Positive experience: Good gym unless you want to train legs. You can throw a blanket over the leg machine section, it’s like they want you to skip leg day. There’s tons of floor space to get extra equipment so no excuse.

Fantastic experience: In expensive, great equipment downside air con hardly on when needed.
Negative experience: A small gym and now, since other gyms have closed in the area, it is far too busy. It’s only just 6AM and every single bench, squat rack and cable machine is in use. Most of the cardio equipment is also in use so after making an effort to get up and go to the gym early, when it used to be a quiet period, you are faced with being unable to have a proper workout. It’s so bad today that I just gave up and left. You need to pause new memberships Pure gym. I’ll be looking elsewhere as it’s now impossible to have a decent workout even when you go at 5.30 AM. I’ve been using this gym for nearly 4 years but the recent influx of new members has ruined it.

Positive experience: I like the convenience of Pure Gym Cardiff bay. The location and opening hours. Really enjoy Morgan’s Sunday and Monday morning spin class. I have been going to them for roughly two years. Enjoy the consistency and challenge it brings. Having tried all the other classes, I think they could use some auditing to see what works, and Morgan’s is one to take note of. I haven’t been as consistent with the gym as of late due to the class changes and cancellations. I think it could really use with a mid week Wednesday morning spin that used to be a staple and has recently been removed. I think gyms need to remember that what the members need is consistency, as routine is so vital to progress. The changes and removal of classes is the only reason for the 3 stars. I wish there was more available in the mornings, as there was before. It had been working for almost 3 years so unsure as to the whole, if it’s not broken aspect.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant gym, love that it's 24/7. Staff are friendly, skilled and full of encouragement and energy. Classes are varied, fun and challenging but also adapted to suit individuals abilities. Staff are always ready to help and offer advice if needed. Highly recommend Stevens crazily energetic combat class and kaz/Morgan's fabulous circuits/spin for feel good vibes and personal development. As someone who struggles with being so unfit this has been the perfect environment to begin a journey. Keep up the awesome job guys x

Positive experience: So this gym out of 10 is a 6 based on a few reasons - not much machines. For example no hack squat, only 2 bench presses, 1 leg extension machine, 1 hamstring machine 1 seated press and so on. -popularity. Obviously it’s a commercial gym so anywhere between 4pm-8pm are the worst times, because of the few machines, there can be a huge wait. -(In my opinion the worst one) gym etiquette, yeah there are signs saying put the weights back, but holy Mary and Joseph, there’s 30 kg dumbbells in the 10s and vice Versa and it’s awful(picture down below); People on their phone for anywhere up to 5 minutes; re-racking weights in the incorrect manner; people super setting when there’s not much machines and a lot of people and lastly people not cleaning the equipment after use especially on a bench. Now I’ve mentioned the bad, let’s get on to the good. -Polite staff, ask for anything or even a spot they’re nice and will help you with anything within reason, -dumbbells, not much to say there’s a lot of dumbbells which is nice to see. -cardio, there’s a lot of CV equipment 2 nice platforms for deadlifts but I wish there were more but it’s a smallish gym so I understand that they would struggle to put any more. -beginner friendly, good if you want to start working out but if you have a few years under your belt I suggest a non commercial gym (like an old school powerlifting gym that not a lot of people know about) Personally, I would love a hack squat in this gym but I can’t just demand one lol. But what I would love is if the PTs in the gym heighten their awareness and spread the word of gym etiquette that would change its from a 3 star to a 4 maybe 5 star and from a 6/10 to an 8/10

Fantastic experience: Good gym with decent equipment and friendly staff. but like every gym there is a few pretenders sitting on machines on their phones all the time and that 1 person that asks if you're finished when you're mid lift leave your phones in the locker or car (unless its actually needed for emergencies or music ) and wait for someone to leave the equipment before asking if they are done posting on socials that you are there for months and you look and feel no different atall should make you realise you're wasting time and money

Negative experience: Bad air con, too busy, too few equipment. Unfortunately is the only cheap gym in the area with decent equipment selection
Hi Shahid, thank you for taking the time to leave this review, but I'm sorry to see it's two stars. We have recently made slight changes to the air con, looking at improving energy efficiency to both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. By law, we have a requirement to provide a certain amount of fresh air based on occupancy levels, and our ventilation system increases and decreases at different times throughout the day and night, making sure we meet these requirements and provide good air movement around the gyms. These levels are based on size of the gym, and occupancy levels, and are regularly monitored. On occasion, we can get faults on our ventilation and AC systems which is normal. When this happens, there is a process in place to ensure we arrange for our contractors to attend, investigate and resolve the faults and return the systems back to full working order within a timely manner. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. Our gyms are very popular and so can become busy especially at peak times, but this does fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day. To make the most of the space where possible, though, we are always looking to expand and improve our facilities. Fantastic experience: I've been thinking about why I like this most out of all the Cardiff PureGyms. Location is great for parking, and the gym is big enough that it rarely feels truly crowded, but I think the best part is that it's not one of those gyms that have massive windows for people to stare at you from the streets. This feels more private even when it's full, and I appreciate that.

Positive experience: Nice gym, but watch out for the dodgy looking parking attendants roaming outside ! Female cleaners always in men's toilets shouting on the phone on earpods... very unnerving and I couldn't use the shower. Not a male safe space.

