Fantastic experience: The price is reasonable, and despite being a for working really hard, it's also an amazing source of relaxation.

Negative experience: I hate to do this as this gym is a great local, friendly and clean gym. However, after having issues with a parking ticket after using the gym's car park once I will not be returning and have infact cancelled my membership. This is purely because after having initially sorted the ticket with a PT I have continued to be sent letters and had to appeal my reason for using the gym's car park with no response and the charge continuing to go up. If you are able to find parking elsewhere I would recommend it as it is a complete waste of time trying to get in contact with the actual parking and security

Fantastic experience: Excellent 24hr clean gym with lots of top equipment and facilities... I can't fault it. BUT... the car parking is not 24hr, and like others, I, too, have now received a parking fine from the private parking company despite using the gym's reg recording system every visit. This is NOT a fault of the gyms, but it is very irritating.

Positive experience: Good gym for the money. Staff are all sound, alot better than previous staff they had here. Free car parking which is a bonus too in the town centre

Fantastic experience: The Gym group is a fantastic place to workout. The facilities are modern and well-equipped, with a wide variety of cardio machines, strength training equipment, and free weights. The staff are all incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, going out of their way to assist members. Trainer Josh, in particular, is excellent - he provides personalized guidance and motivation to help you reach your fitness goals. Overall, I highly recommend The Gym group .

Fantastic experience: Josh and Pat were really helpful when I had a stint that left me nearly fainting, very friendly and understanding, helping until I left. Nice atmosphere in the gym itself, equipment is all up to par and overall pleasant to come to, recommend it.

Positive experience: Value for money, The Yanga water makes it beneficial, Overall the gym is great, bit overcrowded and waiting for 5 people all using one machine to finish can be frustrating, But long term I'm happy with what it comes with and wouldn't change it , Seen some great results and the staff have all been fantastic since previous gym closed down. Coconut and Pineapple water needs replacing as it's a good drink

Fantastic experience: Great classes with Josh Green he really ia a fab instructor I also have a PT session with Josh once a week my confidence has grown I feel fitter stronger and braver to lift weights He takes me out of my comfort zone My only wish is that you allowed younger people in. My son is 14and half and absolutely desperate to join the gym He is a footballer and wants to do weights to help him on his journey to follow his dreams of becoming a pro I think the age should be dropped to 15

Fantastic experience: I've been going there for some time. (On and off because i'm lazy sometimes) i always love going when i go. Never had any problems with people who go there. No one bothers you, and the little time i've asked the staff for anything, everyones been friendly. I'll always keep coming back here even if i have time off from time to time. Couldn't recommend it enough.

After finishing the exercise, I went to the bathroom and after the bathroom, I realized with disbelief that there was no hair dryer And I had to go out with wet hair in the winter, and I have been sick for four days . I blame you. You are smart only for the monthly charge

Negative experience: Barnsley Gymgroup In all the years ive been training, Never have I ever seen a badly run gym like this one, Complaints procedures dont exist, I know (ive tried) Managers, Area managers, Head office wont even respond to you, Even some of the PT's complain about how bad management is, Ive seen an exodus of people leaving because quite a few have got £100 fines for not logging their car in when visiting, (when they had). Car park at the weekend is a nightmare, Ive seen staff rolling in at 9.45am to unlock it instead of the 8am opening. Theft is rife, a lot locker doors are bent in half from people breaking into them. The toilets ar disgusting and been out of order for weeks as the stench is terrible, Theres no music, No atmosphere and now hardly any people, as most have left and gone to the other big gym in town, (which is cheaper and much much better) The only people that are using it are not the type you would want to train alongside or associate with. I would advise anybody not to use this place OR let your kids use it, Its the most unfriendliest place ive ever come across with some very unsavory characters in it. Just look at some review sites on this place before you make your mind up and you.ll see what i mean

Now going to to them court . Also lad josh Carn be bothered not help full said ill put u fines in bin . And it's there area to park .and lockers half locks missing . Lack of cleaning . Too smells in men's room

Negative experience: Fix the fuking air condition

Negative experience: Selection and availability of equipment is better than most other local gyms. However, hygiene really took a drive recently. Awful stench in the mens changing rooms, these don't get cleaned well/regularly, with overflowing toilets/mess everywhere. Gym itself often a state with heavy weights just left thrown around on the floor. Litter/used tissues just left on equipment. Obviously a lot of this is down to dirty members, however staff should pay more attention as to who is doing this and also have someone available to clean up this mess.

Positive experience: For anyone who is familiar with The gym group they are standardised nationally. However, there are local differences, and Barnsley is no exception. The gym is accessed by using the front access or the rear door ( excuse the expression ). The front access is by a main road with no parking, although some at their own risk park on the payment, or further down the road. There is a car park nearby which is free after 5pm and very cheap in the day. Many people park here as it is quick and easy, with just a walk around the block to the gym, through a ginnel (if you don’t know what that is look it up ) The rear runs onto a multistorey car park, which is free as long as you remember to enter your registration number of your car or you will be fined. You must also leave the car park by 10pm despite the gym being open 24/7 or you will be locked in. The only way to get out is to either wait until the next day, or pay an unlock fee of over £100 according to the attendant, who graciously let me out when I didn't know the closing times The gym itself is large, relatively clean, unlike many other "The Gym group", locations. It is currently going through a freshening so when it opens in a couple of days it may look brand spanking new. The atmosphere is pleasant, no dodgy dudes hanging around like other gyms, or drooling over the females. Changing rooms are clean, showers and toilets work. For a cheap as chips gym you can't go wrong.

Negative experience: The gym itself i enjoyed, the rating is a reflection of the wider Gym Group business. Poor customer service, had issues trying to get login information for the parking fine and they were useless and simply regurgitated what i already knew but ignored what i needed help with, asked about complaints procedure and have been ignored again. Moved gyms now

Positive experience: It's affordable and close to where I live. Alot of the equipment isn't to a good standard, it gets uncomfy or gets stuck alot. Half the lockers are always broken, alongside the entrance pods not always working. No fault of the staff but other members never clean up after themselves leaving weights absolutely everywhere, very messy environment and frustrating as someone who isn't very strong having to tidy up 100kg + just to clear space for my own workout.
