Fantastic experience: Been a member now for just over a month and definitely one of the nicest gyms I've been to. Super quiet and never have to wait to use a machine as you don't get machine hoggers here. Staff are friendly and always willing to help.

Negative experience: Diabolical…just received a letter from dsl threatening court action….if I’d had a letter/email maybe could have sorted this out but I have incredible lawyers who will oversea this shambles…you can only bully people so much ….i would recommend you go anywhere else but here

Fantastic experience: We had the absolute pleasure of experiencing the Green gym to assist with our fitness goals. From the first communication with Andy, enquiring about the gym, communication was timely, pricing offered was very fair, every question answered thoroughly. The gym itself has all we needed, cardio and weight equipment more than plentiful and in perfect working order, the consistent cool temperature in the gym also very much appreciated. Shout out to Matt for his consistent welcoming friendliness and genuine desire to ensure all our needs were met visit after visit. If you're looking for a well equipped, fair priced, gym in Brighton with friendly helpful staff, look no further. Green gym is highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Great place never too busy

Negative experience: Currently in a dispute over 80 quid with these guys (well a debt collection agency they so kindly put me in touch with actually) due to a membership that I cancelled months ago. They neglected to just ask me for the money after I cancelled the direct debit, communication has been abysmal which you wouldn’t expect from a small local gym as they appear in their marketing. Make sure you read the small print because they hide behind that like there’s no tomorrow. I might as well have been having a conversation with an AI in trying to sort this out. Go with one of the more reputable 24 hour gyms, these guys don’t care about you.

Negative experience: Shocking experience, wouldn’t EVER recommend. Tell you a bunch of lies and then tell you they can’t help. False advertisement, unhelpful, nightmare to get into the gym. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Fantastic experience: Great gym experience, was actually not what was expecting. Not the busy clattering feel of your regular gym. Relaxed chilled, with a carpeted area (very very clean) community vibes, and also a laminated very clean area (which I would use in relaxed/more empty times for bboy training and slipping crawls ect. Quite a small intimate gym. Very nice in quiet time. Would like to go back.

Fantastic experience: I've been training at this place for over a year now and I have a few good things to say about it. It's always tidy, everyone is friendly and happy to help when I ask for a spot. It has a great range of equipment for any workout including a Raw Strength leg press; definitely a staple for lower body training. If you live in the local area this place will smash a pure gym / gym group as i've tried those and they're usually under-kept and charge more. If you like your late night lifts or early morning cardio a 24h gym might suit you but you'll miss out on the cleanliness and professionalism.

Fantastic experience: I tried this gym late last night with a friend. I'd never been to a gym before and expected the worst but was thoroughly surprised by how much I enjoyed it there. If I lived locally I would sign up long term however I will definitely visit this gym again.

Positive experience: Been coming here for 4 years now - Staff have always been welcoming and helpful, the PTs are knowledgeable and encouraging. Equipment is good quality and modern (I’ll always advocate for an extra squat rack though). Only request id make is a refurb of the changing area.

Negative experience: Update 10/04 got my debt collection/threat of legal action email! As someone who hasn't a job, and is mentally ill and struggles to even buy food I have no idea what to do. I am just a walking panic attack now. Not neurodivergent (adhd, autism) friendly at all. They cant freeze your membership anytime despite what it says on the website. You must give 10 days notice or you have to pay anyway. Their comment about payment queries taking up to 5-10 days to handle is elsewhere on the website. So very confusing for me! And with the fact I have trouble focusing, the information not being super clear and in one place (10 days requirement, £5 fee), its not neurodivergent friendly at all. The app hasnt worked for me more than a few times so I cant check my Ts and Cs personally. I signed up for 6 months in december and used the gym 6 or 7 times. The owner is I think pretending to be different teams of people, and is now instructing a debt recovery team because I cancelled my direct debit because it was trying to take payments after I requested to freeze, and I dont really understand this system of handling finances. They then told me to cancel my membership so I did, but it was a trap, and now my direct debit has been breached or something. So my credit rating has dropped and Im waiting on a debt collection agency. Such a great experience. Please read other 1* reviews and consider carefully if you can afford this kind of thing. The effect on my mental health has been sizable now, and its hard trying to deal with different teams when I am 99% sure it is the owner pretending to pass my problem around! He claims to have done everything to support me but all he has done is ignore the fact I struggle with these things, and send me into panic attacks etc about debt collections. Also one of the PTs randomly lied to me when I signed up and said there was no induction or anything, but you get a free PT session when you sign up. Its all quite weird and very unfriendly to neurodivergency. Please avoid if you have any trouble with these sorts of things, its not worth it and I wish I had never set foot in there. Also now i am liable for all the direct debits, including time i wouldnt be using the gym at all, and it seems a little harsh to charge for all the time I am not and never will be using the gym. Good money making scheme though, and the satisfaction of the added immense stress/panic attacks given to the person who owes must be worth the cost of instructing a debt collection company! Im in despair

Negative experience: Nice gym but very aggressive payment team, paid for a 3 month membership but was forced to pay for a 4th month as they wanted a 1 month notice period even though the website specifically said 3 month membership.

