Fantastic experience: Went for a family swim in the half term. I always end up freezing cold floating around the training pool, and when you get out to get to the showers, it is always freezing there.

Positive experience: As I’m sure many of you will know the company who collects your payments as a member of the centre are called Harlands. I had a payment dispute with this company and received a threatening email from them which asked me to call them. I called them and spoke to two different people. I found them both to be rude, aggressive and completely unreasonable and so decided to call Alfreton Leisure Centre. I was lucky enough to speak to a lady called Shelly who I have to say was fantastic. She dealt with the payment issue professionally and has an excellent attitude. Thank you Shelly.

Positive experience: Great friendly staff, could not be better. The reason for only four stars is the strange lane system for the lane swimming sessions. I have now been swimming at eight pools in the Places group, in all the others the pool is split into three double width lanes. Fast, medium and slow. At Alfreton only the slow lane is double width, the rest of the pool is four single lanes, two fast and two slow. So, overtaking is not possible if there are more than two swimmers in the lane.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Alfreton leisure centre since November 2023. It's much better than the Ripely One (Sorry Ripley, lol) Gyms way better & it has a sauna it's decent. Staff are always on point Latte's are top-notch. It's 5 stars from Alfretons Very own "SprayMasters"

Positive experience: I have a membership here. The service is great and the facilities are up to date. Everything is clean and tidy and well presented. The pool is somewhat warm and the Gym is really well-kept and modern. The only issue I have with this place is the Prices of the food and drink in the café and the vending machines. The food is great but I usually skip eating there because of the prices.

Positive experience: Love my swimming lessons here, the instructor is brilliant and a treasure. I've only given 4 stars out of 5 as the centre isn't as accessible as it needs to be for disabled visitors (not much disabled parking as more is dedicated to families, only 1 accessible bathroom thats always locked, no stools by the hairdryer station so if you struggle to stand for long periods you can't dry your hair, and the doors to the changing room are not automatic are very heavy and difficult to open when using mobility aids as they are always closed) Update:I received aa personal email re my suggestions for better accessibility and I am pleased with the response from the team, they have also made the accomodation of adding a stool in the hair drying section, which makes that area much more accessible for those who can not stand for long periods etc I should also add i was wrong re parking, there are equal bays for parents/disabled and blue badge users can park in the parent/child bays if there are no disabled spaces available.

Negative experience: I was about to join, but a £30 'joining fee' is absolutely ludicrous. Joining fees are a joke in general, what is the £30 needed for when I'm filling everything out online for you!?

Fantastic experience: First impressions, as only visited the basement area. Clean and tidy entrance and reception area, along with a spacious cafeteria, make this a welcoming environment. Stairs and an elevator access to all three floors, professional and courteous staff make for an easy and pleasant experience.

Fantastic experience: My partner runs a Tetsudo karate class here and the staff were fab at helping him get set up. They are always friendly when checking in etc. There's a lovely cafe and snack area in the atrium

Fantastic experience: Come here all the time to swim with my 7yr old. We have a swim in the big pool and end the hour with a play in the training pool. He loves it.

Positive experience: Gym is too small to training in peak time .only one set off dumbells for every weight.3 leg machines,one is out of use for 5 weeks,may longer.Good points:sauna, squash,swimming pool,friendly staff.Just think to leave it and drive to Ripley Leisure if is bigger...

Positive experience: Staff are friendly and the place is very spacious. I always use the swimming pool and have only just recently started using the gym. The only thing that has let it down is that when I visited to use the gym today, they couldn’t find me on the system and then told me that they don’t people pay as they go anymore and that people need a membership.

Positive experience: Changing rooms for the pool always smell of urine each week when I take my son swimming and are always freezing, but pool area is warm. Can't comment on pool temp, son says the big pool is cold once entering, receptionists and swim teachers are helpful and friendly.

Positive experience: very good, me and my friend absolutely love coming here but we are only 15 and having to pay £23 a month just to come here which I think Is alot for under 18 year olds, especially if you don’t have a job and some days we aren’t allowed in because we aren’t old enough but we have to pay the full price. Other than that everything is great and everyone is so friendly and kind. everything is well looked after and clean

Positive experience: I visit several times a week. The facilities are good although things seem to stay broken for long periods sometimes. Staff are friendly and helpful too. The main issue I have is parking as there are often events held here which makes parking really limited at times

Positive experience: We come to this leisure centre to swim with our toddler, but it's a last resort stop for us when the Pool at Matlock is closed. We find this toddler pool cold and our toddler doesn't like to stay in for very long. The pool has a sandy grainy feel at the bottom like it's not clean. The biggest disappointment is the changing rooms. The cubicles are tiny and the whole changing room is FREEZING cold. Some even smell like urine. Disappointing and needs to up it's game.

Positive experience: Went to the Antiques Fair. Not many stalls as it was the first after covid, but I was very impressed with the leisure centre, it all Looked very clean. The cafe had a variety of drinks and snacks. Car parking was a blessing as you don't have to pay.

Fantastic experience: Our son swims for Belper marlin and we go to the centre on a Friday and when there is competitions on. The place itself is clean and welcoming and the staff there most are volunteers are incredible training the kids.

Fantastic experience: Attended an open dog show at the bowling Hall, apart from the parking, which was a pain, it was excellent. Great staff and good amount of room.

Fantastic experience: I did my first ever taste of Pilates with Heather on Thursday night and as someone who is not flexible or relaxed - the session worked wonders and she was an amazing teacher who provided variations of moves and encouraged you to take your time and work to what you can do!
