Positive experience: We booked a one night stay and were pleasantly surprised. There is ample parking, a spacious room, which was suitable for disabled, and a great breakfast. There is also free access to the superbly equipped gym as well as a sauna and steam room. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful with a couple of small issues with the room. It is a pleasant 25 minute walk into chocolate box Marlow with ample bars and restaurants

Fantastic experience: This place is a hidden gem. Love it. Great rooms, good value

Positive experience: I stayed at this property for one night for a business trip. The hotel is easily accessible, is surrounded by greenery and despite being a sports center reigns tranquility. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, the USB sockets are truly appreciated by those from outside the UK. Great breakfast. Friendly and practical staff.

Fantastic experience: Watching football on the hybrid pitches. Quality playing surface.

Josh Young 1 year ago

Positive experience: Great sports center, but mostly centered around it's national sporting endeavours. Facilities are usually a bit less well kept in the public facing areas but if you pay for a year's membership up front it is good value for money. Main frustration is that all the tennis facilities do not fall under the main Bisham Abbey membership. Real shame that this is not all encompassing as I'd certainly pay more for the convenience! No idea about the rooms I'm afraid, always driven to the gym

Fantastic experience: Great places- hotel cannot fault nice clean great staff buffet breakfast spot on. The only complaint was that the pizza in the refuel cafe was not good worst ever ad, apart from that really nice place to stay.

Chris Tye 2 years ago

Negative experience: Great sporting venue shame about the rooms. Very dated, clean but the bed was awful. The breakfast was good. Come on Bisham Abbey sort these rooms out for our elite athletes.

Negative experience: Hostel stile accommodation- although in a gr8 location would never return sorry! Eau de Gym was everywhere even in the bedrooms! And get rid of those stained coverlets on the beds. Cooked breakfast was tasteless

Fantastic experience: Rate this 10/10 the room was super tidy and the bed was really comfy. Was booked for a work thing by my company, wasn't too sure when I saw the place but boy I was wrong. It was amazing. All members of staff were amazing and over all stay was great. Defo recommend! Only small thing was that check out was by 9:30... Im sure it could have been adjusted to a little later but otherwise amazing

Negative experience: We was given a disabled edapted room to stay in with showers and toilets which where hard to use, the whole site was in pitch black outside, with know task lighting.. I know it's not a hotel per se but was still advertised on booking. Com.. Shocking!

Positive experience: It's a nice place to stay at a fair price. Excellent and healthy breakfast which you would expect at a national sports centre.

Claudius Kohrt 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: This is such a great place for what it is: clean, spacious and affordable accommodation for the right price. Lots of sports facilities naturally as this is a UK national sports center. So there are predominantly sports folks, but not exclusively. Breakfast was great I thought. Good selection and quality of food.

Fantastic experience: Stayed over here during a baseball coaching summit and really enjoyed our stay in the rooms and the use of the facilities on site. We also were lucky enough to get food in the canteen which was varied and delicious for both lunch and breakfast. Location is also great as it's so close to the M4 and the grounds and buildings are beautiful.

Emi 2 years ago

Positive experience: We stayed there only one night so can't say much . The room was really clean , I could even open the window (that's a great part of it ) which was shocked because in any other hotels it's impossible! We had deal with breakfast included but breakfast was really basic of course full English breakfast but not enough of other stuff like cheese, ham , fruits , so yeah it was basic one (for me ) It was few slices of cheese , few slices of ham that's all . But like I said we stayed there only for a night so I can't complain about it. Forget to add SPA and GYM was included in price so that was good

Ben Knowlden 2 years ago

Negative experience: Went there for an away hockey match and for the teas afterwards was given half a jacket potato. Inflation has affected us all but I expected better from a set up like this.

Thanks for making their day so special

Fantastic experience: The national centre is keeping better than some of it counterparts. Helpful people and everything we needed for a successful day.

DAVE SPICER 2 years ago

Positive experience: Probably a really good sports centre but I stayed there to use the accomodation. Stayed 3 nights but was booked for 4, left early with no discount. Wasn't expecting it though to be honest. What I was expecting though was for the room to be made up daily but wasn't done once. All three days I had to go to reception to get them to open my room door as it had a faulty lock in the door. Heating was noisy and had to turn off, ran out of shower gel in the first night and it wasn't replenished at all.

Positive experience: Very clean with modern facilities, this provided an excellent overnight stop while attending a local festival. Uniquely, the corridors and one poster in the room), celebrate the history of Team GB and Bisham Abbey's role.

John Sharples 3 years ago

Positive experience: Not really a hotel, so really surprised by the high standard of rooms and facilities. Very handy for the lovely old town of Marlow.

Chris Dash 3 years ago

Negative experience: Unfriendly staff at reception. Very awkward with us and non welcoming on the Saturday bordering on Curt. A miserable foriegn looking lady at checkout on the Sunday morning just about capped it all. Breakfast was a acceptable but once again miserable staff in the restaurant. Premier Inn type accommodation but in a wonderful location. On the Thames and one mile outside Marlow. The saving grace was the ultra friendly night manager Tony, these day time staff could learn a lot from him. A social skills course definitely needed. The lady in the coffee shop was also lovely. Go there at your peril or perhaps check in when the night staff come in.

