Positive experience: Lovely courts and good facilities etc. - bit pricey for me tho and lots of sand and you'll graze yourself pretty easily - not played indoors or on the grass/clay yet tho!

Negative experience: Played Padel tennis for one hour. Was unaware of the need to pay for parking and received a £60 fine. The Northern were unable to remove this fine. Unacceptable.

Negative experience: Only been twice and both been poor Seems like every opportunity they can they put in an extra charge Paddle not included, ended up costing £65 for an hour between 4 people £10 to rent a racquet for an hour on a concrete court with plants growing out of it that's not been sweeper since it was opened in 1881

Fantastic experience: Great squash facilities and the perfect venue for several racket sports. The club includes some of the best facilities in the north west for playing tennis, squash, racketball, and padel. There is also a gym and racket shop onsite. . The lawnroom provides a good range of food and drink options and some really call tennis nostalgia. Both pool and darts are available in the main bar + outdoor seating. . If I still lived in south Manchester I'd join the Northern.

Fantastic experience: The best club in the North! The newly surfaced tennis courts are excellent. Even better are the grass courts in the summer. The padel courts are excellent, whilst also having a roof to protect you from the conditions. They have indoor and grass tennis courts, squash and a gym. The coaching on offer is superb!

Fantastic experience: As a tennis coach the facilities here are second to none ... all surfaces of courts from grass to clay plus all weather plus indoor courts . investment in paddle courts also available plus coaching in this area as well. Main stream Gym with high end equipment and trainers . A superb bar area with comfortable seating and patio area for drinks/ food , can also cater for functions such as Birthdays / children's parties with DJ entertainment. The Northern is a superb place for all things sport plus much more... Great staff and well managed. 5 stars all day long ..

Fantastic experience: My son and his best friend go to the Northern for tennis lessons. They absolutely enjoy the session, and the coaches have been amazing. Lovely place to hang around, especially the cafe. Recommend this place

Negative experience: The membership includes not a lot really, padel courts, not included. Indoor courts not included. So basic gym and wet courts in Winter.

Negative experience: Very overrated place. Synthetic tennis courts are awful. No international Grand Slam or tour-level competition that I am aware of played on such a surface. Tennis games have a really fake feel to them. Not worth your time or money.

Fantastic experience: The courts are quite well cared. There might be a downside in the winter on the availability of courts as there are only 3 indoor courts. Facilities are good, including the bar restaurant, gym and squash courts.

Negative experience: Terrible Management. NEVER try and cancel your membership in person as they don't proceed with it, still charge you (until you finally notice) and when you explain the situation they have their condescending replies ready backed up with their scam like responses saying you have no written evidence, although funnily they forget to mention that in person.

Negative experience: Your beef burger patties are very poor quality, they are so bad they are inedible, rather than serving a double beef burger can you please just serve a single and make them excellent quality? I would like to bring my family for a meal and a drink, please do let me know if you change so I can change this review to hopefully a five star, thanks.

Fantastic experience: Really nice tennis and squash club with a small but furbished gym facility. The pub area is really good if you are watching a football game or just drinking a pint with a few friends. The staff is extremely nice and quick!

Friendly dogs on a lead also welcome to stay for when eating. Can also be booked for parties and dinners. Excellent breakfast menu with v tasty veg option. Covered patio area with tennis or football coverage.

Fantastic experience: Visited for a junior squash tornament. It was really well organised and liked the fact the kids did the scorning.

Positive experience: Very well organised for the tennis tournament. The segregation of members and non members during competition week is awful, especially when the weather is wet. It was terrible to see ticket holders herded into a single tent packed like sardines while members relaxed in a large bar and restaurant is not acceptable in this day.

Positive experience: My only complaint is that they are coaches who creat quality tournaments in the first place,and you guys ought to celebrate coaches attending tournaments,instead of kicking one out due to be a refugee coach lacking ticket fee.

Fantastic experience: Liz and Rick excellent for cycling and gym. Andy the Tennis coach is very good. The yoga classes are excellent stretchy after sports. Quiet cafe lounge ideal for my business meetings.

Positive experience: I officiated as an umpire at a recent international professional tennis tournament at The Northern, on Palatine Road and found the people most courteous and friendly. Squash is also played at this venue.
