Positive experience: My daughter had fun here for her 12th birthday party although I would say that it seemed a little more chaotic and less well organised than previous parties I have been to here. Didn’t feel as if there was a massive focus on health and safety and at the end run one of the children had cut their legs. The first aid box was almost empty of suitable plasters… The children are welcomed okay although no one sent us an email before the event telling us that the children needed to have padded gloves to wear so that would have been helpful and then once the RingGo part of the party was finished there was no one to show us to our party room or explain anything to us. So there’s an element of service missing here.

Positive experience: Overall I had a positive experience, the staff are friendly and professional. Lucy my instructor was kind, considerate and supportive. Only issue I had was my bindings on my left ski, which had a slight fault, this led to my ski boots often becoming disconnected from the ski. The setup is great and is a good place to learn how to ski. Thanks

Fantastic experience: Booked a private lesson for my 4 year old to get him used to boots and skis before a first ski holiday. The instructor was great, got him engaged, kept him engaged and was teaching from walking in skis to basic snowplow within an hour. The most important part was my son came away having enjoyed it completely and excited about trying it on real snow…

Fantastic experience: We have recently used Oakwood for our daughter to have some private ski lessons (with her friend) They have had 2 lessons now and the staff have been absolutely brilliant. The staff sorting their equipment, the instructors and the staff in the cafe have all been friendly and professional. I would recommend highly.

Will, Chris and Georgina were fantastic ski teachers and very patient! Bella in the cafe was lovely and so helpful, the food and drinks were really superb. We will definitely be back!

Staff are very helpful and friendly, the classes are great and good value for money and the restaurant is just incredible! I'll definitely be booking my next event here. My daughter also had a ski lesson and the instructor was so fantastic with her - really kind and supportive.

Positive experience: It was really fun I went up on the treetops and it was much better than go ape and the equipment wasn’t heavy

Fantastic experience: I love this place!! The staff are incredible and always available to help when needed. The new owners are making such amazing improvements and I cannot wait for my next lunch at The Terrace Bar once the reburishments have been completed :D Cannot recommend this place enough!

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for many years and it is the first time that I am seeing changes happening in the club. I can say that I am happy with the new management, and I believe that the club is taking a new direction. With the new changes we can see that what is coming will be very good. I hope the parking is on the renovation list.

Negative experience: As a gym it is frankly a joke how they will charge around £70 per month for a dingy, unclean, poorly equipped gym. There has been the same spot of bird poo on the window upstairs for the 2 years I have been here. The gym has not even got the bare minimum in terms of equipment. Reception are lovely until you have any slight issue or would like to freeze your membership, they will not give you anything back or help you. Primarily it is a seriously rubbish gym, poor facilities and amenities for the price. Go anywhere else and you will be better off.

Fantastic experience: Having never skied before, I had a private lesson with Sam. He was very professional and I had a great time in my hour there. He allowed me to take it at my one pace and id definitely recommend him to any beginners

Fantastic experience: We booked a sledging and mini ringo party for 6 and 7 year olds. Everyone had a blast and was buzzing at the end. It was a really enjoyable party! There was a viewing platform, incase parents wanted to watch and all the kids received a short safety briefing and got given helmets. As the host I was slightly worried about the “waivers” but soon felt relaxed once I saw the Sandown Sports team at work. I would suggest bringing water with you for the party activity as the kids got quite thirsty going up and down the slope. There was a nice touch at the end of the party, the birthday child was put in the middle of the ringo rings and they were pushed down as a group whilst singing happy birthday. The tavern staff met us at the slopes to walk us to our party room. The large pizzas were served quickly and were really tasty. The party room had all the decorations already in place, we just needed to bring a cake! The kids loved it and from a parent perspective everything was catered for apart from a cake! It was a very memorable day!

Fantastic experience: Both my kids just completed a two day group beginner course here for 11-16 year olds in preparation for a school skiing trip. The instructor, Ben, was excellent, keeping the kids positive and focused and providing the help needed for them to make really good sustained progress; far more than I expected! Overall an excellent experience that represented very good value for money. Many thanks!

Fantastic experience: Excellent ski school with brilliant instructors. Following a 10 week course with primary school, son is currently doing Autumn term Saturday Ski School before a skiing trip in February. Have also signed up for another term beginning in January till Easter! We have found instructors Chris, Tom and Connor exceptionally good with the beginners and young children - encouraging, supportive and motivating. While, Chris, Ben and Geoff are excellent with the more experienced skiers on the main slope teaching technique. Sophie, Hayley and other support staff are great with any queries, also the new online booking systems is easy to use. All the staff are friendly, professional and welcoming. Great for birthday parties and good restaurant/cafe, plus Skywalk experience. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I booked a Ringo kids party with food afterwards on a Sunday morning. The organisation went well, they responded quickly to the food ordering and concerns about allergies, was informed all the way and that they changed the management. On the day of the party, it was sunny, the kids had a lot of fun on the slopes and us adults were chilling on the Terrace with coffees etc, it felt like we were on holiday. The kids enjoyed their pizza and cake (one of the places you can have a cake with candles, most indoor places now allow only without, also you can leave the cake before the party in their chill room). The staff was very helpful and nice, highly recommend it!

Fantastic experience: We have been using Sandown Ski for weekly lessons for both our kids for 8 years and tuition is excellent. The cafe is also great.

