Fantastic experience: Good place for workouts.

Fantastic experience: Super friendly for beginners and regulars, the staff are always helpful and have great advice for everything, the only time its overwhelming busy is when the classes are on so if you're going during them times I'd deffo take headphones.

Fantastic experience: I get to work out in a way that suits me and at times that suit my lifestyle. There is no judgement and there is a very open inclusive atmosphere.

Positive experience: This PureGym is good, with plenty of variety for various exercises and abilities. They have daily fitness classes for all to enjoy. The place is always generally clean and tidy. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the majority of the time it's busy and you can wait ages for equipment as some are constantly on their phone, but I suppose this happens at most gyms now.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, really well looked after. The people that go are very courteous and leave the gym in a reasonable state. Good mix of equipment from free weights with plenty squat racks, benches, dumbbells (2-50kg in 2kg increments with plenty 'duplicate' dumbbells at the lower weights), barbells, bumper and regular plates, kettlebells and medicine balls; and machines from various cable and plate loaded machines alongside plenty of cardio equipment. The lockers are relatively clean and looked after, although the showers can sometimes be hit or miss so might be good to bring shower shoes if you plan to use these

Fantastic experience: I'm a regular at PureGym in Durham, and it's undoubtedly one of the superior branches I've frequented. Even during peak hours, there's no shortage of equipment, though I do miss certain machines that other venues offer. I haven't had much interaction with the staff, so I can't speak to their service. However, the gym's cleanliness is evident, suggesting a commendable job by the maintenance team. For those looking to purchase protein supplements, there are conveniently located stores nearby, like Sainsbury's, which offer them at more reasonable prices compared to the gym's vending machine.

Fantastic experience: Can't beat it on price and equipment, busy at peak times 5pm to 7pm but still manage to use everything I want to, absolutely fabulous value for money

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Good amount of exercise machines, rarely busy, easy to get in and out, great products in the vending machines, friendly staff and other people using the gym. Great gym and I really recommend it compared to other gyms such as the one in Durham (Freemans quay), which I feel isn't as good as this one.

Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities and clean!

Positive experience: I've been coming here now for just under three months.... It's okay, plenty of squat racks and benches. There are a lot of messy customers who don't have a clue on how to put weights away and will sometimes leave their drinks laying about and forget about them. I once saw the same leaking red bull can for a total of 2 days. Good weight section and plenty of cardio machines and a good matted area. There seems to be a good system in place for classes and when the classes are on better music is played as the main gym music is terrible. I don't think anyone is going to be winning any competitions or getting into that mental mindset lifting Dua Lipa. Toilets and showers are kept nice and clean I have witnessed good relations with gym staff and clients their PTing. But..... I have found the staff to be slightly unwelcoming. I have never been greeted in all my 30+ visits. I am used to more family run gyms and it's obvious pure gym is about the sausage factory mentality. To them I am just another sausage passing through on the sausage conveyor belt. This is an average man's gym, there are a few blue tickers walking about but that comes with every gym. Despite some of my rants it is a good gym, I have come in and had a good work outs pretty much every session. *I think people in crocs should be banned and socks and sandels should be banned and the people wearing them should be questioned "why are you wearing them"

Hayley and Aaron were incredibly patient and kind. I've been to other PureGyms and this one is very clean and well-kept. The yoga class was brilliant too! The best PureGym that I've been to. Positive experience: Excellent staff first time there the lad a spoke to had a class in 5 min and still give me the run down and offered to help when he was done with his class but what's the crack with parking near the gym with a hour stay

Positive experience: I do like this place but I get frustrated, plenty of free equipment this morning but I decided to shower . Now I'm positive they have lowered the temp of the water and dropped the timing on the flow. All that makes me do it have to press the button more . And since I last had a work with the cleaner ( she sprayed every shower cubicle with strong cleaning fluid but never put a cleaning in progress warning out ,I went in ,she then told me if I got burnt by the fluid it was my own fault , I mention there should be a warning come .but she insisted it was my fault ) sorry I digress :) ) there is alway a cleaning in progress cone even when there is no cleaning in progress dose this mean I should never go in the shower ever ... ;). Anyway I still like the place even though I can maybe just sneak infor a cold short shower . Oh. By the way the hair dryers are awesome..

