David Lloyd Worthing

Negative experience: I enjoy the classes, however there has been two price increases within a year, this is fine if this clubs standard was up to other David Lloyds in the UK, such as Hampton or Farnham. The spa area is often not clean, with hairs floating around the hot tub, a clump got stuck on my neck the other week!! The female showers have a strong damp smell and the toilets (especially the disabled toilet in the female lockers) are often not clean and have a strong smell. This is meant to be a premium gym but the standards aren’t there. So many members so surely there is some money to improve!!

Negative experience: The app is complete garbage - crashes all the time, does things like says it is processing my booking request when it has actually crashed, and then the classes fill up within a minute of becoming available and I'm left without a booking. £160 per month for 50p worth of service

Negative experience: Gym is ok- shame about the members rude and lack courtesy , over-crowed most of the time especially in changing rooms. Hot tub could do with a clean more often filled with hair and nail clippings and whatever else.

Fantastic experience: Signed up today with Tobias. He has been so encouraging and helpful and made the process easy. Looking forward to stating my journey as David Lloyd member.

Fantastic experience: Had to wait a long time for food but Grace managed the experience which was annoying with great service that made all the difference and changed this from a negative experience to a positive one

I’ve just started personal training sessions with Josh Conlon who is a great asset to the club with his knowledge & enthusiasm. He has tailored a plan to suit my ability & motivates me to achieve my fitness goal.

Fantastic experience: Jamie went above and beyond during our visit! He gave us a fantastic tour of the complex, explaining everything in detail, especially for my mom, who is recovering from a broken leg. Jamie made sure my mom knew how to get around easily and highlighted the swimming facilities, which will be perfect for her rehabilitation. His enthusiasm gave my mom the confidence and excitement she needed to feel like she's on her way to recovery. The joy and relief in my mom's laughter said it all. We couldn’t be more grateful!

Fantastic experience: Just rejoined David Lloyd at Worthing and have made the most of the kickstart programme with PT sessions with Abi Bence who was recommended by another member. The first time I have had a PT and I was feeling nervous but it has made so much difference to me. In fact I have been to the gym every day since joining. Abi is brilliant, she has made me feel so comfortable but at the same time pushed me to keep going! Thank you Abi you are amazing! Dionne

Fantastic experience: Just finished my 3 x kickstart sessions with the amazing PT Abi Bence! I’m expecting my second baby in April/May ‘25 and really wanted to get my body as strong as possible for the pregnancy and postpartum period. Abi has been nothing short of incredible. Every session has been full of information about the equipment/work out styles and how to adapt it for different stages of the pregnancy. I’ve left the sessions with a full work out plan for the entire pregnancy. Will def be booking her again when I’ve hit post partum. Loved the PT open week this week it was a highlight of the membership. Would love to see David Lloyd run classes that cater for women during pregnancy or for post partum as can often be so underrepresented. Thanks to Abi I feel like my unique goals were 100% catered for.

Fantastic experience: Really great gym, lots of equipemwnt. Fantastic PT team Abi is amazing, really took the time to understand my gials and take me through the equipment.

Negative experience: A gym that’s too dark and too hot; tvs in the lounge area that don’t work; a steam room that’s not steamy, and a pool that’s closed after an incident. Not good enough for the price.

Positive experience: The tennis courts and food are very good. The wait time for the food can sometimes be 45+ minutes so you should always ask for the wait time before ordering food. There are sometimes leaks in the pipes next to the tennis courts.

Negative experience: i mainly use the gym and it has nice equipment except the overall maintenance is not good there’s leaks was a pipe burst not too long ago a few power cuts fire alarms going off and not to mention glass being in the main pool it’s not well maintained and for the price not worth it especially as it’s going up again in december i believe this has all happened in a span of 9 months not worth the hassle the gym group is a lot better maintained

Positive experience: Excited to start our membership! Jamie was great with initial contact about the club, given I've never joined a gym. The tour of the facilities was a nice introduction and he managed to tailor it to both myself and my husband - who is a bit more keen on fitness! He's been available all hours to answer any questions we may have, and very kind offer of some guest passes for an IT issue we experienced on sign up was a nice touch. Only suggestion would be that we both work full time like many people, (usual Monday to Friday hours) so a little more awareness of suitable times to call would be good as we often couldn't answer due to meetings etc. It's good that classes are repeated throughout the week, including the weekend, as it might tempt us to do something other than swimming!