Negative experience: I've decided to leave this gym after around 1 year of membership. Since January the gym has been overcrowded every weekday evening I've tried to attend. It seems to make no difference whether I arrive at 7pm or 9pm. In most gyms in Cardiff you will find plenty of space at 9pm. The toilets have never been the best, but the past couple of months have been worse and other areas of the gym have also been dirty. I have also noticed the accessibility lift has been out of service for a number of months. The sign says it is waiting for repairs but I'm not confident that it is high on the priority list as the rowing machines were moved in front of the lift a few weeks back, completely blocking access.

Positive experience: Great gym , good equipment and clean. Often see a cleaner everytime I go. Most people do put the weights back correctly but not all unfortunately. As a late gym goer theres never fighting for machines. There only one incident that put me off was a couple taking the mick at people working out which is enough for people to leave the gym overall. Fantastic experience: I love this gym! I’ve been a member for about 2 years and it’s the best gym I’ve ever been to. The staff are friendly, it always feels clean and welcoming, and the equipment/space is great, especially the functional area. With the help of one of their PTs, I learned to lift with a barbell here and it’s also the place where I got my first ever pull up! I’ve moved away from the area now, so I’ll miss this gym for sure. Negative experience: Disappointed by this gym. Used it 5 times in the month I had it (alongside another gym membership). I've been using gyms since I was a teen, and I've never experienced a gym like this before where *none* of the weights equipment works for my body dimensions besides the dumbbells and barbells. I was too short for the leg press, my arms were too short to bench, the benches were too high to hip thrust - the list goes on. Plus the gym feels constantly warm and muggy despite claiming to have aircon, the female toilets & showers have been dirty every time I've gone in, and despite claiming to have over 200 pieces of equipment it feels really ill equipped for a gym at its price. My other membership is at a gym in the city centre (which is cheaper!!!) And they have way more machines & the environment is nicer. Plus, I can actually use said machines. For reference, I'm 5'3 and weigh 60kg so I am petite but not extremely so. Disappointed overall, won't be renewing.

Negative experience: As of January 2023, gym is oversubscribed. It's so busy at peaks times that you don't have much option of what to do

Negative experience: Absolutely soulless … never music on. Sounds like a dead zone with weights being dropped and thrown about… not great …. Clean , decent equipment but lagging behind all the other gyms across the Uk…

Fantastic experience: One of my favourite PureGyms. Lots of equipment, everything felt new and it's very clean and tidy. The classes were brilliant and always busy no matter the time of day which makes a change from 1-2 people at other PureGyms I've visited. I loved Ivy's Pump and Rochelle's Cycle, great classes. Overall highly recommended!

Positive experience: Its a great gym, classes are excellent. It would be nice for the gym to run maintenance checks on the bikes once in a while as a lot of them are unusable

Fantastic experience: Non judgemental atmosphere, variety and quality of the equipment. The gym is always clean. The staff is polite and friendly. The plans are competitive in comparison to other 24/7 gyms. If anything, I know that it gets busy in the evening.

Positive experience: I joined a couple of weeks ago as my previous gym closed unexpectedly. I have to get used to different ways of working but initially it's strange not seeing staff walking around making sure members are happy and just being friendly. There doesn't appear to be a sense of community which my previous gym had and I miss. Also, and a big no from me, not a lot of members clean down after themselves. Considering the number of cleaning stations (which don't all work to be fair but is no excuse as there are plenty of them) there isn't much emphasis on being clean and considering others. I will continue to use PureGym for now as there isn't a suitable alternative in the area.

Negative experience: If it wasn't for the great range and value for money you get from the equipment at this gym I would have given PureGym a lower rating. Sadly outside of the actual gym facilities it's really lacking. This week alone I have visited the gym on multiple occasions and the premium membership flavoured water machine has been out of order (which is a major selling point of the premium membership) as well as the normal water dispenser on one occasion meaning there was no water available for anyone in the gym! This usually was a rare occurrence but for the last 2 months it feels like I've rarely seen the flavour water machine working. A real shame considering its the entire reason why I decided to upgrade my membership.

Positive experience: 2 floors of exercise equipment. Always clean inside. Big area for free weights and lots of exercise machines to use. Sanitising stations and hand gel machines are around the gym to use to keep yourself and others covid free

Fantastic experience: Great place to work out.and to say they have a fabulous staff would be an understatement! They are always gently pushing us to do better. Took my 73year old mum today and one of the staff Conner was amazing at showing equipment and all the safety measure in place for each equipment. I am hopeful that I can bring her in and get her to improve her health and fitness. Thanks to Conner who has been so patiently explaining to her. .10/10 PureGym ❤️

Positive experience: Very messy at 8pm Saturday night. Weights everywhere all over the floor. Dumbells weights just put back in the completely wrong paces. Plates on every piece of equipment even though it's not being used.

Positive experience: Came here as part of multi gym option whilst in Cardiff. Decent gym similar to other pure gyms. Could do with a bit more signage on how to enter and where stuff is. It's not one of the biggest and I couldn't find a decent mat space in there. But decent generally

Negative experience: Terrible music adverts every 30 seconds. Loads of kit but no one knows how to return their weights and it isn't policed well at all.

Fantastic experience: Two floor gym, changing rooms top floor, toilets tend to be broken, feels a bit small overall, but has everything you'd expect.
