a third of the size of the pool that they used to have but still good to swim in. They also offer swim tags for members that tell you how long you have been swimming for, how many lengths you've done, and in which stroke you've been using, so you can keep an eye on what you're doing over your session and see how you've improved over time. The locker rooms have plenty of space to get changed or showered with the pool changing rooms being uni-sex and sperate sex for the gym changing rooms. They host a variety of classes and sports, such as spin classes and clubbercise to basketball and badminton. The carpark has plenty of space as well as bike racks for whether you want to drive or cycle there as well as easy access for those who walk. The main lobby has a modern look to it with vending machines that dispense snacks as well as cold or hot drinks. The memberships are fairly priced when you consider for £34pm you get access to all facilities, including classes, when you're more likely to end up pay more going to a gym and then go swimming later in the week. As well as this you get access to the other lesuire centres facilities in the area such as Ripley and Alfreton so if you travel around the area or just fancy a change, you're never too far from one. There is a sign up fee of £25 but if you're refered by someone who has a membership it is waived and you only have to pay the monthly fee. The memberships are on contract though unfortunately, so if you're not sure it's for you pay for some individual sessions first to get a feel for the place. The memberships do vary in price under certain requirements such as 16-18 memberships as well as for those who are receiving benefits. If you're only interested in one thing though they do offer cheaper memberships for just one facility like swimming only which usually drops the price by a fair amount. Positive experience: Big gripe is the people who park in the disabled bays. Dropping off etc is understandable but people who turn up for their gym fix and park in the bays are selfish.