Negative experience: Gym too busy & far too many members now.

Positive experience: Great equipment! Eleiko plates and bars, loads of benches and free weights, plenty of running machines. The gym though is roasting hot, not sure if the air con is broken or not working as well. Spa is in need of a refurb as it looks shabby. Great outdoor pool seating and the food was decent.

Negative experience: Am teetering on ending membership might have to due to health issue anyway. However, cleanliness of showers and changing rooms not up to scratch. Excessive hair on walls, doors and drains. Dont think they have in house cleaners maintaining levels of hygiene gene throughout the day. Often dirty plasters and tissues can be seen around edge of indoor pool and water is slimy. Staff do not do sweep checks to maintain areas. I have had virus after virus since joining a few months ago. . Children run riot. Staff young and do not check bad behaviour. Most classes are full and cafe is noisy with food on floor and seats. Have to queue for machines at times. I understand that some people use phones to monitor workouts but there appears to be qute a few just posing on social media without a thought for others not DL's fault but shows the kind of clientele that are members esp in gym. Getting more overcrowded by the day and less relaxing or enjoyable

Fantastic experience: Went for a show around today at David Lloyd and had the pleasure of meeting Jamie who did a fantastic job at showing me everything and really making me feel welcome, iv been at gyms before but nothing compares to the gym and classes i got to witness today on the show around, cant wait to go back next week to start a membership! Positive experience: We love the facilities at David Lloyd something for all the family! Unfortunately the food is a massive let down, I’m constantly disappointed when trying new dishes and I’m not the only one. I’ve had to be refunded multiple times for inedible food. The wait staff are usually so friendly and great at their jobs, which is also a shame on them the food being such a let down. Fresh good quality please DL! Your chicken burger put me off chicken for a week. Gym is great, could get some updated machines. Classes are fabulous and the teachers are all fantastic! I do multiple classes and play Tennis. The facilities are varied, the pool area inside and out needs to be cleaned more often. Tiles need to be replaced, the spa area could do with an update and a plunge pool would go a long way with members! Softplay and kids area is never truly clean, when I come in first thing in the morning, there’s food on the floor and it just doesn’t look clean inside the soft-play itself. Just expect it to be better for the money we pay each month. And it can be if David Lloyd care.

Fantastic experience: From start to membership I can’t fault David Lloyd’s. I’ve been with another gym for 3 years and built my confidence up there. I used to be someone who would head straight for the treadmills and never had the confidence to do much else or even go to the toilet! This did change over the years as I built up confidence & started with a PT. I love my fitness (primarily weights & running) but suffer with chronic back pain so have been looking for somewhere who can help with my all round health, primarily somewhere with a sauna which helps my back. I came to David Lloyd’s on a guest pass and although nervous to start with within 10-15 minutes I felt so comfortable. The standard of facilities here are second to none and the staff equally reflect this. Kirstin has been FANTASTIC! She really helped put my mind at ease and answered all the questions I had regarding the membership. She covered everything and was fair and honest. I was considering a joint membership with my partner and she arranged another day pass for us to both see the club at peak times which I was so grateful for. This place just doesn’t get busy! Even at peak times it’s certainly not the levels of people I’m used to at my old gym. I have autism so lighting and sensory processing on the whole for me is a huge difficulty but the lighting in the gym is so much kinder for me. Sure, it’s not cheap but when you break down what you get it’s very cost effective. Already I’m seeing huge differences in my back pain and levels of pain. Jamie finalised my membership and although he’s only been with the club for 3 weeks he’s fantastic too I’ve really settled in and as Jamie said when we met I look at home & I certainly feel it. The staff are a real credit to the club and I feel so much happier here, you can’t put a price on that. If I was to be super picky I’ve only picked up on a handful of things which aren’t negatives just observations: 1. The club gets very warm. Maybe I’m used to a very cold gym but I must say the changing rooms and gym could do with a bit more air con being pumped through, especially with the windows in the gym & hairdryers etc in the changing rooms 2. There are children here but that’s mainly because I’m not used to this! There are times which are adult only though which makes this better for me 3. They use Elemis products throughout which is fantastic but I was surprised that despite using everything else they don’t use the shampoo & conditioner These are the only things I have picked up on but they certainly don’t impact my feelings about David Lloyd’s! The club is an investment in your health & your life & if you take everything from it you’ll reap the benefits of the membership and the cost. Fantastic experience: The most amazing group of supportive women. The only group that does this stage of life justice in terms of education, advice and resource. Everyone should have access to this level of support as the menopause does not need to be a struggle, nor should we go through it alone. Oh, and it’s a lot of fun too!