Fantastic experience: A little bit too good for its own good as its almost always busy which can get annoying. For the love of God get some proper lat pull-down bars not made of slippy rubber !

Negative experience: Although the price is great! The gym is well under-equipped. Random strangers sneak in and staff dont care. Staff often don't bother with regular upkeep like toilet paper checks, cleaning the kit, restacking the kit, lubricating machines and door hinges (males bath is ridiculously loud! And most staff aren't even friendly. They will just ignore you and have a disinterest in taking to you. At least that's how I feel given my autism... Then some of them just give me dirty looks!

Fantastic experience: Joined PureGym at the Arnison Centre in November. I go about three times a week, sometimes more . It’s a great experience in great surroundings. All of the staff are really friendly and help with any questions about training and keeping fit. All in all a great experience going there

Positive experience: I have been going to this gym since it opened in October. Plenty of weights equipment both free weights and machines. Good amount of cardio equipment too only thing is there's only 3 upright bikes and 4 rowers. This hasn't been a major issue so far but I am an envisage this changing in the coming weeks. The biggest gripe I have is that when it first opened there was stations with cleaning materials to wipe down machines after you'd finished these have disappeared and bearing in mind the short amount of time it's been open the showers are already looking tired and could do with more regular deep cleaning.

Negative experience: Too big and soulless. Too many machines and not enough loose weights. I probably had the shortest membership. If I could have had a tour before signing up I would have but you need to join to get an entry code‍♂️

Fantastic experience: Great place with plenty of equipment. Showers on hand but no equipment cleaning materials. They need a cleaning station up and down stairs. Other than that I'm very happy

Negative experience: Recently got back to the gym after coming home from the holidays and yes the speakers for the classes, noise levels in the gym and music are still loud and quite crowded but I have also noticed that the staff don't seem very welcoming too, they seem to greet some people especially those in classes or getting trained, other's like me who aren't in either just get looked and turned away, only one time I was welcomed was when I first arrived just before the gym officially opened and more people came and now no staff even say hello, they seem to keep a distance with the public too and yes the one at Maiden Castle, we did have some issues especially with the letting my mum in the gym but the staff there seemed to talk to people whether they were asking for help or general talk with the staff, at least the staff there were talking to the public at that gym and yes the gym over there is small but comparing those staff to the one's at Arnison Centre, I prefer those staff rather than the one's at PureGym, quite disappointing to be honest, nothing much has changed in the gym too only equipment's getting moved around and at the back of the gym, it normally get's quite crowded and people having to wait for a free bench and near the front there are way too many treadmill's, less cycling and would prefer if some weights or something were moved either upstairs or near the front. Another thing is the cycling one's that are upstair's, if I need to go to a toilet or get a drink and I pause it, the machine doesn't pause and the number or time just goes down which is annoying other than that, I think gym is ok, can be improved too especially the loudness of music especially in the class, however in the main gym it is getting quieter which is nice but the class speaker's and music are so loud that it is quite hard to concentrate.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic facility - rarely busy at the moment (waiting for the New Year crowd). Bargain for a well fitted out clean gym. Weight droppers, cross fitters and steroid users need not apply

Positive experience: Still no confirmed date. When you state opening soon you should really give a round about Time frame and if things change just update. This comes across misleading. So, if people sign up and you take one payment then the next a month after it's open. What if it doesn't open for another 4 or 5 month, how long would their joinging offer stand for. 12 month from opening date or 12 month from joining? X

Negative experience: I signed up to this gym in May but here we are in the middle of August and still not open and no communication from Puregym as to what is going on? I look forward to a patronising incoherent reply as per previous comments.

Negative experience: Opening soon is a bit of a lie, unless they have miracle builders as it is far from finished. No fitting, no flooring, building supplies all over inside. Photo has been taken. Ridiculous. 3 months minimum. More likely 2023 my guess.

Fantastic experience: I love pure gym. Really excited one is opening up locally in Durham, but would really love an ETA for when it's opening. I don't want to join if it will be another few months.

Negative experience: Why no opening date. Youre Happy to take 33 quid sign up money but wont give an opening date. Bit ridiculous