Negative experience: Shocking gym, hardly any machines and the cable machine was occupied by the same bloke for the two times I went in. Only go there if you have been banned from every other gym in Brighton or you just need to escape your wife and kids.

Fantastic experience: Been a very successful health and fitness journey. I've had a major improvement to health. And a two stone weight loss since mid February. Did have the personal trainer option, which assisted in back pain and joint pain. Has helped greatly with health issues.

Fantastic experience: The Greeen Gym is SO friendly and approachable I couldnt reccomend them enough. For 9 months it costs £19.99 and you get 1 free PT session when you sign up. All the PTs are really helpful so if they arent busy with a session they are happy to help you with the machines/advice anytime. I've even seen other gym users helping each other out because of the friendly atmosphere here. All ages/genders can feel safe and welcome there and as a first time gym member I have felt so calm and supported there

Negative experience: Overall experience here has been awful. At first I liked the gym as it was small however it soon became apparent how small and lacking in equipment thus I was never able to do the work out I wanted. Furthermore the toilets were gross. Trying to cancel my membership according to the contractual obligations has been difficult. Trying to give the 30 day notice was not possible due to the fact nobody EVER answers the phone. Moreover, emails are not responded to. FB msgs not replied to. I have since gotten a response via email due to a bad review I posted (to reach out a different way), that I have since deleted. However, I was greeted with a seemingly poor attitude. They also tried to argue some of my points (I’ve seen their attitude in other review responses). Due to their lack in correspondence, I deleted my direct debit regardless. Since, I have been threatened with the collections team. I’ve paid the fee to protect my credit however this is simply not good enough as I can’t be held accountable for their lack of communication.

Fantastic experience: Really friendly and welcoming spot with super helpful staff. Membership is affordable and the gym has a nice vibe.

Fantastic experience: Trained here today, it was very very good, the staff was very kind and you can have every type of training, they have many machines and every type of dumbell, i’ll come back here everytime i’ll need 2 train!

Fantastic experience: I was in Brighton for a week and needed a place to work out. The Green Gym next door was newly refurbished and was exactly what I was looking for. It was quieter than the larger, more corporate gyms which was lovely and had very helpful personal trainers. If you’re the kind that likes their workout space to be low key with a more select clientele then the Green Gym is for you. And their daily passes are really cheap, only £ 5!

Negative experience: Trying to cancel my gym membership has been such a hassle! The website doesn't work, and they never answer the phone.

Negative experience: So I went 3 times last year PT was great but wasn't really shown how to use equipment on my own and the floor has a dip so trip hazard no classes at all cheap but not worth it

Fantastic experience: Green Gym on St James’s Street is a super eco, super-friendly ‘home from home’ feeling gym! Generating its own electricity and encouraging a plastic/waste -free environment, it’s a far cry from the big anonymous faceless gyms pI’ve been to in the past. It reflects the community it serves and has inclusivity at the heart of its welcoming vibe. Good induction with can include if you need it a comprehensive fitness programme. If you prefer a less corporate /chain type environment then this gym is worth a try. PS Hygiene standards very good.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym, and the fact that you can access it at anytime of the day. It is a very comfortable environment for women. The diet tips sent by email and the exercise plans sent via email is excellent idea for you to use in the gym. I also had a few personal training sessions with their PT and those were on point too. I would definitely recommend this gym!

Positive experience: I subscribed for a 3 month trail when I was in Brighton for an exchange but I got charged for 6 more months even when the workers told me i wont get charged anymore…..very disappointing because the gym would be super nice

Fantastic experience: Joined the green gym when my Job brought me to Brighton. Its an affordable gym and has easy access .The Staff are very accommodating and i enjoyed the free sessions with the trainer at the begining . Unfortunatley they do not have branches else where.

Fantastic experience: Training at the Green Gym Group in St. James's St has been a great experience so far and couldn't be more happy about the results, the customer care, the atmosphere. I've trained in many gyms, including some expensive chains in Central London, but honestly I'm much more satisfied at the Green Gym Group. Starting as a beginner, I've completed 11 PT sessions with James Corrall. James is an expert at explaining what we're doing and have done an amazing job at keeping me motivated. Results are showing and honestly can't wait to book more. Overall, incredible value for money and one of the best investment of the year.

Fantastic experience: I joined this gym while I was living in Kemptown and I had such a welcoming experience as well as it being so close. The PT’s at this gym are so friendly and they offered me a free training session when I joined, I’ve always struggled to find a less intimidating gym but Green Gym made me feel really safe and built up my confidence, they have all the equipment you need and have a good space to workout. Overall had a great experience at this gym and would recommend to a friend.