Fantastic experience: Spinning I am not a cyclist and always thought that spinning was not for me as it appeared to be very strenuous and difficult. As a runner I had a knee problem and was not allowed to run. The consultant said that spinning would be very good to help build up the muscles above and below the knee as well as building up stamina. It has really helped a lot and meant that I could avoid having another steroid injection. It's a pity that some of the spinning classes are not very full which I feel is due to the preconceptions as outlined above. You can go at your own pace and you don’t have to push yourselves as hard as the seasoned cyclists. The person who takes us is Chris who is very good and explains what you need to do and why, he also includes important warm down exercises afterwards.

Positive experience: Great activities really well managed and excellent team of helpers. Bar could do with a wider selection of food and portions could be bigger. Trust me you will work up an appetite.

Fantastic experience: Had a ringo & treetop party for 9yr old they loved it, great fun, great friendly staff, clean throughout and has a nice bar/cafe for the adults, would differently go back, loved ringo's but did get tired last 10min keep climbing back up but all said would do again, tree tops they loved all nervous but loved it all felt safe, check all kids taller then 1. 3 metres ! Picnic area all clean and under cover too which had for whole 3 hours. Great party happy kids!

Positive experience: Great for skiing practice and enough of a slope to give an hour or so parallel work. Friendly and helpful staff, who suggested that the hire skis that one of the party was using needed waxing,to which they provided a large can.

Positive experience: Not the biggest artificial ski slope, but with a 90degree bend does keep you on your toes. Also a smaller beginners slope on other side, so great for lessons from beginners to thise wanting to progress as well as kids wanting to have fun. Towering above the slopes is a tree tops adventure circuit and the sports club itself has ample facilities, with gym, squash courts and fitness/spinning rooms. The bar area is a cosy place to socialise and a has a lovely view over the ski slope and horse racing circuit and into the distance over london.

Positive experience: At Sandown Sports you have a choice of many outdoor and indoor activities. This includes dry Skiing and Skywalk rope obstacle courses (they have two equally challenging courses). Most activities are suitable for all ages and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Great fun for kids outdoors. The ski slopes are fun. The cabins for the birthday party were well heat on a cold day and cosy ( not very big though ). The caffee was very noisy because was full of kids ( as I mentioned it was a cold day ) but after all it is a place for kids , so... grin and bear it. The view from the terrace was amazing. Would definitely go again.

Fantastic experience: Cannot praise Liz and all the staff highly enough, nothing was too much trouble, and they helped my autistic child on the sky walk by explaining each section and helped him do the bits he was scared of, he finished with a massive sense of achievement and is so proud of himself, not stopped talking about it.

Fantastic experience: The gym at Sandown was fully refurbished in January 2018, and is fully kitted out with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment. Using their Wellness system, you are able to monitor your progress in and out of the gym, as well as help tailor your fitness programme to suit you. They have a whole range of equipment, including Kinesis Cable machines, a Skill Mill, a Ski Erg and an Assault Bike. Selected machines have screens where you can choose a variety of apps to use whilst you exercise. They also have a full suite of resistance training equipment and a well-styled free weights room with Olympic weights.They house Esher’s first and only dedicated Functional Fitness Studio. Their team of personal trainers will use their extensive knowledge to create a fitness experience that can offer sound advice along with functional equipment, helping clients of all ages to improve their fitness and general well-being, and even putting the fun back into fitness!

Fantastic experience: I have been using the dry ski slopes, absolutely wonderful instructors, Cat, Sophie and Seb, took me from a complete novice and are teaching me to Ski. The instructors are very patient and nothing is too much bother for them. I will be using it lots over the coming years and eagerly waiting for my next lesson. I would highly recommend this place to any person. Just brilliant.

Fantastic experience: Been coming to sandown gym on and off for last 20 years. Recently started back at the gym using a brilliant personal trainer Ben Stork who has helped me regain my fitness and enthusiasm to train. Sandown has recently undergone a full refurbishment of the gym with fantastic new equipment and functional free weights area. Particularly like the skill running machine and ski erg. Sandown is a very friendly gym, squash health club with added benefits of a dry ski slope and family high tree skywalk tree top course.

Positive experience: Difficult to locate, as different signs pint to different directions before turning in, however there is another car park closer to the center, (have to go up a big hill) which we didn't know. Went dry-slope skiing with the family. This was great as we had two young instructors who focused solely on us. However certain members of my family was not enjoying the experience, due to her asthma and weak knees (doesn't like skiing in general) - so wanted to sit out - however the instructors kept pushing my family member to do things that she wasn't entirely ready to do. This is understandable as obviously we would be wasting our money, and some people may be 'in need' of that motivational push, however it was not appreciated here. However it was a great experience in general to do something different, and learn the words and skills needed for skiing. Great staff and great for a day out.

Fantastic experience: Great Sports Club! I joined around a year ago with a work colleague and we both really enjoy all the facilities. The staff are friendly, equipment top class and the bar is great value. I would recommend.

Positive experience: I found the phone was sometimes unanswered and messages not returned, so I initially did not have a good impression. However, having now done an introductory and a private course through them, I can definitely recommend them for the rank beginner (as I am). On arrival, I found reception efficient and the issuing and checking of ski equipment handled promptly and in a very supportive manner (important for someone who has never skied before). The instructors on the slopes have been professional, friendly, competent and patient. The group introductory session is well structured and well worth the two hours effort. The only problem I found was that since it was paced at the pace of the slowest learner, we ran out of time to practice the final skill at the end of the session due to one person who held the group back. The web site does, however, warn you of this on booking, but it was frustrating. The private session I booked a week later was fantastic. I had a one-to-one session and the instructor (Les) was friendly, supportive and very professional. Starting with me not being able to do a proper slow plough turn, he spent the hour working on my posture and technique and had me confident and putting together several turns on the main slope by the end of the lesson.
