The shallow end is 0.9 metres and the deep end is 1.2 metres. There is also a “beach area” pool joined on to the main pool. This starts off at the same level as the poolside area and gradually descends to join the shallow end.
During a fun session we unleash our funky floats, tyres and big bouncy balls into the pool. Families are welcome and any child under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Fancy having a fun birthday party in the water? Hassle free night? Why not book a birthday party at Rothesay Leisure Centre. Birthday parties are held on a Friday evening 5.45pm – 7pm.
The party is in two parts: the water session lasts 45 minutes and then everyone can enjoy themselves in the spectating area for another 45 minutes. We can accommodate for up to 40 people at a party.
The health suite is the perfect location to put your feet up and relax after a hard day at work or after a workout in our fitness suite. The health suite has a sauna cabin and a steam room with four loungers available to relax on. There is a shower for use between visits to the sauna and steam rooms and at the end of your visit. Included for your use are a water fountain, changing cubicles and lockers.
Fitness classes run from The Moat Centre, where participants can select from a wide choice of classes including Functional fitness, Yoga, Barfit and Kettlebells. We also run Aquafit classes in the pool every weekday.
Bookings for fitness classes are not essential but recommended to guarantee your space. Members can now book classes through the members’ web portal or the liveArgyll app. If you cannot access either of these or are not yet a member, please book at reception.
Our Gym is fully equipped with Technogym top of the range cardiovascular and weights exercise equipment. We are fortunate to have a Powerplate and this fantastic piece of equipment provides the ultimate experience in acceleration training. It offers a host of benefits ranging from improved blood circulation to increased muscle strength and range of motion.

3 years ago Fantastic experience: Great pool for kids, the main swimming pool has a shallow pool attached meaning toddlers can have fun without being out of their depth.We were on Bute for holiday so numerous daytime slots for family swimming was spot on. Mainly individual changing cubicles but some family one too. Lockers were free, no need to root around for change, and there were lots of them. Overall spot on.

8 years ago Positive experience: Tried to use showers while attending Butefest, one of the locals got very aggressive towards us and we no longer felt safe and left. That said the staff were lovely and dealt with our complaint all though we left without refund. Although we did not use any of the facilities in the end I do have to say that it was clean and tidy and looked to be a great local amenity. Sad that we had the run in with the unfriendly, unwelcoming local.
9 years ago Positive experience: Replaced the previous swimming facilities at Battery Place about 3 miles away. Whilst the previous pool was Olympic size, this one is much more accessible for children and the elderly. Has a small gym attached with no jacuzzi or spa facilities.
