Negative experience: DO NOT BECOME A MEMBER. UNFAIR CONTRACT TERMS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE NO PARKING SPACES As a family of three we were initially really happy with the club, we were paying £270 a month for peak membership and found the service great for a few weeks- then things started to get really busy, we noticed equipment being out of service for long periods of times, equipment being broken and taking a while to be fixed. Considering the gym has so many members there isn’t a great deal of equipment to go around, so you find yourself waiting and waiting to get what you planned to do done. The car park is next level stressful! You go to the gym to de-stress but trying to park gave me so much stress daily! I expressed my concerns over this on a number of occasions but was told it’s too expensive for them to extend the car park- surely they should stop joining more members up then. They use a booking system for classes and kids club which sounds great but it’s constantly getting bugs - the fight to book your class 9 days in advance shouldn’t even be a concern. And if you have an emergency or a plan change and need to swap your class even in a weeks time you’ll get a warning, after 3 swaps or cancellations in a 30 day period your banned off the bookings for 7 days! This was impossible for us as a family of three- just one change left us banned on multiple occasions really frustrating. UNFAIR CONTRACT TERMS The membership is really 15 months long now 12. READ SMALL PRINT. SCAMMERS. currently in a dispute with a debt collecting company because we cancelled our membership following the protocol of 3 months notice before your contract renews…. But now they’re saying we needed to give 3 months notice AFTER our 12 months contract so could only cancel after 15 months basically. They are also disputing that my cancellation request was even received even though I sent the request through the David Lloyds app ( you cannot ever speak to a cancellation team member in club you need to request a call) so I did this on numerous occasions but we never got a call. I chased up my cancellation and got fobbed off everytime- it’s like a trap! It’s caused me so much stress. I wouldn’t mind but it’s not a £30 membership we’re talking here… £270 a month ! We have never stepped foot back into the club since our 12 months membership ended and now I’m being taken to court for over £1,000 of debt Which I have tried to resolve with the agency they passed my case on to. But basically 15 months is in your small print so no matter what- if your un happy, or in our case couldn’t access the classes because god forbid a busy working family’s plans changed once a month your banned. And if we did attend classes you got banned because you were late to a class due to no car parking spaces. It’s a vicious circle but do not join. They do not care if you’re happy or not they just want that hefty monthly payment for the next 15 months …. TERRIBLE POORLY RAN MONEY GRABBING SCAM

Negative experience: Booked a badminton session a week in advance and came in 30minutes before the session only to be told 40minutes later that the session won’t be running this week.

Positive experience: Been a member for many years and it's a good club - just shame they can never sort out the air conditioning in the gym and it gets very hot and sticky every year as soon as the weather warms up......and regular discussion point with other members there.

Positive experience: Good local club. The Spa facilities are not like Tier 1 clubs, but everything else is great, and spacious

Negative experience: The worst David Lloyds I’ve ever been to. Absolutely filthy, dirty nappies in the women’s changing rooms/shower floor, dirty make up pads, wipes, hair balls all over the floor, hot tub barely worked and had bits floating in it. I know it’s the Easter holidays but we all pay top ££ to access clean and respectable facilities - that’s not what what this club offers. Spoke to some of the local members and they said this is the better club out of the two, which is absolutely shocking. On top of the lack of cleanliness the facilities are old and battered, it needs a serious make over. Maybe if it wasn’t filthy and actually kept properly a make over wouldn’t be necessary.

Fantastic experience: I love this club, the facilities are fabulous, I joined for the swimming and actually look forward to going - this is unheard of for me as I’m so exercise averse. Huge thank you to the staff for helping me with the membership options and choices - especially Caroline who was great.

Positive experience: Expensive but no other gym can match the facilities of David Lloyd’s. If you have the money & can justify spending £100+ a month to keep fit, I’d recommend it!

Fantastic experience: Great cyclone class with Carolyn on Wednesday evening. Mix of anaerobic and interval training on different weeks is great and tests endurance to the limit!