Negative experience: Wouldn’t recommend. Facilities are very small, so if there’s more than 4 people attending, it’s already crammed. Paid for a few PT sessions back in Oct/Nov. and I am still waiting for the exercises sets to be sent to me so I could’ve created my schedule to reach my goals. Also, despite the DD guarantee details, you have to request cancellation with 30 days in advance, if not they will still charge you an extra fee, which again, considering the DD garantee states we can cancel at any time, sounds very dubious. Not happy overall as this is a green gym that produces their own energy, there’s no justification for the fees to be that high, let alone to be charging customers to cancel when they haven’t attended in months, considering the facilities they have or the services they provide.

Negative experience: Join this gym at your peril! As another has previously stated it is a nightmare to cancel with this Gym! Me and my wife both emailed to cancel our membership, thankfully mine was cancelled (maybe because I am corporate I don't know) but my wife's wasn't after they tried to offer a "deal". I'm sorry but if someone is confirming their cancellation you don't offer them a deal and then continue to charge anyway. This was back in September when we said we want to cancel once October was paid. Then in December got a message from Harlands to pay £25 for a missed payment. Again she emailed and eventually it was left that the membership was cancelled and fee waived. Fast forward to now, February 2022 and they still haven't cancelled and are now demanding we pay Harlands £115!! These guys are a complete scam and even when they say they have cancelled your membership apparently they don't and now claim she didn't tell them directly. Thankfully we kept all email correspondence with them to take this further if needed as the way they "resolve" issues is an absolute joke. You guys need to sort it out and stop scamming people or making them jump through hoops to cancel their memberships, I wish we had never joined and given these con artitst our money.

Negative experience: I have cancelled my membership but they wanted to froze it just in case if l change my mind in the future, but as they know my account details been taking 24.95 per month for unattended gym membership! It was saying Hardlands on my bank account and didn't sure what is that for! They are unprofessional! Even after you cancelled your account they keep taking your money without letting you know directly from your bank account! SCAMMERS!!

Negative experience: A dingy gym with no decline bench and no shoulder press machine. After 9pm there are no staff there. WiFi code changes frequently but isn't written anywhere, have to ask the staff for it. Lights go off automatically at 10pm. The worst gym I've ever used outside of the 3rd world

Absolutely love their green energy solutions with the constant update of the positive impact the gym itself is having like how much energy it has produced just by using their machines or how much petrol it saved!

Fantastic experience: I am on holiday here in Brighton and wanted to find a nice gym to use whilst being here. The Green Gym Group is exactly that. It has a lovely atmosphere and I felt welcomed as soon as I walked through the door. Very friendly, great equipment and just an all round great atmosphere to work out in. So much better than the big box gyms where you walk in and no one speaks to you. Loved it !!!

Fantastic experience: Such a lovely place. As much as I love how not over-subscribed it is, I would love more people to know and enjoy it as the place deserves it! The gym is always very clean and although seems small there is always space and is well equipped. Love the idea of sustainable and eco-friendly gym. Everything from using kinetic energy from equipment to light a bulb to a light that turn on and off in changing room. Bring your reusable bottle and enjoy fact that you staying healthy doesn't hurt the planet! The subscription is very low for how central the place is and long hours its open. The stuff working there is always so welcoming and happy to help, the instructors on site are wonderful people, and it's nice to see them enjoying the place they work in! I absolutely love how positive people are there. No judgement at all, no matter where you are on your journey you will feel accommodated for. Coming here for the first time I was stressed that I am out of shape, not exercised for years and with lockdowns I was very unhappy with myself. Not only team here is so body-positive, they also work hard on making everyone feel that this gym is a safe space where you work not only for your body but also mental health. Keep up amazing work guys!

Fantastic experience: My partner and I recently joined this gym. It's a brilliant gym, clean and friendly. The best part is that all the power you generate goes back into the grid as renewable energy. Plus it's probably a lot cheaper than you suspect. Obviously I want it to grow because it's a fantastic business however, one of the other reasons were enjoying it so much right now is because it's quiet too.

Positive experience: Equipment in good condition and well maintained, the facilties has equipment to have a full 100% workout. Nice vibe.

Fantastic experience: Went with my brother during a flying visit to Brighton. Pretty much my perfect gym, super friendly and non judgemental. For a small gym it is very well equipped, no battling for equipment. Will hopefully visit again in the future!

Fantastic experience: After a long break away from the gym, Green gym has been the best introduction back! It's a relatively small gym, but everything you could need is there. It's also always quiet, I've never had to queue for any piece of equipment before! As some of the other reviewers have said, there is absolutely no pressure at this gym. It's not a typical "meat head gym", where you can feel conscious about what you're doing and feeling judged - oh no, none of that at all! If you want to get fit, and hit your fitness goals without having to queue for equipment, this is the place to go!

Fantastic experience: As a touring musician I am constantly searching for gyms in cities and towns I’ve never been. This gym is exactly what I hope to find. Very approachable, friendly owner, concise amount of equipment (everything I needed). If I’m ever in town again you know where I’ll be!