Fantastic experience: My wife & I met Salina with a view to joining the club. Salina was professional, courteous & a very knowledgeable staff member. Salina gave us plenty of time to view the entire club & answered all our questions along the way (although she anticipated many before being asked). Would highly recommend Salina as a valuable staff member & a great representative of the DL club.

Negative experience: DISGUSTING lack of morality and care for customers, simply put David Lloyd is a massive money grabbing company. Their contracts are complete scams- they state that if prices increase then a contract is eligible to be cancelled. They increased their prices but when contacted through their live chat (which is the only way to have any decent contact with them due to their poor communication through email or phone calls!!!!) they argue that they are allowed to increase prices by up to 10% due to inflation. With the state of the economy that’s fair but if you recognise that you need to increase prices as you’re not making enough money as a company surely you should also recognise the entire country is going through the same thing and so there should be an exception in their contracts as people can simply not afford extortionate gym memberships anymore !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Negative experience: I have been a member of this company for 4 years. The last time I went to the Worthing branch, two of the staff members were very rude and racist. They ignored me and talked to other clients. Because of this, I canceled my membership and switched to another company. I can only say that if you are a foreigner, never go to the Worthing branch. Even the manager reacted the same way.

Positive experience: I've been a member and visited 10+ DL clubs plus many other gyms over the last few years. This David Lloyd has a good vibe. There are DL clubs with better facilities but in this gym the members actually put the weights back on the racks, apart from a couple of morons but you can spot them a mile off. These are the same idiots who would park in the disabled spaces, but luckily they are the minority. Fairly busy even in the mornings but that's probably because there's several offices right next to the gym. Parking might be an issue sometimes but I walk and cycle in so not totally sure. Staff seem pretty friendly and relaxed too. 5 indoor tennis courts but the bookings seem to go as soon as they're available for bookings. That's the same in most DL clubs with indoor courts though. One of the better DLs due to members being generally quite nice and chilled. Response to David Lloyd following review - the club isn’t outstanding, it’s just better than the others mainly due to members. How about actually responding to the issues I raised? Fantastic experience: Although pricey these days, decent building, very good if you have kids as plenty for them to do. Overall clean. Can be very busy but that’s a testament of David Lloyd. Swimming pool clean, staff helpful.

Positive experience: Very attentive personal trainer. Starter at the gym but made welcome and valued as a member. Bit lost and nervous at first but everyone members and staff reassuring and friendly. Enjoyed the pool and classes. Doing this to help with arthritis a good start. Need to be on the ball to book classes but now had the personal trainer sessions for the gym feel more comfortable. Very few changing cubicles. We go to the pool after 6pm at the weekend as not so busy.

Fantastic experience: My experience yesterday evening at the club was smooth. I observed Abigail cleaning the ladies' showers. I must say I have never seen anything like that before. She was completely carried away while doing a detailed and amazing job that she didn't k know I was watching her. I was touched, and I had to ask her of her name. She deseve recognition.

Fantastic experience: My Grandaughter had her birthday party at David Lloyd. The staff were absolutely brilliant. They were so encouraging with all the different age groups and made it a very successful party.

Fantastic experience: I joined a few weeks ago and I'm really impressed. I've had 3 sports massages from Melissa, who is excellent. She's very knowledgeable, discusses the clients needs and really works in the areas required. I would fully recommend her. Alongside the swimming, in a great pool, I am hoping to greatly improve my fitness level this year, and I'm confident this is the perfect place to achieve this goal.

Fantastic experience: Have recently joined the club and it was the best decision! Staff are so friendly from reception to F&B and all the facilities are of such a good standard. Donna Sims delivers excellent classes. The kids club is brilliant and Rachel and Izzy are great with the Grandchildren. One of the managers - Dan, was so patient at helping us with the booking app. Highly recommend joining. It's worth every penny!