Fantastic experience: I have always found DL chorley a really good experience from the gym, activities to the pool. I recently took swimmer improver lessons which was excellent. The members bar/club room is a great way to relax or have some food which is always excellent and good value.

Fantastic experience: We love this club as it offers so much for us and our child. The kids club is amazing and he loves going to all of the classes. The special entertainment is great too. There are regular activities like parties, pizza making, cookie decorating and the outdoor pool party. We’d highly recommend it.

Fantastic experience: David Lloyd Chorley is a phenomenal gym in all aspects. The facilities are clean and held to a high standard, the classes are well thought out and leagues ahead of anything you’d find at any other gym. There’s a community feeling making it easy to meet new and interesting people and lastly all the staff are so welcoming and are always willing to help. Big shoutout in particular to Sam from the clubroom who always displays a friendly attitude and knows my usual coffee order off by heart.

Fantastic experience: What a great club! Pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub are great for relaxing after a work out in the very clean, very new looking gym area! Love the sense of community with the monthly events like trivia and soft play for the kiddos. I’ve done a few Blaze classes and body pump so far and they are excellent! Getting me back into shape already! Clean and help staff as well! Excellent club!

Fantastic experience: Love the facilities at David Lloyd. The coaches and instructors are professional and motivate you to improve your fitness and wellbeing. The classes are well structured I particularly enjoy Spirit and Yoga. Recently taken up tennis and pickleball to improve cardio fitness, great fun. Always nice to relax with a good cup of coffee or tea in the club room too. Jill is especially helpful and always makes you feel welcome.

Fantastic experience: I visited the clubhouse once whilst visiting up north and I must say the 8 hour drive and the hours stuck in traffic were worth it, the food was superb and the chef (I think his name was Sam, he was an older looking, youngish, middle aged dude who looked like Noel Gallagher had partied a bit too hard but still managed to wake up early in the morning for a 50 mile run) was very friendly, accommodating and always had a smile on his face!

Fantastic experience: What a friendly & welcoming place with amazing facilities… I have to say “Sam” has to be the most accommodating Chef I have ever come across. His knife skills are incredible, and what he can do with an aubergine is mind blowing. I’m still struggling to walk as I speak. Not only is the bloke a ninja in the kitchen, I’ve heard he’s next in line for the role as James Bond’s stunt double! (Push bike scenes only) as he looks like a graying Henry Cavill! If I was you I would look into securing a lucrative deal to keep hold of him, maybe a pay rise or a pint of Guinness as a deal opener. All this might surprise you, but I promise I have in no way been approached or bribed to write this review. Looking forward to my return visit, when I can eventually walk again.

I have particular food needs and the chefs in the clubhouse always meet my needs sam is especially friendly and always changes meals to my request and never complains

Fantastic experience: Went especially for the food, as I heard they had a young and adventurous chef called Sam. Being a vegetarian Sam was very happy to accommodate my needs and came up with a banging meal. Despite his greying appearance (surely using grey hair dye going for the silver fox look, and boy does it work because he is so handsome), his culinary creations exceed expectations for someone so young. Very deserving of a pint of Guinness.

Positive experience: TheGood: Staff are great very helpful freindly and attentive. It's good for things like creche and kids clubs. The Creche staff made a huge difference with our kids, Alison and Nicola especially. The members app is really useful for booking the things you want. The food and coffee are decent quality. The bad: For the price of a membership it is a very dirty place. The toilets, club room, changing rooms and brand new gym are all dirty. It's a quick surface clean at best. Strong urine smells in the men's changing rooms. Stains on the floors of the tennis courts, dirt covered curtains. It doesn't seem that much is invested in regular cleaning and maintenance. Attention to detail at such a premium club is awful. Class availability is poor and popular classes are almost impossible to book. Pilates for example. The food menu is also quite expensive and staff struggle at peak times.