Positive experience: We were visiting for a wedding and, although the hotel / bedrooms were OK (a little tired), the facilities for the wedding reception in the 'Abbey' could have been better. We were lucky that it didn't rain. The Meal & Service at the Wedding Dinner was excellent. The Bar was 'very small' and service was slow with some staff having limited bar knowledge. The seating in the bar area was virtually non-existent. Fortunately, we were able to sit outside (before & after the meal), but not everyone could as there weren't enough seats. Not convinced that it is a Wedding Venue facility, even if by the Thames.

Negative experience: Function room was amazing. Over all stay in the Abbey building itself awful

Jake Mitchell 3 years ago

Negative experience: Had this accomodation booked for me as I was to be visiting Marlow for work for a few days. 1st Night: Arrived at 9pm and was pretty sad to see that after my long drive, the bar was shut and I could not get a cold drink. Room came without a chair by the desk. Places for storage quite dusty. Bathroom light turned on automatically which is not ideal if you wake up late at night and don't want a bright light pulling you out of your tired state. Woken up at 6am by first visitors to the tennis courts which I guess is to be expected. 2nd Night: Woken up at 5am by some kind of activity. Tried to look at what was happening and saw a truck with the back open. Guy obviously couldn't care less how early it was because he was slamming things about in there for a good few hours. Unless you are staying to make use of the sport facilities, I'd recommend avoiding accomodation if you are in the local area for business. It's very isolated, very busy with young children when you get back from work and very noisy at a very early time.

Fantastic experience: Lovely football pitches for training. Great coaches for developing your game.

Positive experience: This is like a hybrid hotel which is perfectly nice but missing things like late night food or room service. Reception in sports centre and wasn't sign posted that well but staff all very friendly. Didnt stay for breakfast so can't comment on food. Very nice pub around corner.

Philip Hayton 3 years ago

Negative experience: The National Sport Centre is the "Fawlty Towers" of gyms. Time and again, and again I've turned up for exercise classes to find them cancelled; nobody had bothered to tell the members. For years the gym has been riddled with faulty equipment. As for managers I've never seen one for years. It gets so bad you wish Boris would drop by and sort things out! The only thing they're good at is making sure you pay your fees.

Becky Lowden 3 years ago

Positive experience: It was ok. I stayed in the hotel part. Man who was serving breakfast didnt crack a smile once. Very rude and wouldn't talk. He seemed miserable. Breakfast at half 6 till half 8 and hot food from half 7 so not a great window. Rooms were ok. Cobwebs everywhere and our room wasn't turned around. Had family in other rooms and they didn't have much facilities in their room such a chairs and kettles. I understand its a sports centre but also need to focus on the hotel part too. The lady who served behind the bar was lovely. Hope others have a better experience.

Fantastic experience: I cannot rate this venue highly enough as a wedding venue!  Not to be mistaken with the Sports Centre side of the Bisham Abbey site you’d be hard pushed to find a more stunning location for your wedding. The Abbey itself has a great history and is stunning both inside and out (great for your wedding photos!!) and the setting on the river is beautiful.  We got married there this year (2021) and the day was fabulous, the staff work incredibly hard to make your day run smoothly (which it did) and their Wedding Coordinator is a huge asset to the venue as are the young team who worked so hard throughout the wedding breakfast.  The food is amazing and very high quality, if you like Pina Colada do try the pineapple tart tatin with coconut ice cream (I could happily eat this every day for the rest of my life!!), all our guests commented on how amazing the food was.  There is a very good range of choices for the Wedding Breakfast, separate children’s menu and the Abbey are able to cater for a wide range of dietary requirements plus a great choice of canapés.  The onsite bar is a great addition and well stocked. One of the major plus points of the venue is the number of rooms you can use for your wedding meaning that if people don’t want to be where your, eg, disco is they can chill out in a different room or weather permitting outdoors which is such a lovely setting.  Accommodation and parking is in good supply at the venue and the accommodation is very reasonably priced with breakfast included, there is accommodation over in the sports centre but also a really lovely newly refurbished Bridal Suite in the Abbey itself.  The wedding costs themselves for the venue are very reasonable especially considering the location of the venue and the venue itself.  All in all an absolutely great venue and one to most definitely consider.

Fantastic experience: As someone who works as a Gym Instructor at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, it was really interesting to visit the Bisham Abbey site. Set in beautiful grounds, the gym is first rate. I'd gone there for a meeting and sadly had no time to try the facilities, but they have everything you need for a great workout session. Thoroughly recommended.

Fantastic experience: We checked in for one night including breakfast and found Bisham Abbey Hotel to be one of the best kept secrets in Marlow. The twin bedded room was basic but with everything we needed for a good sleep. Shower room was excellent with great water pressure. The room was SPOTLESSLY clean. Breakfast was open from 08:30 and was also excellent…. All one needed to get going at the start of a day. Bisham Abbey is Highly recommended!

Anne McCabe 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: Outstanding wedding venue! The team at Bisham, particularly Wedding Coordinator Melissa, genuinely go beyond anyone's expectations in the effort put in to make each couples day special. Melissa ensured the day ran seamlessly, and adapted to our many requests! She was continously kind and responsive, and a true asset to Bisham. Mark was also incredible on the day, and the food truly outstanding, even allowing us to design a unique menu! All staff, from catering, to security, to the incredible bartender who worked tirelessly all day & night long, were so incredibly friendly and could not do enough. We cannot recommend Bisham enough for a wedding!
